Re: Forget The European Super League, True 'Football Drama' Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Aneira

@Entrr_username
It was indeed a selfish arrogant idea, which nobody wanted besides the big dukes themselves. It was only about the money and totally undermined all that football stands for in it's beauty. That David, although tiny as it is, always has a chance to take out Goliath. They tried to destroy that.
These 12 clubs has damaged their reputation and it does not look like the fans are forgiving so easily.

Re: Review: Monster Hunter Rise - A New Apex For Capcom's Beastly Franchise

Aneira

So... I have now put in between 50-100 hours in Rise. And although it does seem like one of the best Monster Hunter games in the series, I have one major complaint - and I'm disappointed that the review mentions nothing of it. Maybe the reviewer hasn't really played other games in the series to full extend or maybe he is just not that skilled.

Anyway... the major complaint is that the game is WAY TOO EASY. It's beyond ridiculous. Taking down monsters takes around 5-10 minutes compared to older games in the series which would take in comparison 4 times as long.
Monster Hunter games is supposed to be hard or at least not easy. It is supposed to require skill and forces you to pay attention at all times. I don't feel that's the case here. I have yet never experienced a quest abandoned cause of 3 faints. When a game is too easy, you don't feel rewarded when you succeed a hunt.

I'd like to know your opinion on this matter. There's no way I can be the only one with this feeling.

Re: Japan Voted On Final Fantasy's Best Games And Characters - Do You Agree With The Ranking?

Aneira

@Barbara001
In that case well played. Your opinion is obviously very valid. We all have different ways of enjoying a gaming experience. For me, the story is everything. I started with VII all those years ago and was blown away. The story was something special that I had never experienced before. I followed up with VIII and was very disappointed. Sure if you like your odd love story, but it lacked tension and lots more. Poor sequel to the series. I dropped out due to the fact that I owned other systems than Playstation and played the former on PC, so didnt play another FF game until I purchased an overpriced copy of FF6 for SNES. That was perhaps my greatest FF experience of all time. It was magical. Everything about it. I would love to see a modern remake of that one.
I also own 4 on SNES but havent gotten to it yet. Maybe I should do it soon. A few years ago I was given a pink Playstation 2 at my birthday so that I could experienve FF XII. Im still not sure if their intension was to mock me as I have always deliberately avoided Sony consoles. I played through it and was somewhat disappointed at my friends praisel. You see, when you have played through VI and VII, you come to expect too much of the series. I play them cause I dont like reading books, but want the same powerful storytelling experience. XIII trilogy I played through and actually enjoyed and Im not sure why. A lot of things I disliked, but overall I enjoyed the experience and even thouhg the story was somewhat weak, it kept me interested through the lore. I liked it much more than XV, so when everyone else was putting XIII down, my expectations for XV could nothing but rise.
Im holding back on FF7 Remake until the whole trilogy is released. Im sure I will enjoy it. Dont know why so many talk about VII being overhyped. If you didnt experience the game around its initial release, of cause you will feel its overhyped. When you see graphics from another age you need the nostalgia to be able to enjoy it I believe. It will be interesting to the what they come up with for XVI. I just feel they need better writers.

Re: Round Up: The Monster Hunter Rise Reviews Are In

Aneira

@Ludovsky
I welcome Chameleos. I've never played handheld and Tri was my first introduction to the series (loved 3U). My first encounter was in GU which I for some reason had a better experience with than World. Probably to do with there being far more content in GU. I also felt world was a step back compared to GU where I've just gotten used to the Hunter Arts. Mobility felt far worse in World. It did get better down the line though. It could also be because I'm a GS wielder. Anyway... Chameleos was fun and felt different to most other fights.
I still dream of a return of Jhen Mohran, although I'm aware I'm short of support there. For me it was one of the better large monster fights. I really hope there are some good ones in Rise. (No spoilers please). Zorah Magdaros was boring.

I dig what you're getting at with adding to low rank. But I'm not sure it will do much good for current hunters, since you're over powered. I didn't even know you could transfer your save game from Tri to 3U. It must have been exclusively to handheld as Wii > Wii U seems impossible.

Good luck friday. It's my first pre-order in years. Never understood the point. Now I do

Re: Ape Out Is Getting A Fittingly Stylish Physical Edition On Switch

@RupeeClock
Yeah, so what have we learned from the Smoke and Sacrifice incident? Only make deals with games that are actually good games.
I purchase a lot of Limited print games, but not all of them. I am in no way a collector that must have a complete set. I only buy if the games are good and worth the coin. That's why they should think carefully about which games they actually choose to publish.

Sadly this strategy doesn't affect publishers like Limited Run Games with their open pre-orders. That also reflects their lineup. Some real crap in between.

Re: Ape Out Is Getting A Fittingly Stylish Physical Edition On Switch

@RupeeClock

Depends if the numbers of stock left is truthful, which I highly doubt. Super Rare Games stock usually goes to under 10% within the first hour and then stays there for weeks. Could be truthful... but I see profit from faking these numbers. Makes potential buyers dig in before thinking twice.

I have to say that I prefer the way Limited Run Games and Iam8bit does it. Open unlimited pre-orders for a set period.
I do get why other people dislike it, cause it means they don't have the games in stock and you could wait up to a year before receiving your purchase. But I've never been in a rush to play a game, so for me it's better. I do think Super Rare Games does a far better job with the extra stuff contained with each release and as I'm European too, they are cheaper for me... or was cheaper... darn Brexit.

@RupeeClock
It did say that pre-orders opened 12:00 PM CT. I don't remember if it said so directly on the site, which it should have, or if it were on their Twitter channel.

However I rushed in to get one, fearing they would sell out in minutes, but as always they're still available the following day. I'm unsure as to whether these Limited Print companies tells the truth as to how many copies actually are available. I suspect that they report a way lower number than they in fact have, just to make people enticed to buy. I don't like it at all. It's an unclean tactic. Sadly I still suffer from FOMO, so I'm always on the losing side regardless of what I do.

Re: EA Job Listing Suggests Madden Could Be Coming To Switch

Aneira

I never want to support EA again. They have effectively killed the sports game genré. We will never see a good football game again. Yeah, I'm actually talking world football now (soccer), not American football. Sorry for the cross-reference.

Edit: And the reason is a combination of licensing and their microtransactions.
The risks are too high and thus there are no value for other companies to try and make a game that's better than FIFA, which should no longer even be too difficult. But the licensing on clubs, players, leagues etc. puts consumers off and too many are addicted to the trading card game. When was the last time we saw a good sports game? Yeah... no one remembers. It's been that long.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For March And April 2021

Aneira

After putting in 400+ hours in Tri Ultimate, an additional 400+ in Generations Ultimate and just a few days ago done and dusted World for 800+ hours I should be anything but ready. This is when you pick another genré for a healthy change, right? Wrong! We're doing it all over again baby! Time to give Magnamalo a high five... to the face... with my greatsword.

Re: Talking Point: Are You A Player Or Collector?

Aneira

I try (and want) to be both.

I don't think I suffer just one illness though. I obviously play too many hours a day from a physical health point of view. But I also suffer massively from a mental illness by purchasing more than I can play.

I have collected so many games now, that it's too late to stop. So instead I promised myself, that once this Nintendo console generation is gone I will never ever again purchase games before I actually intend to play them right there and now.
Also I promised myself that I will flip the bird at next gen and focus on catching up. I still have Commodore 64 games on the "to do list", so it's not looking good. You're welcome to root for me though
