No idea why, I have lived in Tokyo for 8 years and have seen maybe 3 swiitches in the wild. Compared to the height of the 3DS when you'd see them constantly on trains and could fill your 10 streetpass hits in minutes, if you focused on it you could easily have racked in hundreds a day.

Everyone here just plays trash mobile games in public now.

I live in Japan and for some reason Platinum Games never hold their value on the used market here, so I'll just wait for it to be cheap via those means.

All these packs and gold editions and pixel packs and tackon content is really confusing.

Get Cave Story if you haven't played it. That said, the regular prices of all these games is sort of outlandishly expensive so most of these games are priced "just right" at 50% off.

I actually enjoyed Bomb Chicken more than Shovel Knight, so I'm probably interested in this for unconventional reasons.

@ramu-chan it's not about time, it's about space and being able to operate the phone with one hand on a crowded moving train while holding on to a handstrap. I'm not defending the decision, I'm explaining where they are coming from.

The "logic" of Nintendo's decision to make it vertical is to make it one-handed so people standing on crowded trains in Japan can easily play.

Played the beta once, had enough.

I live walking distance to Akiba. A bit you missed was the best time to go for actual shopping, which is mid-week in the mornings. Start at 10ish or so on a Tuesday and the crowds will be vastly thinner than afternoons on a weekend.

Also, in general, the neighborhood tends to close down "early", by 9pm even on a weekend it feels like a ghost town.

If you want to go see the area crowded and the vibe at full force weekend afternoons are best. Also, if you like shmups go to the second floor of Taitio HEY! and be prepared to be shocked.

The only Nintendo problem I've ever had is a OG3DS that stopped booting and required replacement.

The official service will require you too run a wire from your swiitch to your phone, open a new app, then open the Nintendo online app on a second device and register a new music-only account, link them together with a 3DS and stream off your phone at 48kbps. Oh, headphone playback of any type will be disabled and you have to have an existing Nintendo Online Subscription. And songs only play in a random order. You know, how Nintendo do.

What's the logic of taking a game off a digital platform? Seriously, I'm curious what it hurts to just leave it up? Even if it sells one copy a year that's an extra $10 or whatever, right? Is there some sort of cost associated with just listing it I'm not seeing?

I think his words in this case are wise and aware, most people seemed to be excited just to get to hate on a thing way more than they actually care about the thing itself. This plays itself out over and over and it's been magnified with the rise of social media. If they make the film look absolutely awesome I doubt every person that retweeted or liked something ripping on the original design will plunk down cash to see it, as they were just happy to be part of the outrage.

Hoping to score a kickstand, some color themed joycons with an ir blaster and hd rumble and maybe some sort of way to project the game onto a lager surface of some sort, maybe like a magnifying glass or something? I could see myself spending easily $100 more for those accessories, bring it to me, Hori!!!

This is exactly why I got no digs on this game.

For the price Totes the Goat is worth at least 10 or 15 of fun.

Let's hope it's not hot trash like the pro controller d-pad.

@Blizzia I might agree, but for a home console experience the joycons are just....not good. Too small too plasticy, they just don't feel premium for hours and hours of gaming. The pro controller is nice in those regards, but it's overpriced and the d-pad is dreadful.

At this point I'd just be happy for an officially released controller that includes a d-pad that isn't hot trash. How are they messing this up after 30 years all of a sudden?

@DockEllisD It's actually about the running price all of a sudden for bubble tea in Tokyo. It got super popular our of nowhere about a year ago and the prices are just absurd.

@RedderRugfish it does support the nintendo online app, but not on the same device the game is being played on. You have you use a second phone.

looks like "mini" to me, not "new".

I couldn't be bothered to finish it, which says something as it's apparently a really short game. Thought it was worse than bad: boring.

@Brink I take issue with the way you refer to the NSMB series as uninspired. All of them aren't gems, but the first and last were wonderful.

It feels good to support devs from developing nations like these. Especially if I can score a deal while doing so!

@presenttense I'm seriously wondering if it was actually the 3DS "Hey Pikmin!" game all along and there was just some confusion in communication when we were told it wasn't the Pikmin 4 that was in development. Didn't they say "Pikmin 4 is basically finished" years ago?

@ChromaticDracula I think the logic is two fold, one they can put the digital release out at a lower risk (no chance of unsold physical items sitting around) to gauge interest around a game. Witht aht data they can decide how many physical copies to create for sale. It makes me wonder what the break even point is for physical switch game production.

Then there is the hope the hardcore fans will double dip. This is, of course, kind of irritating to the consumer and not totally solid logic as Ikaruga is probably my favorite game of all time, but I refuse to double dip in it for the same system. The digital Swiitch copy is already the third time I bought the game. But for sure, some people will buy it again I'm sure.

By the way, enjoy your Ikaruga experience, it's wonderful!

Crypt of the necrodancer this cheap saves me from buying Cadence of Hyrule. Weird timing on this, but works out for me.

I agree with @Lizuka , I'm excited to hear the music more than anything. It'd be neat if for the cost you got a zip file full of mp3s too, but the infrastructure for that doesn't likely exist to make it easy.
