I wouldn't hold my breath for the switch version. It's still plausible it doesn't release at all, given the hardware limitations. At best it would be a severely gimped version, way more so than the DOOM 2016 port.
The much rumored switch pro would have mitigated this and should have been a thing last year.
I'd agree with this, and so it only stands to reason that Nintendo doubled down on this huge success by..... stripping away anything and everything that remotely made the Switch unique or noteworthy in releasing the Switch Lite.
"Reggie's former employer Nintendo, is yet to fully embrace cloud gaming like Google Stadia and Microsoft's Project xCloud."
Hell, they can't even get cloud game saves down right. Let's crawl before we walk.
It would be pretty neat for a series of interviews be done on top Ex-Nintendo employees regarding some of the baffling things Nintendo does and have them speak candidly on them once and for all.
@frabbit two changes would have saved Wii U, I believe:
1) call it something else (Super Wii, Wii 2, literally anything but Wii U) 2) bundle in a pro controller with every console (offsets the Gamepad limitations and allows for easier access to multiplayer situations)
Nintendo's approach to Wii U was ripe with assumption, arrogance and complacency. Things Iwata swore they couldn't do (i.e. his "resting on our laurels" comment back in 2010-11ish) and yet, allowed to happen under his watch.
@KevTastic84 joke's on you though. I was in your shoes until i decided to shed brand loyalty and just get back to enjoying games. Turns out more often than not, that's only possible on Non-nintendo consoles.
Outside of fixing the input lag, I doubt much else will improve. The game is already pushing the switch hardware. Games like DOOM run on Switch because they effectively display at 520p for all intents and purposes.
wait so why are both of their heads facing the same direction with the barrel model present, yet face opposite directions with the barrel model removed?
Equally as disappointing though was the decision to keep the right analog stick in that terrible location despite the fact that you can't remove any controllers anymore.
Would it have killed them to flip the location of the right stick and the face buttons?
@YessMasster oh no, they were saying much more than that.
They were actively rooting against one ever existing as they would somehow feel slighted as a day 1 purchaser of the original switch. Or some ridiculousness along those lines.
The rumor articles almost infuriated them, and yet, deep down they all knew it was true.
"the top ten best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch in North America. Apart from Ubisoft's title Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, there were no other third-party games featured."
Console after console, Nintendo faces the same glaring problem. It's simply amazing.
@Ralizah you know, at some point we must face the reality that the switch itself might be the problem and not the 10s and 10s of "shoddy" ports. All those developers can't all be the root of the issue.
I know it's something we probably don't want to acknowledge around these parts.
@Xelha they are the only of the 3 to understand this? How come then Sony has been mopping the floor with the competition with every home console they've released, save for PS3? And even with PS3 it still sold 80 mil when Wii sold just under 100.
How do you explain the GCN numbers? The Wii U numbers?
I moved on from owning only Nintendo consoles because I just got tired of stuff like this. After multiple generations and countless development teams, at the end of the day the issue lies with Nintendo.
I was finally done compromising my gaming experience. Every generation Nintendo is about compromise. Want a SNES? Compromise on adult content/filters. Want a N64? Compromise on storage space, FMV, digital audio, 3rd party support. Want a GCN? Compromise on a right analog stick or a 4th shoulder button, and 3rd party support (less so than N64 granted). Want a Wii? Compromise on HD graphics and (good) 3rd party support. Want a Wii U? Well. LOL.
Want a Switch? Compromise on literally everything for the sake of portability.
Gaming on a non-Nintendo for the first time in, ever, has been fantastic. So many games. No compromise. (I don't care to play video games outside of my home).
"it's unlikely that Inti Creates and ArtPlay are going to be able to get the Switch version on an even standing with even the versions available on the base PS4 and Xbox One consoles, at least from a visual and performance standpoint. It should be clear by now that if you have the option to play Bloodstained on any other system, then you should probably avoid the Switch edition."
And people still don't believe a Switch Pro is around the corner. If it isn't, it would be extremely foolish on Nintendo's part.
@Nomad if you really want to talk about long-term trends, the long-term trend for Nintendo is that their next console is about to be a dud. Wii, wii u, switch.... Switch U?
@gaga64 "As someone who’s only ever bought Nintendo"
Man, let me tell ya. You are missing out, my friend. A whole world of amazing games awaits you out there. Up until Wii U I also only bought Nintendo, and ever since I couldn't believe the amount of content I was purposefully avoiding in my attempts to try and remain loyal to a single brand.

Re: Review: Dr Kawashima's Brain Training for Nintendo Switch - Not Quite As Smart 14 Years On
@RupeeClock it's really just the latest in the line of blatantly baffling decisions from Nintendo.
They're lucky they hit a home run with the Switch hardware in 2017 because things were trending pretty south.
Re: Switch Recognised As One Of The "Most Important And Influential Gadgets" Of The Decade
@SwitchForce not sure I follow.
Re: Nintendo Asks Fans To Share Their Favourite Switch Online Memories Of 2019
@Alztru I just came in here to post the same thing. Are they looking to incite a social media sh*tstorm?
Switch Online has been an unequivocal failure.
Re: PlatinumGames Co-Founder Says MadWorld And The Wonderful 101 Were The Most Fun To Make
@Kalmaro do we though? I mean honestly think about it. Do we?

I'd agree with this, and so it only stands to reason that Nintendo doubled down on this huge success by..... stripping away anything and everything that remotely made the Switch unique or noteworthy in releasing the Switch Lite.

@Cathousemaster this coming from a fan of the company who named their last console the `Wii U`. Ok.

Re: As You Probably Guessed, Need For Speed Heat Isn’t Coming To Switch
Lol love all the salty replies in here acting as if they didn't want the game anyways. You wanted the game.
Buy a Non-nintendo console if you want games.
Re: Turok 2 On Nintendo Switch Doesn't Include Multiplayer
Yet another example of why i left being a Nintendo only gamer. Time after Time, having a compromised gaming experience.
Re: Review: Doom 3 - A Dark, Unnerving Oddity In The Slayer Series That Still Impresses
Playing this on One X and it looks fantastic. Rock solid 60 @ native 4k 👌

All on one X
Re: The Next Crash Team Racing Update For Switch Will Improve Load Times
@60frames-please movies at 60fps, no thanks. Live sports and video games at 60fps? Yes please.
Re: The Next Crash Team Racing Update For Switch Will Improve Load Times
@Sikboy1029 which is one of the many reasons this isn't a good game. Imagine playing MK8 at 30fps
Re: DOOM Eternal's Multiplayer Will Be Equally As Satisfying As The Single-Player Campaign
No way I'm playing this game @ 30fps.
Day 1 purchase on the One X though
Re: Iga's Back Pack Now Available In Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night

Go play literally any other version of the game. The base Xbox version even.

Enjoying this on the one X at 4k 60fps though.

Re: Japanese Charts: Super Mario Maker 2 Keeps Top Spot As Switch Sales Soar
@Agent721 you do realize that the switch is competing against consoles that are effectively 7 years old, right?
And it's japan, where portable is king.

Re: Bethesda's Pete Hines Says "It's Clear" The Studio Is Bringing New Players To Switch
@Heavyarms55 These two sentences are patently untrue. What is your barometer for "significantly" here anyways?
Go look at the Digital Foundry comparison video of Red Faction on Switch for a solid assessment.
Re: Bethesda's Pete Hines Says "It's Clear" The Studio Is Bringing New Players To Switch
@citizenerased Yeah no. Gonna need to see a bit more than a quote from dude that has "heard" people "saying" this stuff.
Gonna need some cold hard numbers to back up such claims.
Like, let's start with lifetime sales figures for their titles on switch and go from there even.

@60frames-please it runs uncapped but rarely ever hits 60. One X does though.
Honestly just check out the digital foundry comparison video to see just how bad this game (and many others) performs on switch.

@Maxz if that's your taek on Sony's demographic, one quick check at the sales figures would indicate that's one hell of a sizeable demographic.

@Dm9982 ok but what does that have to do with the article
