Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Tennis Fever

shining_nexus

@LazyDaisy that’s a good point. Mario tennis aces is pretty good and i think it would have been ok with an update. Mario in a whole new sport would have been more exciting.

I still like what fever is doing and would like to try it at some point. Just not that excited to play another mario tennis.

Re: Tales Of Arise - Switch 2 Performance And Resolution Revealed

shining_nexus

30 fps is fine as long as its consistent. Portability all the way. Problem for me is its release being too close to rebirth and elliot. Actually, might be a good thing because i can now wait for a good sale and save some cash. But lets be real, it’ll probably be in the back log for the next decade lol

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Virtual Boy - Nintendo Classics

shining_nexus

@Runex2121 i know! I was disappointed when there was no controller, especially when they replicated the whole headset.

I grew up with a cousin who had the vb, so my time with it was very limited on it. I enjoyed the games that i played and im very much looking forward to properly play through these games. A lot of them sound like short bite sized and arcadey experiences, which makes them sound more enticing to play.

Re: Switch 2 Predicted To Follow In PlayStation And Xbox's Footsteps This Year With "Global Price Hike"

shining_nexus

@calbeau bro, the past year i’ve decreased my spending and time spent on video games immensely because it just felt like it was time. I’ve been focusing on myself, God, and building my relationships with friends/family more, and honestly, I’ve never been more happier. I still love video games and i hope to continue playing till i die, but dang, letting go of all the mess that happens in this industry and all the fomo just feels so freeing.

@Ralizah
“They know gaming people with sales, launch discounts, etc. can make it harder for us to resist, even when we have multiple years worth of games in our backlogs and buying much of anything doesn't make a whole bunch of sense.“

Yup, i’ve fallen for this a lot in the past. I will only bite now when its a game i want to spontaneously play right now or it’s less then 3 bucks on my wishlist.

Another option i was looking at was the subscription model. I would probably been happy with just paying for psplus premium… but its not nintendo haha

Re: PSA: Nintendo Reminds Us It's Winding Down Gold Points Next Week

shining_nexus

@Ralizah yeah $70 with no additional incentives for digital can be a harder pill to swallow. I’m not planning to buy games at launch anymore without a voucher or a must play game for me. Steam sales are pretty awesome though!

I also made a ton of purchases last gen and plan to slow down sharply. Honestly, feels relieving and free lol

Re: PSA: Nintendo Reminds Us It's Winding Down Gold Points Next Week

shining_nexus

@Ralizah that’s funny because I decided to go 100% digital on Switch 2 and onwards after going all physical with Switch/ps5. I’m kinda done with collecting games. The hunt and fomo aspects is what drained me mentally (and my wallet). I have a huge physical collection so not worried at all if i stop buying games altogether.

Re: Opinion: Against All Odds - Why Does RPG RNG Hate Me?

shining_nexus

I forced myself to let go. The more you do it, the easier it gets. It just isn’t worth the time, unless you enjoy the grind. I do like to 100% platformers though, mainly because they’re fun and challenging to do. Low rng and boring side quests just isn’t fun.

I honestly think you would like monster hunter. It’s grindy, yes, but gameplay is much more fun then mindlessly slaughtering tigers.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th March)

shining_nexus

A lot of persona 5! I’m starting to really enjoy the flow of things. And i absolutely love interacting with all the characters, with kasumi being my favorite so far.

Playing through the donkey kong vs mario games as well. Picked up the switch game on sale and playing the nso gb game. They’re both really fun!

Happy gaming!!

Re: As Switch Approaches The PS2's Lifetime Sales, Sony Moves The Goalposts

shining_nexus

The PS2 is legendary, but the Switch will probably outsell the PS2. It just has a more bigger audience with all types of gamers and works great as a secondary device.

I absolutely loved the PS1 and PS2 era. Modern Playstation games just isn’t my jam, but I like to play them a few times a year. I’m glad Nintendo decided to go their own direction after GameCube. Gaming wouldn’t be as fun without them.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd March)

Raincode and Zelda TOTK mostly. Probably a couple rounds of Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8. Throw in some Gal Guardians and Cosmic Star Heroine in there too.

Looking forward to the next couple months with Sea of Stars, Eiyuden Chronicles, and Paper Mario TTYD on the way. Which reminds me, will probably try to make progress in Paper Mario on NSO.

Re: Hacker Gary Bowser Discusses Post-Jail Life And Chipping Away At Nintendo's $14m

shining_nexus

@PlywoodStick sorry about your experience. That really sounds unfortunate and I would never wish that on anyone.

First off, only invest money that you are willing to lose and don’t need short term. Period. Keeping your money in the market long term and adding to down market is key to not losing money. There are multiple times where the market crashed and I was down more then 70%, but became irrelevant once the market picked back up.

Modern day investing is a lot more easier and less risky. Long term investing with a diversified portfolio is pretty much the way to go to build wealth with low risk. They have mutual funds and ETFs that are essentially stocks that you can invest in which are made up of multiple companies that are handpicked and adjusted by experts daily. Basically, automatic investing for those who have low knowledge about the stock market.

I’m not saying there isn’t luck involved and I’ve seen people lose a lot of money, myself included, but that’s because we were gambling our money and picking stock that could win us big short term. I made my money back, but that’s because I learned from my mistake and figured out how to severely lower risk and not rely on luck. There are a lot of horror stories about the stock market, which puts a lot of people off about it and I get that. But it’s not so scary once you understand it.

People’s retirement plan are now becoming 401k, which are automatically investing your money in the stock market. No matter how you look at, even regular people are investing in the stock market these days with their 401k and will probably make them a ton of money when they retire.

As long as you’re not looking at the stock market to get rich quick, then it’s a great tool to build wealth long term. It’s not so much about making wise investments, but making wise decisions.

Re: Hacker Gary Bowser Discusses Post-Jail Life And Chipping Away At Nintendo's $14m

shining_nexus

@Ryu_Niiyama “ I know regular work isn’t glamorous and takes longer to build wealth but it’s better than the fool’s gamble he took and lost”

The only way an average person can gain great financial wealth is through investments and passive income. The easiest method is the stock market, which is available to everyone and a great tool to build wealth in the long run for someone with a regular job. Unfortunately, a lot of people choose to be victims and blame the system instead.

Re: Analogue's CEO Reckons Not Even Nintendo Could Beat Its New 'N64'

shining_nexus

@contractcooker I literally could not get their latest product. It sold out within minutes. It might have been special edition (glow in the dark pocket), so maybe that was it. If it only applies for special editions, then I stand corrected. It was their latest product and I just assumed that was how they did business.

However, special edition or not, that’s still a crappy practice. I’m also not a fan of paying straight up for preorders, especially for hundreds of dollars.

Re: Review: Mineko's Night Market – Cosy Fun With A Few Knots In The Fur

shining_nexus

@Nintendencies The Great Ace Attorney and the Phoenix Wright Trilogy are the big ones for me. I should mention that I’m big mystery murder nerd. I eat that crap up from VNs to point and click adventure games. I’ve recently played The Pizza Delivery Boy Who Saved The World and that was such a treat. It was cheap and it looked very goofy with its realistic graphics and cheesy writing, I just had to. No regrets. The Chrono Cross prequel, Radical Dreamers, was also a good VN.What made it unique was having a battle system that was text based and it had multiple endings depending on the choices you made throughout the adventure. I thought it was pretty cool for a game that was originally for the Satelliview.

Have you heard of World of Horror? I’m also a horror fan and this VN has caught my interest. It has a more eastern style of horror which I find more scary and creepy. Might be something you may like.

About life sims, I’m right there with you. Interestingly, I’m still playing ACNH. I think it has more to do with its real time clock that makes me keep coming back. I would love to see more farm/life sim with a 24 hour clock system.

Re: Review: Mineko's Night Market – Cosy Fun With A Few Knots In The Fur

shining_nexus

@Nintendencies yeah, i noticed that. But I do like the art style, music, and writing that this game displays. I do like my life sim games and yes, if the grindy aspect just isn’t fun to play, I can see myself dropping it, unless everything else about it is drawing me in. I’ll just have to find out for myself at some point.

I’ve noticed myself having less interest in life sim games these days, but visual novels has been a pleasant discovery for me. It’s so good.

Re: New Nintendo Joystick Patent Could Spell The End For Future Drift Issues

shining_nexus

I’ve had multiple controllers drift now, from joy cons, pro controller, dual shock, dual sense, and elite xbox controllers. Those sticky buttons can be particularly annoying too. Strangely, my oled joy cons are still great after hundreds of hours of heavy use. At least Nintendo is developing technology that may help prevent or minimize drift. Hopefully it’s a winner.
