Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be receiving a Version 3.0.0 update this spring, and it looks like you'll want to keep an eye out for this one.
As you can hear in the video up above, Nintendo teases us by saying we'll "just have to wait to find out" exactly what will come with the update, but the game's first DLC character from the Fighter's Pass, Joker, will arrive in the game before April.
As well as this, Nintendo has confirmed that more Super Smash Bros. amiibo will release this year. Snake, Simon, Squirtle, Pokémon Trainer, and Ivysaur amiibo will all release in 2019. And we can't wait.
Have you already purchased your Smash Ultimate Season Pass? Will you be getting your hands on the Joker DLC? Tell us down below.

I never saw it coming 🎵
First time I don't care about a new SSB character. Still looking forward to 3.0.
More to come... new imported stages that we've missed? I can't think of anything they would add besides more lame Spirit Events.
Am I the only one who thought it was weird how Nintendo called him the "apart of Challenger Pack 1?" Did I hear that right? Are they suggesting another season of fighters?
Joker's potential looks really cool. But we haven't actually seen any gameplay which is disappointing. (Also really disappointed that nothing KH related was announced at all).
On the bright side, the fact that no Joker gameplay was shown means that we are practically guaranteed to have a first party Nintendo Direct to show off more footage. Like Luigi's Mansion 3 and Metroid Prime, etc.
This was the worst tease. Why this was included with no information is beyond me. It was cool to see the Snake and Simon amiibo, though.
Kinda wish they announced P5 for the Switch. Oh well, still looking forward to playing as him in Smash!
@LUIGITORNADO I think it’s because there are five challenger packs and he’s the first one
@LUIGITORNADO The big "season" DLC is called the Fighters' Pack. The indivual DLCs sold separately are called Challenger Packs, since they include a character, a stage, and a collection of songs.
@LUIGITORNADO That got me too, but I think the other comments are correct. Fighter pack 1 is just the first challenger + stage + music tracks combo.
Announcing a game that gets patched is going to get patched again but not saying what's in it or even hinting... kind of lame, but I guess they realized they had a free pass for the rest of the direct after they showed slopes in Mario Maker.
For now I'm not interested in fighters pass. 4 to go.
What's up with "It's Smash 3.0, but we're not telling you anything about it?" Then what's the point of the announcement?
Before the end of April, hm?
I can nigh-guarantee that he will be released on April 9th (IE, the first day of Persona 5).
Alright! Hope that means more Returning Stages!
(Maybe Monster Hunter please?)
Maybe the 3D World theme will be added to the Mario Maker stage?
So we get dlc every two months then. Nice
Not very inclined to get the pass until all the stuff comes out, but I'll be keeping an ear up for the update details for sure. I'm barely even past 400 spirits, but my greedy fan butt already wishes for more to join the total. This and the already more elaborated Starlink update sure were the highlights for me in the Direct's DLC department.
I knew Joker was coming, so I can't say that was terribly exciting to hear again. But It's good to have a datw for him, and to hear fighters are potentially not the only content we'll be getting. Though, It's frustrating that they give us no info, because I don't want to get my hopes up for more single player modes.
@Dr_Corndog Maybe just to let us know more guaranteed development is under way... and to let the Fighter Pass purchasers know Joker is arriving in April. I appreciate that, considering I'm one of the pass owners. 😐
Ok, guys.. so if you check the stage select menu in Ultimate, you'll see that the black bar that indicates "Normal","Battlefield"and "Omega" covers only the very top half of the screen, leaving a really suspcious empty space.
Now, one of the new features shown appeared to be a very pixelated menu with a lot of small blocks...
I'm just saying if the update brings Stage Builder back, Ultimate gets a 100/10 from me.
@Sebas
I had not thought about it, but an update with stage builder makes a lot of sense. I am personally hoping 3.0 brings more flexible my music options (use your made playlists in any stage and mode you want, for starters).
While I wasn't expecting any major new SSBU announcements, I was a little surprised that what they did say was so vague, and that they didn't show any actual gameplay of Joker.
I expect they'll air another Smash Direct in March or April, then, so that Sakurai can show us Joker and all of the other content (Persona stage, music, spirits) included in Challenger Pack 1, and also explain in detail the new content in 3.0.0 (assuming it's anywhere near as substantial as they hinted). The announcement of Challenger Pack 2 in a teaser trailer at the very end seems like a pretty safe bet, as well.
For a moment I thought it was Joker from Batman.
I sure hope 3.0 gives us General Stability and Performance Improvements.
I need a money tree.
Is that the Wind Fish Egg?
Now it's wait to download again and play....
Now that they mentioned this update so specifically people expect more then a few tweaks here and there. Maybe more Spirits. Or is it just a update to prepare the game for the dlc (they have done this before with Smash 4)?
@LUIGITORNADO No, it's just a way to refer to the separate DLC. The fighters pass contains all of the challenger packs, and they said that there's only gonna be 5 challenge packs. But, it didn't say that there's only gonna be 5 added characters...
