As has been mentioned several times in the past, Bayonetta 2 simply wouldn't exist if it weren't for Nintendo. The sequel was started with Sega's support, but when that company pulled out, the project almost collapsed before Nintendo stepped in.
Despite this knowledge, lots of Sony and Microsoft fans seem hell-bent on haranguing developer Platinum Games for a PS4 and Xbox One edition as if it's their God-given right. There even seems to be some animosity towards Nintendo for making this a Wii U-exclusive release. All of this appears to be troubling Platinum's Hideki Kamiya, who created the first Bayonetta (also coming to the Wii U) and supervised the production of the second title.
Speaking on Twitter, the outspoken developer explained the entire situation in detail:
I think I have discussed this many times before but here goes… First of all, we [Platinum Games] are developers and receive support from publishers by making games that they request or suggest. As for Bayonetta, we developed the game after signing a deal with SEGA. Later it was decided to also develop the sequel, so we started working on Bayonetta 2.
When development had progressed to a certain degree, in SEGA’s situation it turned into “This isn’t a good plan”, so development halted temporarily.
Without funding we didn’t have the possibility to continue development, but we wanted to get this partially developed Bayonetta 2 available to the public one way or another. So we offered it to various publishers, but as it is a big title, we couldn’t find a partner company. Finally, Bayonetta 2 was about to get terminated completely, when…
Nintendo came in and lent a hand and we were able to restart the development we so desired. Finally the game was released last week, so in five years, we were able to make Bayonetta 2 available to the public.
Knowing those circumstances, if someone is still angry for heading towards Nintendo, I wonder what’s the reason for that, wouldn’t you tell me in a way that is easy to understand?
As I have said earlier, if you want Bayonetta 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, how about trying to ask Nintendo… If Nintendo doesn’t say yes, it’s not going to happen… While you’re at it, try asking for Mario and Zelda too…
While Kamiya's comments don't really add anything we didn't already know, it spells out things pretty simply for PS4 and Xbox One owners: this is Nintendo's game, so don't expect to see it ported to any other platforms.

Awesome! Payback time!
Haha!
ZING!
Guess with all ps and one third party support you expect they to be happy with the games they have but want it all.seems like a bunch of spoil kids companion land crying out ,"Nintendo stole our game".sad just buy a U.they have too much power.buy a console with no games(another shoot em .. just like the rest of games)and more money than U. And then laugh at U
How often does Nintendo get decent third party game exclusives now? Not very often, so people should either get a WiiU or shut up.
Kamiya is always good for a laugh
Funny thing is.......I have an Wii U, Xbox One and this year I'll get a PS4 but I really don't care about your game so do whatever you want I got better..
Excellent reply. It's not that Platinum have anything against other consoles either, it's just in this case, without Nintendo, Bayonetta 2 would not be here. End of. It's nice for once that we will get something others want and i've even pre-ordered the first print despite not playing it before as i've enjoyed what i've seen. For example, Capcom had a massive hit with Revelations on the 3ds and made a HD port as it did so well. The sequal? Nope, not on Nintendo and we get shafted. Hopefully this'll be a lesson for Sony, Microsoft and other and they won't forget how it feels in a hurry. I just hope the sales are good though as they deserve to be supported
Bang Bang ~
It's not very often Nintendo fans get to troll the Dudebro's,so saviour it while you can
Meh, they're just mad because Wii U isn't just a worse PC with upgraded Xbox 360 ports.
This is perhaps my most anticipated game in years, been waiting for it since it's first announcement, and I'm really happy Nintendo gave them the chance to make it, and redo the first game as well, as an added bonus. Add that gorgeous first print edition, and the announcement of Devil's Third being picked up by Nintendo as a next project, and I'm only really sad they seem to plan on not releasing yet another Project Zero/Fatal Frame outside of Japan, as far as third party for Nintendo goes.
I'd even go as far as to say I prefer the way Nintendo works with third parties nowadays. Close collaboration, original products, Nintendo content, and a completely different, more varied lineup. If they cooperate, and don't stab N in the back.
I would never buy this game have they not ported the first one. I'm glad they did! Day one buy!
@OorWullie

Like this:
I love my Gamepad!
Its a known fact that rabbid fanboys dont like Nintendo having good exclusives.
Its usually "Nintendo sucks, kiddie rubbish, blah blah, etc" Then the second Nintendo gets a nice exclusive such as this "Wah wah, port it to my system of choice wah wah this is an outrage wah wah wah!"
It's really nice that Nintendo has another exclusive to add to their ranks, but it's only because they were rejected by everyone else first, so...I have mixed feelings.
@OorWullie @BensonUii

I'm pretty sure that now that the game has Star Fox, Mario and Zelda costumes and items in it, there is no way that it could ever be ported to any console without Nintendo's authorization to use their IPs.
Someone should ask him how Starfox U development is going, we all know he's gonna have a hand in it;)
@Randomname19
LOL FTW!
Hahah take that!!! sony drones and xbots xD
@ReaperX30 Please make sense.
You dont have a better game than Bayonetta 2. and you wont until something like Bloodborne is released.
Bayonetta makes them angry because they dont have anything worth playing. right now.
Seriously stupid for fanboys to still request this great game to be ported to their consoles. If it was 3rd party than this game never would have existed, Nintendo made this game fantastic with Platinum just buy a Wii U if you want this game so bad. Platinum should be a Nintendo 2nd party as Kamiya expressed interest before. We could have had Star Fox being made by them but everyone just had to hound him for mire info. Good the Miyamoto's new team is working on it
What are they complaining about? They've got 5 editions of Fifa and CoD to play.
I'm amazed at the ignorance and arrogance of some people. So there's one game not coming to their systems but loads not coming to the Wii U. Do some people really want their cake and eat it??
Actually I'm glad there's this many people that are miffed. Perhaps if Nintendo could arrange some more third party exclusives then maybe more people would invest in the Wii U instead of the other two.
If Nintendo could make Platinum 2nd party and buy Capcom I think they would have a great future.
This isn't even the same ballpark as Mario & Zelda, it's more akin to non owned IP published titles I've encountered.
@Randomname19 hahahaha, brilliant!
@CaptainToad agreed- Nintendo could perhaps step in to revive beloved franchises that were carelessly scrapped by many big publishers in their race for obscene profits. It would certainly reinforce their philosophy of prioritising games and fun over trends and chasing the quickest buck.
There must be hundreds of oppurtunities in this sector, not necessarily the same model as Platinum and Bayonetta 2, but simply listening to the actual players of games and investing in the loyalty of an established fanbase. Nintendo- the games saviour! No no, THIS is for the players, Sonny
Well , if people want B2 on ps4 or xbone then I want uncharted 4 on the WiiU.
See how that works? It's not going to happen.
@Fazermint Exactly
It's kind of funny where every you read gamingnews. In Nintynews, there is ALWAYS box and ps players commenting, complaining and whining "die Ninty" "Kid's console" etc. but you never see Nintyplayer going around PS or Box news and doing the whining. We are above that ( I do own older PSs)
And do they really think that whining and whining will get them a game?
But like someone said, they really don't have much to play at the moment (give me one OMGWONDERUFLGAME! for Ps4 and XBone that is only for those and not also for 360 and 3)
Payback!!! Anyway... If they want it so bad get a Wii U, all I hear from Xbox and Playstation fans is, "Oh, Nintendo's not gonna make it, oh they're games suck, etc." and then we get a game NINTENDO brought to revival and they whine, BUY A WIIU or deal with it as it is, NINTENDO brought this game out with their own funds, they deserve this as an Nintendo exclusive.
Remember when he snapped a few months back. I'm glad to see he has stopped letting the trolls bug him and now lets it pass him by. Nintendo saw a great opportunity and snapped it up. Bayonetta was great and having exclusive rights to the sequel is one of the best decisions Nintendo have made in the Wii U life span.
@Finntendo You mean not a last gen port or a sequel...
As sweet as the tears of Xbone and PS4 players are, I think the best way to describe their reaction is that they don't want to watch a game they want, fail. Because they perceive the Wii U as a failed console. So if Bayo is exclusive to Wii U, it can't possibly succeed and there won't ever be a Bayo 3 anywhere.
Also there's some selfish entitlement in there.
This colossal middle finger of a response is delightfully karmic. Hopefully the PS/X gamers have had their fun with their (allegedly) "multiplatform" titles which casually always ended up skipping Nintendo consoles. Now it's our turn - and as the first commenter said: payback time!
Also, Bayonetta getting a trophy in the WiiU version of Super Smash Bros would be the icing on the cake.
@BensonUii
What movie is that GIF from, anyway?
@AlexSora89
It's from Zoolander, Ben Stiller's comedy movie from 2001.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Is this STILL going ? Are people still bugging him about this ?
How ignorant can you be ?
No one wanted the franchise, Nintendo made it possible, end of story.
Its not THAT hard to understand, is it ?
But its funny. If something doesnt come to the WiiU, all the other fanboys wave it off with "buy console X" but if something is WiiU exclusive, they demand it to be on their system.
Thats your multi console AAA market in a nutshell. People have forgotten what "Exclusive games" mean, the thing, was made past generation interesting and lively.
They could always take it one step further and say they've got a team in North Korea working on a bare-bones port for the PSBox. There won't be any DLC, it'll be out a year after the WIi U release, and it'll still be $10 more.
Nobody complains about Wonderful 101 being exclusive.
@Jim_Purcell There's a reason for that.
Ciao @AlexSora89

What @Kolzig said. You don't know he popularized "duck face" ?
Yeah and where was Sony and Microsoft when they approached other developers? I bet they did try. So hey well done Nintendo
I can't really believe people still complain about this. How can people not get this into their thick skull?
@Finntendo So true. Nintendo players don't have time to be whining, we're too busy playing awesome games.
X1 and PS4 owners will just have to do with the commodity titles being developed for those consoles and the occasional, overhyped AAA+ title that actually isn't that good (like the recent disaster, Destiny). If you chose a console based purely on the promise of better graphics, well that's your problem.
Wii U could be a house of alternative AAA games, like Bayonetta 2, No More Heores 3 and etc.
@Frank90 I second this motion Sir!
I love kamiya. Gaming is plain and simple. If you want to play everything, you buy everything. I never understand why people act like there is an embargo on purchasing a different system once they buy one. I've heard the argument that people don't want to buy a system for "one game" but quite frankly I've found on my least favorite system (usually ps3 and psp) I end up discovering some gems that I would have ignored otherwise. I don't buy the pricing argument because anybody can save. Even little kids with an allowance
It surprises me how ignorant fanboys can be sometimes. If you wanted this game for Xbox or Playstation, then they should really blame Sony and Microsoft for not helping with the funding.
Based Kamiya keeping his hands off this exclusivity nonsense.
Also proves that if you like a game, and want a sequel, buy the damn thing and don't complain if it goes somewhere else because it wasn't successful enough.
There actually are people who are mad that Mario Kart 8 isn't on PS4 and XBone.
@Damo "fans seem hell-bent on haranguing developer Platinum Games for a PS4 and Xbox One edition as if it's their God-given right." And this my friends is why im happy to be a part of the Nintendo Life community! LMAO!!! CHEERS!!!!
@Jim_Purcell wow…just wow…its a very sad truth my friend and it hurts…W101 is one of the most creative action packed fun games ive ever played…my son and i still enjoy playing the co-op mode! more people should know of this games greatness!
@LunaticPandora yup and the reason is stupidity and ignorance…maybe it was just ahead of its time and people werent able to handle its awesomeness or just didnt want a challenging fun game?
I think this just simplifies some of his earlier tweets about the issue
https://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/351516806546067459
@TeeJay Don't forget that most companies only care about sales and popularity. Nintendo, even though they care about sales as well as popularity as well, still cares about quality games. Both Bayonetta games are quality games, just not CoD or Destiny popular (because they are not point and shoot games). Hopefully that helps sort some of your mixed feelings.
You have to remember, people could be wondering if it is a timed exclusive, or something like that. Exclusive games have come to other consoles before, even if it took 5 years (like with Mass Effect 1).
At the end of the day, I hate to say it but the other 2 will be getting a lot more 3rd party titles, so we should not gloat. I for one would have traded this game away in exchange for some of the 3rd parties we are not getting like Kingdom Hearts 3 or Final Fantasy 14.
But hey at least they can watch their friends that have a Wii U play it
Well said (again). People need to just be quiet.
I'm getting so much out of Hyrule Warriors that Bayonetta may need to be put on hold for a while. First world WiiU problems right there.
Boom roasted. Out of all of this, Sega dun goof'd.
@Frank90 Isn't it already? The exclusives on the WiiU are an impressive bunch!
Its funny because some games like Sonic games for Nintendo tend to be exclusive to those systems only and no one complains about those quality Sonic games?
What about Professor Layton? That game can be even on Vita but nope. Its Nintendo character for sure! Btw I wonder if Smash will show Professor Layton as a trophy? I mean the character is Nintendo exclusive with maybe one game exception but still.....
@shigulicious
Yes it is! But what I mean is second/third parties exclusives.
But the thing that I most want on Wii U is Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei!
It would be funny if they shop it to XBO for a few Nintendo Minecraft releases in return. A spin-off on 3DS and a proper port on WiiU with some Nintendo-themed bells and whistles.
this is why we all love kamiya! so blunt but tells the truth!
@shigulicious Agreed. Adventure mode is fricken huge. I may actually not be glued to smash come friday.
@Jaz007 I think mass effect is a little unique since bioware got bought out by EA. Which I'm sure they had pockets deep enough or a sufficient amount of leverage to circumvent the fact that Microsoft published the first game. If I'm not mistaken ME was supposed to be an 360 only franchise at one point.
@KodyDawg 'Ey Cake! I don't know a single person who isn't thinking about getting a Wii U anymore!!!
if they have the money to buy an expensive PS4 or XB1 surely they have the money to buy WiiU seriously its not that expensive.
@ReaperX30 Really? What games do those other systems have besides shooters and upgraded ports? You sound like a bitter fanboy, I wonder why you would even visit a Ninty site if you hate em so much?
@vamkar LMAO! That's cold.
Seriously though. Do people say this about Halo or Uncharted? I always find it odd that Nintendo always gets the "they should put this on system x!" outcries.
Feels good, man.
@vamkar Lol okay that one got me .
Even if i didnt have a Wii U i would have got one for Bayo2. Atleast the other consoles are getting Korra on the 22nd so they can play some Platinum goodness. Im picking it up for PS4 and maybe 3DS if that version turns out okay.
@MadAdam81
Yes, sorry I typed in a hurry.
Wii U was critisized for "no games" for a year, I don¨t think it looks much more for those two.
Bayonetta 2 (including its franchise) wouldn't exist without Nintendo funding and publishing the project for developer Platinum Games. Although the development company isn't for sale, they've shown a very strong relationship with the Big N in making this sequel more than just a reality. Heck... even Nintendo had informed the team to remove Link's undershirt for Bayonetta while wearing the hero's outfit. I'm glad that Bayonetta shows absolutely no shame in wearing Nintendo themed costumes... including Fox McCloud.
23 days until Bayonetta 2 launches in the United States & Canada and your continent... Europe (especially the UK).
@readyletsgo The difference is you're talking about one of Sony's first party studio's versus a 3rd party developer's game. No way would Uncharted 4 come to any system, but Sony. Just like Mario wouldn't go anywhere, but Nintendo.
Still, this is rather tiresome. If you want the f'ing game, purchase a Wii U. Otherwise...STFU! Move on Sony and Xbox fanboys! Maybe they (Sony/Microsoft) should have stepped up and funded the game. Now you want to cry it's not coming to your console. Well tough tatas. This is a day one purchase for me on the WII U. I can't wait for it. Also the added fact that I can enjoy the game without having to worry about trophies and achievements is an added plus.
HAHAAAAAAAA We captured Bayonetta and we're not giving her back! Now, if only we could capture Mega Man...
I don't get this generation of gamers at all.
The point of having three different consoles is for their exclusives. Yet, they moan and whine every time there's a timed exclusive or in this case where the game wouldn't even freaking exist if it weren't made as an exclusive. If there are games you want on other consoles THEN BUY THE COTTON PICKING CONSOLE THAT'S THE REASON THEY HAVE THOSE EXCLUSIVES IN THE FIRST PLACE MORONS! But no, you're so married to a freaking brand that you won't ever see a dime from that the thought of actually going after what you want is blasphemous. Unbelievable.
Kamiya sounds so freaking done with these thick skulled fanboys, honestly he's justified to be a whole lot more snappy but obviously that wouldn't be professional.
I have seen some truly disgusting responses from "fans" to the Wii U exclusive. If anyone questions my use of the word "entitlement", do a Google search for some responses to this. It's truly baffling
Finally its about time someone say that, its kind of annoying hearing idiots say. "Well I want Mario & Zelda on PS4" Or "I want Bayonetta on PS4". — You want to play a game that's exclusive to a console well then go buy it, just like others if you want to play Halo you have to buy a Xbox 360 or Xbox One.
To me Bayonetta seems like a Nintendo title- in as much it's zany, colourful lively, funny, unique and... well, VERY Japanese.
XB1 and PS4 apparently only do grey/brown sequel games where Americans scowl at the moment.
Always good for a laugh Kamiya.
Here's what I don't get, the first Bayonetta sold a little over a million copies on two systems. That's the entire reason why Sega did not want to fund and publish a sequel, they did not see any potential in the franchise.
So why the big fuss if Nintendo gets this game? Not trying to sound insulting here, but we're not talking about a Devil May Cry, God of War, or Ninja Gaiden here. Bayonetta is a niche franchise. How many Xbox and Playstation gamers would have bought this game were it on their systems anyway? How many of them bought the first game.
They are crying over a game that many of them likely did not care about in the first place. Nintendo did not get exclusive rights to a big third-party franchise here. Bayonetta has its fans, but its no Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Street Fighter, or Madden in terms of fanbase and popularity.
Maybe Bayonetta 2 is better off on Nintendo platforms. At least it will get the attention it deserves as as opposed to being lost in the sea of games that are coming to Playstation and Xbox.
But people really need to stop acting like spoiled brats. Nintendo has lost far larger franchises to Sony and Microsoft in the past(Final Fantasy anyone?) and their fans pretty much carried on. I would assume many people got a PS1 to play alongside their N64 so they could play Final Fantasy VII.
But when the reverse happens, everyone cries like a spoiled child. And it's not even over a major franchise!
Bayonetta is a niche series that barely sold a million!
Good lord, I think there was less fuss when the Xbox One got Tomb Raider as an exclusive, and it's a much bigger series.
Sometimes, I am just disgusted by the self-entitlement of modern gamers.
I would like to type I can't believe some idiots don't get this yet but it's not really a surprise.
And even more Xbone fanboys are buttblasted now, thanks to Kamiya.
Time for the song that best celebrates this moment.
Heh, Kamiya's twitter is always at the very least entertaining.
@vamkar I posted that in the image thread
ULTIMATE PAYBACK!
Oh I'm sorry xbox and Ps boys, after having the WiiU getting burned through SO many 3rd party games and you pretty much having the opposite, now you want this?
sorry
I dunno what all the clamouring is about, this isn't Metal Gear or Final Fantasy, meaning this isn't a widely sold game, its a high profile niche game. If Sony or Microsoft were actually interested, let alone EA, UBI, SQUARE or Activision, then they had their chance, Nintendo is taking a HUGE risk, but they chose to partner up, and because of that, because of Nintendo's decision is the sole reason that we have this game AT ALL! So if you really really really want the game, go buy a Wii U, because like Kamiya said, its the ONLY way you will be able to play this game.
Epic responses here. The fact that those fanboys are crying will make me enjoy this game much more. I will have so much fun playing this.
XD
@TeeJay This is a Triple A project, not every publisher has the money to fund it, that's why they rejected it, not because it was bad, it was because it was expensive.
To all those Sony and Xbone fanboys...

I'm still amazed (in a good way) that Nintendo funded this game. Doesn't seem to fit their MO at all.
Bazinga. Kamiya is basically saying f**k off.
Guess there's always next generation that "might" get this as a port to those systems, but yeah, sounds like this one is truly, truly, Nintendo exclusive. I'm sure there will always be some people that will say things like "Bayonetta wasn't all that good anyway" lol
So, does the same comply when asking for localization of a WiiU exclusive title/series? Say like .... Fatal Frame 5
Typical Sony ponies and xbots b*tching and moaning, as usual. Bunch of grown men crying over plastic.
Meh. I haven't seen any complaints for a while, TBH. Everyone was throwing a fit, at first, but it seems like the attitude has changed to "It's on Wii U, so I don't care(!)".
Angry people need to get a clue.
They could always just buy a Wii U.
Wasn't this common sense? Sure I get that the original came out on PS3 and Xbox 360 at the time, but Nintendo is publishing the second game out of their own pocket so of course it isn't coming to the other systems!
I guess if some fans want this game that much, and nothing else on the Wii U appeals, it is an expensive outlay for one title. I was annoyed when Outrun 2 skipped the Gamecube and I had to buy an Xbox.
Still, there it is, want the game buy the console. Im happy with PS3 and retro collection at the moment, next gen can wait!
Nintendo are paying for it, sony and microsoft aren't ergo no ps4 Xbone version.
And I wouldn't be surprise if the game sells well Nintendo will snap up Bayonetta.
Next thing you'll know people would be complaining that Devil's Third is not coming to their PlayStations or Xboxs either.
Wii U only owners are always told to shut up whenever they complain about games not coming to the Wii U, but when there's ONE game exclusive to the Wii U that PS4/Xbox One owners want, they start complaining like five year olds.
You know honestly, as Nintendo, i would allow the game to come to ps4 and xbox one in 3 years. by then the game will likely have all the sales its going to get, and then they can get more money off of it.
Why are those XB/PS fanboys blaming Nintendo and even Platinum?
If there's anyone they should blame, it's SEGA.
Sega won't pony up the cash to make it multiplat.
Anyway, now I can add this game to one of the many things XB/PS doesn't have. More pointing of water guns and fingers; and schadenfreude...
This whole thing is entitlement at its finest, glad to see a clear, precise explanation from Kamiya himself. The endless "OMG! Why is it only coming to Nintendo!" and "Nintendo's too kiddie, they're gonna ruin it!" complaints are really irritating.
The funny thing is theres also been plenty of "Nintendo fans only like kiddie games" arguments, when not only is that a false accusation, Playstation and Xbox fans didn't care about Bayonetta either. Apparently Nintendo isn't allowed to have M-rated games, they're only supposed to have those "kiddie" games.
I don't think the Monster Hunter fanbase griped this much when Capcom jumped ship, and thats a much bigger series overall.
......Yeah, and Nintendo fans have been asking for some of the Rare games to become available for years. When are we getting the newest Killer Instinct? I don't feel bad for them at all. Buy a Wii U!
There are so many good comments! Some are really making my day go good.
@umegames Yeah, and they'll release Zelda U for PS4 and X1 too, and Sony will be happy with Destiny sales, so they'll release it on Wii U. lol. #notgoinghappen
@ben- @BrownGamer4 First of all Bayonetta is just a clone of Devil May Cry that I didn't really get into. Secondly of course it's mostly shooter nowadays but the online on the other console is just better. Destiny is something I really enjoy and there's Forza 5 and now Forza Horizon 2 that's got no competition in the racing genre. Plenty of sports games in you're into that and there's some RPG coming soon like Dragon Age Inquisition and the Witcher 3 that looks like major games to me. I just wrote my opinion, if it gets to you that much maybe you are a fanboy. Me I go where the games are and sadly they're not on the Wii U. I bought the thing for my wife so she'd play her Mario Kart which is fun but nothing spectacular.
My 3DS though is king in the handheld department so Nintendo got me there. I just wish it would get more Japanese games like the Vita is getting.
It's so refreshing to see a technically third party IP be treated like first party Ninty IP. I hope Platinum keeps up the great Ninty exclusives. Together with Retro, they could easily bring the Rareware touch from the N64 days to the current gen.
The Bayo2 was never going to come out. Sega pulled funds for whatever reason and put the project in limbo. If people want to blame someone...it's Sega.
Nintendo was the only one willing to pay up after the creator shopped around looking for another publisher. If you were a creator and had to choose between seeing your creation die on the vine or only making your game on a system with no fan base for your creation...you pick the lesser of two evils.
Now all I see are pissed off Xbox and PS4 fans calling for boycotts (which makes no sense because you have to OWN a Wii U in order to boycott a game on it...) cheering at the games failure. Which, let's face it, the game is a monetary failure especially when compared to the original.
So while everyone here is cheering at their "victory" the creator says he doesn't even want to make a 3rd Bayonetta. Link below.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/201/08/kamiya_doesnt_think_bayonetta_3_will_ever_happen_but_is_open_to_okami_sequel
So you guys just won...what? Another character for Super Smash Bros?
@AshFoxX It's not a 3rd party anything, Nintendo footed the bill they own it. At least the sequel, lock, stock and barrel.
