It feels like a LOT of games are released for the Swiitch, but good games are either rare or lost in the landslide. And that's coming from someone who follows the system's news on a daily basis, if I can't keep up with the release schedule how do casual Nintendo fans sort this all out? Who is buying all these games?
He had access to the store without any other customers in it to film, clearly this is a collaboration with Nintendo. Something tells me he left with a check for his promotion and not many actual merchandise items.
That keychain is dooope. I checked, it costs 600 platinum points and you have to pay 500yen (~$5usd) plus tax for shipping and packaging. My guess considering how cheap shipping is inside of Japan is that they are essentially breaking even on these rewards.
Old-style club didn't require any shipping fees, fyi.
@Ralek85 That all makes a lot of sense. I sorta lean towards a "shortish life cycle" for the switch and a switch 2 launch in 2021 or so more than a mid-gen upgrade of any substantial level. It'll be interesting to see how they play it, my bet is they will be excited to get everyone to a new platform so they can stew up a new absurd way to get us all to beg for NES games again, as is their fetish.
I can't see Nintendo fracturing the user base in any meaningful way. The New 3DS had a very small handful of games made to take advantage of it's upgraded internals, juuust enough games to make some people justify the purchase of another new device. That might happen here too, but I wouldn't expect every game coming out to take advantage of a mid generation hardware upgrade, thus alienating the huge install base they currently have from playing those games. My bet is a few games will able to dynamically scale up resolution or something on new hardware, but tuning all these different modes (og hardware docked and handheld / upgraded docked and handheld) is going to get complex from a development standpoint.
My bet is a "pro" version is more likely to have some other change, in the past they added cameras or a extra control button/stick or something...all things very underused as well.
Maybe they will put in a nicer screen and it won't scale res down when handheld or something, but that doesn't smell real Nintendo either.
Point being, I wouldn't expect Earth shattering changes.
Anything claiming to be a quick simple way to learn Japanese is a gimmick. Source: I learned Japanese. It was a lot of work requiring many different sources and thousands of hours of effort.
@SwitchForce I'm referring to the OG system drift and how it appears the lite uses similar hardware, not a 200$ gamble I'ma take part in, but bless the hearts of those who do.
I was in a major electronic store the day they launched in Tokyo and there were significant lines of people buying them. Shame about that joycon drift, lol
I mean, people sort ways to do video capture of 20 year+ old handhelds, eventually someone will get it to output video if there is for some reason a demand for it.
I wonder if the "one house one system" idea of a home console has hurt them. After all, they ideally would get that one home console into a house and often a 3DS for every gamer. I know some houses are multiple swiitch owning houses, but it doesn't seem as common as a household with many "traditional" portable gaming systems in the past. This seems like an attempt to replicate that.
@BenAV A lot of games are constantly released that get zero attention. This single game has had 3 articles on the front page in the past 24 hours, with a review on the way. I don't actually care, but it seems there is room for some other games that just vanish into thin air, it seems suspiciously promoted. Again, I really don't care, it's their site and they can do what they wish, I'd just prefer to see more obscure new titles get a bit of attention.
I live in Japan and ordered mine yesterday from Nintendo's Online Subscription website thing here. After paying a message said to expect delivery sometime around Sept 25.
Imagine if they had some sort of system where you could build and share stages on the internet somehow.....hrm. Guess I'll have to mail an amiiboo back and forth to my friends.

Re: Horizon Chase Turbo Pulls Out The L Plates With Free 'Rookie Series' DLC
Wonderful game, but I didn't find it especially difficult so I'm surprised by this new mode, maybe I'm just better at video games that i think.
Not that this mode hurts anything, it's a welcome addition.
Re: This 1985 Promotional Flyer Reminds Us That The NES Almost Looked Very Different
Thank Rob they shifted to a proper d-pad. It'd be nice if we could get a modern controller with a decent d-pad again sometime.

If anyone is randomly curious the name of the Japanese release is Banjo & Kazooie's Big Adventure 2. Not quite as popping as the English name.
