Some of you may recall that just recently we reported on a dual wielding Samus amiibo that showed off a rather humorous factory error. Though having arm cannons on both hands would make basic activities a chore for Samus, she sure would be more deadly.
Unsurprisingly, perhaps, the owner who nabbed this unique amiibo has taken to eBay to make a healthy profit; the listing has a nice new picture to show it off.
This little figure looks set to make its owner a lot of money. At the time of writing $900 has been bid with nearly four days of bidding remaining. This is certainly a collectible, but that's a lot of money for a $12.99 amiibo; there'll likely be a surge when the deadline approaches, too.
There's a lesson for all of us — riches await if we can find a quirky and faulty amiibo figure.

People are bidding on this?
Not even remotely surprising, but at the same time plain irritating.
Just so you know amiibo is spelt wrong in the last paragraph @ThomasBW84
@InfernoUprising Thanks for that, sorted now.
Oh well, some people got more to spend on hobbies than I do, I suppose.
I've bought some rather expensive figures in my time, in fact I just recently spent around 100 bucks on a 3.75 inch figure,
but this is on a whole 'nother level.
For all I know, its a fake someone made themself and glued the box together afterwards.
At least the seller can now afford the complete collection once all the Smash fighters have figures.
While it's cool, $1000 is way overboard. As @Tobais95 said, it could be a fake.
Alas, that unfortunate amiibo shall never escape it's cage of gold. Never to experience the warmth of a happy child's embrace. Never to dance among the electrons of it's bretheren. Never to fulfill it's only meaning in life, to grow with it's companions. (And maybe encourage a Metroid game to actually be developed.)
Alas, oh tragedy! For this amiibo shall know only the stench of a neckbeard's heavy breathing (UFFFFFF HUUUUUH), and suffocate in a prison of Doritos and Cheez-its! Woe be unto thee, fair maiden! The fates are too cruel!
I bid you be liberated, so you may be free! Be free, young amiibo!
I'd prefer to buy all of the amiibo than to buy this if I were to have $1000 tbh.
I just find it hilarious that people are willing to pay three times or more the worth of an object based solely on the fact that it's a factory mistake. I mean, really? Especially when some have already started customizing their amiibos to the point where one can easily just make their own two cannon-armed Samus.
I'm a half-collector, you might say. I've been known to shell out for a highly sought item from time to time- most recently I paid $200 for a fellow fan site member to buy the LE Mario Kart 8 from Nintendo World Store and ship it to me. But I don't do it all the time, for example I skipped the Hyrule Warriors LE because $400 on eBay was just TOO MUCH.
I understand though- some people really do have cash to blow, and pride themselves on having rare items and collectibles. I wouldn't dream of spending $1000 for this, but, I'm not going to knock whoever did. If they have the money, and that's what they want to spend it on, well, it's their money so go for it I say.
Personally though, if I was going to spend $1000 on a video game collectible, I think I'd have to go with like 10 different mint condition retro games CIB, perhaps The first six Mega Man games and first 3 Mega Man X games or something... Seems like that would be a little better bang for your buck then a defective Amiibo
Absolutely too much money for this. I'm sure there will be many more defects like this to come.
Inb4 it's hand made by the seller.
I wouldn't even buy the $13 version
Welp, now I gotta look out for Marth AND defects.
Yay.
Reckon it's a fake it's someone has just put a another gun arm on it and carefully just put the box back together
There better be more than 10 cannons on this thing for a thousand!
Not surprising.
It's very rare for manufacturing errors to turn out "good". Usually it's just poor coloring of the figure or something else that is considered negative by most. This is really cool though. I imagine a error going the other way around (two hands) would be very neat, and valuable, as well.
I like how a Link one popped up using the same title and decsription layout as the samus auction. Expect more of these to appear, and more faked ones.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-Factory-Sealed-Defect-Link-Amiibo-Plain-Hylian-Shield-RARE-Look-NR-/281510591773?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item418b56bd1d
Whether the winner pays for the item is another question. Ebay doesn't really have a system that makes sure you actually have the money.
@PlywoodStick buy it and free it then!
That is an obscene amount of money for an extra arm cannon.
@hcfwesker I know for sure the Link factory error is real. I have a friend who works at a game store and he told me he saw, just like your listing, a Link amiibo without the red crest on the shield. It was gone by then, but I don't think he was lying.
I bought a Wii Fit Trainer because according to this same friend's info, it'd be a rarer figure to find at a later date. With amiibos such as Mario, Link or Pikachu always being in supply. So what I'm curious about is how much would "low rank" amiibos, the ones they're supplying the less, are going to be selling for in a few months. I am using my amiibo, so it's out of the box, but I do wonder how high their prices might go with time.
I can see the whole amiibo thing traiwrecking pretty hard.
With Nintendos early statement, that some figures will be discontinued after a while and the exclusives deals in place, hoarders are going on a shopping spree, making it almost impossible to get some of the figures due to ridiculous price inflation.
So, from a collectors point of view, Amiibos cause quite a lot of sadness :/
@ThomasBW84 You just devalued your site be removing the errors.
I hope Nintendo make a LOT of Money form Amiibo - that means a better healthier company and more and better games for us!
@cfgk24 Erm, what?
@ThomasBW84 Ha ha! An 'Error' Samus figure is worth $1000+ - when you make an error - you'r stuff is worth more!
@cfgk24 Ah, right! I thought you were implying I'd done something iffy
@ThomasBW84 Ha ha! Paranoia! Lol! No! You're just fine!
50 bucks from a 1000!
I knew -and I believe I said it on the previous article about this- that this would happen... Still funny though
IT´S FAKE!!!! the shoulder has been moved so it can fit the package, also it has some finger prints arround it, o well, good luck to the bidders.
I would think this is too early, what I would of done was wait until amiibo was not a popular topic and then people would buy it remembering what amiibo is
But good luck to the people that will pay for this, I bet the seller will be swimming in money after this xD
Just had a look at the current bid: $ 1.275!
Not meant seriously, really? You can only wonder...
I'm not surprised
@Hero-of-WiiU - Yes
Hahaha, I imagine the seller is quite surprised. All the best to him, hoping he doesn't run into deadbeat bidders.
haha
@Hero-of-WiiU People bid on a microwaved 3DS
if you got the money and thats what you want go for it.
lets shop till we drop
Let's all go to the store and search for defective Amiibos to hawk on eBay. Seriously some people have no life. However, I will add that the dual cannon Samus would be über cool to have! Bonus points if somebody out there finds it's mate with two hands, unless it's from the same seller. Link without the shield paint is just "meh" though...
EDIT: It's getting really dumb now. Here's a Peach Amiibo with a smidgen of pink paint over the gold lace:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-Factory-Sealed-Defect-Peach-Amiibo-Mispainted-Error-RARE-Mario-Smash-/181598069388?
i don't go on ebay no more but thanks to nintendo life i can see the double arm cannon samus but the thing is is the fact that's its fake. i have an amiibo in my hands still in the box and even the card board is fake in the top right it says 6+ but on my box art it says no. 1 mario not 6+. and in the top left it says super smash bros collection. EVIDENCE=FAKE RED ALERT DO NOT BYE , DO NOT BYE!!!
