Interesting! Hollow Knight is a genuine masterpiece in my opinion, and I downloaded Silk Song when I got my Switch 2 for Christmas. However, I’ve been loving Mario Kart World so much I had yet to start Silk Song… and then Team Cherry had to go ahead and give us the Switch 2 Edition of Hollow Knight 😆 despite saying in a previous comment that I didn’t think I had the strength for Hollow Knight again… I’ve been sucked right back in! I’m sure I’ll love Silk Song, my son did on his OG Switch, I just can’t answer for sure till I’ve actually played it 😆

@rallydefault I think you’re being weirdly antagonising about it. It’s historically associated with other systems, with the sales split massively skewed towards those other systems, and with the way they’ve treated Nintendo releases and fans in years gone by I would say yeah, they’re probably happy with the sales performance on Nintendo hardware at present.

@rallydefault I’m saying it’s nothing to be sniffed at, and considering their reputation, specifically with releases on Nintendo hardware, I’d imagine they’re more than happy with how it’s performing. The number one selling game in the UK right now is performing perfectly well on the Switch family of systems, in my opinion.

@PharoneTheGnome Animal Crossing has sold well over 8 million copies in Japan alone, PHYSICAL only, I’d imagine a huge amount of those buyers are upgrading rather than buying the game for the first time on Switch2

Oh boy… as much as I love it, the game’s a masterpiece, I don’t know if I have the strength for Hollow Knight again, no matter how many frames there are 😆

@Axecon it hasn’t stopped selling, it’s not like this 1million+, couple of months after release, are its lifetime sales. It’s still a presence on the UK physical chart, has been since release, and a quick glance at the eShop and it’s still there, albeit just inside the Top30.

It’s Nintendo or nothing for me, not interested in anyone or anything else at this stage in my life, gaming and actual life 😆

What’s most impressive about those Switch2 hardware figures, is the fact they’re STILL selling so much of the OG Switch family of systems AS WELL as the new system. Unreal.

Phew. Those numbers are insane, and they have yet to reveal what’s up their dungarees for the big guns. No mention of Prime4, but we’ll get the numbers when there’s an updated list of Switch2 software sales. Good going Nintendo, I’m absolutely loving Mario Kart World, have yet to play anything else on my Switch2 in the meantime because I’m having so much fun with it.

Lots of Mario Kart World so far, the game is magic. I’m trying to get three stars on all the cups in Mirror Mode, just two more to go, and in between that trundling around via Free Roam. I fired up MK8D as well for the craic, found myself hopping and holding ‘R’ to try and get that extra little boost jump 😆

I have never seen a 3D printer and can’t actually get my head around the whole thing, but @PJOreilly your articles are always great to read, passionate and funny, so thank you and keep it up

@The_Nintendo_Expat ah, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want or believe everything is positive, or should be. I just… I’m not a big fan of the media in general, I know how they operate and I see certain tactics on display here that I especially dislike. But I’ve been here a (VERY!) long time and I do love the place, (and my fellow N’lifers ☺️), I just… I don’t know, I wonder sometimes 😆 but hey, this is video games, a hobby, I shouldn’t take it so seriously I guess 😅

That’s some serious hardware numbers, Switch2 blowing everything else out of the water. Amid all the doom, gloom and endless negativity, it’s encouraging to see the actual data. I hope @nintendolife realise that their success is at least somewhat dependent on Nintendo continuing to do well, I feel like negativity gets more attention than positive news.

I knew when the rage bait articles started to appear that this would be the case, and I felt in my gut adhoc were trying to blame Nintendo and it would only be a matter of time before they responded.

DOOM and Eternal were so good on Switch, incredible. DOOM was the very first game I downloaded on my OG Switch and I played through it again last year. I would absolutely play both again on Switch2, hoping they get a Switch2 version at some point.

@SBandy1 Alien Isolation is so good on Switch, I would LOVE to see an even better version on Switch 2 😱

@BIG3 definitely not, because I haven’t done that 😆 as far as I can tell, you need to find a minimum of ten Peach Medallions, 10 P-Switch Missions, 10 ? Tiles and complete all Grand Prix Cups AND Knockout Tour Rallies at 150cc, doesn’t matter where you finish, just complete them. Once all criteria is met I think you need to do the Special Cup again to actually unlock it, so just leave it to last if you haven’t already done it. Good luck and enjoy!

MK World at number one means Switch2 is selling well, MK8D in the Top5 means NS1 is selling well, and Final Fantasy at number two means the appetite for good ol’ fashioned QUALITY games is there. Build it, and they will come… great to see.

Who’s gonna be bigger… Mario or Michael in April?! 😆 I’ll be going to see both, can’t wait, but Michael Movie is what I’m most excited for. Right this second, I’m playing Mario Kart World with Stranger in Moscow on my speaker, April is gonna be wonderful for me.

@Anti-Matter i hope you’re feeling better soon. As for my weekend game, definitely Mario Kart World, still concentrating on Mirror Mode, and maybe I’ll finally start Silk Song Switch 2 Edition.

@BrewsterTea we don’t know the true figures, all territories including digital, once we know that it’s all just conjecture on our part as armchair analysts. But from one interested party to another, I think (and hope!) that DK’s sales are meeting their expectations ☺️ I’ve to still buy it myself! But I’m currently enjoying MK World too much, so I’ll wait, but it definitely has at least one more sale to come 😊

@Lord the Switch2 being (mostly) backwards compatible means people aren’t buying new games just to have something to play. And there’s no way Nintendo are disappointed in the sales for DK and Kirby, let’s be honest here.

I haven’t played Prime4 yet, but I was almost dreading playing Mario Kart World because of the negativity surrounding it, Nintendo and the Switch 2 in general… I had nothing to worry about. I don’t know what other gamers or the industry in general want, but MKW is a phenomenal game in my opinion, I’m genuinely loving it and I’ve been there for every entry since Super Mario Kart on the mighty SNES. I feel like we’ve become a generation of gamers that wants, and fully intends to be disappointed no matter what.
