Re: Reaction: Mario Kart 8 Accused Of Poor Sales Potential, Ruining Battle Mode And Racism

jakysnakydx

I'm kind of looking forward to battle mode because, honestly? Except for luigi's Mansion on Double Dash!! and Skyscraper from MK64 I just cruised around the track and launched stuff and people I saw anyway. I feel with MK8's glider sections and particular ramps many of the levels won't work but the old Moo Moo Meadows and others will work just fine.

It would be nice to have some actual 'arena' levels but I understand the limits on development. I would love to see it come at a later date but know that may not happen.

Re: Reaction: Mario Kart 8 Accused Of Poor Sales Potential, Ruining Battle Mode And Racism

@lividd3ad Actually racism is the belief of superiority of one race over another or strictly against one in particular. Not including individuals of a particular color or background in general is not racism but is discriminatory or prejudice.

In general, to think Nintendo has actively withheld black people is a moronic thought. Remembering now that few countries are as actively offended as the U.S. and U.K. over race inclusion, including a new skin color to a particular roster of characters for the sake of appeasing individuals I find stupid. If the character fits then so be it but to go out of the way to entertain a crying child from a different country to me is just as childish and insecure as the person crying to begin with.

I'm not opposed to Nintendo including individuals of different color. It makes absolutely no difference. Olimar could have been Eskimo or Aborigine that's true. In future IP's it would be cool to diversify the roster for the sake of it but bending and altering existing fields for whiny kids I feel is unnecessary.

EDIT: People create what they want to create. Song's, books, all forms of media express the individual/the creator. Mr. Miyamoto created Jumpman back in the day as a doodle and loved it but that character could have been anyone. If we want diversity in games we need to create it not demand it from others.

Re: Review: Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (Wii U eShop)

jakysnakydx

@gatorboi352 I definitely feel tha the allure of second screen gaming is in fact NOT off tv play. I feel the possibilities for utilizing duel screens are yet to be opened. Personally I feel every game should have an off screen menu for items/etc like Zombi U and WindWaker as that is just superior gameplay.

I am only a fan of 'spectator view' when playing games that will ultimately have me switching hands with friends, which this game won't. When playing Scram Kitty, I will NEVER use the TV. It's main purpose is to allow others to have a better glance at what's happening so even say the director's/developers. I would rather have some relevant information appearing on separate screens. Clear the clutter from the gamepad/tv for whichever screen is not dominant.

Re: Activision Enlists Kevin Spacey To Sell Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare's New Brand Of Combat

jakysnakydx

@Meaty-cheeky I realy appreciate you pointing this out. Seriously, so few people recognize it. They argue Mario and Legend of Zelda have already been processed through a blender but Call of Duty is still fresh and magnificent. It's complete horse crap. This game doesn't even appeal to me because it has the Call of Duty name. I'm serious. I'm so sick of 'Call of Duty' that if this was just re branded as something else I'd be 20x more interested. IN a perfect world the gameplay would change up a bit, it wouldn't be the slightly more complicated Halo 4 1/2 it appears to be and they'd allow all of these new concepts they're developing to turn into something fun and interesting!

Re: Ubisoft Now "Fully Focused" On Making The Wii U Version Of Watch_Dogs "The Best It Can Be"

jakysnakydx

I agree with the comment that's been said, the fact they are even making it for Wii U is an amazing grace. Delaying it for Wii U will probably piss off the most minute number of gamers. Putting it on PS360 will be their saving grace as the install base on those two machines is incredibly larger than that of its succesors. I TRULY admire Ubi for their support of Ninty. It is REALLY remarkable and honestly I feel that their relationship couldn't be better. Ubisoft is intentionally loosing a massive amount of money to show the world and Nintendo it is a supporter.

Re: Download Developer Hits a "Brick Wall" When Trying to Reach Nintendo Indie Executive for Interview

jakysnakydx

@ECMIM I have to agree with this. As a developer Nintendo has been draconian as the author of the Gamasutra so eloquently puts it but in its own right. Nintendo does have a policy that it does not affiliate its name with Indie developers unless they fund them and then they want to show that they are the or a publisher of the game. I was told this today by a Nintendo rep so I feel it should hold some weight. Indie developers are indie. They are publishing their games on an open network and just like Apple and Google may highlight a few points its ultimately up to us to advertise and actually market from the beginning our own dang games. To pop on a soap box and complain that Nintendo isn't doing their job is in my frank estimation a bit immature. This doesn't say however that Nintendo isn't responsible for making it POSSIBLE to sell our games. Currently the eShop is a mess. It's an incomprehensible mess reminiscent of a website from the late 1990's. The only exposure indie games get are a one week highlight on the home page and then shunned to an almost unidentifiable 'indie games' portal somewhere near the bottom third of the page. I agree that Nintendo is basically putting our product in a small hole in the back shelf of a walmart distribution center but it's not Nintendo's job to get on Twitter and sell your product. If you're unwilling to spend money on marketing and the big part of it which is advertising then ... welcome to business. You're over your head.

Re: GameStop Plans to Close Around 120 Stores in the Coming Year

jakysnakydx

I saw this a few days ago. I personally think GameStop is a sleezy box of rats and am very excited to see this fanless dump go he way of all the earth. There is little to no reason for me to shop at GameStop as compared to a local store who employs individuals with at least a half wits knowledge of something other than Call of Duty and Halo. I asked for WindWaker HD when it came out and he asked me if I wanted it on PS3 or 360...

Re: Nintendo Is Shutting Down Its Taiwan Subsidiary

jakysnakydx

I REALLY don't like the question at the end of the article. Not every move is a foreshadowing of terrible events to come. Every company makes adjustments in scope and scale especially in regards to sales territories including Apple, Microsoft, Sont and Google. I know its a provoker question but i dont thinkwe need to turn on the blender here.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About Nintendo in 2013 - Wii U and Favourites of the Year

jakysnakydx

@ThomasBW84 Haha, for sure, but what I meant by 'a while ago' is that one person will pose a question and then 3/4 of the way down the page another answer to that question is given and it's hard to mentally compartmentalize everything! Just following through on a suggestion for ever improving content. Furthermore, I do like the roundtables better (in retrospect) as it allows me to read during moments when volume may be inappropriate.

Re: PS4 Launch Sales Close to Wii U Equivalents, 3DS Remains Best of the Rest

jakysnakydx

@KennyPowers Never denied that. Never said anything at all in contrary to that actually. I only said it's not an indicator or future success. Was blackberry's first 6 months any good indicator or where they are now? Classic example of course, but no it was not. PS4 is rocking it and I think it's a friggin awesome system but we don't know what will happen in 6 months because there is no such thing as clairvoyance and no one controls the entire world's buying habits.

Re: PS4 Launch Sales Close to Wii U Equivalents, 3DS Remains Best of the Rest

jakysnakydx

@MAN1AC The Xbox 360 and PS3 sold like dirt for their first year. I would say it's unfair to base total success based on only a predecessor. The new Windows surface has sold significantly better than the previous tablet's with Windows OS but at the end of the day that doesn't really MEAN much. Comparing poop to dirt doesn't give you the bigger picture, you know what I'm saying?

Re: Rayman Legends On Wii U Is Still The ''Definitive Version'' According to Digital Foundry

jakysnakydx

@blinkpunk02 It's true Rayman required it but what I'm stating is that it failed to execute. Whether or not the game expects something of you and whether or not it is actually developed in such a way that it always allowing that to happen with accuracy and/or precision are very different sides of the same coin. Any programmer can expect the player to accomplish a certain task but if the game itself does not guarantee a certain set of commands and expectations then its near impossible to accomplish said task. My struggle with Rayman was "Ok, it wants me to jump just a split second after that torch" then when I jump a split second after that torch it was then too far.. not just a little too far but SIGNIFICANTLY too far as though I should have jumped three torches ago. If a game wants precision it has, absolutely has to give the player confidence that when they insert a specific set of inputs a certain set of outputs will occur. I NEVER knew what pressing the jump button would bring when playing Rayman. It was just trial and error.... let's see when the game actually decides to cohere to a set of principles.

Re: Review: Yoshi's New Island (3DS)

jakysnakydx

The original Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite games. The sequel on the DS I actually didn't care for as it stripped the difficulty of loosing Mario to instead have instadeath traps everywhere. I'm ashamed and disappointed to hear this promising sequel falls drastically short.

Re: Retro Studios Talks Up Wii U And Has Been Working On A New Title Since November

jakysnakydx

Anyone who thinks Retro isn't working on a Wii U game is in my humble opinion Naive. They are OWNED by Nintendo and Nintendo is going to use one of their most recognized 'western' studios to make something that will draw people to the Wii U. Nintendo has NOT abandoned the Wii U, that's not how they function; they're going to keep making it a viable system for a while to come now.

Re: Investor Wants Nintendo To Create Mobile Titles With Game-Altering In-App Purchases

jakysnakydx

Without seeming fanboyish, Iwata's statements at the last investor relations that they have a development crew to make 'small, interesting experiences' on smartphones is EXACTLY what I want. I want little time wasters that are free and stupid to take up 5 minutes of my day waiting between class or for the doctor, mvd, etc. Nintendo themes on all of these? Seriously, though, tempe run, candy crush, drawsomething, jetpack joyride... all of these would just seem fresh again if we had a nice Nintendo theme to them, getting us excited to come home and play some REAL video games.

Re: PS4 Launch Sales Close to Wii U Equivalents, 3DS Remains Best of the Rest

jakysnakydx

@Peach64 Thevresson evrryone uovotes is because it isnt true. Take this into cinsideration. Please. The Wii U launch wasnt bad. What happened since thwn "PS4 will outsell Wii U 4-1 at launch", "ps4 will consistantly be sold out", Etc. ALL of tgese predictions were wrong. We do not know how well the ps4 will perform but the reasons people are using as 'proof' of future domination are barbaric. Unfounded. I feel there is a dip in the video game market and everyone is feeling it.

Re: PS4 Launch Sales Close to Wii U Equivalents, 3DS Remains Best of the Rest

jakysnakydx

@rjejr just like many said that Wii U launch sales were by Nintendo fanboys we can probably say the same for the PS4. I think its time people (not necessarily you though) come to terms with the fact that Nintendos plight isnt due to its creating terrible systems but, like Sony's CEO recognizes, is a powerful indicator of the market as a whole. If the Wii attracted a large pool of 'non-gamers' why in hell did everyone assume that pool would flock to the PS4/xbox? Graphics were clearly not important and 'hardcore' games werent either so what changed? If Nintendo hasnt attracted that market than no one did.

Re: Soapbox: A Case For The Defence: Castlevania 64

jakysnakydx

@Einherjar Correct. Lords of Shadow was meant to be a strong deviation from the main series. I don't personally like them as much as the others but I will admit that the series was very overdue for a change which will allow a rejuvenation later on in life.

Re: Talking Point: The Watch_Dogs Wii U Delay Demonstrates That Major Third-Parties Are Walking Away

jakysnakydx

@BinaryFragger Nintendo has a legendary practice of being shady, lol. In the NES era especially when royalties to develop on the system were outrageous. This is part of what killed them going into the 64 and Gamecube. They were sill under the mentality that "Hey, we're Nintendo, we can do whatever we want and people are going to pay for it just because we're Nintendo." You know, kind of like what Microsoft is doing now. Needless to say Ninty did all kinds of garbage to kill the competition right after they became a prominent figure. I always find that funny... they just happened to get it right going from a nobody to a powerhouse seemingly over night and then commanded all the respect immediately after!

Re: Interview: We Chat to BNC Design Studios, A New Wii U Developer With An Eye on Licensed Products

jakysnakydx

Why are the pawns coins and Koopa shells? Honestly I think I could have come up with better ideas for the characters by peeing in the snow. Of course I know that chess set was made by USAopoly as well, not BNC, so I hope this new company can make better stuff than what we have now! Seriously though, the matching game they made is just copied and pasted boring images, it could use some pizzazz.
