Re: Poll: How Important is the Virtual Console, and GameCube, for the Nintendo Switch?

iflywright

VC could be a huge selling point if Nintendo brings EVERYTHING to the library. For instance I don't mind paying more if I can play Star Fox SNES. Where's Pilot Wings? Marble Madness? Shadows of the Empire, Bond, Crusin' USA, Sunset Riders, Mortal Kombat, NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, Sonic, Doom...
In other words, I'd pay more to play these games, and if Nintendo can't broaden upon their current VC library--then why have it?

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Be a Single-Screen Experience

@shani
It did. there really wasn't a reason to press pause. You could be perched on top a building on the tv while going through the map or items on the gamepad--just like batman when he checks his armband computer in comics. When people talked to you or thugs were around you heard it from your game pad not the tv. you could move the remote batarang with the gyro of the gamepad. It was a very immersive experience. I played the game on Xbox and i thought the wiiu version was more impressive.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Now Battles for Our Time, Not Just Loyalty

iflywright

@bitleman Dude, just naming the few 3rd party wiiu games does not make up for missing, Arkham Knight, any modern EA Sports game, Star Wars Battlefront, GTA, Deus Ex, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear Solid 5...

Plus it didn't take a conspiracy for the WiiU to not connect with core gamers; they didn't like the hardware, they didn't buy it, companies stopped developing for it--this is what the market does to products that don't connect to the broader consumer.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th July (North America)

so it's been a few months since star fox was released, and I've been anticipating the snes version to be released but week after week it never comes through. Is there some other reason why Star Fox snes hasn't been released on VC? What am I missing?

Re: Video: We Need To Talk About Ghostbusters 2 On The NES

iflywright

Great game, I played the hell out of it as a kid, I loved the music and driving the car. I did get to the statue of liberty on a couple occasions. I also loved the first Ghostbusters NES game but unfortunately climbing the stairs at Dana's apartment was impossible without game genie

Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game

iflywright

I have to think that they will at least tease and give us some glimpses of NX during E3. Otherwise it seems really boneheaded not to advertise at E3 and have a holiday 2016 release--it shocks me that they really need three more months after the holidays to launch it in march 2017. At that point what's going to stop them from delaying it to summer 2017 or winter 2017 or spring of 2042? YARG!

Re: Nintendo is Selling its Majority Stake in the Seattle Mariners

iflywright

@tasuki Nintendo didn't by half of the mariners on a whim. besides being an obvious status symbol, Nintendo had business in mind with this investment. At the time, the best player on the team and arguably in all of Baseball was Ken Griffey Jr. Nintendo made four video games featuring Griffey as their face of sports gaming.

Re: Nintendo is Selling its Majority Stake in the Seattle Mariners

GO MARINERS!!!
As a fan, I'm glad to see this happen, because Nintendo always had a strange relationship with the team. I can never recall the Japanese ownership ever attending a Mariner game. I'll miss the Nintendo advertising in the stadium but I won't miss those weird kiosks where you could actually buy a 3ds during a baseball game.
I'm also glad to see Nintendo get out because the Mariners are in first place in their division and Nintendo has shown little to no interest in the team anyway so sayonara. Go M's!

But seriously, as a longtime Mariner fan--this is great news. Nintendo is giving majority shares to the rest of the ownership who have been more committed to the team's success. Also the Mariners are worth significantly more than they did when Nintendo bought them in the nineties, so Nintendo will be making an overall profit from their investment while still retaining 10% of a team that could be making a serious playoff run this year.

Re: Review: Olympia Rising (Wii U eShop)

iflywright

SO glad Olympia, Washington is getting a retro video game. Those screen shots really look like the Pacific NorthWest. Especially the giant crab monsters--you got to stay home when those are around or try to bribe it with Olympia Beer--sometimes Raineer beer is acceptable...Sometimes.
