Re: Japan's National Library Says Game-Key Cards Are Not Eligible For Preservation

@Toastmaster I have 100% backup of my purchased console games. If i paid for a digital, i prefer to own it for real.

This is why I will buy Switch1 versions unless they have full cart Switch2 version. And "Key-Card" data for me will be on the exSD card just for that not going to risk saving it to internal storage when I can use the "Key-Card" on different Switch2 with the exSD to replace the game and not have to redownload again.

That's my only way to insure I have the "Key-Card" game it that if forced on me.

What the OUO*&(&( I will be looking for the Switch1 edition and instead get the Switch2 upgrade....they should be offering this as well. Even the Switch2 "Key-Card" of "The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizona" for Switch2 still has 100% not even going down. That should tell NISA but looks like they aren't listening. Also "STARBITES Limited Edition" has Switch2 Key-Card. What is ROTTEN with NISA here???? I will stay with Switch1 games from NISA until they give us upgrade option.

It was also confirmed not long ago how the Switch 2 physical release of Borderlands 4 will require a download, so expect a Game-Key Card release. This game launches for this platform on 3rd October 2025.
Damn...why don't they make physical and then force PreOrder bonus on us. 40gb download and this won't fit a 64gb Switch2 cart??? What the ((&(&(*&(&(&!!!!!!

@kmtrain83 I’m a bit older than you and I have a similar breakdown of physical versus digital Switch games. I still like my books on paper. My CDs are all packed up in a box. My DVDs are hidden in a closet, but I will bust one out once in a while if I can’t find it on stream.
That's the slippery slope people forget. You own it you and play when you feel like it or read when you want to read it.

@electrolite77 You have heard that Nintendo is or deciding about the "Key-Card" backlash or debacle as of the second survey and sounded like they were making different more capacity range for Switch2 games.

@electrolite77 Yes but my point is that the mass market I.e. most people will not care. The people who do not care far outweigh the collectors that do. The collectors-while they shout loud-are in a minority by some distance.
No, people care when you pay MSRP for Digital year or year they do care at the point. Physical used game prices or old new games are determined by Market Forces. That's what people forget. Sure 3rd party games will be cheap or become cheaper but 1st games publisher knows they can keep Digital at MSRP regardless. So whom is getting short end of the shaft here then?
