Nintendo always does this though. Like... ALWAYS. They have an odea for entertainment, publish it amd do everything in their power so you domt use it in any other way than it waa supposed to. It reminds me so much of Sakurai. -"Smash is a party game" well it turned into a competative game as well and he gets offended and implements crap like tripping JUST so it cant be played as competatively. This is the same deal with Miiverse. Nintendo DEMANDS X Y Z. Any use outside of XYZ is strictly forbidden.
I see two things - miiverse is supposed to be about games and helping others in those games but ots so barebones its hardly applicable. The new update alleviates that a bit but it was also a great social platform which they are now undoing. More than likely they restrict themselves into non existence. Thats my prediction for the future. I absolutely see Nintendo putting in more and more and more restrictions until theres no way to use it except how they demand which no one cares for.
Of course Im going to go see it. Game critics are one thing but movie critics are another. Graphics violent, swearing infused pornos are the only movirs to get high scores now. Jurassic world for example - pretty sure Universal doesnt give a crap what critics think right now... the public seems to enjoy it just fine
I really think Valhalla is setting themselves up for failure here. Nintendo scooped up Bayonetta and the three Sonic's for exclusivity - obviously Nintendo is aware of the PC version and is ok with it not wanting to take on full responsibility for the title. My guess is they felt the title would need an additional boost in sales so they allowed valhalla to do what they needed to. That being said they've been through a lot of publishers now and I feel strongly it will be hard to secure a reputation in the future.
Funny how graphics are in bot hgood and bad - but its true, some of the animated cut scenes look good while play time is bad. I'm not a fan of bad framerate - it kind of ruins the experience for me. It's not a game breaker but funny that Alex references Banjo Tooie - that really frustrated me. Otherwise I still think I'll pick it up once it goes down a bit i.e. $30-$40
I do have one observation that some will like/some will dislike. Itagaki is like xb360 fanboys... they are rediculously put off by the fact that people who enjoy fun slap happy games without blood and porn actually exist. They are disgusted and offended that Mario ecists. If we dont like shooters and acknowledge the genres superiority to all other games they need to "rehabilitate and enlighten us from our foolish traditions".
All three of his points are stated like fact but are so abhorrently subjective it bothers me. There are some who like standard controllers and there are others who dont. Instead of jamrodding your divine intercession to us poorly peasants you could accept that the gaming community is FAR more vast than your "Call of Assassins Battlefield: Resident Shooter" niche. Nintendo does this.
Most ganes have varios control methods - DKC:Tropical Freeze was TERRIBLE with the pro controller imo, i was a wiimote/nunchuck guy atw. Meyroid prime was wio remote nunchuck. Mario 3d world was gamepad. Splinter cell was pro controller but mass effect was gamepad. Deus ex was gamepad. Callbof duty was wii remote.
Moral of the story though, I assume A LOT of people disagree with my preferences above so various control methods are wonderful! And thats cool. (*wait What? Im not starting an internet war that someone disagrees with me!?!?!?! WWWTTTFFF!!!!)
@raghouse i have one and its my favorite standard controller ever. That being said GamePadbis its own beast that I prefer. Having the map and go here control method for pikmin amd mas effect was INCREDIBLE. Even black ops being able to see the battle field was a big help. Gyro controls are better imo as well. the oro controller with the joystock up above is easier for me as I have MUCH bigger hands than most.
@Frank-The-Tank This is exactly how I felt. The rest of tue game was like "meh... ok, whatever" but the finale was so obscure, it was enfuriating. I personally did not enjoy Tengami. I have no reason to ever play it agan bit the music amd visuals are stunning. With no gamelay though ots hard to recommend for $10
I was loking forward to this. I do hope multiplayer redeems i as that was my focus to begin with. The problems however seem irrepairable which is most unfortunate. switching engines is a MASSIVE pain but doing it more than once? I dont blame them.
Nintendolife's ability to convey journalistic writing to video game material has died. They've joined the ranks of the other teenage run crap websites.
It is. I couldn't find it but a forbes articles I commonly reference places Nintendo at a net worth greater than ALL of Sony (this is 2015). People here like to hate on Nintendo (let alone other sites) but they are actually doing very well. Then again we live in a generation of people who wish to deny truth in favor of opinion but I digress.
I really don't understand the bash. I love my Wii U - I went through the COMPLETE list of XBO and Ps4 games and saw maybe 3 I'd be willing to buy. Those POWER houses offer me nothing. I'm completely not interested but I'm not upset either when someone does not to play "The Order" or whatever else. What I DON'T get is why they aer SOOOOO offended and need to "rehabilitate me" for liking Nintendo.
@Kaze_Memaryu by definition of innovative the gamepad absolutely was. Of course it was shrouded by the popularity of tablets upon release. @aaronsullivan see I diaagree there. I watched all of the treehouse footage and it still doesmt appeal to me. Tbis looks like a babies version of halo reach or better yet, Evolve. I see nothing metroid about this. I see an fps oriented around team mechamics. K a solid concept except as follows: it looks like hell even for a 3ds game and isba guarantee that nothing good is coming from metroid in the foreseeable future. Therefore FF is a scapegoat. Its basically "responsible" for the lack of a new metroid thanks to executives who labeled it so.
@Jazzer94 this is true to a degree at least for me. I hated moving the wiimote to emter/exit thid person. Enemies were fast immobalizing yourself was a very dumb choice. Also the pixel hunts. Those were so bad.... otherwise yes gneplay was actually fun to a degree, story was so bad it ruined the game for many of us.
Dude I am getting SOOO sick of this stupid conversation. I see that quite a few people have already mentioned playing Metroid and Tomb Raider without having self adequacy problems. The Legend of Zelda is a game about a particular LEGEND that states XYZ. XYZ = there is this dude named Link, HE is the hero of time, yada yada yada. The series is established and it's about a dude, just like Metroid is about Samus Aran. A particularly awesome "strong female lead" which I couldn't give a rats crap about but it's a fun game with a fun protagonist and I'm competent enough to enjoy an experience without having to have a gender bending avatar. I can enjoy a good book without having a "___________" section to describe what gender is leading the way.
Like I said in the Federation Force Negative reaction talking point post - this is another in Nintendo's "Baby's First" series which just irritates me. The gap between "Push ZR to throw bean bags at bad guys!!!" and "zombie gets poked by a stick and a jacuzzi's worth of blood and organs flys on the screen" is getting wider and wider. I don't want either. I want a sensible, fun focused game that isn't pathetically easy nor filled with retarded amounts of gore and porn.
After a lot of comments and whoever sees mine this is why I'm chiming in: "Metroid Other M was not a bad game" this is completely subjective. The game is not "good" or "bad" it's you liked it, a VERY large number of people didn't. Federation Force doesn't appeal to me for these reasons: The presence of Federation Force means a lot of us didn't get what we wanted. Say what you want about the merits behind that. We now have the worry not only that the next game isn't coming out for a bit but whether or not that will be a VERY long bit. The other reason we don't like Federation Force is because the following elements of the series are gone: Isolation, Spectacular Visuals, Narrative gameplay, upgrade tree (gameplay shows that certain loadouts are available but the idea of constantly adding up your arsenal is non in this game), exploration. This is in fact a different genre in the Metroid Universe. Examples like Halo 1 vs. Reach/ODST are not good examples. This is the difference between four swords and the main stay zelda games. Same universe totally different style. Four Swords had an uproar and sold poorly in comparison.
By the sheer look of this game it doesn't appeal to me and don't give me a ration of crap about "wel you haven't even tried it". There are DOZENS of games I want to get, I"m not going to buy every one and determine if I like it. The ones that best catch my eye are those I buy. Federation is low on that list.
I can agree with this for the most part but I will also add that the market will regulate it self. If a developer attempts early access and botches it then yes we're all screwed and that dev is permanently labeled as a schmuck and no one buys from him early access again. Takes a few knocks but would avoid the additional measurements from Nintendo and allows the new and upcoming to have the chance as well.
@Arlo i have to rrspectfully disagree and heres why. I didnt k ow a new assasins creed was comi g out this october until I stumbled across it accidentally online. The popularity of the franchise is obviously dwindling arguably, in part, due to the yearly release. Churning out games is a strategy, ubisoft PLANS for the franchise to die so they glut it the best they can. Yearly releases also mean a lot of potential and room for error. Like AC Unity. Zelda in contrast has subsided by having a very steady 3-4 yr release cycle. This however has changed this generation with 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011 all having a zelda game. I personally feel if they keep this up fans may get overwhelmed and burnt
Im all down for flexing some creative muscles and using some assets for your owm private little project bit the second you go public with stuff youre going to get shut down bevause youre infringing on someone elses hard work. Zelda is popular because of 25+ years of hard work, ingenuity and smart marketing, riding on that train undeservedly is sick in my eyes. i am a HUGE advocate of copyright laws. This mew tremd that states everything should belong to everyon is garbage. Video games wouod die very fast of there were not IP ownership protections. How could anyone make a living off a gme if the game can be copied and sold by anyone else at any time? Some will disagree with me but frankly its because either they dont live off of crrative work or dont k ow how the real world works.
For people who atemt deep into miiverse yoi get bammed for almost anything. Seriously, i got repromanded for saying how i didnt like microsoft. The allogations abouting mods reading tge message has to have some truth to it. If anyone reports you probability is that youll get a warning or a ban irregardless of content. They really dont. On several occasions extremely passive content ive posted gets a report probably because someone didnt agree with me. Ive had to reply to moderators abd say, "did you read my post?" To which the warning blew over.
@TruenoGT This is what I think. It looks like the copter itself has tight controls and looks like a fun obstacle course! The assets are probably unity store but whatever. If it plays well that's more important to me at least.
From what I'm seeing the visuals aren't nearly as bad in close quarters situations where they are able to concentrate processing power and display significantly less at once. I am still dissapointed however in the relatively poor open area scene's such as Corneria where environment pieces such as walls and buildings are quite poor. Having developed for Wii U however the decision to do this is BLATENTLY obvious. They are using the Wii U Gamepad for immediate processing as compared to a silly menu or something simple - generating the custom audio on the Pad as well as some Gamepadcentric elements such as the reticle/laser produces MASSIVE slow down. Any system would suffer from cutting it's processor in half for two separate renderings but the relatively underpowered (comparatively) Wii U gets hit hard on experiments such as Star Fox Zero.
Good to know thought that some areas are quite beautiful. I personally appreciate the cartoony color scheme as I think that aspect is a fine choice - I'm just perturbed by such a low poly rate on some of the assets as well as low texture quality on environments as mentioned above.
@crimsontadpoles I think most people confuse Reggie's responsibilities. NOA is completely subservient to Nintendo Japan, all they do is oversee operations here in the U.S. That being said, Reggie isn't even CEO, chief EXECUTIVE officer. That role is filled by Satoru Iwata - executive decisions that account for the organizations guiding principles are determined by Iwata. Reggie is Chief OPERATIONS officer. His responsibilities include making sure everything that has been determined goes the way it's supposed too. At the end of the day Reggie is a giant puppet whose job is to make everything as happy as possible, even when things really aren't, hence all of the PR.
So here's the dychotomy of Nintendo as I see it. We have two different views, how outsiders see Nintendo and how NIntendo sees themselves. We see Nintendo retreading the same ground - Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for example... some of us wanted a new Kirby game, but we wanted a KIRBY game, not a new game with Kirby in it.
Then we have how NIntendo sees themselves, afraid to make a new IP that won't sell as well as, say, Mario - so they keep pumping Mario and Kirby, et all but with completely different game mechanics.
So here we have the strange cross roads, Nintendo isn't making the same game over and over, NOR is it making new games. For those of us who DO want a sequel, they fail and give us some new crap idea. For those of us who want Ninty to do something new, they don't, they just keep pumping the same characters.
Agree of disagree I see Nintendo failing to please everyone at once.
I still want skull kid, Darmani (although he is already a costume), osfala with the sand rod and yuga with the painting mechanic would be super sweet, Shad, Telma, Auru, Rusl, and Ashei (the resistance from twilight princess), vaati would be sweet. Even the four sword as a weapon would be chill.
I'm not sure why Nintendolife is doing its best to spin this all into positive news, as they just hammered Reggie for doing, or maybe its beleaguered optimism but there's really nothing that can be said to change many of our individual views on this year's E3. There is only 1 game that I will be purchasing being the Triforce Heroes. I can truthfully vouch that NOTHING announced this year is of any interest to me. Games that we've known about such as Mario Maker, Star Fox, Whooly World, etc are still on my radar but unless there are some mystery surprises between now and June 2016 which is probably not the case as game development is a lengthy process - Nintendo's out of my money.
@moomoo Wow.... I was holding out on a few things until I saw this.
The game looks WAAAAAAAAY to easy as it is now... if there is no difficulty adjustment this this cna be officially added to my "Baby's First..." list as Baby's First Flight Simulator/Space Shooting thingy.
I was also excited about the return of hte 64 map. I mean, holy hell almighty does Nintendo just NOT understand what elements of its games we like? I swear every sequel. EVERY sequel they scrap only the part that people like and drag on the crap that we didn't.
For clarificaton as well I was upset about the Metroid affiliation with Federation Force and then I went to watch Treehouse footage and anything else I could find. To answer they nay'sayers no I'm still not interested. I'm actually uniquely uninspired by this game. I have no desire to get it due to its overwhelming simplicity, unattractive art style and the inability for me to get 4 people in a room to enjoy an experience obviously catered to coop. I like Nintendo's experimentation - be it Baby's First FPS I still enjoy splatoon. So don't go saying "oh you hate it when NIntendo experiments" that is not the case. I just don't like THIS experiment.
This is another piece in Nintendo's ongoing effort to embrace their "childstance". At the beginning of the Wii U Nintendo was trying to earn back the older crowds with a system that allowed a broader range of games but after that failed they took their 'kiddy' appeal and adopted it as a rule. Federation Force is the next in the "Baby's First..." category. We had baby's first fps in splatoon and here's baby's first coop fps adventure. Everything about "Metroid" has been dumbed down or scrapped to accomodate this "Baby's First..." campaign and it's disgusting, annoying, stupid and ignorante. I've been a Nintendo advocate through all of the Wii U's struggles but now more than ever I feel Nintendo is TELLING me, we're no longer for you. Whether or not they want to state it the message I receive from their current 'Transformation' is "we no longer care about anyone over 10, feel free to go elsewhere" and if something doesn't change then I will. Yoshi's Whooly World anticipates to have a very difficult platforming experience come later levels. Nintendo has shown that it can create games suitable to BOTH demograhpics but now they're dumping that and becoming the LeapFrog of consoles.
@bizcuthammer This right here. This is how I feel.
I feel like Nintendo just tried to shove something down my throat I refise to buy. Since there is now a HUGE year long gap I think Ill finally have reason to go Sony. Except they dont have games I wamt either... sigh
Yeah im still upset. I think federatioj force will be a fi e game bit its absolutely a damning sign that no "actual" Metroid experiece is nigh. That just upsets me.
@hYdeks not going to lie bit I agree. So much of what Niyamoto has stated I feel is holding ni tendo back. no f zero "because I cant think of a story" r u serious? No pikmin on 3ds "because the controls arent really built for that" right bit touch on wii u is? Star foxs lack of quality, animal crossings flop and metroids fall from grace add to the wound. I think its time someone else through in some ideas.
My wife and I knew animal crossing would surface on Wii U today so when we saw the beautiful 3d models of Isabelle and K.K. by the train station we were stoked. Then came the "are those ... board game spaces???" Then it was all ruined. Even from the footage though this is like a dumb version of candy land. You land on a space and see what happens. Way to go Nintendo, baby's first board game once again.
I WILL NOT pay for this game until I see it for $20 on some bargain bin shelf.
@ericwithcheese2 I SERIOUSLY hope those fall FLAT in their face. Just pure garbage.
of the new material (i.e. notbstarfox or yoshi because thosenwere old news) the absolute only one i will buy is zelda triforce whatever.
@TheHumbleFellow just because one out of 15 games is good shoupd be a reason to jump with joy? Im STOKED for Starfox, Im PISSED about everytbing else. ALL of it.
Ive almost lost faith in their abilities to produce. We want a paper maruo so they mash it with the one game most of society wants to see abomished. We wamt animal crossing wii u so they give us a board game? Then metroid... unbelievable. Just go curl up and die. The three franchises I wanted to see are now guaranteed not to please.
@DrDingus that is correct. Were diaappointee because his meams we wont get a normal metroid. The game will be fine but its not what we wamted and its the icing that says no metroid coming.
They basically took every franchise i wamted to se and made a game that I absolutely have no desre at all to play. above all however is metroid. This is in fa t mettoid tacked on an fps. Utter bull...
My bet is meaningless. I think the stabs at professional linguistics is hilarious though, by education I was a linguistics major so seeing this makes me chuckle.
Ryu doesnt fit. Snake was interesting because hes not a FIGHTING GAME CHARACTER. Smash is interesting because theyre characters from non fighting games fighting. Having ryu in smash is pointless and diminishing.
There is SO MUCH room for error woth another star fox game I dont have my hopes up. That said, my expectations are set pretty high so im almost positive ill be dissapointed. In regards to style im hoping for an assault style honestly because you can have plenty of 64 style rail shooing with a mix of some other stuff. Its thr mix I want woth a focus on the piloting.

For another qiestion I saw Nintendo and apple take the same royalty on a sale.

Re: Fans Are Creating A Brand-New Quest For The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Im all down for flexing some creative muscles and using some assets for your owm private little project bit the second you go public with stuff youre going to get shut down bevause youre infringing on someone elses hard work.
Re: Nintendo Gets Tough With Miiverse Bans, and Some Users Aren't Exactly Pleased
Re: Quadcopter Pilot Challenge is Flying Into North America Soon
@TruenoGT This is what I think. It looks like the copter itself has tight controls and looks like a fun obstacle course! The assets are probably unity store but whatever. If it plays well that's more important to me at least.
Re: Hands On: Logging More Flight Time With Star Fox Zero
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism
@Jayvir LOLOLOL!
Re: Hyrule Warriors Producer Confirms More Characters Are Coming to Hyrule Warriors Legends
Re: Feature: Five Key Moments from Nintendo's E3
Re: Video: Star Fox Zero - What We Know So Far
@moomoo Wow.... I was holding out on a few things until I saw this.
The game looks WAAAAAAAAY to easy as it is now... if there is no difficulty adjustment this this cna be officially added to my "Baby's First..." list as Baby's First Flight Simulator/Space Shooting thingy.
I was also excited about the return of hte 64 map. I mean, holy hell almighty does Nintendo just NOT understand what elements of its games we like? I swear every sequel. EVERY sequel they scrap only the part that people like and drag on the crap that we didn't.
Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Entitled Fury
Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Entitled Fury
Re: Poll: How Excited Are You About Nintendo's E3 Games?
I seriously hope Nontendo sees these, just so they REALIZE how pathetic and undesireable their offerings are.
Re: Iwata Vows To Listen To E3 2015 Digital Event Feedback And "Work To Better Meet Your Expectations"
@IrishGamer97 this is basically truth. Im uoset at this being our new metroid. Its a fine game but it means we just got shafted from what we wanted.
Re: Iwata Vows To Listen To E3 2015 Digital Event Feedback And "Work To Better Meet Your Expectations"
@bizcuthammer This right here. This is how I feel.
I feel like Nintendo just tried to shove something down my throat I refise to buy. Since there is now a HUGE year long gap I think Ill finally have reason to go Sony. Except they dont have games I wamt either... sigh
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Producer Explains Why Samus Aran Isn't In The Game
Yeah im still upset. I think federatioj force will be a fi e game bit its absolutely a damning sign that no "actual" Metroid experiece is nigh. That just upsets me.
Re: Star Fox Zero Started Life Way Back On The Original Wii, Says Shigeru Miyamoto
@Angelic_Lapras_King nope. I always felt Dinosuaur planet should have stayed how it was... without starfox
Re: Star Fox Zero Started Life Way Back On The Original Wii, Says Shigeru Miyamoto
Re: Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival Is Basically Mario Party With KK Slider And Company
My wife and I knew animal crossing would surface on Wii U today so when we saw the beautiful 3d models of Isabelle and K.K. by the train station we were stoked. Then came the "are those ... board game spaces???"
Then it was all ruined. Even from the footage though this is like a dumb version of candy land. You land on a space and see what happens. Way to go Nintendo, baby's first board game once again.
I WILL NOT pay for this game until I see it for $20 on some bargain bin shelf.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?
@ericwithcheese2 I SERIOUSLY hope those fall FLAT in their face. Just pure garbage.
of the new material (i.e. notbstarfox or yoshi because thosenwere old news) the absolute only one i will buy is zelda triforce whatever.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?
@TheHumbleFellow just because one out of 15 games is good shoupd be a reason to jump with joy? Im STOKED for Starfox, Im PISSED about everytbing else. ALL of it.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?
Ive almost lost faith in their abilities to produce. We want a paper maruo so they mash it with the one game most of society wants to see abomished. We wamt animal crossing wii u so they give us a board game? Then metroid... unbelievable. Just go curl up and die.
The three franchises I wanted to see are now guaranteed not to please.
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Is The Metroid Game You Didn't Expect, Or Perhaps Want
@DrDingus that is correct. Were diaappointee because his meams we wont get a normal metroid. The game will be fine but its not what we wamted and its the icing that says no metroid coming.
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Is The Metroid Game You Didn't Expect, Or Perhaps Want
They basically took every franchise i wamted to se and made a game that I absolutely have no desre at all to play.
above all however is metroid. This is in fa t mettoid tacked on an fps. Utter bull...
Re: Interview: BNC Design Studios on Gemology, the Wii U eShop and Utilising the System's Capabilities
Gemogy is in lotcheck, fyi. See if anyone catches this
Re: Eager Splatoon Players Aim to Make Sense of the Inkling Language
My bet is meaningless. I think the stabs at professional linguistics is hilarious though, by education I was a linguistics major so seeing this makes me chuckle.
Re: Street Fighter Legend Ryu And Fire Emblem's Roy Found In Super Smash Bros. Patch Code
Ryu doesnt fit. Snake was interesting because hes not a FIGHTING GAME CHARACTER. Smash is interesting because theyre characters from non fighting games fighting. Having ryu in smash is pointless and diminishing.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Franchises We Want to See at E3 - Star Fox
There is SO MUCH room for error woth another star fox game I dont have my hopes up. That said, my expectations are set pretty high so im almost positive ill be dissapointed.
In regards to style im hoping for an assault style honestly because you can have plenty of 64 style rail shooing with a mix of some other stuff. Its thr mix I want woth a focus on the piloting.
