Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Dev NetherRealm Confirms It's Shifting Focus To "Next Project"

90sRetroGaming

@RaptorRed Coming in with the late reply, but ahh yeah! lol. It’s time! Haha. I wasn’t watching the State of Play live, but saw Twitter notifications pop up.

When I saw the one for the Mortal Kombat Kollection, I lost it as well. I actually thought it was someone playing a bad joke. So glad it turned out to be real.

Been waiting YEARS for this. My hopes years backs were a 90s-00s collection consisting of the arcade, console, and handheld versions, a ton of extras, alone with Digital Eclipse behind the project. Wish was granted! 😂🥲👍

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Dev NetherRealm Confirms It's Shifting Focus To "Next Project"

90sRetroGaming

The next project should be a Mortal Kombat collection. Developed and handled by Digital Eclipse, done exactly like the TMNT Cowabunga Collection.

Every arcade, console, and handheld Mortal Kombat released during the 90’s-the mid 00’s. SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, N64, Gameboy/Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Game Gear, PlayStation, Saturn, etc.

In-game museum of scanned box art, manuals, advertisements, promotional materials, full soundtracks, posters, artwork, sketches, design documents, etc.

This collection is unbelievably overdue, at this point. Warner Bros. needs to wake up, and make this one a reality. I want this more that anything they’ve released in the last couple decades.

Re: PSA: You Can Stop Others Accessing Your Switch 2 With A PIN

90sRetroGaming

It’s kind of wild that it’s taken this long for them to catch up in the security and account features department.

By this, I mean (under you Nintendo Accout settings) being able to entirely lock devices with passwords and passcodes, sign-in and security, and account features like being able to see the devices you own under account via a website or official app (including serial number, model, and purchase date), detailed information about cloud information, purchases, etc.

They seem to be getting there. Under their “portal” portal of your Nintendo Account (via their website), you can see your console information like users, game systems (including serial numbers and virtual game card i.e. every game purchased), and system transfer info.

If they could integrate all this info under account settings like Apple ID, that would be fantastic.

Re: 'Tetris Forever' Slots Into Place On Switch Next Month

90sRetroGaming

14 titles confirmed, and the fact that at least a few more titles will be added in the future is a beautiful thing to see. Love when developers do this.

When this collection was first announced, I was bummed and confused as to why Gameboy and NES Tetris weren’t included, but forgot those were developed/done by Nintendo. So that wasn’t going to happen.

Shame Tetris DS and Tetris Axis aren’t here either, but it’s the same those those as well, with Nintendo properties involved.

Count me in as one of those that would love to see the Tengen version included as well in the future. Any versions of Tetris that they can get their hands on to include later on (Nintendo developed/published aside), the better.

Like the Cowabunga Collection, I really, REALLY hope they were able to include high resolution scans of all the original game boxes, full manuals, magazines advertisements, promotional materials, etc, as I don’t own any of the original releases. LOVE stuff like this!

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Been Updated To Version 3.0.3, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

90sRetroGaming

If no multiple “seasons” for GBA Sunset Wilds, like the “Animal Crossing” course, then this update is pointless.

They already have appropriate skyboxes in the game already, that would be comparable to the original GBA release.

“Animal Crossing’s” autumn, magenta skybox for lap 2, and GCN Waluigi Stadium’s purple skybox for lap 3.

It’s insane that some random nobody on the internet can think up a solution that makes sense, and would work, yet the actual company who made this game, can’t seem to do so for whatever reason…

Re: Edgeworth Reminds Us About The Pre-Order Bonus With 'Ace Attorney Investigations Collection'

90sRetroGaming

@DogDetective 100% this. I’m still waiting for “The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles - Additional Art & Music from the Vaults” pre-order bonus to return for purchase.

I wasn’t even aware that this existed, as I missed out on the game’s initial release back in 2021, and didn’t purchase the game until last year.

From what I’ve watched on YouTube, it’s actually a well made, and substantial amount of music and art. Game is currently incomplete for those of us that can’t purchase it. It’s frustrating.

They did the same exact thing with Capcom Fighting Collection from 2022, which thankfully, I was able to buy in time to get the exclusive music tracks and artwork before they stopped the promotion.

Re: Konami Promises To Continue Improving Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1

90sRetroGaming

Here’s a few suggestions:

Performance/Quality Mode for the Switch version of Metal Gear’s 2 and 3 in the collection. Performance Mode is 720p/60fps docked. Quality Mode is the current 1080p/30fps docked. Handheld? Maybe 540-600p/60fps for Performance Mode, and the current 720p/30fps for Quality Mode.

Patch in the full, complete online manuals of all the games in the collection, to the actual in-game menu for offline viewing. Why did they make them online manuals, that requires an internet connection to view them in the first place? Sucks, because otherwise, the manuals here were really well done as digital versions.

Add the Gameboy Color version of Metal Gear as DLC. Free or paid, they should add it.

Re: Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath Of The Mutants (Switch) - Coin-Op Co-Op Cowabummer

90sRetroGaming

Not having online multiplayer support is insane itself, but not even including the option to allow for up to three additional turtles as CPU bots during gameplay is crazy to me.

If you have no one near you that plays video games, or doesn’t have additional controllers, it essentially ends up being a single player experience at the end of the day, on a multiplayer-centric release.

Not even peer-to-peer online like the Cowabunga Collection. Nobody is demanding dedicated servers for online multiplayer(which would be nice), but you couldn’t even offer the former as an option? The game isn’t DOA, but it’s close with dumb decision making like this…

Re: F-Zero 99 Is Getting A New Update (Version 1.3.0), Here's What's Included

90sRetroGaming

@HalBailman What’s wrong with Mirror Mode, especially as an option? It’s a nice change of pace, and it’s nice being thrown off at times.

It’s not racing, but take Ocarina of Time 3D for instance. The Master Quest variant is now mirrored, and everything being flipped gives the over world and dungeons a brand new feel, and a new take on gameplay.

Things feel off from your normal objective, and it’s pretty cool twist. Makes you think things a little differently. I do agree on Reverse Mode, though. Loved that in MKT.

Re: Atari Acquires Retro Specialist Digital Eclipse

90sRetroGaming

Glad they’re able to continue to work on outside projects without issue. After the likes of the Mega Man Collection, Disney Afternoon Collection, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and the Cowabunga Collection, I’d be furious if they wouldn’t be able to be behind a Mortal Kombat Kollection, a Tiny Toons Collection, and an Adventure Island Collection, among others.

Re: Sonic Origins Plus Update Goes Live On Switch, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

90sRetroGaming

@Serpenterror Yeah, agreed, definitely. I feel like they really nailed this update, except for addressing the audio quality issues in S3&K.

We know the MJ tunes are out, but the quality of the Jun Senoue rendition of Carnival Night’s 1 & 2 is absolutely atrocious.

Earlier build or not (according to some), they still sound terrible compared to the November 1993 prototype versions. Seriously wish they would address this…

Re: TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection Gets First Major Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

90sRetroGaming

@shoeses Some people in the livestream brought up the possibility of adding online for TMNT II: The Arcade Game. They pretty much shot down that idea due to them feeling that adding this one would help take away focus from the games they’ve already included for online. Seems like a missed opportunity. Happy that Manhattan Project is a lock, at least. This one definitely needed online.

Re: Mortal Kombat Celebrates 30 Years Of Fatalities, Friendships And Flawless Victories

90sRetroGaming

Gonna need that Kombat Kollection, and one that’s given the same treatment as seen in the Cowabunga Collection.

Every single arcade, console, and portable version of all the 90’s/early 00’s games. Scans of every manual, flattened scans of all game box art, design documents, advertisements, etc. Online play.

That’s literally all I’d want to see from this 30th anniversary celebration. Do this, and it’s an instant day one buy.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See At Tomorrow's Nintendo Direct Showcase?

90sRetroGaming

Would love Wind Waker + Twilight Princess HD combo pack for $70 (won’t happen), but would probably cost $100, lol.

Would love to see HD remasters Ocarina of Time, and Majora’s Mask. Will never happen, but a person can dream.

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Games sequel. I don’t know exactly what else they would include in a sequel that it’s predecessor doesn’t have already, but I’m sure there’s a good amount of genres that missed the cut last go around.

Brand new F-Zero game, or at least an HD remaster.

Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, and Gamecube for NSO.

A new Rhythm Heaven game.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Probably Won't Get Any DLC

90sRetroGaming

Was hoping for (from the start) that the turtles would have their alternate “Comic Book” colors from Turtles in Time to swap between.

Donatello was more golden brown, and the other three had more various shades of a minty green color. I loved that back in the day.

An additional DLC in vein of the Mr. Nightmare X would be fantastic, too. Other than those, I’m happy with what’s here.

Re: Sonic Origins Shows Off Animated Cutscenes, Mirror Mode, And More

90sRetroGaming

They keep beating around the bush regarding Sonic 3 & Knuckles soundtrack, whether the Brad Buxer/Michael Jackson tracks are included or not. They simply refuse to acknowledge what’s going on here.

At this point, everyone may as well accept this as a way of saying that they’re not going to be included in this release, and that it’s the prototype versions only, which sucks for a lot of us that grew up on the former versions. They’re mostly good, but not what I, and a lot of us remember.

The very least they could have done (assuming they couldn’t get the rights to those tracks) was contract Tee Lopes to re-do the entire OST to S3&K in the “Mania” style sound, in addition to including the original prototype versions (cleaned up and remastered). That would have at least taken a bit of the sting off of losing those tracks.

Re: 'Disney Classic Games Collection' DLC Upgrade Will Be Available for $9.99

90sRetroGaming

Anyone else wish they had included the Game Boy Color, and Sega Master System version as well?

Watching some videos of these online, and I have to say, these are really impressive for the hardware they ran on.

The Game Boy Color one was done by Crawfish Interactive. They’re defunct as a company now, so I wonder if that’s why that version isn’t here. A real bummer.

The original Game Boy version is pretty bad in comparison to it, and the “Handheld Color” version on the collection is simply the Super Game Boy palette.

Re: 'Disney Classic Games Collection' DLC Upgrade Will Be Available for $9.99

90sRetroGaming

Wasn’t the original 2019 release of this collection priced at $29.99? This DLC upgrade is $9.99. That’s $40. This new re-release with everything included is $29.99.

Why exactly are they charging $10 more to upgrade, instead of simply delisting the old version, and offering the new version for free to existing owners?

Similar to how NBA Playgrounds, and Uno was handled. The older versions were delisted, and the new versions were marked as free, automatically, for those who owned the previous versions.
