Re: Video: Splatoon 3 DLC Wave 1 Is All Style And No Substance

forumposter21

It's all about expectations. Let's say Nintendo decided to NOT call this release a 'Wave.' Instead they called it a 'DLC Bonus for those that purchase Side Order.' Everything else stays the same including content, price, and release date. Guess what? MORE people are happy! "OOooooh! I get Inkopolis FOR FREE while waiting for the real DLC?!?!?!" 10/10!!!! Nintendo has always sucked when it comes to advertising things (New Nintendo 3DS/Wii U). This Wave 1 was confusing upon release, just like the Wii U, especially when you consider that Consumers have already been conditioned by four Waves of MarioKart 8, each with substantial amounts of content.

Re: Splatoon 3's Newest Sub-Weapon Is Called The 'Angle Shooter'

forumposter21

@Yosher Yeah, I can't imagine scissors being used lol, but this IS the game that has bamboo shoots, bathtubs, washing machines, and umbrellas shooting ink so...

Also, I wish they had kept the Japanese naming.
English Localizers: "Hmm, what should we call this Marker looking sub that marks other players? Hmmm.... Ah of course! ANGLE SHOOTER!"

Re: Nintendo Reveals Three More Classic Boards For Mario Party Superstars

forumposter21

I'm interested yet slightly ticked off. I bought Super Mario Party and was disappointed. The maps were weren't great and IMO, getting Coins was waaay to easy. Combine that with the lower Price for Stars and the experience felt watered down.
Here's 6 Coins for landing on a Blue Square, 10 for winning, and another 3 for clapping your teammates' hands! Now you're just 1 Coin away from 2 Stars!
I also believed Nintendo could have supported this game more. No reason we couldn't have gotten a few mini games or maps. I'll be a happy camper if Nintendo supports this game after launch, even if it ends up as paid DLC.

Re: Dataminer Uncovers Support For Switch SDK In Fall Guys Game Files On Steam

It's such a well executed simple concept. Enough depth that anybody can pick up and play, but competitive at the same time. Great visuals and a soundtrack that complements the theme!

My only issue with the game is input lag on jump. I can get used to the high turn radius, but the delay from hitting the button to actually jumping can throw me off. It's not a 'tight control' platformer, but that's probably by design to make the game more reckless!

Re: Feature: Keeping It Physical In A Digital Age

forumposter21

Let's all just be thankful we have CHOICES. What's better for you might not be better for someone else's situation.
I used to buy purely physical copies. I enjoyed having the boxarts and manuals (what are those?). I also like having MY copy, not a right to use a game, as is digital.
Growing up, I realized boxarts are not as creative as they once were, and manuals are no more. I also joined the military, so I change locations alot. Packing and unpacking the boxes got really annoying, really quickly lol. I now buy digital, unless it's a game I know I will love, like Xenoblade DE.

Hopefully, publishers will continue making physical copies, so everyone benefits. If you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT!

Re: $110 Dragon Ball FighterZ Ultimate Edition Now Under $30 In Arc System Works Switch Sale (North America)

forumposter21

I'm tempted, but I think I'll wait for a version with all of Season 3 characters. I've waited this long to play the game, I can wait another year.
I don't even like fighting games in general, but I love me some Dragonball. I love recognizing the references and seeing the detail that the devs put it this game. Many moves, not just the special moves, come from the manga or anime.

Re: Another Crusade Wants To Be Super Mario RPG's Spiritual Successor

forumposter21

Good luck to them! I hope their game is successful!

I grew up with SMRPG, so I'm doubtful on a true spiritual successor. It wasn't the combat or platforming that made it special (though it was a great combination of different game genres), it was the atmosphere. It was the quirky writing and story, the AAA music OST, and the VERY unique worlds we got. The depth between world interactions and hidden cuscenes (for example, going into debt at the Marrymore hotel and working as a bellhop to pay it off). The characters drove the plot. It was a true exploration game.
I'm not sure if that same experience can be recreated.

Re: Get Mario Discounts And New Themes With The Latest My Nintendo Rewards (Europe)

For those on the fence about GBC Mario Tennis;

I'd put hundreds of hours into that game as a kid. To me it has aged well. It has SOOO much attention to detail and love put into it. MUCH more than recent Mario Tennis games.
They quite literally crammed as much data as they could in this game. A huge cast of playable characters, Minigames, and an overworld RPG system that is VERY replayable. MUCH depth to the RPG; and memorable characters. Full of hidden easter eggs and side quests. I honestly think it's a crime how this game doesn't get the accolades it should have, or at least another entry into the RPG series (the GBA Tennis had the last RPG sequel).

Re: Sakurai Understands There Are Too Many Fire Emblem Reps In Smash, Says It's Time To "Move On"

forumposter21

While I appreciate all content and work that developers work on, I want to see more franchises get an opportunity for exposure. Look no further than FE itself. The franchise wasn't doing well in the west until Marth and Roy appeared in Melee. Personally, I would've never bothered with Xenoblade if Shulk had never appeared in Smash4. Same with Bayonetta. Those were amazing games that Im damn sure sold more copies because of Smash.

Re: Nintendo, Sony And Microsoft Will Disclose Loot Box Odds

forumposter21

@Lemmy_the_Koopa I feel the exact same way. It is a positive step, but IMO the Big 3 are just being proactive before they get hit with a REAL regulation or law. By doing it themselves, they can avoid a future problem.

However, I also agree with others that outright banning gatcha/loot box is a little extreme. In the end, it comes down to education. Vote with your wallet. I remember about 10 years ago I played an MMORPG with loot boxes, and I was in High school with no income and no credit card. I really had to make hard decisions on when to save my money or spend it on the game.

In the end and with hindsight, I do not regret the $40ish overall that I spent on the game. I had learned the value of money by then. I understand that it's a completely different era now, with easy access to parents' credit cards, but still, I feel like if little Timmy is spending $$$$ on one game, well, it shouldn't be the government or Nintendo stopping him, it should be the PARENT.

Re: Video: Latest Japanese Sword And Shield Commerical Shows New Pokémon In Action

Ive always felt the Odd numbered Gens (3, 5, and 7) were superior games as far as innovation and ideas. Gen 2 is the exception.

Gen 4 just tweaked 3's features, and Gen 6... I felt like they concentrated all their efforts on 3d models instead of the World.
And now I feel like Gen 8 is heading in the same direction. Theyre so busy to appeal to the 'Graphics' generation of gamers that theyre neglecting what makes Pokemon fun; exploration, adventure.

Re: Review: Yoshi's Crafted World - A Charming Construction Made From Familiar Materials

forumposter21

I never played Wooly World, and only played the earlier installments including Yoshi's Island o SNES.

Demo was a 7/10 but what kept me back was the fact that you can't aim AND move at the same time. This just accentuates the games slow overall speed.

Jumping while aiming and moving laterally (and sometimes holding the jump to flutter) was part of the challenge of earlier games. You HAD to do it to get out of sticky situations. I'm sure the later levels are harder than the Demo in Crafted World, but I can't justify spending full game price if I don't know the difficulty.

Not a day 1, buy if the price is lowered...
