Re: Switch 2 USB-C Chip Might Be Breaking Compatibility With Third-Party Docks

sethfranum

@Toastmaster So Nintendo did the same as Sony with PS VITA?
Sony used a custom USB on VITA, so you couldn't use third party chargers.
Chargers, Flash carts and everything on VITA had to be made by Sony so they could charge 200% more.

This the problem when Sony did this people didn't make such a big stink of their Memory but when Nintendo does it - then it's Doom and Gloom they are killing gaming.

Re: Switch 2 USB-C Chip Might Be Breaking Compatibility With Third-Party Docks

sethfranum

This is Nintendo custom USBC for their system. This doesn't fall into the standard USBC everyone takes for granted as it specific uses when Docked for video output. Nintendo isn't responsible for why Switch 1 got Bricked by third party docks. They should've tested that it worked before selling it. As to those saying third party docks Switch 1 would say which one otherwise so others can see if that's truly working as such.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@DarkLink1996 Because a lot of the websites reporting it are calling a "ban" a "brick", which is not at all what it is.
Called "ClickBaiting or Grifting" for clicks. They block access to Nintendo Services as that how people can cheat or "Malware Payload" to their server. And if they do that guess what all Nintendo NSO are hacked so unless you want hacker to gain access to your NSO account.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

sethfranum

To those not liking "Key-Card" they do have the eShop Digital only version. Otherwise what's point of 70gb games to be had for and games are getting bigger so Digital only good as Internal or exSD storage space. So unless they give the users option to expand memory Digital storage only goes so far.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

sethfranum

@kevhunt13 The Legend of Zelda BOTW & TOTK Switch 2 edition use Switch 1 Cartridge. Nintendo just swap the cartridge color with red to make it looks like Switch 2 cartridge.
Again more misinformation being spouted again. The chipset in the Switch 2 carts aren't the same as the Switch 1 games. So if your going to spout this give some hardware details and links to support this.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@BlackStar9000 That is ISP DMCA violations they do this when Copyright Holders of the Movie tell them - repeat violations will get your internet blocked by your ISP. For your ISP to block your internet this isn't a one case it's been happening for some time for them to block your internet. I've seen those letters and email they send out by others and they do state you will loose your internet if the DMCA violations keeps happening. So you should tell your kid that the PS5 uses their ISP and their DMCA rules applies and if this keep happening your ISP will terminate your Internet.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@Linux7055 For clarification again. They are not allowing systems that used MigFlash to access online services. They aren't banning systems or account as people make it out to be. Their EULA gives them that right. And to the story one of the bans it was a "System Ban/Block" not a person doing it and they are working to fix it. Most general users only have a dozen or so games they play and don't require a MigFlash to do that. Those that "Pirate" aren't going to out themselves on NL for all to see.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

sethfranum

@FirMatt A True HomeBrew/Hacker exposes themselves. Hackers whom have their wits don't come commenting on here to begin with. Your the reason why Nintendo does this to start with. How about you asking the Devs/Programmers whom created the game how they feel you stealing their games they created not the Publishers.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@dcasotti *For use their servers is reasonable. But they are doing much more than this.
I advice you inform yourself about the matter.*
For what other purpose are you referring to here? This is for piracy and game cheating to hack the Nintendo Server or cheat online. MigFlash says backup but most general consumer never use that many games that would require a MigFlash.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@huroma Now, on a more personal note, I will never understand people who are willing to give up on the ownership of their own products in order to benefit multi-billion companies, but it seems very common on Nintendo and Apple sites. It feels like a cyberpunk dystopia.
I know you have a smartphone and that gives out way more details on your everyday life. Also your internet your using to connect to NL why are you on the internet if your talking about giving money away to corporations your giving them your Data already?

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@Slideaway1983 Did you read the EULA at all? The MIG isn't part of the Nintendo approved device. They most likely reverse engineered the MIGFlash and block it hardware else and built reporting tools into the hardware and software to report this back to Nintendo. And whom to verify the user is Pirating or not? The time it takes to take game out and switch is minor and little effort. I got one myself but never worked on my OLED so I just went back to cart switching. People use the Dumper and hacked Switches to copy game and insert codes to cheat or hack Nintendo Servers that isn't how one games ethically. Most general consumers never do this nor need MigSwitch for this purpose as they have a small collections of games to go back and forth to. So anyone defending this isn't doing a good job here.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

sethfranum

The problem comes when Digital or Code-in-Box cost as much as MSRP for Physical you have to ask why is that? eShop is akin to Code-In-Box and is tied to the NSO account they were redeemed on the account with. There is no separating the two they both are Digital and tied to the Nintendo account that redeemed them. They haven't said why or what is the cost to make a 32g cart or 64g cart for Switch 2. They make it so hard to just see the price as they couldn't just add the physical cart price of Switch 2 games to the MSRP??? No they can convince the Publisher it's in their best interest because if you give customer either a "Key-Card" or "Full" physical then they can make the choice and charge accordingly. Was it that hard? If they want us to go "Key-Card" why does it cost as much as a Physical cart game? There is no middle man to sell the game at that point.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@dew12333 This is why you always buy something second-hand after testing it in person folks...
Nintendo knows whom NSO account did this it's matter of time before they ban those accounts for violating the EULA/TOS. This will happen.

@EriXz They don't understand that internet access is now an integral part of gaming and piracy is rampant.
Piracy doesn't require internet to happen - the internet makes it easier to pirate but also easier to find them.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

sethfranum

@MarioLinkSamus but my understanding is most MIG users do it to pirate games.
This is what people do and no one should say otherwise. If it's their own they have the cart of the game for the game.

@Denoloco This is why you always buy something second-hand after testing it in person folks...
That's the point if they are afraid of you verifying it work then that's a red flag already. The Walmart story sounds odd they would test the return unit as there is no link to this story I don't find it creditable here.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Tests Out Switch 2's Free Switch Game Upgrades

sethfranum

They lost all credibility when saying Switch 2 only power scale of PS4 when in-fact alot of Youtube video pointed out their mistakes but they never fixed this. And same breath say Steam is a powerful as XBoxS-what are they smoking here. XBoxS blows steam out of the house there is no comparisons to be had here. So they are only opinion pieces and this is why their so called reviews or journalism are already biased to started with. DF is sending their own the the slaughter and NL is part of their cheerleading squad not questioning what narrative are they spouting about as it's already know they are a Sony fanbase opinion piece to start with.

Re: Review: Dbrand Switch 2 Killswitch Case - Teething Troubles Aside, This Case Is Killer

sethfranum

Here's the thing about Dbrand KillSwitch assuming you didn't use the sticky pads to stick to the Console itself you can remove it and "Dock" the Switch 2 into the case. It's not that hard to take off the cover to use the standard OEM Nintendo Dock. And as someone says in 30's years they don't make mistake and are guilty of it as well? This is such a lame reply it's laughable at best. When fully covered some Cases will not fit they add to the width you can't make a thin cover and expect it to work correctly. So what 30 yrs are you talking about? Obviously not in Dock case designs cover to start with. To think you know better then DBrand is how people pigeon hole themselves into a rut and can't get out. You have a choice here don't buy DBrand no one if making you buy it.

Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph

sethfranum

@SabreLevant He didn’t just get a $5m cash gift - it’s mostly performance-based stock. If EA does well, he earns more. If it doesn’t, he doesn’t. That’s standard in big public companies.
Performance that was from the programmers that made it what it is what performance did he do? EA survives because of microtransactions and nickel and diming it's patrons. Why doesn't the programmers get the 5 mils for doing the performance?

@SabreLevant The drop in “median pay” doesn’t mean pay cuts. It likely means EA hired more junior staff, which pulls the median down, not that existing employees got paid less.
Called cheap "Labors" sweat shops. If they really valued their employees they reward them for their work. CEO is a head mascot the work to make the magic in the games are the programmers laboring everyday to make it run and work.

Re: Review: Dbrand Switch 2 Killswitch Case - Teething Troubles Aside, This Case Is Killer

sethfranum

@Simu001 "Unprofessional statements" aren't the same ask making "Death Threats" let's be clear on this. One is work related and one is life threatening. I think you know of the better which one is worse to ethics and moral character. Also why should they show us the "Death Threats" made to them for? This was most likely sent to the Police or FBI equivalent to contact those suspect and or meet in person and under the law ask why do such actions for. "Death Threats" onto themselves is no laughing matter or equal to unprofessional statements as such.

Re: Three Nintendo Ray Tracing & Rendering-Related Patents Published In Japan

sethfranum

If Real companies had a working "Ethical department" then we wouldn't need Patents to start with but we all know that is a false narrative people push that talk about eliminating Patents but same time want to steal another's' "Blood/Sweat" that took to create it and not pay for it. So until this happens "Patents" for good or worse is going to stay.
