Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?

8.5-9 for me so far. At the beginning I wasn't jiving too much with Volt Forge. I dunno, it felt very linear and that I wasn't really "understanding" the layout, just kinda surging forward. Also, I have seen nothing but praise for the music but in this early part of the game I was finding the music overly loud and grating and "busy". I turned it down to like 70%. haha. Personally, I prefer music in these sorts of immersive games to be a bit more in the background and subtle. Like, if I was really in this world exploring I wouldnt have this music blaring in my ears. haha. Again, my preference. In fact I often turn down or even turn off music in immersive game experiences.

The desert is just fine so far. The bike doesn't feel very Metroid to me but it's fun enough.

Now, I know "it's a video game" but one sort of cognitive dissonance thing that has always kind of bugged me about Metroid is this: here is Samus thrown into this alien world and somehow she finds all these gadgets and bikes and morph ball passageways perfectly tailored to her. haha. This has always been a thing with Metroid but I feel like it's becoming a little more difficult to ignore for me. I know IT'S A VIDEO GAME but this is something I can't help but think about and I can't say I'm sure what a solution would be.

Anyways, the game is gorgeous and oozes quality. Really enjoying it.

@NinChocolate Same. Sure I'd love one but I'm not feeling extremely compelled. Partially the price (which I do think is reasonable, but still) and really not that many amazing reasons to have one at launch. Not a huge Mario Kart guy and if Prime 4 looks as good on Switch 1 as the remaster did, I'm perfectly ok with that. Fast Fusion does look great but not great enough to warrant the system just yet.

Re: Opinion: The Switch 2 Is A Powerhouse For The Price

People are making wayyyy too big a deal over the prices for all the Switch 2 stuff on the internet.. because of course they are. The only thing I find kind of silly if not unreasonable is charging $10 for the Nintendo Tour. Nothing else, considering all the economic factors and costs of development have me grabbing my pitchfork. Nintendo I think is bearing the brunt of a lot of frustrations.. bad timing I think.

I get that the controls probably were not suitable for everyone, but this was always one of my favorite games on the 3DS. Sweet graphics, story, epic bosses, etc. I think including the stand was a bad idea. I never used it, and if your game requires a dumb stand you probably should not make the game at all. Including the stand already put the idea in people’s minds that this was a “hard to control” game and was something of an admission right out of the gate.
