QUByte Interactive has shared details of a brand new game mode (along with some lovely screenshots) for Vasara Collection, a bundle featuring both Vasara and Vasara 2 which is set to arrive on Switch this year.
The new mode is called 'Timeless', a procedurally generated affair "completely built from scratch with polygonal graphics, which places the players against hordes of evil in a continuous battle for the top of the leaderboard". We've got a little more info for you below, as well as some of those screenshots we just mentioned:
"In Timeless Mode graphics are not the only thing that has changed, new gameplay mechanics have been added to make full use of the newly added widescreen gameplay area, such as a new Dash move, and support to up to 4 Players in co-op has been added.
Also, in Timeless Mode you can play with any combination of heroes from both VASARA 1 and 2, each with their own stats and gameplay style."
Timeless Mode Features:
- Procedurally generated game mode;
- New gameplay mechanics have been added, Dash Move, to make full use of the
newly added widescreen gameplay area;
- Support to up to 4 Players in co-op;
- Play with any combination of heroes from both VASARA 1 and 2, each with
their own stats and gameplay style.
In case you missed it, Vasara Collection will also be benefitting from a physical edition on Switch, said to be "coming soon". You can learn more about that and the game itself here if you're interested.
Do you like the sound of the Timeless Mode? Has this one been on your radar since it was first announced last year? Tell us below.

Video trailers like this should be done better. We hardly saw the real gameplay. you want to make people excited when you show it. Pictures are just pictures. But i've seen more videos like this with some new games... just text and maybe 1 little lousy gameplay. Well sigh
@Alucard83 arcade gameplay of the first game.

I know their trailer sucks, but this took me 10 seconds to find.
Why would someone edit something this useless?
When is a Cave collection coming to Switch? @Alucard83 Thanks for the link, unfortunately the actual arcade doesn't look to worthy.
So you want gameplay?
Vasara
Vasara 2
I was already more than happy to get these two bundled so this new 4 player procedural generated widescreen mode is a neat little bonus.
So, with Visco properties being licensed, hopefully Hamster can get in on the action and we can get Neo Drift-Out.
Welp let me go get another eshop card.
Nice to see that they put some serious effort into this.
To anyone who looks for another shmup with a good amount of modes and features, i recommend Psyvariar Delta.
Nice, let's hope they do a good job of the ports. Always happy for more shmups to play on the go! Now how about Raiden DX...?
@Alucard83 Still sounds barely more informative than some crappy pet goods website TV commercial I saw. It was just like "skip the search and go straight to (their site)" and I was like "why? You didn't give me a single compelling reason why yours is better than whatever else may exist."
