@Heavyarms55 definitely not trying to pile on the #nintendoomed bandwagon here, but people need to realize much like with Smash Wii U, it's one game. Smash's success does not dictate the success of an entire company.
Case in point, what does Nintendo do the next 4-5 years while they don't rake in tons of cash on a single game? This isn't to say Nintendo doesn't have a plan for the next 4-5 years, only that we've seen this dance before. 3rd party content will continue to be key.
@johnvboy yeah but just look at those two sets of number in your own post. They went from 250+ million consoles moved in one generation, down to 86 million the next.
That's terrifying if you're a business with shareholders.
Yes, MP Trilogy please. But I guess you go back to the GCN control scheme? In mentioning MP4, I expect it will get the BOTW treatment in that, the Switch version will be the "Wii U" one in a sense and the Switch successor will launch day and date with MP4, complete with higher resolution and better frame rate.
@BornInNorway81 it really is baffling at this point how Nintendo has not yet put a proper browser and a few more apps on Switch. What's it possibly taking away from at this point?
Aside from this, my 5 year old has recently gotten me back into my Wii U as there's no way I'm letting him play the stuff on my Xbox. And man... what an amazing system by Nintendo standards. I truly believe all they had to do was not name it Wii U and allow for a technology that would have afforded the Gamepad to be more portable, and we could be sitting here in a reality where the Switch doesn't even exist. Hell, even a slight adjustment like calling it 'Wii 2' would have done wonders for perception.
The problem with digital on a Nintendo console is that it's all tied to the console itself whereas on a PlayStation or Xbox it's tied to your user profile/log in.
@smashboy2000 "way more powerful" is a bit of a stretch, and the efforts spent on GamePad/second screen stuff further drew hardware resources away. There's a reason DKC Tropical Freeze would turn the GamePad screen off entirely; they wanted max resources focused on what was happening on the TV.
@WiltonRoots yeah maybe. But I was also a big fan of the "power house" days of Nintendo (i.e. N64 and GCN) which coincidentally were not their best sales generations. Oh well. I get my fixes these days over on Xbox (PS4 is basically the same) and am eyeing a One X if it ever drops below $400.
To be clear, I eventually stated that I was wrong about the sales numbers that Switch did (and continues to do); basically around 8 or 9 months in the writing was already on the wall that it would exceed my expectations and I conceded this point. Some thought I was just a troll but I begged to differ and actually offered up debate and spirited conversation quite often.
NL staff eventually dropped the hammer due to "clearly not liking Nintendo enough" or something to that effect, I forget the actual language they used.
I'm sure this account will swiftly be banned as well however I am not here to "troll" or shout my displeasure of the Switch anymore. Switch isn't for me and that's ok.
EDIT: it's pretty crazy I've left such a lasting impact lol...

Re: Looking For A Brand New Wii U? That'll Be $800 Please
@Marios-love-child seriously this. The amount of VC/eShop titles I've downloaded onto my external HDD is enough for me to hang on to it.

Re: Feature: Things We Wish Nintendo Would Do In 2019
The sad part is only about 2 of these things will actually come to fruition.
I hope one of those is the Switch revision.
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
@michellelynn0976 if it does that's a day 1 purchase for me. Not because o that, but it would mean as docked it would be even more of a beast.
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
@electrolite77 "In fact it was such a disaster it’s likely to be their last out and out tethered Home system."
I also believe this to be true.

@electrolite77 "Switch continues to salvage Nintendo’s business from the Wii U disaster."
This is a great way to put it honestly.
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
@Tantani oh there's no doubt switch is an unbelievable success. PS4 numbers are just crazy though (yes, it's been out way longer).
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
@Ralizah that's true it is the Pro that sits at $400.
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
@Prof_Yoshtonics have you seen the PS4 sales numbers in the West? I don't think they are.
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
It's a portable and $100 (on average) cheaper though.
Still an amazing accomplishment.
Re: Guide: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild All Shrine Locations Walkthrough and Map
@Majora101 ah! interesting, and I bet this is exactly it. I agree, very rare design flaw of this amazing title.

Re: Guide: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild All Shrine Locations Walkthrough and Map
Can someone explain to me how I've found all 120 shrines and yet have only completed 40 out of 42 shrine quests?
Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?
@electrolite77 oh nice, can you now simply log into any Switch and download/access your game and saves? That's sweet if so.
Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?
The problem with digital on a Nintendo console is that it's all tied to the console itself whereas on a PlayStation or Xbox it's tied to your user profile/log in.
It's not an insignificant consideration.
Re: Turns Out The Switch's Wireless NES Controllers Will Work With New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Anyone excited for this game?

@smashboy2000 "way more powerful" is a bit of a stretch, and the efforts spent on GamePad/second screen stuff further drew hardware resources away. There's a reason DKC Tropical Freeze would turn the GamePad screen off entirely; they wanted max resources focused on what was happening on the TV.
Also, many games ran in 720p on Wii U.

I'm all in on the 4K HDR craze.
