After some speculation a few weeks ago, it has now been confirmed that Nintendo Of America will be bringing three stone cold 3D classics to the budget Nintendo Selects range.
These games are none other than Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Ultimate NES Remix. They'll be available for the new lower price of $19.99 from 5th February in North America.
Aside from Ultimate NES Remix, these games have been in the European Selects range for some time, but it's nice to see North America give these evergreen titles the budget treatment, too. They are certainly essential purchases for 3DS owners.
Here's what the wonderfully named Doug Bowser, Nintendo Of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing had to say about this new set of Selects games:
For people that received a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS system as a holiday gift, these three games are ideal ways to start their gaming library. We’re excited to offer these must-have games for a new, low price.
We're excited too, Doug. Let us know if you'll be picking up one of these classic games early February with a comment below.

Nice to see Ultimate NES Remix get the discount. Underrated title, imo.
Edit: I already have all three of those Selects titles, though.
Nice. I've been gun shy on A Link Between Worlds' $40 asking price up to this point. Impulse buy now.
That explains the random calling out for review quotes from ALBW.
At the same time...why just that game, and secondly, why didn't NOE do that years ago when ALBW got Selected too?
Perfect if you're getting into the 3DS. Nintendo making it easier for late adopters
WHERE IS FE AWAKENING AND WHY CAN I NOT BUY A PHYSICAL NEW COPY?
Man, the 3DS has a phenomenal library. I don’t often stop to appreciate just how many great games there have been.
Cool, but all these games really need to come to Switch via some kind of Virtual Console imo.
Have they been using those ALBW quotes for this?
Already have those.
@Archius9 Probably on the back of the game box?
If a Link to the Past is in your top 5 SNES games, a Link Between Worlds will be in your top 5 3DS games. Get it.
In other thoughts: Maybe I should "Finally" get Ultimate NES Remix.
@impurekind No, they don't. They're fine on 3DS as they are.
Was still hoping for Starfox 64, as it’s become quite rare here in North America.
Good news for the people who haven’t bought Zelda though. One of the all time best Zelda’s for $20.
@abbyhitter, they had nes remix 1 & 2 for Wii u. They could port that for the switch.
Crap, now I have to get A Link Between Worlds, don't I?
@abbyhitter "imo"
Wonder how long until there are “selects” on Switch? Anyone know how long it took Wii U or 3DS to start offering selects?
What about New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U? That game is still full price here and it has most likely been a select title for a few years everywhere else.
I want to give you my money Nintendo, but you aren't helping yourself.
SM3DL and ALBW are both must own 3DS games. Highly recommended.
@Supadav03
3DS took about 4 and a half years(varies by region)
Wii U is somewhat meaningless to look at as it flopped pretty bad but pretty sure even Wii U took about 3 years to get Selects games.
Don’t expect Switch Selects until at least 2021
@Fooligan Because Wii U is dead and buried.
Just pray for a Port to 3DS or Switch and use that nice 20% Prime/GCU discount to get it on a system that doesn’t have a bulky awful controller and actually portability.
@Timsworld
You do realize there's a no swearing rule around here, right?
I never did take the bite on ALBW yet, so maybe I'll do that now...
@Pikachupwnage nice to see on NintendoLife other than you know what. Anyway I have all 3 games.
@Timsworld Watch your profanity young man. Kids are watching (still wish Kid Icarus Uprising would get some future recognition)
I wish Mario maker was in the list.
@Malcrash For your information I'm 19 so there's no need to young man me.
@10-zx So what?
Nintendo has been kind of stingy with select titles on the 3ds. Find it weird that there aren't more titles in the line.
@RyanSilberman Yup, feels like we must, doesn't it?
@Fooligan Same here, I don't understand how 3D World is Nintendo selects but not NSMBU. My theory is they may have a lot of stock of NSMBU they want to get rid of first.
I want to get link between worlds
@gatorboi352 Same. Been waiting for this day!
Finally going to get ALBW!
I traded in my copy of Zelda last year and got around 30 for trade in at gamestop. Ive been regretting that. Looks like I need to buy it again
@Timsworld
Dude, when you are in this website, mind your words.
That's the rules.
Otherwise, the moderator here (The users with Star sign such as Joeynator, Meowpeel, etc) will warn you or censor your latest comments.
@gatorboi352 If you were a Link to the Past fan (My favorite Zelda game) you're in for a treat. Was probably my #2 favorite Zelda game at the time (BotW may have stolen that spot) and I think I've played through it 3 times already. Great game, even at full asking price.
I’m still waiting for DKC Returns 3D to make the selects range over her in PAL land.
I told people the review marketing wasn't for a Switch port.
They didn't wanna hear it
@Timsworld
It's a site law. If it's a consistent sort of thing (which it seems to be), there will be eventual consequences. Just ask any moderator here.
I suggest you cut the edge.
@Mando44646 you probably wont be able to find a physical copy of fe awakening. It happens with every fire emblem game. Once it's out of print, the prices rise. I've seen some like new pre owned copies floating around $45 physically if you dont mind paying that much. Otherwise I would just get the game off the eshop
@Oat I don't get why it was ignored in the Selects line. Seems like a natural inclusion since Nintendo seems to despise making money off new copies
I won't buy digital because digital cannot be shared with my partner like it can be on every other console
So that's what the ALBW rumours from a while ago were about. Not a Switch port. Makes sense.
Just as I suspected...
@Mando44646 Probably for the same reason that Pokemon isnt a selects game. Nintendo knows people will buy it no matter what the price is.
I'm glad ALBW is finally in the Nintendo Selects. It's a great game that I borrowed and never bought due to it costing a lot for a used copy. I'll have to pick this up when it comes out.
I suppose there's no excuse for passing on 3D Land... I might buy it soon.
Will probably get both 3D Land and NES Remix. Don’t have either one yet but do have ALBW
Aside from the Four Swords series, I've played every Zelda game through twice or more. And for me personally, I would say Link Between Worlds is my favorite Zelda game. Of course BotW is a better game over all, but it doesn't strike those Zelda feels nearly as deep.
I highly recommend picking this up if you haven't played it before. There's obviously some fun throw backs if you've played through LttP, but it's not required to enjoy this game to its fullest.
Port ALBW to the Switch already, Nintendo.
I can't speak for Ultimate NES Remix (though now might be a good time to get it), but A Link Between Worlds is a must-buy and Super Mario 3D Land was a great product of its time and is still enjoyable.
If anyone hasn't picked up A Link Between Worlds or 3D Land yet... DO IT! They are two of the best 3DS games imo.
For real though. If you don't already have Super Mario 3D Land and A Link Between Worlds, you've been doing this whole 3DS thing wrong lol.
Yeeeeeessss!
Ill take between worlds please and thankyou
Gotta milk the tail end of the 3DS' lifespan. Good play by Nintendo. Solid games, all 3 of them.
Nintendo. I. DONT. have. a DS.
Please make Switch games.
is this till feb 5 the sale
I would love to see Zelda A Link Between Worlds On the Switch !
I just want this new 3DS game (can be ported to Switch if they made a new fishing-rod joycon):
A Link Between Worlds was my first 3DS game and I already have NES Remix Pack for the Wii U, but count me in for Super Mario 3D Land. I loved Super Mario 3D World, but was hoping to see this one get a Selects rerelease first.
Now give us a game that links Mario and Link together. Would be a nice game. Just mix it lol
@CorvoRevo This is a price drop for 3DS games. It's not even an announcement of new titles. They are not taking anything away from the Switch by doing this. Why are so many Switch owners always so salty about Nintendo even acknowledging that the 3DS exists?
Amazingly, I do not own nor have I ever played SM3DL.
@Harmonie
Because they are kids dude. They are shortsighted and do nit understand Nintendo or no other company will never ever let the massive library of games, backwards compatibilty, eshop, virtual console, dsi, and retail DS and 3DS games ALL ONE ON SYSTEM is never happening again. The new 3DS is a perfect storm for game players, due to this massive compatibility.
See Switch for the biggest example.... ya'll are re-buying old games mostly. no virtual, no backwards, that is just a taste of the incremental steps we all will be forced into taking.
While I understand that having ONE total system is where they are headed, it will still need updates, like your phone, etc. and not only that, Nintendo needs an extry system. Young kids are not walking around with a $300+ portable ...no way in hell is that a market strategy. New and young gamers of today are their next generation of loyal customers.
3DS/2DS line is going to be around for a quite some time yet.
Lovely peeeeople, just grab some games and actually plaaaaay them, yeah?
Net time around -in a few years is when Nintendo will finish the consolidation of one main system, but that don;t hold your breath, even that will have "steps" and bundles and subscriptions and piecemeal pay terms and limits.
Cool; price is almost right now for NES Remix. Other two are good at any price.
I’m confused? These games are already £15 in the uk eshop? So why is this news? We’re they more expensive in the USA??
@Harmonie 3D...what ?!?!
I dont know this.
@Deathwalka Super Mario 3D Land is $30, A Link Between Worlds is long out of print and can command $40 for a used copy pretty easily, and I don't think I've seen a new copy of Ultimate NES Remix on a store shelf in ages.
You're seeing cheaper prices since Super Mario 3D Land and A Link Between Worlds had already been rereleased as budget titles in Europe. That wasn't the case in North America.
@Atariboy thanks for clearing that up, that’s a shame. They are great titles which I would have paid more for, but it’s nice they are finally lower to at least make it fair to North America
@StephenYap3 princess peach saving princess peach 😊 or glass Joe damn near killing me in 1 punch is priceless. Glad 3ds is getting some first party sales and selects for once; gotta reward collectors and budgets for making old stuff desirable
