In contrary, I thought both Mario movies (2023 and 2026) were great in my opinion.
8 from 10 for both of them.
I have watched Super Mario Galaxy movie for NINE times at my local cinema XXI and will try to watch again for TEN times before the digital release appear.
I'm already sold with ideas of Mario have voice acting, storyline, the plot twist, more intimate Mario & Luigi brotherhood relationship, Peach kick ass the bad guys, etc.
During watching the movies, I really really want a new 3D Mario games just like the movie version with powerful graphic level as PS5, voice acting and huge open world exploration. I will enjoy that new Mario game than the older Mario games.
Maybe because I didn't grow up by 1st party Nintendo games when I was teenager, I have different perception and expectation bar level that I got from 3rd party games I played.
If I compared Super Mario Odyssey with Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time or Rift Apart, Super Mario Odyssey storyline was suck, with typical boring damsel in distress plot yet at the end Princess Peach rejected both Bowser & Mario proposal.
The storyline from Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time was very touchy to see Ratchet lost his dad when he was young, the sacrifice of General Alister to save Ratchet, it made me have more compassion with Ratchet.
The other games like Sly Cooper 2 have very dramatic storyline which Bentley leg got crushed by Clockla giant beak and it caused permanent disability. That's the power of storyline that made me have compassion with the characters.
Meanwhile, I didn't even have any compassion with Mario from their current and older games because of lack of strong storyline and dramatic moments but I got the compassion from Mario movie version because I saw more dramatic storyline that made me like Mario more from movie version than game version.
I'm different.
That's why I don't have very strong engagement with 1st party Nintendo games because of my experience from 3rd party games that set my expectation bar really high.

I do care both gameplay and storyline.
That's my standard in judging the games.
Guess because I grew up by 3rd party games which have voice acting, my expectation bar have set really really high.

PS5 (with disc drive) is on number 6 and 7.
I see some bigger sales number this week.
Keep going, PS5.
And Tomodachi Life too.

Not yet.
I still on the fence, keep watching whatever happened to Switch 2.
But since I already have PS5 machine and DQ 11 already have Definitive Edition on PS4, I can use the PS5 advantage to get stable 60 fps performance.

PlayStation style controller is still my best choice with symmetrical analog buttons at the bottom.

PS4 version (and being played on PS5 machine) is already enough for me so not gonna pick Switch 2 version.

Well, hopefully it will happen.
Nothing wrong to see Mario games have voice acting, dramatic / extraordinary scenes, Peach kick some butts, Bowser has some artistic skills, Bowser Jr can be very dangerous with his dark brush, Mario & Luigi more intimate relationship, etc. That's make Mario games more alive, more humane.
My personal opinion, even Super Mario Odyssey the storyline was suck despite of the gameplay was better than older Mario games. Damsel in distress plot, silent characters, those are not interesting for me anymore.

Well, I still prefer Mario games have voice acting, Princess Peach can kick some butts (already happened from Princess Peach Showtime), The world based on movie version, etc. That's my new standard and my experience from other games like Ratchet & Clank PS5 have set my expectation bar really really high.

But that was my personal opinion.
You might dislike my opinion but I personally prefer new personality in Super Mario Galaxy movie and the reason I have watched the movie until NINE times indicated I got engaged with new assignment of Rosalina relationship, the inclusion of Fox McCloud, the doubt from Bowser to stay evil or being nice, etc.
I want to see the new Mario games have those movie standard, I willbuy the game and enjoy much better than the older games released.
Again, it's my personal opinion.

But I personally really want next Mario games have graphic, voice acting and new personality like movie version.
It's more humane for me than the older games version.
I didn't even feel impressed from older Mario games storyline, even Odyssey. But the movie version by ILLUMINATION, I felt more personality that looks better than the games version.
I like this new direction.

But I like Fox McCloud new personality in Mario Galaxy movie which he can be overdramatic when his space ship got damaged. That's more humane for me than being on older games.
I prefer this new personality of Fox McCloud for someone who have never played Star Fox games, only got two Star Fox games on GameCube + Wii U just for curiosity.

I will try to watch again for TEN times at my local cinema XXI before 5 May 2026, then mission accomplished.

I'm not crazy with Mario Sunshine since I didn't grow up by GameCube games during my teenhood in 2000's era and when I got the 3D All Stars version, I was disappointed by the FLUDD control that was way harder to aim than aiming the gun from Ratchet & Clank games.
I sold the 3D All Stars long time ago, didn't even care with Mario Sunshine with very gimmicky gameplay.

I have watched HOPPERS by Disney Pixar for TEN times at my local cinema XXI last time and it was surprisingly great movie after my disappointment from ELIO, Snow White 2025 and Lilo & Stitch live action last year.

I don't have bias with certain animation studio.
Pixar or DreamWorks or ILLUMINATION can deliver their good kids movies when they got right director and right story writer.
They can either make good movies or bad movies, depend on the story choice.
I personally prefer Pixar movies than other studios movies for delivering movies that fit for my taste despite some of Pixar movies was also bad for my taste.
I mostly don't like movies by DreamWorks because they can really allegedly put inappropriate jokes like the way they put in Trolls movies, but Trolls Band Together was my best DreamWorks movie I have ever watched.
I never like Minions, Despicable Me from ILLUMINATION, but when they handled Mario movies, they did really well and that's why I like to watch Mario movies so far.

My personal score for Super Mario Galaxy movie was 8 from 10 since first time watching.
I have watched for NINE times at my local cinema XXI since 1 April 2026 until yesterday 26 April 2026 and I will try to watch again for TEN times on this week.

Btw, for other movies, WICKED part 1 was 8 from 10 when I watched for first time, but I slowly increased the score until 9.5 from 10 when I have watched more than 5 times and I have watched the part 1 for TEN times and WICKED FOR GOOD was 9 from 10 and I have watched the most, SIXTEEN times.

Also, I really want the next 3D Mario games really like the movie version, with the voice acting, the detailed graphic like PS5 power, the open world style exploration, a little bit crossover or cameo from other Nintendo IP as long they are match with storyline.

The movie was great so I watched it multiple times.

I have watched Super Mario Galaxy movie for eight times, will watch again this Sunday.
It was great movie for me, I like the references from other Mario games and some brief cameo from other Nintendo games.

Yes, of course.
I pay attention with storyline to understand what is going on.
The gameplay might be not really my cup of tea but if storyline is good enough, it will balance with the gameplay.
Btw, I only have Tri Force 3DS and Wind Waker Wii U for the Zelda games I have.

FF XII is one example for me, great gameplay but very boring storyline. Not even memorable than FF X/X-2.

I personally prefer Peach and Rosalina are sisters.
It gaves clear relationship between characters.

Actually I like the idea Rosalina and Peach are sisters with their cosmos power.
And I like to see the brotherhood of Mario & Luigi in the movie than the game version.

Well, I have both of Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard but I almost never touched them.
Star Fox Zero control was very confusing for me with Wii U gamepad.
The tower defense from Star Fox Guard was actually quite interesting, but I still felt the gameplay didn't look appeal enough.

Oh, here in Indonesia the movie ticket is fairly cheap.
The cheapest price is 25K IDR and the most expensive is 55K IDR.
By current exchange rate:
25K IDR = US$ 1.45
55K IDR = US$ 3.20

We have CINEMA XXI for the place to watch movies.
The price ticket for different Cinema XXI location is also different.
The cheapest price is from Cinena XXI inside the "dead" Malls and the most expensive is located at pretty busy Mall since they have 8 rooms, some The Premiere / 3D / IMAX rooms, larger monitor size, more seats, better sounds (DOLBY ATMOS) and bigger cinema building size.
Usually I picked the Cinema XXI with ticket price 30K IDR and nearest Cinema XXI location from my home as possible during Monday until Thursday.
Sometimes I watched on Saturday on Sunday if the schedule forced me to watch the movies on those days.
Ticket price is the cheapest during Monday through Thursday, a little bit expensive on Friday, more expensive on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Different Cinema XXI location also affects the movies choice and schedule.
Cinema XXI which located inside Malls with a lot of native Indonesian people will prioritize more local movies than foreign movies.
Cinema XXI which located on super busy Malls with more Chinese Indonesian people will prioritize more foreign & anime movies than local movies.
Well, that's our cinema in Indonesia.

I don't have the game yet, but I think it will be 8 from 10 for me.
It will be very interesting game for me like ACNH, but without ability to send the screenshots with QR code to handphone is kinda bummer, so I cannot give 9 from 10.

I think Tomodachi Life will get some new contents like ACNH.

I wonder if they have older Nintendo games for sale like Wii, Wii U, NDS, 3DS games.
