I personally just bought this and found it to be a tremendous waste of money. One hour of entertainment.. .actually it was about 30 minutes of entertainment and A LOT of waiting. I wouldn't have actually minded the waiting had I been in control, when I'm holding the joystick I feel I have a little bit more purpose than tapping on a locale and WAITING for the little pawn to catch up with my thinking. I feel no reason to recommend this game for 5x the price as it is on iOS devices. There is NO benefit to playing this on a tv as compared to a smaller, more casual experience. There are few games that have caused me to dream of an eShop return policy but this is certainly one of them. Yes David Wise's music is great, but you know what? I'd rather just buy the soundtrack.
So far everyone has hit why Double Dash!! is still the best - track design and character differentiation. Pairing was cool with attacking/driving, in fact that was our PREFERRED way to play (2x2) but balancing the kart with the right characters and items was a blast! MK8 is my next choice however. I think the cart/bike balance is MUCH better and level design is finally there again. Mk7 takes my next take for it's overall balance and actual gameplay but is TIED with DS as the DS levels have SUPERIOR level design although limited in scope due to technical limitations. MK64 to this day has my favourite selection of levels. There isn't a single level in that game I don't enjoy through and through but I admit the controls can be wonky. SNES is next as it is fun but terrifying for those who didn't grow up with it (i.e. me). GBA I haven't included as I never actually played it but I will say the retro stages I've played are uninspired. Last but not least we have MKWii - so far I haven't seen anyone choose it for a good reason, no offense, but saying BIKES! is like anyone else saying TWO DRIVERS! for DD. In a nutshell, the courses were terrible ... all of them without exception. The courses were also bastardized because of the mechanics - 5x wider than double dash, why in hell did they do that? The shortcut exploitation was HUGE! If you didn't use the flame runner with a heavy class you basically lost without question. And lastly, not that visuals are important, for its time it looked like a pee stain on the white lining that is Nintendo.
@Kaze_Memaryu Thank you. Big point in my book as well. Character selection with specific carts makes those carts a little more special in a way, because only certain players could use them! This is what I liked most in DD, that of carefully choosing your duo so you could use the cart you wanted to.
@minotaurgamer Actually it wasn't for gamers because it was a terrible iteration of the series such that if you didn't have a certain bike you WOULD NOT win. And even if you did the balancing was so tilted it all became irrelevant. That and the course design sucked, the visuals were ATROCIOUS, character selection was pathetic, items were retarded... hmm... I'm seeing a trend here.
@ninjapigstudios You are besides yourself right now.
Your assumptions are the result of disappointment that your mindless shovelware didnt steal the show. Be prepared for honest opinions and if you cant handle them get out of the market
For the very sake of who you are as a developer I cannot support you now or in the future.
@Gridatttack Actuaoly yes if any of these property hosts presented it. Of course copyright doesn't come from posting to the internet. Facebook for example owns anything posted in its service not otherwise designated by users, being used in another medium. Posting to their own website however would designate copyright.
This article shows extremely limited knowledge of manufacturing and its processes. First and foremost lets understamd that indisputably Nintendo is not in charge of how many Amiibo characters Walmart, GameStop, et al carry. The big N does NOT go to retailers and say "yo, we want 10 of these in this store and 20 in that." The retailers choose what they want to shelf. So if your local store doesnt carry it, guess whose fault it was? Thats right, their own. If the would like to order more they certainly can! But guess how much time it takes for dozen small plastic figurines to make it from China to your local shop in Cardston/Chesunt/Columbia/Wherever? A long time. Buuut, you know what? The big N might not have made a very large initial shipment.. why would they dare do this!?!?!?! How about the luke warm reception they've received since announcement? Anyone who expected Nintendo to COMPLETELY understand exactly how many they'd need is an absolute fool, especially given the intermets reaction at e3... cool but meh? I think thats how I remember hearing it
Actually I do think Nintendo should make it's own phone but I stopped reading this at the word "Android". Nintendo is build on creating its own operating software, why on earth would they create phone hardware (which is beyond their current scope) and not the OS which is more than likely what they would excel at? Why I think Nintendo would make a good phone is in the fact that few people can make integrated Hardware/Software like they do. Apple is the ONLY other that I can reference with Microsoft attempting but failing. The accessibility and uniqueness of Nintendo software (including operating software) would make it unique. Each users Mii seamlessly integrating into their profile's such as email, Miiverse, Text Messaging and phone records. Ideas like spotpass and Streetpass are WHOLLY magnified by phone integration as compared to their 3ds counterparts. It would be a perfect home for VC games, I feel and QOL platforms do in fact have a future on smartdevices as would better editions of Wii Fit, Brain Training and others. I feel they could, with proper attention replace the handheld scene with a proper device. Mobile devices ARE capable of running advanced software but are limited due to their methods of input - a button configuration like Sony's would eliminate many problems. I think Nintendo needs a phone/tablet line but I don't think I agree with taking only the low road and I DEFINITELY don't agree with going hand in hand with Android.
Aoetic bleeding is NOT connected to over heating. Im not claiming to be an md but thats a problem derived from a WHOLE lot more than dinking around in a suit. This is a cash grab to grab some settlement money from Nintendo. Ufortunately/fortunately his moronic lawyers dont know that Nintendo rarely settles but will see him in court.
@ElkinFencer10 Yeah, I was repairing systems for a few years and there would be problems in every department - this was just so prominent (I liked the reference to the Xbox 360 in the article) that it garnered far more attention. The only one I wasn't able to repair was one with an electrical problem in the AC Adapter receiver. Never could figure that one out...
@StarDust4Ever Very well said. Most people don't know how the NES works. I've replaced my connectors twice now (making it the third) and haven't had any problems except for a few finicky games that usually come up with cleaning. This however I find very neat. It also eliminates problems with the spring failure (less prominent but crippling as it is harder to replace). I think Nintendo's reason for this was a little odd and probably unnecessary as sticking it straight in is far more appealing to me but regardless. Thanks for the info!
Im excited for Captain Toad bit i dont think anyone was really looki g for a full retail release. I was looking for a $20-$30 eShop download. That wouod jave been fun! Ive actually lost some steam from what I see as an overly excited project. Sometimes games benefit from being small.
PHEW! I was worried util I saw the sample parameters.180,000 smart phone users. Definitely not indicative of the silent majority that Nintendo prays on. Excited for actual results!!!
I will not be getting this. If i want to play a game of chance Ill hit the slots and roulette and if I want to mess with my friends while they play Ill tamper with the board. Producing this game is a waste of resources.

This is something. Thatd actually do very well as a free android/iOS release with lrocesurally generated memes as compared to the same ordered crap over and over. Marketing this game has fallen very short. Wrong audience, wrong platform wrong approach
Yeah going wii u exclusie lromised some following due to lack of co.petition but going multiplat I see as allowing the other 3 wii u exclusive block builders to surpass it. Best kf lu k but hes looring mo ey into an emlty hole.
@TurboTEF This is my problem, on release they looked good for a $10-$12 figurine. Now they are coming out at $12 and look like a free plastic McDonald's toy. I'm REALLY disappointed. Not worth the money except for those that being something exceptional to the table (I.e. Link for now).
@TeeJay not I. Ive never been to a Gamestop where I try and buy something Nintendo related and was not criticized for not buying xbone. It is SUCJ a pain in tye butt to deal with those idiots. Besides the joking about gamestop increasing the price isnt all that far off - they will jack up the price. Because they can
@unrandomsam because you dont pay (most of the time) for news. WSJ being the exceltion but still, a review is different from a deep analysis and this bookbis far more than a quick commentary - it includes music samples and is a literary work more than a 'review'
Its actualy not the profitthat Konami wants, remember that the books author said this isnt licensed but that didnt need be the case. He clearly wants to work with Konami on this. Companies canbe oddly protective of their licenses, even the big N. They'll license their priperties out for the dumbest junk in the world but deny the next best application - this book possibly being a good example. For the company its about perceived marketing and brand value/recognition. A brand is so much more than a bunch of internet fans making fan products, more money than we fathom is paid simply in directing the brand with individuals hired to simplly decide ifbthe current game or product material fitsbwith that perceived notion. This book probably fell outside that. My guess is that 2 months after release they looked it over and deemed it unfitting. There is the last caveat though that NO ONE deserrves to profit off another individual/organizations material. Imagine how much time and moneybhas been put into that series? And for just any joe schmoe to go profiteering? Thats despicable!
