Re: Online Support is Being Cut For Disney Infinity

jakysnakydx

Amiibo definitely needs to step it up. Costumes and skins are good in some but then not in all games. Make Believe had a great bit on potential Amiibo application in splatoon unlocking gear which would be amazing. There are too many games that don't have it and not enough use for already released amiibo.

If the new zelda game doesn't use link, zelda, ganondorf and shiek (screw Toon link) I'll be pretty pissed. I agree that rereleased toys with new poses is retarded. The first one didn't do anything, why do I want another?

DIsney infinity was guilty of this - the deluxe (clear) versions of characters. Silly.

Re: Miitomo Update to Version 1.4.0 Lets You Use That Annoying Candy To Win Game Tickets

jakysnakydx

I actually genuinely enjoy this app. The goal was to create dialogue amongst friends and it actually has! That and the **** we post is hysterical. Especially since it's public and our little Mii's are badgering at each other!

My only complaints were candy, which is now slightly relieved, and the over all lack of things to do. It's like Miiverse, a severely limited gimped social platform. It's like if facebook wouldn't let you post anything but pictures of real people and banned everyone who posted memes and pictures of food. The fact is taht social platforms bend to the will of the users where as Nintendo is like a creativity siphon - limiting their applications until there is NOTHING that you can do outside of their original intention and vision.

That being said my other complaint is I'm not going to pay $10 for a dumb *** virtual t shirt. I'd throw down some cash if it was even remotely reasonable.

Re: Poll: As The amiibo Collection Hits 100, What's The Current State of Play?

jakysnakydx

I'm an Amiibo fan mostly for the sake of collecting them though. I thought that twilight princess HD was pretty stupid until I played hero mode - now the Zelda amiibo is easily my most used, lol.

I LOVE mario and friends amiibo party. That was such a strike of gold to me. I also think wolf link in breath of the wild is the single most creative use of amiibo yet.

There have been far too many misses to justify amiibo outside of collection and when Nintendo says "I just can't figure out why more people aren't using them in games" it's either because A they suck and its not worth my time or B I can't find a fire emblem amiibo to use.

Re: Nintendo Producer Highlights How Paper Mario: Color Splash Improves on Sticker Star

jakysnakydx

I actually don't mind paper mario not being an rpg and being a "gimmicky platformer" I will say however that there are elements that drive me nuts... first and foremost THINGS. I hate things. I think they are stupid, abstract, obnoxious and horrible things. Hence things. I just don't think they fit and this is of course my opinion but in sticker star I remember there was an area where they had this giant area for a big thing sticker to go to try and melt the ice. There was a thing sticker that fit the shape/size and purpose. I don't remember what it was but I blew several hundred coins buying a bunch of these and sticking them, sticking them, sticking them only to look it up online and there was another sticker, completely ambiguous, different size, never would have guessed in 20 billion years that I was supposed to put it there.

The thing stickers are terrible puzzles and horrible items. Stick to paper theme and mario theme elements.

Re: Soapbox: Can Mario Party Return To Its Former Glory?

jakysnakydx

Its really funny this article popped up. I have a crew (we call ourselves the shine sprites) and we get together every other weekend to, you guessed it, play Mario Party. We pound out some of those grueling 50 turn rounds.

Most people count out all Mario Party's as luck. That's really funny because I'd say 9 out of 10 matches I win. That's some really good luck right there! The fact is they're not ALL luck. The strategy is to position yourself correctly, use your coins wisely and shoot for the game changers. There is a LOT you can do to tip the scales in Mario Party. The mini games define skill and the dice define luck but the choices define the players ability and that's why I gain the edge so often.

Sure I can't avoid the new start appearing RIGHT in front of my wife who is already in first place but I can sure time the chance time dice in MP3 to steal my friends 3 stars. Mario Party 9 decimated what I feel is the key that made Mario Party and that is strategic positioning. I can't CHOOSE to go the opposite weay of the star because chances state it should appear there once the other player buys one, etc.

I feel the game needed a shake up, there was a lot of stagnancy but I think this article addressed it. The overall degree of competitiveness did begin to decline over time. The controls of the GC titles are extremely stiff with limited control over the players - they are more cut and paste than they are master the controls. The range of punishment diminished.

I feel at the end of my soap box that it wasn't the core mechanic of the game that was lacking, I think it was the fluff that they kept trying to staple over the top.

Re: Preview: Looking for the Light in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

jakysnakydx

@earthboundlink I always loved Twilight Princess. It's actually my number 2 after the 64 entires which are firmly tied. I found your point interesting though- I think the biggest issue is that there really was no controversy nor wow factor. Windwaker had the art stle and a DRASTIC change, I feel this lasts longer over the ages than the fun factor for that one... I can't even play it again, can't stand it. And OoT was groundbreaking. TP was kind of just a revisit to the Zelda series.

Needless to say it would take my favorite game of all time slot without a few hiccups simply for its great mystery and intrigue! I LOVE the unexplained material such as arbiter's grounds and the snowpeak ruins among others. Truths that are there but unknown to so many! (most)

Re: Preview: Looking for the Light in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

jakysnakydx

This'll probably get lost in the comments but one of the gripes I had with twilight princess (surprisingly nothing that's been mentioned) was the economy but apparently in the opposite respect. For me there were quite literally too many rupees. I just finished my run through (#3) about 2-3 months ago and I had maxed out rupees and purchased everything before I ever hit the arbiter's grounds.

Now sure we can say this is from knowing the game but even things such as arrows/potions/etc I never needed to purchase them. They were always immediately available for free with tediously easy access. I want to TRAVEL to kakariko village for a deal or a special weapon. Maybe Ordon provinces arrows are better??? I don't know, some reason to USE my money and go a certain town. Special chu jelly was readily available and trumped any purchaseable potion. I just feel there needs to be more to use those easily acquired rupees on!

Re: Poll: Did The Final Video Presentation for Super Smash Bros. Provide a Memorable Ending?

jakysnakydx

Didn't really want to chime in but I thought I'd add that Bayonetta was the most requested. As far as I'm concerned I can't realy argue with that. Lots of people happy. I was leaning more wonder red, king k rool, and isaac from golden sun as they are (to me) more nintendo than bayonetta. I'm actually excited for both corrin and bayonetta though although they were underwhelming.

That's the thing. They just weren't earth shattering. I think that's the problem. Almost like cloud should have been saved for last?

Re: Site News: A Brief Update on Our Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Review

jakysnakydx

Mario Power Tennis on the gamecube I LOVED I played the CRAP out of that game. It'd didn't have "power ups" or rather items that you'd collect. Instead it had the power shots which you'd get after a rally or particularly good shot. The offenseive/defensive versions of hte powershot were what made the entire experience. I hated the game boy/advance copies. Never bothered with the 3DS. This mega mushroom upgrade does relatively nothing as it is cumbersome, very annoyed by that.

As it stands I think I"ll stick with Wii Sports Tennis.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Is Receiving A High-Definition Face Lift

jakysnakydx

You can see the side by side comparison over at http://nintendoeverything.com/zelda-twilight-princess-hd-vs-original-comparison/
It's easy to tell that this is the same game but rendered in full 1080. Woop de doo. I finished TP 2 days ago. I was excited to follow it up with this but I see there is little reason to do so. Will I get it? Maybe. Down the road used on sale but not a day one by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Is Receiving A High-Definition Face Lift

jakysnakydx

@Haiassai Going to disagree with you here as I finished Twilight Princess just 2 days ago on my Wii U through my high def tv. I'm seeing these screenshots and the video they posted and I quite literally thought they were showing the before so they could contrast it with the after.

Knowing how upscaling works this is the same game but being rendered in HD. There are no new textures here as far as I can tell. VERY dissapointed here. Basically they opened up the original project files in the same engine and mastered in 1080.

Re: The Pokémon Company Withdraws Settlement in Lawsuit Over Copyright Infringement

jakysnakydx

What I find amazing is that the company could have withdrawn the settlment for anything the individual could have said. The case is public and TPC is painting THEMSELVES in a bad light. Those who like TPC enough will disregard it while the rest of us see a company being ludicrous. For those worried about copyright law the individual was not seeling knock off Pokemon games he was selling a party (which in and of itself should be flattering to TPC) which they identified as a means of financial gain benefitting off the Pokemon name.

The fact of the matter however is that the 'monopolistic gain' by the cafe is barely enough to pay the cost of hosting the party. TPC is stabbing at the wrong people. There are dozens of candid Pokemon and Pikachu rip offs throughout the app store and google play that they do nothing about. This is just true colors and they're not sad the world gets to see them.

Re: Apple Just Announced Its Own Wii, Almost A Decade After Nintendo

jakysnakydx

I think it's a fine product for Apple fans but just like everything else apple it's not of interest to me. Apple TV is what I hoped Nintendo TVii would be but Nintendo wasn't able to do more than a dumbed down TV Guide app.

All that said - what bothers me is Apple says "We invented motion controls! FIRST TIME EVEEERRRR!!!!" and thne apple suckers scream hallelujah and INNOVATIVE! AMAZING! MESMERIZING! And the rest of us are like "yay it's 2007 again!"

Re: Poll: Is Pokkén Tournament The Wii U Release You've Been Waiting For?

jakysnakydx

I'm kind of excited for this as I've been wanting to actually FIGHT as the character for years. My big selling point will be the # of characters. Right now they've released ... what. 8? 10?
As unreasonable as some may find it this would need quintuple to get my interest. I see no point in a Pokemon fighting game that only uses 1/200 of the actual roster.

Re: Wii U System Update Now Live, Finally Puts TVii Out Of Its Misery

jakysnakydx

I actually really liked the prospect of TVii - unfortunately it didn't pan out. I used it extensively at first, I'd plop down pull up the movies section - it recommended movies to me pretty dang well actually and they were across the baord - live TV, netflix and hulu. Then netflix and hulu support was taken out and it was just live TV. I don't have cable but if I did I'd use the TV Guide button which takes all of 2 seconds to access. Booting up Nintendo TVii just to see what's on the tube isn't worth my time.

The interactive element was AWESOME. I imagine not every one is in to sports but watching the game with the Gamepad on the side, guessing the next hit, pass, etc was really fun. The stats on play were also very useful. All in all however that was eventually the only reason to use it. I have few friends who watch sports so it didn't get used that often.

Sad how it turned out. I thought it was a creative tool to add to Nintendo's otherwise featureless system. Clarification - it has games but there aren't a whole lot of non game things to do. In fact outside of video streaming there really isn't anything.

Re: Disney Infinity Sales Struggling To Maintain Momentum

jakysnakydx

I do like how Nintendo has released these though. Instead of dumping 30 new figures (half of which no one wants, see comments above) but instead trickle them out. If they dumped them out no way I would have been able to afford any of them, let alone all. This has absolutely helped keep their appeal. Every character I use is coming out next month though, lol.

Re: Disney Infinity Sales Struggling To Maintain Momentum

jakysnakydx

@MikeW This is what I thought. The Mario line came out but I already had mario and luigi - I had no interest in buying them again (or peach or bowser, etc.) but then there's toad... who now looks NOTHING like the others. Kind of annoying. The same will go for a star fox line if that creeps up. Now they're mismatched. I would have preferred just a non specific line so that there is uniformity across all platforms.

Re: Editorial: Super Smash Bros. Should be Integral to Nintendo's NX Future

jakysnakydx

If Sakurai has anything to say than smash bros will never be a fully competitive game. He continuously expresses his dislike of competitive smash as it's some sort of 'tarnish' on his vision.

That being said I love competitive smash. It's REALLY interesting to watch. (except when DIddy Kong was the only ticket out). I have a small list of pipe dreams for the game that may never happen but heck, why not list 'em:

I wish heavy characters had enough power to make up for their lack of speed. It's interesting to see Bowser as a top competitor now but traditionally Dedede, Ganondorf, et al have never stood a chance.

My favorite levels were from the original smash brothers. Just enough interaction to make it more interesting than say "final Destination" but not so much that it turns into Stone Spire from Brawl where 9/10 times you die from environmental causes. Temple from melee was great because it was the shape/structure that made it so fun (and size).

Remove the impediments to competitive play - I actually think Wii U/3DS has done this but brawl was a joke. Putting in things like tripping JUST so people can't play it the way you demand. I found that childish but I'm very glad to see it improving.

Re: Limitations on Console Manufacturing and Sales Lifted in China

jakysnakydx

@ccanfield1 ive seen this point a few times and felt the meed to chime in. "Mature" content obviously has some place in the censorship but its not really the main goal. The chinese government isnt worried about porn and blood its worried about ideas. What kind of messages are being conveyed. Thats whay they watch out for - some of the "weird examples" for example are messages being blocked, not graphical content.

Re: Poll: Where Do You Stand on Miiverse and Its Planned Changes?

jakysnakydx

@Souldin @MitchVogel didnt see his until now bit thats exactly what I wanted to convey. Eloquantly put. Ninte dos bad at evolvingx everyhing os forced to an arbitrary vision.

I cant get myself to "talk" about games. Really though they dont want you to. Letd admit it. They dont wamt diacussion of any kind and for those who have really delved into Miiverse no subjectivity is allowed. Seriously. I was reprimanded for saying I liked game X more than game Y for inapproproate/judgmental comments/behavior. Its rediculous. What makes it so hard though like many have said, its a double standard. Youll see 100 posts a day with the secret password/clue/hint bit as soon as you post "i liked the final boss" youre flagged, banned and removed for divulging secret information. Moderation of the platform is soviet russia. So no its not about talking about games. Youre only allowed to post promotional statements that boost sales.
