Re: Inflated Prices and Limited Stock Cause Frustration with the Wii U's GameCube Controller Adapter

hcfwesker

Pre-ordered Smash WiiU on the eShop, but knew the GC Adapter would be under shipped. Preordered it from my local gamestop, and got it on release day.
There is a temporary alternative. The wired Fight Pad from PDP. A GC controller that plugs into your wiimote. Not ideal, I know, but it does work good and could hold some over until more reasonably priced stock is available. http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/accessories/wii-u-fight-pad-controller-mario/115420

Re: Bayonetta 2 Demo Now Live In The European Wii U eShop

hcfwesker

Duuuude! I've played Bayo 1, so I knew what to expect. But my heart is still racing at how non stop adrenaline action, visually stunning, and epically cinematic this game is, and just a 4-7 minute playable demo. Wow, and more wow! This is how you do a demo. Cannot wait , 2 more weeks!

Re: Koei Tecmo Europe All But Confirms Fatal Frame Wii U As Japan-Only

Still holding out hope. It was given a name "Fatal Frame" in a japanese stream, where the only region the series is called Fatal Frame is North America. Of course, Nintendo could have shut this down, themselves. Tecmo wants to release this in all regions, but Nintendo makes the silly decisions not to.

Re: Koei Tecmo Europe All But Confirms Fatal Frame Wii U As Japan-Only

WTF was the point of obtaining exclusivity of the series if you were never even going to use the license to it's full potential. Survival Horror id dead. FF is the ONLY series that has stuck to it's original formula throughout the series. That's why it's unique to the genre and fans WANT it. But, Relase in Japan only, where the region is dominated with handheld gaming; and those piss poor sales will dictate that we don't get it. Bravo, Nintendo. You made your Smash 3DS to compensate for the Japan region and portable console market, while gimping the WiiU version in the process. And, now THIS. You have no clue what gamers want.

@Ichiban I'm in the same boat as you. Told everyone I knew if Nintendo pulled another FF4 with FF5, I'm done. Smahs Bros WiiU will most likely be my last Nintendo purchase. It was a good 28 years. I just cannot keep defending this dumb decisions, one after another, being blinded my nostalgia and faith I had in the company.

Oh, Homebrew, where art thou?

Re: Sakurai Explains Reasoning Behind Removal Of Ice Climbers From Super Smash Bros.

hcfwesker

Here's my thing on this. Ice Climbers were my 2nd favorite character to use in Brawl, and no I don't use chain grabs. When the full Smash4 roster was revealed last week and no ICs was confirmed ... I never had a reaction to it, and was fine with it. I moved on and was ready and hyped for Smash WiiU, as I have been this entire time. But with this news about WHY they were cut (and the fact they WERE NOT going to be originally cut because they were tested on the WiiU version) is what has me, and many others, disappointed in this news. It is a slap in the face to those who were mostly looking forward to the console version. It's not about just 1 character getting cut. It's about what decisions have been made to satisfy the 3DS version, that the console version must now endure. I'll get the game, yes, and I'll enjoy the game. But my hype isn't the same anymore after reading this news.
And, having exclusive characters for each game would have been better, especially for tournament players. If one character is found broken, like MK in brawl, then both consoles have to deal with that. You'll now see 2 games with the same character uses and characters winning all tournaments, based on a tier list; when each game could have been unique with just a few exclusive characters. I dare say, you won't see many core smash players using the 3DS game much once the WiiU version arrives.
A majority of us never planned on getting Smash 3DS, but almost feel forced to just because it releases a couple/few months earlier that the WiiU version, and we just don't want to be left out.

Re: This New Fatal Frame Trailer Highlights the GamePad's Functionality

@AVahne HomeBew has been our only salvation to play FF games on the Wii, in the States. If Nintendo doesn't want my money, then I don't have any other choice. Though, I feel it may have a better chance because if they do localize it for Europe (english translation), they can just localize it for the eShop in the States (no need to make discs, cases, etc if that was "really" the excuse back then.

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st August (North America)

Very smart move to give Disney Infinity away to try and gain more attention for their new game and toy lineup. They know they have more competition coming their way and I respect their attempt to try and convince more try and, eventually, buy their products.

Re: You Won't Be Able To Cross Swords Online In Hyrule Warriors

hcfwesker

I've never liked DW games. They're repetitive hack n slash games, in my opinion, when I played them. But throw in Zelda atmosphere and references, and you got me intrigued. Still I know it would get repetitive after so long so don't plan on purchasing it ... but then I hear a rumor about the possibility of a co-op online mode that I can play with friends ( while chatting on skype cause WiiU mic sux ). Ok, I'm sold, this could be a fun game to kill some time with friends while randomly hack n slashing through zelda lore. Take that away and you take away my interest in the game.

That's my honest opinion, and I'm sure many others feel the same way. It's not that people demand online play in every game, but some of us can ONLY play co-op games through online modes. And, for a game I'm interested in from the very beginning, this wouldn't bother me, at all. Unfortunately, for me to warrant purchasing THIS game, the online co-op mode was a necessity. I'll wait for further details on this to be revealed but that's the gist of it.

Re: This Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Box Art May Get Its Claws Into You

hcfwesker

@JaxonH ditto on this! I played the demo and hated the game based on it. Then took a chance with the capcom sale and i have clocked in almost 800 hours since february this year, into the game. Best purchase on WiiU by far!

As far as MH4U goes, Im not gonna be thrilled with the transition to 3DS, from WiiU, but getting it anyways because I know I'll easily sink in another several hundred hours into it. Just hoping a WiiU version does come later down the road and we can transfer save files again

Re: Cross-Buy is Now a Thing on Nintendo Platforms

@Lobster normally I sway away from making 'clickbait' posts as some do, but this time I agree 100%. It's not just the misleading title and subtext under the title ... but why oh why did they decide to use that picture for the article. Luckily I didn't get my hopes up and knew there was a catch, cause this is big news and wouldn't have just randomly shown up and been available without a notice beforehand. But yeah, NL, the way this article was labeled and dressed up is not what I normally expect from you guys.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Vows to Reduce Hand-Holding in Future Zelda Installments

hcfwesker

The very first thing I had to do was turn the "dousing" system off in Skyward Sword. I don't mind an opening tutorial of some sorts ... but having it throughout the game is not what I want in Zelda games. You don't get that feeling of being wrapped up in the games world if you're being directed where to go the entire time. Plus I don't pay $50-60 for a game to play follow the leader.

This is great news for us exploration/adventure puzzle gamers.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 Plans Are Full of Tantalising Potential

Hope the Smash Event is held at my local Bust Buy.

@faint "Heck I'm planing on importing a wii from the uk just so I can play the fatal frame remake that I held out years of hope for" .... an SD Card and a USB Flash Reader might be a cheaper way to get both Fatal Frame 4 and Fatal Frame 2 on your Wii Because of Nintendos region locking and not localizing the FF series in NA; I had to go the homebrew route and GLAD I did cause I would have missed out on 2 amazing FF games.
