Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

Aneira

@StAmbrosius

C64 is a computer, not a console. Thus you have been playing computer games, not video games.
I dont remember my first computer game other than it was on the VIC20.
My first video game was either Petch or Pacman in the Arcade. First console game was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for NES. That game sold me on the console 👍

All controllers in the world get drift problems at some point when enough dust slips inside. Some are just designed better, so that it happens much later.
I've had my joycons since 2017 and none of them drifts. I never really use them either, but my Pro Controllers, which I use all the time have drift issues.

Re: Review: Fall Guys - The World’s Most Chaotic Game Show Lands On Switch, Now F2P

Aneira

I realize my comment might have come across as solely flaming Fall Guys as a game, potentially provoking users who like the game. That was not the intention.

I never apologize. I'm sorry, but that's just who I am. (Simpson's quote)

I will try again.

I played the game a lot on PS4 a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was also quite good at it, which often helps a lot in liking these type of games.

I mostly enjoy playing games on Nintendo Switch. Not handheld though, only play in docked mode on the big screen. So I was looking forward to playing Fall Guys again on Switch embracing all those crowns I had no doubt was waiting for me.

Yes, the servers are obviously under severe pressure and it takes a long time getting a game going, but that's not the point. I can accept all that.

I finally got a game going and got a 2nd place. It's also not about not winning and being a sore loser. It's the flow of the game on Switch. It's probably an okay/fine experience if you've only played it on Switch. But coming from playing a lot of Fall Guys on PS4, I found the game on Switch nearly unplayable in comparison. Not because the menu lags like *ss, but because the flow in game feels like constant frame drops. You will know this if you have played it on another platform. Being crossplay it's like facing Goliath with David, only this time David's slingshot is broken.

A perfect example is the stage "Hex-A-Gone". On other platforms you can easily navigate your... (what are they called? Guys?)... around the hexes in a precise maneuver clearing alle hexes before dropping down to the next level. That is NOT possible on Switch. Turn your guy and he's already left the hex before your input is registered on screen.

The game should have no problem running just as fine on Switch. We've seen much meatier games run fine, so I think it's lazy and unprofessional by the developers. Either they are just not skilled enough at making a proper port or they just don't care. It's not like they haven't had plenty of time to get it running.

Re: Gallery: Square Enix Shares Brand New Screenshots Of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion

I played FF7 back when it released. It was massive and the best game I've ever played at that place in time. It also happened to be my first experience with a Final Fantasy game.
I bought FF8 straight after and that was no where near the same delightful experience I had with FF7.

The funny thing is though, when I finally played FF6... I think 2010 maybe... so many years after it's release. Dated graphics etc. I still felt... even in 2010... that FF6 was a better game. To this day it still ranks as my favorite in the entire series.

(Ps... I like the FF13 trilogy and I hate FF15.
Different strokes for different folks, as they say)

Re: Review: Mario Strikers: Battle League - Simply The Best Sports Game On Switch

Aneira

I played Fifa yesterday (22) for the first time since Fifa 15 (which was actually a great Fifa entry). How did they manage to ruin a perfectly fine footie game so much? It's beyond embarrassing. It was zero fun. Dead zero. I'd rather tend to the garden or clean someone elses car than play that again.

Mario Strikers looks like the best football game we can hope for these days. And it's not even a real football game. Says it all.

Re: Star Wars: KOTOR II Receiving Limited Run Games Physical Switch Release

Aneira

@Shambo
That's not quite how their limited print works.
It's not a fixed amount. It's an open preorder which means quantities are in fact not limited but unlimited until the preorder window closes. At that point the amount is fixed and sent for manufacture at Nintendo. The more copies they sell, the more money they make.

The pros for this model is that everyone can get a copy opposed to the model Super Rare Games uses.

The cons for this model is you won't get your game shipped anytime soon. Most likely between 9-12 months after you have paid.

Re: Hands On: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Is Looking Like A Mighty Meaty Hunk Of DLC

Aneira

I hope we see a lot more new and/or returning monsters besides the 9 which we know about at this point.

A usual rule of thumb for a Monster Hunter G-Rank expansion is about 20-30 new monsters on top of base game.

Also we really, I mean really!... need some good siege battles. Nothing comes close to the greatness of Jhen Mohran from 3U. Rise is lacking those kind of quests.
