Re: Feature: Best NES Games

Ufouria is one of the best NES games I've ever played. Ufouria is a cute and accessible metroidvania with great music and imaginative art style. It's a true hidden gem of a NES game.

Re: Feature: Best Wii U Games

If you don't own a wii u, buy one and load it full of digital games and VC while it lasts. Years from now you'll have an HD version of the most unique Nintendo console with a classic library that you will never have to subscribe for. The only thing I regret is not buying up the wii vc games while they were there. Oh well. It's a well designed system that in my opinion is the last of the traditional Nintendo consoles. Years from now there's going to be articles on this site about how cool and expensive Wii U's are. Buy it, load it, and keep it for years. It's arguably Nintendo's most interesting work.

Re: Controversial Rising Sun Design Removed From Street Fighter II's Re-Release

Part of the art of Street Fighter is that it is a satire on nationalism. The fighters, the stages are all over the top characterizations of the places they come from. The entire concept of the game is absurd and offensive. That's the point, it's a very silly game that we all enjoy. I can barely tolerate the first change but admit that it should have solved any perceived offenses... but now that it's a blank wall it goes to a point that's just weird.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

iflywright

Had my Switch for three years, the drift came along earlier this year and it is as irritating as advertised. I expect Nintendo will release a new Switch in near future that will address this problem, which is why I refuse to replace the joycons until I know for sure what their solution will be. I even told a gaming friend to buy the switch lite or wait until a new/improved switch comes out.

Re: Poll: No, Really, What Was Nintendo's Worst Year?

iflywright

2015. I chose this year not because of the games but because it was in the era where it was clear the Wii U wasn't going to be as successful as we thought and the 3ds was running its course. Iwata passes and it was uncertain just what Nintendo was going to do.

Re: Animal Crossing Fans Left Upset After Nintendo Patches Out Neat Camera Trick

For me, the most infuriating thing about AC is that you barely interact with anything. Bought that cool bicycle thinking you could ride it?--nope. You want to play that pinball machine?--forget about it. Sweet hot-tub, too bad no one will ever use it. Cool snow-cone machine, too bad your avatar can't make one and walk around with it for a minute. I hope future patches will enable more authentic interaction.

Re: Video: Peering into the World of Expensive and Premium Switch Accessories

I own the Hori arcade fightstick--it's fantastic! All of the arcade archive and neo geo games play beautifully on it. I also play Street Fighter, Mega Man, Shovel Knight, and I'm looking forward to playing Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze with it. Also, playing Pac Man Championship Edition with the joystick is bliss. BUT, I am hoping that when Smash Bros comes out I'll be able to reconfigure the buttons for the fightstick so that I can mercilessly destroy y'all online. The only thing I wish the Hori Arcade fightstick had would be a rubber 'nipple' like thingy for the right stick--then I would play nearly everything on it.

Tying mid/late 70's jazz fusion with a flight simulator is why Pilot Wings was an incredible artistic achievement. I would be so happy if Nintendo revisited this game. For me it would be like dying and going to heaven if Nintendo hired Thundercat (six string bass playing soul hip-hop jazz genius) to write the soundtrack.

Every time I hear this Thundercat song, I think of Pilot Wings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lHjeEkS1WE
