Was planning on avoiding this one anyway, as I've never been one for sports games to begin with (however, I can remotely tolerate baseball games, such as MLB Slugfest 2003, and maybe the occasional motocross game, like Freekstyle or Moto Racer).
It's the same with the Mario sports games; I can't even get into Mario Kart, after having lost interest in it from playing Mario Kart 7 way too much. I much prefer the Super Mario part of the Mario franchise, since the focus is more on adventure.
Besides, I don't have many friends to play online games with (and the ones that I do have don't want to play the games that I like because they tend to have a gacha mechanic, even though it's not required to enjoy the game; games such as Genshin Impact and Umamusume: Pretty Derby, for example), so I'm basically left with solo gaming experiences.
I really have no interest in the Mario sports games. Not even Mario Kart. If I'm going to play a Mario game, it's going to be from the Super Mario series.
Personally, I'm hoping for something with a bit more cohesive of a narrative, plus more hack & slash elements, with hordes of enemies to cut your way through. But we'll see.
@neogyo Who said I was a human to begin with? After all, my name implies that I am not from this world. 😉
Jokes aside, it's genuinely because it helps lull me to sleep, but also because I find some of the stories immensely satisfying to listen to. In fact, I am thinking of writing my own stories based on some of these videos (but not using AI; I'm actually quite talented at creative writing, so I have no need for AI to do it for me).
As a big and lifelong Star Trek fan (we're talking since I was just a little kid in the 1990s), I might try out the demo. But I'm not normally one for strategy games.
I maintain that the best Star Trek game I ever played was Star Trek Online. I signed up when it went F2P and got quite far in it, maxing out my character level and everything (at least what counted for a level cap back then).
Although, I have not played it in recent years because I've gotten sucked in by other games, such as Genshin Impact. Plus, now that I am a working adult, I don't have as much time to play games like I used to.
But I would not mind playing it again. I doubt it would ever happen, but it would be really neat if that game could come to the Switch 2 (especially if it allows me to use my account from the PC version, thus allowing for cross-progression).
@neogyo Thanks for that. I mentioned it to my cousin's husband when we were at Christmas, and despite me insisting that I only use it as a sleep aid, he kept going, "AI bad." I'm paraphrasing, but that's what he meant.
@foursider Well, as I said, it's not really about the games themselves, but what the Switch 2 is capable of. And if this lineup is any indication, it means that the Switch 2 is capable of standing toe-to-toe with its rivals in playing modern games, even if the hardware in the system is roughly a generation or so behind Sony and Microsoft. There might not be as high of a graphical fidelity or framerate, but the fact that it's still capable of even running the game to begin with is impressive.
@foursider You need to look at it this way: despite being ports, many of these games were optimized for more advanced hardware, like the PS5, the Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. The fact that these games are even coming to the Switch 2 to begin with is an achievement in and of itself, proving that Nintendo is a strong contender for third-party AAA games and should not be dismissed by developers and gamers as a kiddie platform like it was during the Wii and Wii U years. Heck, I remember one YouTuber who was quite critical of Nintendo a decade ago but became a convert when the original Switch launched. So I look at this lineup like that.
Definitely looking forward to Oblivion, Fallout 4, Indiana Jones, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It gives me confidence that, if these games (all of which are on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC) are capable of running on the Switch 2, then so can the games that I really want, such as Stellar Blade and especially Genshin Impact. Might as well throw in Halo: The Master Chief Collection or Halo: Campaign Evolved for extra credit.
For the record, I already play Overwatch 2 on my Switch 2, and I never had any problems with it (except for being unable to save my first-ever Play of the Game). So unless this is some major overhaul of the game to take advantage of features unique to the Switch 2, or bring it more in line with other versions of the game, or even add a Story Mode to it, I won't be holding my breath to see what new stuff for Overwatch 2 is coming down the pipeline.
Although, what would be nice is if you could get the ability to upgrade your characters through normal gameplay. I like to play as D.Va, for example, but it would be nice to upgrade the power of her weapons, improve her health and defense stats, amongst other things. Maybe then I'll be able take down some of my opponents who never seem to take damage, even when they are in the middle of my targeting reticle and should be getting hurt by my weapons.
@the_beaver I do know that there are more chapters in the Switch version, but I didn't get that far in the game. I got as far as Chapter 6 in the Wii U version and Chapter 9 in the Switch version, which means that I haven't even beaten the main story mode yet.
@Polvasti I don't really consider it a spoiler anymore, since the game originally came out over ten years ago for the Wii U and almost a year for the Switch version; a year is usually when the spoiler alert tag comes off for most forms of media, as far as I am aware. However, I based my initial comment on my understanding of the ending for the Wii U version. No idea about the Switch version, though, but I do know that there are added chapters to the main story mode, which I still have yet to beat; as I told the_beaver in the above paragraph of this comment, I'm only up to Chapter 9 on the Switch version, and Chapter 6 in the Wii U version, nowhere near close to beating the main story mode.
For me, I would love to see a Switch 2 port of Stellar Blade, but also confirmation that Genshin Impact will be coming to the system.
Especially the latter, since I hate having to play it on my phone when I am on the go; even though I have an iPhone 15 Pro, which I bought specifically to play resource-heavy games such as Genshin Impact, I have realized that I despise touchscreen controls when playing games that have complex gameplay and control schemes like Genshin Impact does.
For me, the ideal way to play a game like Genshin Impact is with a mouse and keyboard; however, I can handle a controller if need be. But as long as my save data from the other platforms will carry over to the Switch 2 version, and vice versa, I'll be happy.
What'd be nice is if we got a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles X. The kind of cliffhanger they left it on makes that story ripe for a continuation. Besides, we never did get the reason as to why the Mimeosomes in XCX were still able to function when the Lifehold Core ceased to operate.
And to think, just ten years ago, a bunch of people (from regular gamers to business analysts) were spelling doom and gloom for Nintendo, saying that they were going to go the way of Sega and pull out of the console market entirely, becoming a third-party developer for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Oh, how I wish I could go back in time and show them these numbers! Especially those who were the "I haven't been a Nintendo fan since the SNES" kinds of people and wanted to see Nintendo fail. They'd be eating crow for sure.
@Vyacheslav333 As cool as VRChat would have been on the Switch, given the kind of content and interactions that you can sometimes find in that game, I highly doubt Nintendo would have ever allowed it to come to the Switch to begin with.
As it is, the only people you can chat with via the Switch Online service are your friends; and that's contingent on you even having friends, much less friends who own a Switch, much less friends who own a Switch AND subscribe to the Switch Online service.
Hylia knows that I would have loved to have chatted with my teammates in Splatoon 3 during the Splatfests, to coordinate a strategy, but Nintendo--in their attempt to keep things kid-friendly--never implemented voice chat with anyone who wasn't your friend.
I didn't get any of these ones. Instead, I downloaded Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade from the eShop as part of that digital deluxe bundle, which came with the original Final Fantasy VII, a digital art book, and a mini-soundtrack.
Even though I preordered a physical copy of the game through Best Buy, it was taking forever for the rest of the game to download (since I discovered it was a game key card), and it kept pausing the download on me due to "server issues." My only guess was that it was because I was putting my Switch 2 into sleep mode.
So I finally said screw it, deleted the icon from the system (since that was the only thing that "downloaded"), and bought the digital deluxe bundle on the eShop. I plan on playing the original Final Fantasy VII first, then maybe spinoffs like Crisis Core, before finally getting into Remake Intergrade.
The reason being is, from what little I played of it on the PS4 and read about online, it does appear to be in a parallel universe, with Aerith apparently being aware of the original timeline and is trying to change it, thus making this more of a sequel that takes place in an alternate reality rather than a true remake of the original game.
In terms of the physical version that I bought, I might just end up giving it to my girlfriend if she wants it. Unlike most Switch 2 players, she's got no problem with game key cards. And she'll be able to experience the franchise that one of our former supervisors (who recently left the company we both work for to take up a teaching job) loves so much.
I dunno. The NA one looks kind of generic to me, despite being more colorful. Personally, I like the JP one better, because it feels more unique; you don't see many box arts where you see the pilot in their helmet, with their cockpit controls reflected off of their visor. So it's JP for me this time.
@CutMan003 There's a VTuber that I follow named Jorunna van de Zee who also loves Ditto. She's got an entire room dedicated to the Pokémon! If you've never heard of her, definitely check her out!
She's a Dutch VTuber who currently lives in Japan. She usually ends up streaming in the evening around 6:00 p.m. JST (which, for me, translates into around 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. where I live in America; it alternates due to Daylight Savings Time).
I don't know where in the world you live, but if you're able to catch one of her streams, I definitely recommend you do so. She loves playing older games, with her currently playing through Okami, Psychonauts 2, Planescape: Torment, Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys, and even the Banjo Kazooie games. In fact, she's doing a drawing stream right now!
@neogyo Honestly, I haven't even beaten the main story with DKB yet, much less got to the DLC. I keep telling myself that I'm going to play this game or that game today, and then I spend the entire day on YouTube, either watching anime clips, news reels, or listening to Reddit stories or those (sorry in advance for those who hate it) AI-generated stories. In my defense, however, the AI voice in those videos does help lull me to sleep; and as someone who has chronic sleep issues, I'll take any sleep aid I can get.
Honestly, I think video game stores might not be around for much longer, if the trends that we have seen with GameStop and GAME are any indication. Maybe another decade at most.
With the rise of digital game downloads and big-box retailers like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy (at least here in North America), plus the advent of online shopping through retailers like Amazon, specialty stores simply cannot compete.
But I think it also comes down to private equity firms stripping chains of any valuable assets and saddling them with mountains of debt, and finally making off like bandits when those companies inevitably collapse.
So really, it's a myriad of factors that are leading to the former titans of the video game retail industry going under. Sadly, it all comes back to the idea of focusing on short-term quarterly gains rather than long-term growth and investment.
If you keep focusing on the next few months, you lose sight of the bigger picture and fail to prepare for the next several years down the road. And everyone under the employ of those businesses suffer as a result.
A shame that Mickey Mousecapade isn't part of this collection. I want to play that one so bad. I'd be playing it while having the Game Grumps episode of that game play on a loop in the background. It's my favorite episode of theirs, because they're just constantly laughing throughout the video, Danny especially. He legit started wheezing, he was laughing so hard.
Eh, I don't know about these ones. I remember watching the Angry Video Game Nerd review Fire Dogs, and he didn't have many good things to say about it. Granted, I know his schtick is to dump on games (both figuratively and literally, even if the game is good), but the things he complained about with Fire Dogs are things that I have complained about with other games. I might just end up skipping this LRG release.
That is indeed pretty neat. It'd be fun to see the Angry Video Game Nerd review these ones, if only to help complete his review of the Virtual Boy (he actually did do an updated version of that episode to include Jack Bros., which he didn't own when he first filmed the episode).
Well, given that Nintendo doesn't usually announce Directs until a day or two before the actual broadcast itself, we will just have to wait and see. It would be nice to see what they've got coming down the pipeline.
Personally, I'm hoping for a Switch 2 port of the PS5 hit Stellar Blade (and maybe even amiibo of EVE, Lily, Adam, Tachy, and Raven), as well as confirmation that Genshin Impact is finally coming to the Switch 2.
I mean, it would be nice if Metroid Prime 2: Echoes could come to the Switch Online service. I never did get the chance to beat that game. It would also be nice if they could tweak the multiplayer mode so that you could play it online instead of locally. And I don't just mean with friends, but with anyone.
Likewise, I also hope that Star Fox: Assault will come to the service as well, also with online functionality for its own multiplayer mode where you can play with anyone.
Sadly, this is inevitable, for all of the old guard to retire. But I look at it this way: they wouldn't be retiring if they knew that they didn't place the franchises that they created in the hands of people capable of filling their shoes.
Heck, it's already happened with The Legend of Zelda: Shigeru Miyamoto stepped back from active development decades ago and handed the reins of the series over to Eiji Aonuma; some of the franchise's greatest games were under his leadership. If Miyamoto trusted Aonuma with one of the company's most beloved series, it only stands to reason that it will happen with the other franchises under Nintendo's belt.
Give me Sally Acorn, Bunnie D'Coolette, her husband Antoine D'Coolette, and Rotor the Walrus from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series by Archie Comics. Basically, most or all of the Knothole Freedom Fighters. Then I might consider buying the game.
Seriously, though: we need to give these characters more love and attention on the game side of the franchise. For how significant they were in the comics and even the SatAM cartoon series, it's practically a crime that none of them were featured in any of the games.
@JohnnyMind I think I'm DEFINITELY going to have to get the digital version on top of the physical version that I just got. I got a notification from Best Buy that they cancelled the digital preorder bonus that they added onto my order, which included the add-ons that were part of the digital version. Not a very happy person right now.
Does anyone know where this preorder bonus is available? Is it through the Nintendo eShop itself, or is it with any retailer? I know that I am getting some sort of preorder bonus with Best Buy, since I preordered it a while back. It's going to be e-mailed to me in a day or two.
I mean, for me, Genshin Impact is really the only game that I want to see make the jump to the Switch 2 at this point. While PC with a mouse and keyboard is my usual way of playing, I would rather use a controller over using a touchscreen if I have to play it on the go.
Besides, since the Switch 2 is more powerful than the PS4, and can even run some games for the PS5 (such as the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade--which is the PS5-enhanced version of Final Fantasy VII Remake--plus a rumored port of Stellar Blade), I figure that the system is powerful enough to handle the game.
Of course, this was based on information from several years ago, before HoYoverse increased the spec requirements when they released Natlan (and now we're on Nod-Krai, with Snezhnaya right around the corner, and Khaenri'ah another year-and-a-half or so out; and that's not even taking into account the Miliastra Wonderland game mode, which is basically yet another expansion to the game), so it's possible that not even the Switch 2 is capable of running the game, much less run it smoothly.
But if you ask me, I still think it came down to legal issues instead of technical issues. I say this because of the inclusion of Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn in the game and, more specifically, the precedent it set. While Sony might be amenable to the idea of the Horizon series and its characters appearing on rival platforms (case in point, Lego Horizon Adventures coming to the Switch), Nintendo is usually not.
It's almost a sure bet that HoYoverse would want to put a Nintendo character from one of their fantasy series such as The Legend of Zelda or Fire Emblem in the game (such as Link, Zelda, Marth, Roy, Ike, Robin, Corrin, or Byleth). And Nintendo would probably demand that such a thing remain exclusive to their own platform, which would mean that a Nintendo-specific version of the game would have to be built, basically defeating the purpose of cross-progression and cross-platform gameplay features that the game has.
So it's basically 50/50 as to whether or not Genshin Impact will come to the Switch 2. I mean, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it didn't, but it would still be nice to have, since it's basically on every other platform at this point, including Xbox Series X/S. Here's hoping they can make it work, both technically and legally.
It's not the worst game in the Metroid series, but I really don't consider it a Metroid Prime game. After all, it doesn't even have the Metroid Prime (or its humanoid form, Dark Samus) in it. It plays like a Metroid Prime game, but it really doesn't have much to do with the original trilogy. I say the same with Metroid Prime Hunters.
I don't mind NPCs, as I do want to see Samus interact more with other people in this world. She might be on her own a lot, but she should still interact with others, as we have seen in other games, as well as the various comics and manga that feature her. I want to see that human side of her more. It's why I liked Other M so much, despite all the flak it gets.
But I will never forgive how they did Sylux's character dirty in this game. I wanted him to be more of an anti-hero than a villain obsessed with power. Even his backstory was disappointing, where he disobeyed orders to hang back until Samus arrived, resulting in his squad getting killed. And then he has the gall to blame everyone else except himself for his arrogance and greed.
If I was the one writing the script for this game, I would have set it after the events of Fusion, where Samus is on the run after disrupting the Galactic Federation's bioweapons program for a second time. Sylux, who defected from the Federation out of protest over this program, would recruit her to end the program once and for all, bringing the Federation officials behind it to justice.
At the end of the game, they would encounter the culmination of the program: a clone of the original Metroid Prime, albeit without the weaknesses that the first one had. Sylux would sacrifice himself to give Samus the chance to land the finishing blow on both the creature and the program.
The Galactic Federation as a whole, once they learn of this program, pass legislation to forever ban the development and use of bioweapons, and hail Sylux and Samus as heroes for fighting for what was right and implement reforms to root out corruption in the Federation Council. This would also explain why Samus continued to work with them come the events of Dread.
So yeah, there were some major flaws with this game, mainly with the story and characters. On its own merits, it's a solid game, but I don't think it will be able to tie into a new story arc with the Metroid Prime series, just like how Hunters really didn't, either. But we'll see how they will take the story from here, if they decide to do so.
Well, I do still plan on buying a Blu-Ray version of the movie, preferably one with a digital copy (if it's included). After all, Netflix doesn't usually have bonus features, such as behind-the-scenes featurettes, blooper reels, commentary tracks, etc. But physical releases (and sometimes the digital copies) do.
@Yoshi3 I actually second that, especially when it comes to the Lego version of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It looks horrendous. If you ask me, the Mega Bloks version of the Enterprise-D (which I own, having gotten it for Christmas over 20 years ago) looked far more accurate to what we saw in the show than the Lego version.
It just seems like Lego has been getting lazy in terms of quality for their licensed sets lately. And that's a pity, because they had some beautiful sets back in the day, such as the 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer or the 10143 Death Star II, both from the Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Series. They actually looked like they came right out of the movies.
Although, depending on the quality, I would not mind a set from Twilight Princess, which is my favorite Zelda game. Maybe a UCS set of Wolf Link with Midna. Or maybe a UCS set of Midna in her true form; that would go nicely with my First 4 Figures statue of her.
@Hawkes142 I've already collected 100% of all items, including Energy Tanks. I made sure to do that before going up against Sylux.
I do try to dodge, but it is far more difficult than in the original Metroid Prime. Why they programmed it so that you had to double-tap the jump button to dodge when the original game was programmed dodges with just a single tap is beyond me.
I also just spam the regular Power Beam instead of using charge shots or missiles, since its damage output is quicker.
And when it comes to motion controls, I have those turned off, because I am not too keen on them for precision aiming. I am using the Switch 2 Pro Controller. Plus, the way I am set up in my bedroom, I can't really use the mouse feature on my Joy-Con 2s, since I have to lay on my bed to play the game, and the bed sheets will prevent the sensor from registering my movements properly (this already happens with my regular mouse when playing on my PC).
But thanks for your well wishes. Hopefully I will be able to beat Sylux soon, even with a Pro Controller!
Ultimately, it should be falling to the parents to monitor, regulate, and even restrict their children's playtime habits. I've seen way too many parents letting their prepubescent children playing games clearly meant for adults, such as Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Watch Dogs, etc. I have to resist the urge to be like, "What's wrong with you!? Do you not see that ESRB rating on the front of the box!?"
Even when employees at the (now closed) GameStop in my hometown would tell parents about all the content that is not suitable for children in the game, the parents get the game for their kids anyway. And then some come back to the store in a huff to return it due to that content, but have the audacity to blame the store employee for selling them the game, despite the clear warnings.
Like, I'm sorry, but if you're a parent, you need to act like one and start being responsible. Stop blaming everyone else around you for your neglectful approach to what kind of media your kid consumes. It only ends up ruining things for the rest of us.
@rvcolem1 Even without locking on and using free aim, Sylux is still kicking my butt. I'm going to have to use a walkthrough or a video tutorial to figure out how to beat him.
Yeah, turns out the GameStop in my hometown was one of those that also closed for good. Honestly, I think the last time I went there was to buy the Hyrule Edition of the Switch Lite that released alongside The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (plus a copy of that game).
I used to go there a lot, but I've been going less and less because of how they don't have as many games that interested me anymore. So much of it was replaced with non-gaming merchandise, that I honestly wondered if it could even be called a video game store anymore. If anything, I do most of my video game shopping at Best Buy now, or even online.
I know that GameStop has had its troubles in recent years (especially with the rise of digital game downloads), with quite a few people online spouting doom and gloom for the company, but I do have to wonder if this is finally going to be the death knell for what was once the titan of the video game retail industry.
I might be a little sad to see it go if it does (mainly because I could interact with like-minded people and talk shop about games), but with my store preferences having drifted in recent years, I'll be able to manage.
On the final Sylux fight now. I think the most frustrating part for me when it comes to the combat is almost the same complaint that I had with Star Fox Zero. Even when you are locked onto an enemy, you still need to move your targeting reticle to the weak spot to cause damage. It's an interesting concept in theory, but in practice, it makes things much more difficult, especially when enemies are moving around faster than you can get off a shot.
I don't know if that counts towards the gameplay being less accessible, but it is still frustrating. I mean, it did work a bit with Prime 3: Corruption on the Wii, but that's because the game was designed with motion controls in mind. But playing Prime 4: Beyond with a Pro Controller, it really makes me question whether or not precision aiming in the vein of Star Fox Zero's control scheme was a good choice for the game.
Along with Fallout, I would also love to see the entire Elder Scrolls series on the Switch 2. We've already got Skyrim and Blades, but I would love to see Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion (either the original or the remastered version) come to the Switch 2 as well.
I'd also love to see spinoffs like Battlespire, Adventures: Redguard, Castles, and maybe even the Travels games also come to the Switch 2. Heck, it would be just as cool if they could get The Elder Scrolls Online, as well! It would give me a reason to get back into that game, especially if they can implement cross-progression and cross-play.
Frankly, I'd rather have Halo on Switch 2 before Call of Duty. It'd be nice if they could get the entire series, from the first Halo game all the way up to Infinite. Even nicer would be if they could also get Campaign Evolved, but I doubt that would happen. I also hope they can have a robust multiplayer mode, with modes like Slayer, Firefight, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Infection/Flood, and my personal favorite, Grifball.
See, I remember 20 years ago when Lego came out with the Mindstorms NXT kit, which was a programmable robot; I remember seeing it in the Lego catalogues that we used to get in the mail. It was part of the larger Lego Mindstorms line, which I just learned started in 1998. I always wanted one, but never got it. Then again, I never did ask; I was more into the Bionicle sets at the time (and we're talking the OG Bionicle, not the reboot).
Sadly, they discontinued the line back in 2022. But this new brick does sound like an evolution of the Mindstorms concept. Maybe they can also make these programmable one day, being able to do so using the smartphone app. And hopefully it can inspire a new generation of kids to get interested in computer programming and robotics.
Persona's great and all, but I would love to see Atlus revive the Trauma Center series. It's been over 15 years since we've gotten the last entry in that franchise. We need Under the Knife 3, where we finally see Derek Stiles and Angie Thompson become a romantic couple. Also, have the cutscenes be fully animated, made by the same studio that made the Persona 4 anime!
As someone who initially went to college for aerospace engineering (although I didn't do very well in that program, hence why I switched to English), I totally get where Myles MacKenzie is coming from. He's got an engineer's personality and brain. Not everyone in a military organization is a soldier, after all, even if they have combat training. Ergo, I don't really have a problem with his character.
But I will admit, I haven't gotten very far in the game: I only just managed to get Vi-O-La a couple days ago. I still have a long way to go. I am only just now able to sit down and play it due to how busy my work schedule was this past month, due to the holidays. So we will see if my initial view of him holds.
For me, I would love to see a new F-Zero, a new Star Fox, and the first teaser trailer for the live-action Zelda movie. When it comes to third-party titles, I would love to see Stellar Blade make the jump to the Switch 2, was well as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Halo: Campaign Evolved (or maybe the Master Chief Collection is Campaign Evolved isn't possible), Hi-Fi Rush, Wanted: Dead, and finally Genshin Impact.
The thing is, if you want to sell your own console, you have to give customers a reason to buy it. That is where exclusives come in handy. By not having exclusives, you give customers less of a reason to buy your system over that of your competition.
This is why I think it is a colossal mistake for Microsoft to port Halo, their signature video game franchise, to the PlayStation. It only gives less of a reason for people to buy an Xbox. But at the same time, it only reinforces my belief that they are exiting the console market (despite their claims to the contrary), and becoming a third-party publishing powerhouse.
In regard to Sony, while the PlayStation is doing quite well by many standards, they are also making bone-headed decisions to port their exclusives to other platforms, such as PC (such as with Stellar Blade) and Nintendo (as we are going to very soon see with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade). Just like with Xbox, it will give people less of a reason to buy a PlayStation.
Let's just hope that Nintendo still has enough magic left up their sleeve to resist this trend and remain successful for quite some time. Of course, I do not necessarily want them to suddenly have a monopoly on the video game console market, but barring something catastrophic, they might be in the best position to remain the sole console manufacturer when all of their competition has pulled out, given their wealth of exclusives.
@neogyo Yeah, it didn't take me long, either, and I was also losing all of the matches in the event. It's a LOT more forgiving than the Splatfests from Splatoon; I find those to be such a chore now, that I've skipped the last several.
@neogyo I might just bring the game over to my girlfriend's house tomorrow (as in, Friday, December 26) so we can play it together. The bulk of my gaming today (Christmas Day) is going to be spent playing through the flagship event in Genshin Impact.

Re: Review: Mario Tennis Fever (Switch 2) - Slim For Singles, But An Addictive Core Gives It Online Legs
Was planning on avoiding this one anyway, as I've never been one for sports games to begin with (however, I can remotely tolerate baseball games, such as MLB Slugfest 2003, and maybe the occasional motocross game, like Freekstyle or Moto Racer).

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario Tennis Fever For Switch 2?
I really have no interest in the Mario sports games. Not even Mario Kart. If I'm going to play a Mario game, it's going to be from the Super Mario series.
Re: Talking Point: Age Of Imprisonment Could Inspire Next Zelda Game, Say Devs, But What Does That Mean?
Personally, I'm hoping for something with a bit more cohesive of a narrative, plus more hack & slash elements, with hordes of enemies to cut your way through. But we'll see.

Re: Kirby Air Riders New Event Starts This Week, Includes Kirby Santa Hat Reward
@neogyo Thanks for that. I mentioned it to my cousin's husband when we were at Christmas, and despite me insisting that I only use it as a sleep aid, he kept going, "AI bad." I'm paraphrasing, but that's what he meant.
Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch And Switch 2 Partner Direct Game In New Infographic
Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch And Switch 2 Partner Direct Game In New Infographic
Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch And Switch 2 Partner Direct Game In New Infographic
Re: Overwatch 2 Ditches The Number In Huge Overhaul, Switch 2 Version Announced
Re: Rumour: Xenoblade Chronicles Voice Actor Might Have Leaked Evidence Of A New Release
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct February Partner Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase Announced For Tomorrow, 5th February 2026
REALLY hoping that Genshin Impact finally gets a release date for the Switch 2! It’s about time that it makes the jump over to a Nintendo console!
Re: Rumour: Xenoblade Chronicles Voice Actor Might Have Leaked Evidence Of A New Release
Re: It's Official, The Switch Is Nintendo's Best-Selling Console Of All Time
And to think, just ten years ago, a bunch of people (from regular gamers to business analysts) were spelling doom and gloom for Nintendo, saying that they were going to go the way of Sega and pull out of the console market entirely, becoming a third-party developer for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Oh, how I wish I could go back in time and show them these numbers! Especially those who were the "I haven't been a Nintendo fan since the SNES" kinds of people and wanted to see Nintendo fail. They'd be eating crow for sure.
Re: Talking Point: Where's Your Nintendo Labo Now?
Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects (January 2026)
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Red Alarm (Virtual Boy)
I dunno. The NA one looks kind of generic to me, despite being more colorful. Personally, I like the JP one better, because it feels more unique; you don't see many box arts where you see the pilot in their helmet, with their cockpit controls reflected off of their visor. So it's JP for me this time.
Re: Pokémon Pokopia Switch 2 Pre-Order Bonus Revealed (North America)
@CutMan003 Yeah, she drew an OC, a humanoid bee lifeguard. Such a cute drawing!
Re: Pokémon Pokopia Switch 2 Pre-Order Bonus Revealed (North America)
Re: Kirby Air Riders New Event Starts This Week, Includes Kirby Santa Hat Reward
Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Reportedly On The Verge Of Collapse Once Again
Re: Disney Afternoon Collection Pops Up On Switch 1 & 2 eShop, Includes Two Additional Games
Re: Ren & Stimpy Are Getting A 7-Game Retro Collection, Courtesy Of Limited Run
Eh, I don't know about these ones. I remember watching the Angry Video Game Nerd review Fire Dogs, and he didn't have many good things to say about it. Granted, I know his schtick is to dump on games (both figuratively and literally, even if the game is good), but the things he complained about with Fire Dogs are things that I have complained about with other games. I might just end up skipping this LRG release.
Re: Two Cancelled Virtual Boy Games Coming To NSO In 2026, Including F-Zero Spin-Off
That is indeed pretty neat. It'd be fun to see the Angry Video Game Nerd review these ones, if only to help complete his review of the Virtual Boy (he actually did do an updated version of that episode to include Jack Bros., which he didn't own when he first filmed the episode).
Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct May Be Coming As Soon As Next Week
Well, given that Nintendo doesn't usually announce Directs until a day or two before the actual broadcast itself, we will just have to wait and see. It would be nice to see what they've got coming down the pipeline.
Personally, I'm hoping for a Switch 2 port of the PS5 hit Stellar Blade (and maybe even amiibo of EVE, Lily, Adam, Tachy, and Raven), as well as confirmation that Genshin Impact is finally coming to the Switch 2.
Re: Rumour: Switch Online GameCube Releases Might Have Been Leaked
I mean, it would be nice if Metroid Prime 2: Echoes could come to the Switch Online service. I never did get the chance to beat that game. It would also be nice if they could tweak the multiplayer mode so that you could play it online instead of locally. And I don't just mean with friends, but with anyone.
Likewise, I also hope that Star Fox: Assault will come to the service as well, also with online functionality for its own multiplayer mode where you can play with anyone.
Re: Industry Veteran Hideki Konno Has Apparently Left Nintendo After Four Decades
Re: Sonic Racing Open To Including More 'Deep Cut' Characters From Extended Sonic Universe
Re: Reminder: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade 'Limited Early Purchase Edition' Offer Ends Next Week
Re: Reminder: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade 'Limited Early Purchase Edition' Offer Ends Next Week
@JohnnyMind I might have to get both, then.
Re: Reminder: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade 'Limited Early Purchase Edition' Offer Ends Next Week
Does anyone know where this preorder bonus is available? Is it through the Nintendo eShop itself, or is it with any retailer? I know that I am getting some sort of preorder bonus with Best Buy, since I preordered it a while back. It's going to be e-mailed to me in a day or two.
Re: Feature: 40 Games We'd Love To See On Switch 2
Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime 4 And The Burden Of Being 'Good Enough'
Re: The Live-Action Zelda Movie Is Coming To Netflix
Well, I do still plan on buying a Blu-Ray version of the movie, preferably one with a digital copy (if it's included). After all, Netflix doesn't usually have bonus features, such as behind-the-scenes featurettes, blooper reels, commentary tracks, etc. But physical releases (and sometimes the digital copies) do.
Re: Zelda's Next Lego Set Might Have Been Leaked, Here's A First Look
Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Does This One Thing Better Than Any Other Nintendo Game
Re: Nintendo, Sony And Xbox Update "Safer Gaming" Principles
Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Does This One Thing Better Than Any Other Nintendo Game
@rvcolem1 Even without locking on and using free aim, Sylux is still kicking my butt. I'm going to have to use a walkthrough or a video tutorial to figure out how to beat him.
Re: GameStop Kicks Off 2026 By Reportedly Shutting "Hundreds" Of Stores
Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Does This One Thing Better Than Any Other Nintendo Game
Re: Rumour: Bethesda Is Reportedly Reviving Two More Fallout Games
Re: Poll: Which Call Of Duty Do You Want To See On Switch 2?
Frankly, I'd rather have Halo on Switch 2 before Call of Duty. It'd be nice if they could get the entire series, from the first Halo game all the way up to Infinite. Even nicer would be if they could also get Campaign Evolved, but I doubt that would happen. I also hope they can have a robust multiplayer mode, with modes like Slayer, Firefight, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Infection/Flood, and my personal favorite, Grifball.
Re: Lego Is Launching An Evolutionary 2x4 Smart Brick Featuring A Tiny Computer
Re: Atlus Opens Persona 30th Anniversary Website
Persona's great and all, but I would love to see Atlus revive the Trauma Center series. It's been over 15 years since we've gotten the last entry in that franchise. We need Under the Knife 3, where we finally see Derek Stiles and Angie Thompson become a romantic couple. Also, have the cutscenes be fully animated, made by the same studio that made the Persona 4 anime!
Re: Poll: So, Now The Dust Has Settled, How Did You Find Myles MacKenzie?
Re: Talking Point: Our 2026 Nintendo And Switch 2 Predictions
For me, I would love to see a new F-Zero, a new Star Fox, and the first teaser trailer for the live-action Zelda movie. When it comes to third-party titles, I would love to see Stellar Blade make the jump to the Switch 2, was well as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Halo: Campaign Evolved (or maybe the Master Chief Collection is Campaign Evolved isn't possible), Hi-Fi Rush, Wanted: Dead, and finally Genshin Impact.
Re: "If Mario Starts To Show Up On PlayStation, That's The Apocalypse, Right?" - Ex-PlayStation Boss Thinks Console Exclusives Are Still Important
