Re: Feature: 10 Years On, Is Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival Really That Bad?

Okay, here is my DIY Board game I made based on Amiibo Festival .
Untitled

As you can see, there are some panels I borrowed from Amiibo Festival such as Happy +, Money +, Happy - , Money -, but the other panels are my original ideas to be designed for Math Club activity.
The Question Boxes have two different colors: Yellow for getting Extra Money, Purple for getting extra Happy Points.

The Treasure Box & Fishing Area are based on Amiibo Festival events but I made Treasure Box have more Money than Happy Points while Fish creatures have more Happy points than Money.

People forgot if Amiibo Festival is board games & mini games compilation, not a mainline Animal Crossing.
Just because Amiibo Festival as a spinoff, it doesn't mean the gameplay is terrible.
The mandatory of using Amiibo to play was indeed unnecessary, but the board games gameplay itself was pretty good.
Desert Island Escape was actually pretty challenging as the surprise event from the animal ambush can be frustrating if you play with weaker personality animals. The best team for Desert Island Escape = Cranky + Jock + Rooney.
I personally give the score 6 from 10 for Amiibo Festival.
It's not a bad game, it's a decent board game and mini game.
People need to look at this game from different perspective.
I used my different perspective from Amiibo Festival to be applied into actual board games that I can make by myself with DIY board game and some new rules to improvize the gameplay.
I would like to see Amiibo Festival DELUXE or sequel of Amiibo Festival with optional of using Amiibo.

Btw, I forgot to take picture of my DIY board game inspired from Amiibo Festival.
I will upload the photo several hours later after I found my DIY Board game.

Happy 10th anniversary of Amiibo Festival! 😄

I played this game on my Wii U machine since pandemic 2020.
Most people hate this game, but I like this game for some reasons.
The board games from Amiibo Festival (with calendar events) was actually inspiring me to make my own board game for Math Club activity with some of the rules from Amiibo Festival (Get Happy points, get money, lost happy / money) added with my new rules to be fit with Math Club such as Question Box so I will ask my students to answer the Math question from me and they will get the Happy Points or Money as the reward for correctly answered.
At the end of the game, I will accumulate the points from Money to be converted into Happy Points with same rule 1000 G = 1 Happy Point.
The Team which get the highest Happy Point is the Winner.
My students like it and some of them are very competitive.

Oh, also the other board game Desert Island Escape from Amiibo Festival was pretty good and can be made into physical board game.

And that's why I felt irritated.
When I saw a lot of 3rd party games on Switch 2 got game key card, it turned me off.
I don't want to support that practice.
I want a legit game card purchase, not an empty cartridge that I have to download and use internet connection to activate the games.
Some people don't care with game key card, but I really refuse to support that practice.
It gave me very limited choice for the 3rd party games with game card I can pick.
If I don't have that much choice to play 3rd party games in game card, why should I feel happy with Switch 2 situation?
I'm not drinking kool aid and pretending how wonderful is Switch 2 when I literally see the flaws like that.
I didn't say I hate Switch 2.
I still give one more chance for Switch 2 by providing more 3rd party games in game card since I prefer getting more 3rd party games than 1st party games.
I still have some interest with 1st party games like Mario, ACNH, ARMS, but my interest level with 3rd party games is way bigger than 1st party games.

But I heard PS Portal was like Wii U gamepad with limited radius to play.
The PS5 machine still have to be turned on to play PS Portal and required constant internet connection to play.
Also, I played my PS5 games with physical disc so I don't think PS Portal will appeal me with non physical games option and requiring internet connection for Offline games.

That's because Switch 2 great sales also built from game key card issue for almost their 3rd party games.
And it made people will keep purchase the game key card, it was irritating me as physical games collector because I couldn't even get proper physical games for 3rd party Switch 2 games and it forced me to consider the PS5 version instead for having fully physical games on disc.
I really depended on 3rd party games, not by 1st party games since I grew up by 3rd party kids games so i was expecting the kids games I want get proper treatment for their physical games especially for the genre I have the most interest like Story of Seasons, Fantasy Life (Thank goodness, their games are in game card, but still gave me limited option to buy from Switch 2).
I don't feel overhyped by typical 1st party games like Mario, Kirby, Zelda, etc since I didn't grow up by them so I have less priority with them.
So, to see Switch 2 sales built with the flaws, it made me think the situation was unfair when I compared with PS5 that can delivered the kids games in stable smooth 60 fps like Bluey, Barbie, etc with their non portability and made me liking more PS5 than Switch 2. Some people like Nintendo gamers don't really care with 60 fps but I do care, it's really serious matter for me. Some people liking portability but I prefer non portability for certain machines for some reason when the portability like Switch 1 & 2 really disappointing me from their 3rd party games performance.
That's why I still being cranky with Switch 2 situation, started from their introduction of game key card, the Nickel and dime of every nook and cranny, the battery life issue, the unappealing starter color machine (Black is not my favorite color for video games), it turned my curiosity of Switch 2 suddenly became disappointment.
It still hurt my feelings.

Oh, here is the thing.
I only play 3rd party kids games on my PS5 by 99% such as Bluey, Barbie, Paw Patrol, Fantasy Life, Hello Kitty, etc.
I still got a lot of choice of kids games for PS5, I mean too many of them.
Hey, I'm different audience here.
I buy PS5 just for playing 3rd party kids games, don't even like nor even care AAA adult games.

I just think Switch 2 great sales was built from brand / blind loyalty, not by common sense.
Game key card is NOT the thing to celebrate from Switch 2.
What is the point to see Switch 2 success that built from trash treatment for 3rd party games with game key card option that can be abused by greedy games companies like EA, Ubisoft, etc to cheap out?
I would rather defending PS5 despite of lower sales but offering more physical games in disc for 3rd party games. I'm here talking about 3rd party kids games, not the AAA games for adults.
Also, I will not call Switch 2 great sales as a success. It was an unfair situation in my opinion.
Even if someday I will get Switch 2 machine, I will not consider Switch 2 as a REALLY REALLY THE BEST OF ALL machine in the world. It just an overrated machine that being overhyped by popularity. You know that I couldn't care less with popularity and would rather defending the underrated like PS5.

I don't think Switch 2 deserve for big sales when their 3rd party games are mostly sold in game key card.
This is not something I will celebrate from Switch 2.
The machine power is great, but the price and the game key card are not.
Do I happy to see big sales from Switch 2?
NO.
That's because the big sales from Switch 2 built from blind / brand loyalty, not by common sense.
But will I still want to get Switch 2 someday?
Yes, but if only there is White bundle and new Animal Crossing for Switch 2 then I will be less cranky with Switch 2.
Will I keep call Switch 2 as the best machine?
Definitely NO. I still consider PS5 is better than Switch 2.
