This is so unbelievably, insanely stupid. So the eshop can have all manner of vile, demonic, horrendous (etc etc) content and yet Nintendo says no to some cartoon penises? Just mind-blowingly idiotic.
I feel like this game has been sooo overlooked and it’s freaking amazing!! I’m 18 hours in and still have so much left to do (if I want to). I’m actually shocked that a game that looks, at a glance, kinda simplistic, is super deep, with so much to do.
Seriously, if you like Zelda games, difficult action-puzzle games (à la Celeste), Metroidvanias, you really need to check it out.
@Lumbins there is a remap option! Or at least swap. I swapped so that L1 is the scanner… so much better than having to reach up to that face button, IMO.
8.5-9 for me so far. At the beginning I wasn't jiving too much with Volt Forge. I dunno, it felt very linear and that I wasn't really "understanding" the layout, just kinda surging forward. Also, I have seen nothing but praise for the music but in this early part of the game I was finding the music overly loud and grating and "busy". I turned it down to like 70%. haha. Personally, I prefer music in these sorts of immersive games to be a bit more in the background and subtle. Like, if I was really in this world exploring I wouldnt have this music blaring in my ears. haha. Again, my preference. In fact I often turn down or even turn off music in immersive game experiences.
The desert is just fine so far. The bike doesn't feel very Metroid to me but it's fun enough.
Now, I know "it's a video game" but one sort of cognitive dissonance thing that has always kind of bugged me about Metroid is this: here is Samus thrown into this alien world and somehow she finds all these gadgets and bikes and morph ball passageways perfectly tailored to her. haha. This has always been a thing with Metroid but I feel like it's becoming a little more difficult to ignore for me. I know IT'S A VIDEO GAME but this is something I can't help but think about and I can't say I'm sure what a solution would be.
Anyways, the game is gorgeous and oozes quality. Really enjoying it.
At some point I will get a Switch 2, but for now I'll buy the Switch 2 version, play it on my OLED Switch 1, and then eventually maybe play it on my future Switch 2. BOOM.
Have we had any ACTUAL CONFIRMATION that this is going to run at 60fps like the Prime remaster did on Switch 1? I am assuming so but it'd be nice to have actual confirmation.
These are obviously amazing games but they really should have added a button that when held would automatically draw in the star bits. And also Yoshi's controls could have been mapped in some way.
I agree with some of the others.. I don't think this in ANY WAY "confirms" this will be "open world".. kinda a dumb premise for the article IMO. I have faith this will be awesome and people are way overreacting.
@Bigmanfan Umm that's fine and all, but how can you say a game "that big", and it's not even out yet and no one really knows how "big" it is? Also, it's funny that your username is "Bigmanfan", considering. haha
@NinChocolate Same. Sure I'd love one but I'm not feeling extremely compelled. Partially the price (which I do think is reasonable, but still) and really not that many amazing reasons to have one at launch. Not a huge Mario Kart guy and if Prime 4 looks as good on Switch 1 as the remaster did, I'm perfectly ok with that. Fast Fusion does look great but not great enough to warrant the system just yet.
People are making wayyyy too big a deal over the prices for all the Switch 2 stuff on the internet.. because of course they are. The only thing I find kind of silly if not unreasonable is charging $10 for the Nintendo Tour. Nothing else, considering all the economic factors and costs of development have me grabbing my pitchfork. Nintendo I think is bearing the brunt of a lot of frustrations.. bad timing I think.
Yeah the backwards compatibility excuse is rather lame. Who would actually make those connections?... welll since this is super it must be like the super nintendo which wasnt backwards compatible. That's giving the average consumer way too much credit.
I'll chime in with the chorus and say this is really cringey of Nintendo. It's like.. either make it small enough that you dont have to charge for it or don't do it at all. And if you charge $5 for it that also just seems petty. Not a good look any way you slice it.
Playing this now and I'm really enjoying it. However, the button mapping or lack thereof is a little maddening. Every button does the same thing. Insane that they don't have a "map" button at least.

Re: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Unveiled For Switch, Launching In 2026
I like the art style but it doesn’t necessarily feel like Castlevania to me. Still looks cool though.

Re: Review: Pipistrello And The Cursed Yoyo (Switch) - A Masterclass In Retro, Zelda-Style Game Design
This game is so good. For anyone on the fence and reading this, just get it. One of my all timers.
Re: Mystery Product Code Sparks Rumours Of A New Switch 2 Model
@BrewsterTea yeah but what do you do with the clamshell? I mean you wouldn’t put a second screen on there so it would just be a piece of plastic? Haha
Re: Mystery Product Code Sparks Rumours Of A New Switch 2 Model
Give me the Lite but with a bigger OLED screen and… I’ll buy it 🤓
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th January)

Re: "This Just Didn't Fit Into My Gaming Lifestyle" - Hideki Kamiya Isn't Happy About Switch 2's Lack Of A D-Pad
@Reprise exactly. One of the reasons I haven’t picked up a Switch 2. No d-pad, but hey, we have mouse controls!! 🙄

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?
@SuperWeird yup, I agree on the music, at least early on. In Volt Forge it was really grating on me

Umm.. what the heck? To me 3D All Stars looks better in a lot of cases. Pause the video at 6:35.. look at the red roof. ?

Re: DOOM + DOOM II Is Getting A New Limited Run Collector's Edition For $666
@sanderev This. I feel like superfluous stuff like this is just such a waste of resources, creating more pollution, etc etc

This looks great. Really like the Blasphemous games
Re: New Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Trailer Highlights Smoothie Making, Horse Riding, And Waypoints
This looks awesome. Just hope it improves on the framey-ness of Link's Awakening. I'm not a framerate snob but that game I found offputting

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want To Reuse Your Joy-Con On 'Switch 2'?
@-wc- This. Why would you prioritize local multiplayer and sacrifice a proper D-Pad?
