Other companies have started up similar services in Tokyo that aren't wrapped up in Nintendo IP, just karts in costumes unrelated to Nintendo. Source: they drive past my apartment all the time.
Step one: Make horrible looking sanic only for a trailer knowing everyone will loose their minds, get tons of views and press
Step two: Say you will respond to fan criticism by re-animating the entire character in the film appeasing to the fanbase and giving them an illusion of control
Step three: release a "fan fixed" version for more hits and press
Step five: drop the movie as it always has secretly been intended with a great looking sanic that even trumps the "fan fixed" version and boil the hype to explosive levels
step six: movie is still bad because it's based on a trash ip at it's core but at least the tails sequel is funded
@AlternateButtons @th4rtung @AlternateButtons @electrolite77 the article was 100% edited from when it was originally posted and I responded. They added the word "Xbox" and it was originally phrased to infer the controller was a Nintendo controller.
Seems like perhaps the Sonic team already has a better looking Sonic finished, and the version in the trailer was purposely made to look absurd to drum up internet buzz. Then they can thank the fans for input "make it better" and get more buzz right when the film drops.
What people aren't acknowledging is that Sonic games are and always have been just bad in general, so this movie being bad is just a faithful adaption of the universe. I'm excited to see just how faithful it is.
@SetupDisk Yea, it's nice it's not gobbling up too much room, but the more a game is compressed the more time it needs to spend uncompromising assets causing longer load times, so there is a balance to be had for sure.
@hoopderscotch NSMBUDX doesn't have any meaningful content a WiiU owner cannot access, such as new stages so it's not a even parallel.
I realize the captain toad release is not for me, a wiiU (and Swiitch) owner. That doesn't mean I feel slighted that they are not including my purchase of the game as worthwhile enough to them to make the full experience available to me as they do to the latecommers.
Nintendo wouldn't release a direct port of Mario Galaxy. It would be upgraded to HD the same way the Zelda games were for the WiiU. It's not an even parallel as it takes vastly more effort to Port and is worthy of a full pricetag even to those who owned it on the Wii. Captain Toad is not enhanced in any way meaningful until they offered this dlc, and the dlc is certainly worth the cost they ask but not worth the cost of the entire game a second time and then also the dlc cost.
The issue is that the levels should port easily to the old platform as there were no major overhauls for the port, but they are choosing not to port them for their most loyal fans. It's their choice and they are under no obligation to do anything, but as one of their loyal fans it's a noted action and will influence my future purchases.
People use the word "entitled" these days the same way some use "snowflake", it's just a lame trendy insult. The only thing I'm entitled to is my feelings on the situation and that's all I have. I'm not at the gates of the company demanding free things, but if someone from their team reads some of the levelheaded feedback their fanbase has maybe they will adjust future decisions. Not everyone has to agree, it's just my point of view. Have a good one.
Drove the TT loop last year at normal speeds in a car, would never have scrote to do it irl on a bike at race speeds but might be worth doing digitally.
@tangram You are right, they can do as they please, and actions like this have put off a 30+ year loyal customer. In the future I will not buy into their ecosystems unless they are doing strong enough I won't feel as they abandoned me.
Gotta say, as a person who bought this on WiiU I'm fairly annoyed it's not on offer there as well. Rude of Nintendo to punish customers who supported them during their weakest era by locking content behind a full priced re-purchase.
I find it interesting a lot of people in western society gasp at the concept of government imposed speech limitations in some eastern countries but fail to realize their own sensitivity to seemingly everything brings along a different, somewhat self-imposed style of censorship. I realize they aren't direct parallels, but they do exist on the same plain.
The joke that I don't see explained here is that 39 (3 = san in Japanese) and (9 = qū) sound like the English "Thank you" when spoken with a Japanese accent. That's why this is "too absurd."
They drive past my apartment countless times a day, and it used to be 95% Nintendo character costumes, the day after the lawsuit announcement it was suddenly nearly all minons and random Disney character costumes. You very rarely see a Nintendo character now, I wonder if the customers that wear Nintendo costumes now have to bring them themselves, or if they have just greatly limited the number of Nintendo costumes available. Either way, they have a poor reputation with locals but tourists absolutely adore the experience despite driving around in taxi and bus exhaust in a dank sweaty costume countless other people have worn, haha.
