@Sisilly_G
What the hell really? That's crazy. But yeah it's absolutely no wonder that in a world where game devs somehow believe choosing between male and female in a game is super controversial that Mother 3 would never get localised with the contents it has.
Edit: By the way I have now checked out the Switch version of Pocket Card Jockey and I guess the removal of gender choice is only a thing in the English versions? Because in the language I played in there, thankfully, was no stupid decision made about removing the option of "boy" or "girl".
@Samalik I'm sorry but from what I'm seeing you're saying you aren't already a fan? In which case I don't think you're really in a position to judge the original doujin release in comparison to Realta Nua. Just have it be known that certain scenes in the very first release were not put in the game because the author wanted them to be there, but because the artist insisted that they have to be there or the game wouldn't sell.
@AlexanderDaniels If it eases your mind, Nasu can be pretty hands on with the product, including the English translations/localisations. To the point where one character's official English name is stupid and kinda silly but it's still used in English instead of the far more commonly known fan translated name because he insists on it.
Wow, this is a momentous occasion. I'm glad it's finally happening. Oh and also, I guess now everyone will have to accept either calling her "Saber" or "Altria" lol
I wonder if people will seemingly also forget about this game existing after a few years if Super Princess Peach has already been completely lost in the memory of the mainstream...? At any rate it's very strange.
The people being so pushy about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon hurts a bit... Like, yeah I'm sure Spike Chunsoft made nice money off of those games, but they just do contractual work for The Pokemon Company. They can't just make PMD games at their own whim.
Oh I was really waiting for this! I've heard great things about this, and honestly the way the developer made this game is something we've all fantasized about no? Just doing it yourself for years upon years until you have an awesome game on your hands.
@5th313ment I think the seal of quality's purpose is to show that the game is not a bootleg but an official release approved by Nintendo and that the game would function when put into the console.
I'm surprised the reception is so positive. I think it looks very obviously like a quick sloppy photoshop that is incongruous with any other depiction of Peach in this.
Seeing 90% of the comments just list their favourite English speaking gaming Youtubers is really funny. While I do watch some very well known Japanese streamers I doubt that's who Sakurai means.
Hope it'll appear in a (probable) February direct, the version outside of Japan that is. I'd be happy to have more eyes on it. I for one am happy to see the series continue after over a decade.
@Porky "Guess what though, after WiiU and 3DS, Nintendo Switch is the next on the chopping block albeit later down the road." Not really theoretically speaking, the Switch 2 should have the same online infrastructure as the Switch. So it wouldn't be the same sort of situation.
@MS7000 Yeah I'm not paying sh*t to use my own damn internet connection. Nintendo can blow me in that regard, they don't even provide an exceptional online service so they can doubly f*ck off asking for my money in a dumb subscription.
@JohnnyMind As far as I understood it the script in the other languages is untouched. Unfortunately they did not add new languages for the second game, also if you want to play in Japanese you will have to get a Japanese version as one can't select Asian languages in the European or NA release.
Now as for examples, it's stuff like removing "wine" in certain places, all mentions of someones age being removed and not wanting a female character to have a jewelry box and instead making it an "offering box"(how is jewelry problematic???). I'll try and see if someone compiled all the changes. You might see an example online where a localiser added a "Yikes" in an on the nose place, but there's plenty of other changes besides that one too.
I'm surprised no one here seems to know about this, unless I misread. But Bamco openly stated that the English dub is not present because they went back and censored the translation (again) and so the script and voice lines don't necessarily all match up anymore. Of course any kind of censorship is stupid and bad, but the examples in BK here are especially dumb and seem tonedeaf on part of the localisers or whoever was in charge of the translation. Thumbs down from me.
The tone of the mail makes Spencer sound like a self important up his ass c**t, not that I had a high opinion of him beforehand. Well, like everyone else here it seems, I also doubt this would ever come to pass and would really hope nothing like this ever happens.
I was aware of the game not being great, but I'm just glad it now exists in this state. Very thankful to the people involved in making this release happen.
Eh whatever. I don't really think BotW/TotK can be reconciled with the universe of the other Zelda games anyway. It doesn't matter really and obviously they're not limiting themselves by trying to adhere to the logic of the history of the previous games.
"Nintendo has a history of censorship in the West, especially in the '90s" Lol, you're saying it like it's not something that's still going on strong to this day. The anglophile world just has weird standards and cultural rules in this regard. I really don't get them.
Contrasting US to global sales is pretty interesting. The Switch had already surpassed the Wii globally a while ago, years ago even(?), so for it to only now surpass it in the US is not something I expected. Also, it's crazy how Japan with less than half the population has more than half the amount of Switch sales as the US does.
I'm sorry but if this is the case then the whole idea of the game's visual style was a mistake from the conceptual stage. Of course this is just my opinion, but Pokemon SV are incredibly ugly, not just technically.
There's no excusing this, there really isn't. You don't have to convince yourself that it's ok. Personally I will just stick with my PS3 and Vita versions.
I'm definitely gonna miss him, he is by far the most iconic voice of this whole medium. Whoever replaces him is gonna have to live up to some high expectations. Thank you for all the years of voicing some of my favorite characters Charles!
@Vyacheslav333 I assume it's probably because it's less resource hungry than something like Samsho. Therefore it's easier to implement rollback without potentially screwing the game up in other aspects.
Amazing success for a very impressive game. But I hope they don't let the success get to their heads and will still work on improving things and fixing flaws. I was really disappointed to see so many flaws from BotW carry over into TotK. Then again, Skyward Sword was praised to high heavens (heh) and despite that Nintendo still recognized that there was a problem with the formula at the time and changed things up.
I wonder if they will manage to create another character like Ryza who instantly became a favorite and pushed the series to it's biggest success yet because of her build. Well at least we're now moving on from her.
@GraniteFraggle Covered up cleavage if I remember correctly. Super weird unnecessary minor change. Not to mention that the game was available uncensored in Asia with the English translation. Leading some to believe that the staggered western release was in part due to the stupid censorship(though I'm not sure if that's true really).
Please no. If they do keep Oatchi, and the design philosophy that comes with him, around I fear that Pikmin might stop being a franchise that I love. That would be a bummer
I'm sorry but whenever I am confronted with this part of the Mother2/Earthbound fandom I can't help but think of that joke headline "Lifelong Earthbound fan excited to actually play the game for the first time!"
@JoakimZ It's this or nothing. And since it's good enough for most, customers aren't gonna complain too much even if they think things could be better.
I'm not from or living in an English speaking country so thankfully this doesn't affect me. But what the heck is up with the edited translation in the English language versions? And no, this was not a change introduced with the Wii ports or anything, this is new.
Hmm I guess this review unfortunately confirms some concerns I had in regards to the game and the direction it was gonna go into... well I guess it'll be nice for all the people who haven't played Pikmin before!
I'll wait for a sale or something then. Don't think I'll be getting it at launch now.
@Thaliard ??? It's a big part of it yes. Have you not played the other games? One of the best things about this whole series are the flavour texts and bits of lore.

It will be Realta Nua as it was I presume. Which of course is not the same as the original independent release.

Mario. I mean not like it matters since they're all the same now unfortunately. Otherwise I would have alternated between Toad and Peach.
