Aug - Drag x Drive, Kirby Forgotten Land Upgrade
Sep - HW - AoI
Oct- Pokemon Legends Z-A
Nov - Metroid Prime 4
Dec - Kirby Air Riders
3rd Party support
Aug - Madden NFL, SoS Gran Bazaar, Shinobi
Sep - Damon X Machina, Cronos, Sonic Racing, Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, EA Sports FC 26, FF Tactics Ivalice Chronicles
Oct - Borderlands 4, Persona 3 Load, OUaT Katamari, Plants vs Zombies, DQ I & II Remake
Nov - Yakuza Kiwami 2, DBZ Sparking Zero
Dec - Octo Path 0
Looks like a little something for everyone, but it seems very underwhelming.
No, really? What gave it away? The prominent role in the movie, the theme park attraction, the redesign or was it the 1st party offering on the new console?
Very disappointed to hear, but not surprised; we are talking about SquareEnix after all.
The same company that went through the process of bringing their classic Final Fantasy games (I through VI) into the new era with orchestral arrangement and quality of life Exp and Gil sliders. Yet, they refuse to include any additional content from subsequent releases of the original versions.
As always, I vote with my wallet. Square, I reward your laziness and mediocrity by waiting for a discounted sale instead of picking this up Day 1.
PS: Not to mention their lazy cloud version of the Kingdom Hearts games on Switch, instead of porting I and II. Then they wonder why their games "underperformed" and didn't meet expectations. May have something to do with your lukewarm effort. But they never learn (Sigh).
I'm not trying to be a hater, I swear. I have enjoyed every video that Alex has been in. I think he is so charismatic. However, I hated this unboxing. I had to stop the video. It actually wasn't the content, but rather the delivery. It felt so pretentious. Alex saying something along the lines of "lets see what accessories we get here, actaully I know what is in here, but you may not" just came off wrong to me.
Congrats to everyone who wanted and managed to grab one.
I'm waiting for multiple reasons:
1. Battery life as bad as 2 hours is a deal-breaker. I'm hoping a V2 rectifies this.
2. Not enough games interest me at the moment and better performance for Switch games is not guaranteed.
3. That "orange" joycon color is awful. Hopefully, there will be more options in the future.
4. I think it is $50 too expensive.
5. Waiting for higher Express capacity and affordability.
List is missing Bravely Default
Oh yes and as @CriticalHit just reminded me, the next gen port of Hogwarts Legacy
@obijuankanoobie I agree, not very excited.
I'm waiting for a V2 with better battery life.
@jfp OK, but then understand the ramifications of your statement. That means Physical Switch games will not benefit from any unlocked framerate stability as the read speeds would now be a bottleneck.
Could someone please answer this doubt of mine? If Switch 2 has higher reading speeds, hence the use of Express cards, do Switch cartridges just become Key Cards? Since the original cartridges don't have that technology, when inserted into Switch won't you need to "download" a version of the game to the console or an Express card?

@Kiz3000 Look at my comment above, I think figured out the limitation is different profiles. If additionally, it does check the license then it would make sense that the secondary opens the game first.
I will say it is a major detriment that you can only lend games to people in the family group. This severely limits sharing. It should be anyone who is considered a friend aka friend codes. I understand (not endorse) the limitations of having to transfer in person, only 1 game at a time and 2 weeks lending. At least you can lend out games to different people at a time!
@HeadPirate If my idea is correct, this is how it works: You have to set up your personal Switch as secondary and download your games. The one you give your significant other has to be the primary. Using your account download all of your games. Your SO can play your games using their profile because they are on the primary console.
The secondary console kept getting kicked out because I had the primary console. The secondary console cannot play the downloaded games using another profile. They are forced to use the "main/purchasing" account. The moment the primary console goes online and opens the game in that account it kicks out the secondary. This would explain why even when it's not the same game it still kicks out the secondary console. Nintendo does not check to see if 2 Switch are using the same digital game, they check to see if 2 consoles are using the same profile. That must be the loophole you are exploiting.
I understand this move by Nintendo seems anti-consumer to you but it is actually bringing digital on par to physical because in all honesty only 1 console should be able to open the game a time. In addition, contrary to what you believe, there is actually a use case for you. With the current set-up the secondary console must always be online to play the downloaded games which makes it useless for handheld gaming on the go. However, with the Virtual Cartridge you can keep specific games on a specific console and launch it even when offline. It's not like it's tie to that console forever, you could always transfer it back.
@HeadPirate I've heard some people mention that they are able to have both consoles playing online, the same game, at the same time. Every time I have attempted this it kicks the secondary console out. Looking at your comments I believe I just realized how you are able to make it work. Could you let me know if on the primary console, is the user using another account/profile to launch the game?
My wishlist for tomorrow:
1. LoZ Oracle of Time/Seasons
Using the Awakening engine they can put these out fairly fast, but we did just get Wisdom.
-LoZ Wind Waker or Twilight Princess
I think the most anticipated/likely to appear
-LoZ Ocarina or Majora
They are in N64 NSO so I find them very unlikely to materialize
Zelda has been a transition series in between consoles so maybe this will show up during April 2nd instead
2. Mario Galaxy 2
We got 1 in the trilogy so why not?
3. Kirby Planet Robobot
I think it is very likely. It has been rumored. If it is packaged in with Triple Deluxe even better!
4. Fire Emblem 4
Another one that has been rumored.
5. Metroid Prime 4
Maybe it will show up in April 2nd to show graphical capabilities of Switch 2 vs 1.
6. Tomodachi Life
If I keep mentioning it enough it will eventually happen, right?
7. Chrono Trigger
Ditto #6
8. Bravely Default
Nothing ever came of the series anniversary.
9. Silksong
There have been some rumors lately. Maybe for next week instead?
10. Viewtiful Joe
This would be a very nice surprise
11. F-Zero/Star Fox/Kid Icarus?
Bunching all of these dormant series together
@nin10doom The reason why there was no FPS or resolution improvement in past backwards compatibility consoles is because the hardware was found inside the new one. For example, the 3DS had the DS chip on the inside. It was not emulated. The reason why people keep discussing the possibility of improved FPS and Res is because it is expected that the Switch successor has the same architecture. For example, people are expecting the performance boost of 3DS titles that occurred with the use of the "New" 3DS.
@Ace-Lucario
It's 51 games on Switch since its missing:
3 Ecco
2 Wonder Boy
Sonic 3
And Eternal Champs
Sadly, it does not have any Thunder Force title
The emulation is also kind of meh
However, it is hard to argue that 51 classic titles for $6 is not worth it.
I am still hurt that I cannot change party members in FF4, get the extra jobs of FF5 and get into Dragon's Den of FF6.
@johnedwin Is that how you cope? You can't stand the thought of the PS2 being overtaken so you have to create a whole bunch of excuses to justify. By your logic, how many millions will you deduct from the PS2 numbers because people bought it as a cheap DVD? They weren't actually gaming on it so it doesn't count, right? Considering the PS2 sales data encompasses of 13 years, we are going to have to wait until 2030 to come up with a final number for Switch to make it fair. The PS2 was an amazing console! The Switch potentially selling more than it does not take away from its awesomeness. It is not necessary to make excuses or put others down to love the PS2. We are not in the console wars anymore. PS2 was phenomenal and so is Switch. Be happy 😁
@Edu23XWiiU I doubt they will make it during your timeline. Keep in mind that: 1. Switch successor is being revealed before the end of the fiscal year so sales will nosedive even more than now 2. Nintendo forecasted that by the end of March 2025 sales will reach 154.82 and they are not off to a good start. They also noted it would be extremely difficult to achieve. With a price cut of $100/model I could see it reach 160 mil in holiday 2025. We will probably not see those numbers until the meeting in February 2026. Even that will be difficult since the successor will be out by then and if it is backwards compatible that will be another obstacle.
I am not in Europe, but of course this comes out after I spend $60 a few hours ago. If it comes over to the US I could have gotten 20% in Gold Coins instead of 5% 😞
@Bobb Manaphy, Mew and Darkrai if I am not mistaken Sigh, yes Battle Frontier would be nice! Honestly wasn't bothered by chibi style much, but sad at missing Distortion world. Also can't believe the Gen 3 remake has a larger Dex than this. Since they are not set in Gen 8 graphics idk why Megas did not make a comeback either. From the 3rd leader forward every GYM leader/E4 has a Mega except for Volkner and Bertha.
@the_beaver Agree, given that it's been 7 years I think this list should be expanded to top 100 Switch Games. Even then, some great ones will be missed, but at least it will be more inclusive.
Legends have so much potential for content in general: Gen 1 there was a War that Lt. Surge was part of. Gen 2 can talk about the burned tower and Ho-Oh making Entei, Raikou, Suicune from Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon. Gen 3 has Kyogre and Groudon's fight in the past, but that might just be a re-hash of Emerald. Gen 5 could talk about the original Dragon and the brothers that broke it into Reshiram and Zekrom. Gen 6 has the War with the weapon that sacrifices Pokemon to power it. I will take this War over Kanto's. Gen 7 could be about how the Tapus came to protect the Alola island. Gen 8 could be about the 1st Dark Day, but once again like Gen 3 that would just be a re-hash of the same story.
@TheBoilerman Thank you! This is what I have been saying all along. They can announce it after the holidays are done to squeeze as much money as possible from current switch hardware and software sales.
@Daniel36 Yes, I feel the same. That first venture into 3D graphics did not age well. The PS1 is also ugly as heck. There are exceptions of course, but for the most part... I also get the "clunky" feeling too for some games.
@blindsquirrel
Parents are not buying those games for their kids in a Nintendo console because 1 they don't exist and 2 Nintendo historically has a more kiddie reputation. In other words, if you bought your small kid a Switch instead of the other 2 consoles, I doubt they don't pay attention to ratings.
In addition, while I have seen parents allow their kids to play M games, I have never noticed one which is under 10 years old.
As a result, having a rating of E-10+ will definitely affect sales.
@HalBailman
The New 3DS was not a replacement to the 3DS. They were sold alongside each other for a long time. The iteration was both variants of the 2DS or the XL models. The original 3DS received a price drop so the New 3DS was sold at a higher cost. In fact, the New 3DS was almost non-existant in the US. The XL model was the one mostly found in stores alongside the "old" version.
You are extremely wrong in saying that it was mostly cosmetic changes. The New variant had a more powerful processor, which was evident in improving performance of certain titles and to take it a step further, there were games that only play on this variant. In fact, the entire SNES VC was only available on this variant. Not to mention, the new nub as well.
You are right, we can only go on known facts and it is a fact that Nintendo has outright lied before about their hardware development to preserve current console sales. You are also incorrect on the timing of the rumors. The rumored developer kit of the Pro version happened after the release of the OLED Model.
@HalBailman Every time you say Nintendo was obviously never going to do a Pro because historically they have never done that or it was because of 4K, you conveniently gloss over how the "New" 3DS is a Pro. In regards of them vehemently denying one, we know for a fact they have never lied before, right?
@Ultimapunch I'm glad I grabbed some titles on the 3DS, but it's a shame to not be able to purchase some of these which have been released for the first time in this kind of platform. It sucks. I hope I am wrong too, but I doubt it.
Why do people keep saying a reveal towards the end of the year and a release of next year? That would destroy sales this holiday season. If the Switch successor releases next year, then it will be revealed early next year.
After looking at the release schedule, it is entirely possible to go another year without a Switch successor.
I would be fine with it; plenty in the backlog to play. Fingers cross it is BC. Hopefully, some developers would already have their hands on kits to start working on games to be launched near release.
However, if they were to release it this year by late October, I wonder if they would be able to keep up with holiday demand.
They may just clear stock with discounts and ramp up production over the holidays for an early 2025 release. It could be announced in February 2025 near the investor meeting.
@Not_Soos
Fair assessment about MP4. Maybe that leaves room for the remakes in May then.
I would love DLC for Superstars! It's surprisingly lacking characters. More boards and mini games are always welcome.
DKC has been rumored for a while. I think it may be cross platform so end of year makes a lot of sense. In fact, MP4 at end of year also makes sense for the same reason.
You forgot the obligatory yearly Pokemon release. Detextive Pikachu and Snap have already been done. I guess Gen 5 remake is up. It could also be a Let's Go or Legends-style game I guess. I don't think they are keen on continuing Mystery Dungeon. I wouldn't know how a Ranger game would work without a stylus.
It would be interesting if Nintendo shows some love for Kid Icarus, but I doubt it. Reviving Wario Land would also be interesting. Personally, I would prefer Tomodachi Life.
Jan: Another Code
Feb: Mario vs Donkey
Mar: Princess Peach
Apr: Paper Mario?
May: Metroid Prime 4? *Edit: MP Remasters
Jun: Luigi Mansion 2?
1 release/month takes care of half the yr for Nintendo and then release the Switch 2 towards the end?
@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot
Second the FE games
Likewise with Disgaea 2, 3 and D2.
In addition, where is Chrono Trigger?
And last, but not least, is there no hope for Kingdom Hearts?
Edit: Uhhh someone mentioned the DQ games, how could I forget?
Ah and Tomodachi Life too!!!
SMTIV & Golden Sun as well.
Can anyone tell I like RPGs?

@HalBailman
Every time you say Nintendo was obviously never going to do a Pro because historically they have never done that or it was because of 4K, you conveniently gloss over how the "New" 3DS is a Pro.
In regards of them vehemently denying one, we know for a fact they have never lied before, right?

Sacred Stones is a great guess for NSO!!!
I was hoping they would remake the 3 GBA FE
There is still hope for the GC/Wii duology

I'm glad I grabbed some titles on the 3DS, but it's a shame to not be able to purchase some of these which have been released for the first time in this kind of platform.
It sucks. I hope I am wrong too, but I doubt it.

@UltimateOtaku91
The Wii U was a failure.
There were no sales to "destroy."
The Switch is a completely different scenario.
Re: Talking Point: Our 2024 Nintendo Gaming Predictions
Why do people keep saying a reveal towards the end of the year and a release of next year?
That would destroy sales this holiday season.
If the Switch successor releases next year, then it will be revealed early next year.

@Ultimapunch
With NSO, I doubt those games will ever come back for sale
Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?
After looking at the release schedule, it is entirely possible to go another year without a Switch successor.
I would be fine with it; plenty in the backlog to play. Fingers cross it is BC. Hopefully, some developers would already have their hands on kits to start working on games to be launched near release.
However, if they were to release it this year by late October, I wonder if they would be able to keep up with holiday demand.
They may just clear stock with discounts and ramp up production over the holidays for an early 2025 release. It could be announced in February 2025 near the investor meeting.
Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Rated For Switch By ESRB
@Not_Soos
Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Rated For Switch By ESRB
Jan: Another Code
Feb: Mario vs Donkey
Mar: Princess Peach
Apr: Paper Mario?
May: Metroid Prime 4? *Edit: MP Remasters
Jun: Luigi Mansion 2?
1 release/month takes care of half the yr for Nintendo and then release the Switch 2 towards the end?
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024
@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot
