Re: What Comes After Switch? Nintendo Discusses Plans For Future Game Consoles

Aneira

There is no doubt they will continue with a hybrid console next generation. The interesting thing to be seen is whether they can make sure not to fall too far behind technology and performance wise compared to the dedicated consoles.

It is actually quite remarkable that the Switch has pulled of such success, when it's no better performance wise than the now 15 year old Xbox 360.

@ThanosReXXX
I have to say that all this "backwards compatible" really sounds much better than it really is. The 360 was backwards compatible, but only very few original Xbox games actually played and performed like they should. A lot of great games didn't even start up, like Silent Hill 2 and Legacy of Kain.
What I'm trying to say is, that never again will I fall for "backwards compatible" as a reason to choose one console over another. Neither should any one else. I bet all my dimes on history to repeat itself on that front.

The first one for Wii U blew me away. That game was so fresh that I couldn't believe it. I played so many hours and I got really good at it. Almost every stage was perfect and the variety was great.
For some reason I didn't feel the same way about the 2nd game for Switch. Nonetheless my memories of the first game will serve as some of the best in my 30 years of console gaming experience.

Thank you Splatoon and congratulations.

@PoeTheLizard
To me Morrowind was by far the best of them all. I hope to see something like it, but I'm afraid you're right, that it is never going to happen. I would like to say "but alas, how can one top perfection" but Morrowind was not perfect. Far from it actually. Not even for it's time. But it had something not many games of that size has....soul. That special feeling of something divine.

At what point did Bethesda become a developer to hate?

They made some of the best games through the years. Of course there will be ***** games once in a while. It might even have been a little more "in a while" than "once" lately. No one told you to buy all games from a specific developer. That's hardly ever a sane choice.

But at the end of the day it all comes down to whether they can pull it off with the next Elder Scrolls entry. Elder Scrolls VI.

That is their main franchise. Every entry so far has been a true masterpiece. I think we at least owe them a chance to show us that they are all-in once again. Skyrim was the most expensive game ever to develop at the time it came out. For all I know, it might still be. I think they still go for all or nothing with the main series of this franchise. It seems to have been the case so far.

I have to agree with what @kukabuksilaks wrote.
I'm from Denmark and my experience with Bergsala is way below par as well. Nintendo should indeed have cut ties with them long ago.
All in all I do not like that this article sort of hails Bergsala. It might have been important back then in the 80's, but that's history. They suck now.
