The Japanese television network TV Asahi ran a special broadcast yesterday where 50,000 players around the nation voted for their favorite console (and handheld) video games in a poll.
The votes were there compiled into a "Top 100" list and Nintendo took out the top position - with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Within the top 10, there were also four other Nintendo games. While most of them were for the Switch, Super Mario Bros. 3 was in 10th, and further down the list was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Enough talk though - here it is in full (Games Talk via Gematsu). Tell us what you think of the list in the comments and remember this is technically just a small sample of the nation's favourite video games.

Pokemon Sword and Shield in #14 so high above HeartGold and SoulSilver makes me wanna puke.
Everything else is fair game except Majora’s Mask being so low on the list.
Also BotW… bad Zelda game, great game. 👍
And let me guess, BloodNinja hating on Metroid Dread that at this point is just boring and predictable for the NL community
@fafonio Someone can't handle the truth
I mean... that sure is a list alright.
Lmfao, Metroid Dread isn’t even on the list. Go figure. No surprise at No. 1, but I think it’s pretty amazing to still see something like Tactics Ogre appearing on top 100 lists. Some of these things really stand the test of time!
Good for them, but Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME PS2 Japan is one of my Top 100 games.
Back in the day, I remember reading how Zelda was not super popular in Japan, but big time popular outside....
How times have changed it seems...
(Like, Zelda ahead of Dragon Quest?? WOW!)
This is an interesting list, and parts of it I really agree with. What is interesting is the sheer amount of games here that you can play on the 3ds and some on the Switch.
Surprised to see that Abyss is the highest (only?) rated Tales game. It's the game that got me into the series, so I'm not complaining!
Also, way to go Xenoblade Chronicles 2!
Cool list. I do believe there is some recency bias, but that could be said for a lot of things in life.
I noticed Xenoblade 2 was higher than XB1. That will definitely be argued in the fandom lol!
Decency bias aside, it’s cool seeing Western games like Undertale and Minecraft eating pretty well.
I remember they did this a few years back and Trigger was #1 back then
They had an interview with Miyamoto on the TV show. It was a pretty good show overall. I wasn’t really expecting BOTW to be number one.
@Salnax I was a little surprised not to see games like Fortnite, Overcooked and Human Fall Flat as I think they are all quite popular in Japan… but maybe not as popular as i thought.
Ocarina of Time is too low in this ranking, it should be in the top 3.
I suppose Horizon zero dawn was never released in Japan. At least they have Nier Automata.
Lots of love for Suikoden! The order may be wrong in places, but I agree with the list more than the usual IGN western-centric borefest.
@Rhaoulos No, Horizon came out in Japan. Here is the old Week 1 sales data from march 2017.
https://www.gematsu.com/2017/03/media-create-sales-22717-3517
@B_Lindz @Salnax I was just surprised not to see on this list, but the west is more aware of Japan than Japan is of the west. There is barely any western game on this list.
@Giancarlothomaz yet… it’s not. Final fantasy VII is though! 😜
@fafonio I hear that a lot, but I’d argue that it’s not a bad Zelda game, it’s the new Zelda
@forumposter21 I’m on team xenoblade 2 for now as I haven’t played much of 1, but I feel like there can be no definitive winner
It was nice to see all 4 persona games on this list
I can't believe Undertale is #13. Of all the surprises on this list, that one shocks me the most.
Not counting the Atlus games and Compile's Puyo Puyo series, both which are popular in Japan before Sega's acquisition of them. There's not a single major Sega games (Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog, Bayonetta, Streets of Rage, Billy Hatcher, Astal, Shining Force, Virtua Fighter, Shenmue, NiGHTS, Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon, Yakuza, Super Monkey Ball, Shinobi, etc.) at all in the top 100. This goes to show how unpopular Sega IPs are in Japan and these guys tend to not bring these IPs to the west since they are more appeal to the western audience. Sega should know by now that Japan is Nintendo and Sony's territory, try as they might the Japanese will never accept them or not as much as Sony and Nintendo. They are an American founded company and the Japanese will only see them as an American company just like Microsoft.
I don't get how New Horizons beat out New Leaf, or any other animal crossing. Even with the final update, it still doesn't have the content to match past entries.
@OnlyItsMeReid 2 and 1 are mostly down to preference. If you really like goofy shonen anime tropes, then 2 is the one you want. If you actually want to take the game's plot seriously, and don't want important scenes or character deaths to be ruined by anime jokes, then 1 is better.
Great to see Animal Crossing New Horizons and Splatoon 2 up in the top 5. The dev team behind both games deserve praise and a raise. They have really helped Nintendo stay relevant with the broader gaming community. Perhaps the big N should consider a Splatoon or AC movie….Mario and DK’s appeal isn’t what it used to be. Even Splatoon has more action than jumping on a mushroom 😝.
But awesome to see Xenoblade and Xenogears up in the top 50. Monolithsoft deserves more support from Nintendo if they want to broaden their IP beyond plumping, bananas and a small electric rodent.
Surprised MK8 didn't make the list given how it's selling compared to previous Mario karts. But good list nonetheless
@SuperZeldaFun
Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME Japan PS2 was one of my Top 100 games, the best DDR games on PS2.
Also, other BEMANI games on PS2 (Para Para Paradise, Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, DrumMania, Keyboardmania) are part of my Top 100 games.
@OnlyItsMeReid I love X2 more than X1 but I think if they really update X1’s battle system and other quality of life stuff, the game can definitely be amazing. I hope I get to see an X1 remake one day.
I’m here for the pre Square split Xenogears representation. Seeing Suidoken 1/2 makes me happy. Also glad to see there’s no gratuitous, unimaginative, gun shootem up stuff.
@graviton wait.. what? X1 Definitive Edition is a remake of the game
yeah zelda , dragon quest and final fantasy are huge part of their gaming culture so wasn't a shock , also i think biohazard refers to RE1
calling at least a little novelty bias here
Very surprised to see Street Fighter 2 so low in the list, I remember when it was released on the Super Famicom the queues to buy it were immense.
RPGs for the win clearly! Super Mario World at 97...
@BloodNinja Its not all that shocking honestly. Metroid was never all that popular in japan. Its survived because of the west. the Prime series exist entirely because of this.
not to say it doesn't have a following in japan, its just so much bigger outside it.
Nice to see a list without stuff like GTA in it. I'm obvioulsy in the wrong country!
Undertale at 13 and no place for Mario 64? Yea, ok.
Kinda strange since i have 68 games of this list (yes i did check) but why would even think to add metroid i mean the new one on that list it's not even good
I would rate the game differently with top 100 but hey it's Japan.
@nocdaes and mario64 is so special for what? Nothing. If so nostalgic why not super mario? or even better mario vs donkey kong huh?
Maybe I need to play Dragon Quest V???
A great taste in gaming. You could argue about placings but there are all sorts of factors that maybwell contribute to that. As an overall list it is swell. Roughly scanning all, I'd say I have played around 75%-80% of them in my time gaming.
I only own 21 of those games, and I buy a LOT of video games. Just another reminder that I very much do not have Japanese taste in games.
Yes. Without a doubt Splatoon 2 is the 5th greatest game ever created in over 4 decades of game creation.
Man this list is all over the place! As are all "of all time" lists these days. Too much time has past, too many games, too many different generations, recency bias. They're pretty useless. But still amusing to read.
I wonder if some games are on lots of people's top 3 or top 5 list but rarely number 1 so wouldn't be counted here.
I was a little surprised Galaxy but not Odyssey was on the list since Odyssey sold significantly better in Japan.
@Entrr_username Which truth? That people have really bad taste?
@BloodNinja Persona 5 is dropping lower and lower at each poll. Don't think this one is going to age well. Trying too hard to be hip, flashy and cool but becoming corny with time, like Sonic.
Dragon Quest V still dunking on almost every other game
Proof in the pudding the Japanese love RPGs. Certainly not my top hundred games ever, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 definitely would be. But the rest mostly not, not a shmup or Metroid title in sight. Only Xevious.
No contra or castlevania?
Some of these are incredibly weird. Super Mario Bros. 3 makes the top 10, but Super Mario World just barely makes the top 100? Super Mario Galaxy 2 below Skyward Sword? Kirby Air Ride but no Thousand-Year Door? I know Splatoon was a phenomenon in Japan, and it's definitely a good game, but Splatoon 2 at NUMBER FIVE? Return to Dream Land is the highest-ranked Kirby game on the list, shockingly, but that one is actually my favorite, so no complaints there. Most people seem to think it's inferior to Triple Deluxe and Robobot.
Edit: WAIT, WHERE WAS SUPER MARIO 64? THE JAPANESE PREFER DR. FREAKIN' MARIO OVER SUPER MARIO 64???
I don't see BLAZBLUE, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH, CHAOS CODE, Guilty Gear, The King of Fighters, Garō Densetsu(Fatal Fury), Tekken, Soulcalibur, and Battle Arena Toshinden games on this list. Fighting games on consoles are not popular in Japan, huh?... This list looks really strange to me... Also, I don't see horror games on this list. Where is Forbidden Siren, Danganronpa, Silent Hill, Corpse Party, 999, Zero(Project Zero), and Clock Tower games?
@iaLgan This comment makes me incredibly sad. 😞
Kirby Air Ride! Yesssss Japan!
@iaLgan A list of 100 top games is always going to be subjective, but you are firmly in a minority if you feel Mario 64 does nothing special beyond nostalgia.
Nostalgia does play a part though, for sure. As more and more time goes by, it becomes more and more difficult for these sorts of lists to reveal anything remotely interesting. It was always difficult to compare games from different generations - amongst different age groups who remember them differently too - but now we're at a point where it's almost a pointless exercise comparing them.
Mario Odyssey vs Mario 64 vs Super Mario World vs Super Mario Bros 3 is a good example.
BotW vs WW vs OOT vs LttP is arguably an even better example.
Seeing Xenoblade 2 above 1 saddens me, but is an opinion I respect.
Not seeing X at all is what gets me. Best in the series, but it’s existence seems to be largely ignored.
@WhiteTrashGuy yea was going to say the same thing. I heard DQ5 was good but… dayum. Need to get on that.
Seems like Zelda, Pokemon, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are the big four in Japan.
@VoidofLight It shows that the direction they chose (more building and design, less social) is popular, even though I miss working at the Roost...(and sales are much higher so any comparison might be off anyway)
@bloodninja, it came out barely 2 months ago.. not sure when people voted, but I would be hesitant to vote for a game of which we're still in the first hype cycle when it's an all time list
A list like this should always exclude games of the past 5 years to reduce short time memory bias.
Therefore, pointless list.
@Rhaoulos Horizon Zero Dawn was obviously released in Japan lol. It sold like 400k physical.
@SuperZeldaFun Ace Attorney was never really popular in Japan and Mother 3 didn't sell much.
Whoever voted enough to put The Legend of Zelda at #52 should do themselves a favour and play some later entries in the series. It gets better.
They could have collated votes better - don’t think Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal should be counted separately - but the real indicator of a small sample size is Dragon Quest II finishing above DQ8. Even being above DQVI and VII is a big stretch.
Do enjoy checking out rankings like this, though. Dead By Daylight took me by surprise! Had no idea it was anyone’s favourite game of all time.
No Forza? List is borked.
BOTW is definitely the best zelda game of all time but to call it the best overall game of all time is a bit much, I mean the world can be quite bare most of the time and the story is pretty much non existent.
I mean I just can't take this list seriously, Apex legends at number 30 but no elder scrolls or horizon zero dawn? Apex legends better than those? They should do this list for the West and around 90 of those games won't be in the list
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. Number 2. That was my favourite DQ game and the only one I fully completed. DQ, must be the Japanese biggest Nintendo franchise.
But where is Super Mario N64? This is the one game that should have had a complete remake to keep it relevant to new generations, it does not wear as well as the 2d Mario's. I do have a theory about this, but that's for another thread.
Botw was not an unexpected number one.
@GayusGayer you know what, that's what I was thinking. I googled this....
John Kinsley Nintendo Today. Dec 30th, 2016
Japanese outfit Tsutaya have released the list of the top 20 best selling video games in Japan in 2016, which is dominated by the 3DS and PS4.
The top 3 spots were all 3DS games (including the recently released Pokemon Sun and Moon). In fact, 10 of the 20 best selling games were on the 3DS, while 7 were on the PS4 and 3 on the Vita.
There were no Wii U games on the top 20 list at all.
Here’s the complete list of the top 20 selling games in Japan in 2016:
[3DS] Pokémon Sun
[3DS] Pokémon Moon
[3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3
[PS4] Final Fantasy XV
[3DS] Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi
[3DS] Yo-kai Watch 3: Tempura
[3DS] Yo-kai Sangokushi
[PS4] Dark Souls III
[3DS] Kirby: Planet Robobot
[PSV] Dragon Quest Builders
[PS4] Dragon Quest Heroes II
[3DS] Monster Hunter Stories
[3DS] Monster Hunter Generations
[PS4] Persona 5
[3DS] Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice
[PS4] Tales of Berseria
[PSV] Dragon Quest Heroes II
[PSV] Minecraft
[PS4] Battlefield 1
[PS4] Dragon Quest Builders
I've thought that the Japanese audience has always had some pretty crap taste and this list goes to prove it. Big oof for games like Minecraft, Splatoon 2, Undertale, Pokemon: Sword/Shield and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild all being in the top 20 lol.
@fafonio,
Not sure why tonnes of subjective personal opinions matter all that much to you, you don't think Pokemon Sword and shield should rank so high, be happy that no matter what else everyone else thinks, you are right in your own mind.
There are only 7 Western games on this list: 1 is from a Japanese franchise (Super Donkey Kong aka DKC1), 1 takes place in Japan (Ghosts of Tsushima) and 1 is directly inspired by Japanese games (Undertale).
Most games are on Nintendo or Switch.
Sony are REALLY shooting themselves in the foot if they choose to abandon Japanese market.
@jrt87,
In my opinion Breath of the wild is much better than those games you mentioned, but it's only a personal opinion, just like yours, and all those in the poll in the first place.
And you could also argue nostalgia goggles play a part for older games, as some of them have not aged all that well, of course this is only my own personal subjective opinion.
Animal crossing new horizons in at number four, that's bound to please many on here.
Always subjective but I'm absolutely amazed there's no spots for Mario 64 and Sonic 2.
The lack of Sega in there really surprises me, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes (Treasure, I know), Phantasy Star 4.
We'll all have different top 100s but for me I don't understand how those 5 at least aren't in there.
I can't believe Air Fortress on the NES didn't make the list.
Removed - flaming/arguing
I'm really happy to see Kirby games on that list and Return to Dreamland is definitely the best Kirby game in the series. On US/European lists, Kirby would never be listed. Good to see Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade 1/2, Dragon Quest games, and Zeldas track very high too. Surprised how high Pokemon Diamond/Pearl & Sword/Shield are tracked (but I bet it is due to recency bias).
@BloodNinja
No Metroid game made the list.
I’m actually surprised by this list. Especially number 1. Not surprised by number 2 though. I’ve played about 95% of this list though so maybe it’s not so surprising, I just would have expected younger gamers to start skewing the list towards more recent games. Still, good times.
Breath of the Wild shot up the Amazon JP sales chart because of this.
Not a bad list, considering it's a public poll.
Kirby Superstar is on this list so it checks out. 👍
93. Persona 5 Royale
.
.
.
.
42. Persona 5
HOW COME the more complete version ranked lower?!!!!
@Axecon Kirby Superstar is my favorite in the series but Return to Dreamland I’m sure resonates more with younger players. Looks like the Wii was quite popular. I mean Mario Kart Wii made it on this list lol. Still Return to Dreamland is a fine game although I think my favorite modern Kirby is Planet Robobot. I guess by being first, RtDL benefits from feeling newer although the whole point of the title is returning to what made Kirby famous and enjoyable to it’s fans.
@Arckadius yea me too, I was especially surprised it was higher than Mother 2 which is literally the inspiration for its existence.
Seemed like a great list until I reached the first places. How is it possible for someone that has played more than 1 game in his life to put Pokemon Sw/Sh so high? Splatoon was too high too. The rest seems fine
@fafonio Disagree. The Zelda series has seen many changes and evolutions throughout its existence. LOZ to LOZ 2 was completely different. LTTP was another reinvention. Ocarina of Time then switched things up. It just so happens that the template established by Ocarina of Time was retained for so long. A template you understandably got used to and perceived as the essence of what a Zelda game is. Linear structure and dungeons arent what defines a Zelda game imo. Thats just what youve become comfortable with. Breath of the Wild is a return to the freedom the original was shooting for, but couldnt necessarily pull off as successfully due to hardware constraints. For me, Zeldas essence is in how an ordinary guy of humble beginnings, discovers he has a destiny and works towards it with the support of a diverse, quirky cast whilst navigating fascinating, varied, often dangerous, but always magical environments. NOT linear structure and dungeons. Making Zeldas challenge and hurdles come from the environment as opposed to having a bland environment and finite pockets of interest aka dungeons made things so much more organic and immersive. Zelda needed the shakeup that BOTW brought.
@fafonio X1 Definitive Ed. is less of a remake than upgrading the game to modern graphics so that X1 looks similar to X2. The awkward walking animation and horrible side quests are still part of the game, not to mention the horrible arts selection along the bottom screen. It’s more of a remaster than remake.
Just looking for even one NL article to go by without that one guy in the comments using it as an excuse to act self-important about his extremely unpopular thoughts on Metroid Dread
@BloodNinja
Metroid isn’t popular in Japan and Western developed games aren’t popular in Japan (only 6 games on the list are Western developed). It is not at all surprising that a Western developed Metroid game isn’t on the list.
Nice to see Xenogears on the list. One of my favorites from the PS1 days. Great story that was overlooked because of all the Final Fantasy games coming out during that time frame. Still hoping to see a port one day.
I'm honestly surprised the Monster Hunter games weren't higher up.
@Giancarlothomaz it would actually be my No.1
Interesting list and very weird spots. I like Sword more then most sure but its no way the 14th best game ever, its not even 5th best PM game haha. Also Splatoon 2 5th and AC NH 4th? Both great games but come on really?
I won't argue with No 1 though, its not my no 1 or even in my top 5 but i can see why many would put it top.
@nocdaes No im not Sure it's mario and all but to be in top 100 you have to prove to be there and mario64 is not And if removing nostalgia ***** it it's not a good game. People looking for glitches in gta and all look at the ones that mario has You would be surprised
The lack of Castlevania is disturbing to me
@Zuljaras Kinda but there are games that deserve more love.
Wow, heavy based on Nintendo…
@Beaucine,
Hang on.... who do we trust then, obviously the general public can't be seen to have a valid opinion, and some on here refuse to take the word of professional reviewers.... so back to ourselves I would assume, which begs the question, why even read or comment on the list in the first place.
@johnvboy
I have no idea what debate I just walked in on, but: lists like these are interesting to gauge popular opinion on a wider, even national level, but it's not a curated list with unique, interesting choices and recommendations; it's always going to be a popularity contest with necessarily well-known titles. That's not a complaint, just an observation.
@Nalverus Right. It’s surprising there isn’t even a single Metroid game on the list. Now we know why they barely produce them, at least.
I find it sad that so many people are insulting Japanese gamers because they enjoyed Sword and Shield and wish to rank it high.
I have always gotten the impression that Western and Japanese gamers have different tastes even in series that are popular on both sides of the pond and this list proves it.
Super Mario Bros 3 is much higher then Super Mario World while in the west, I feel that Super Mario World is more popular then 3.
Same goes for Pokemon. Western gamers were the most vocal when it came to bashing Sword and Shield and it still seems to get a mixed reception here.
On the other hand, not only were Japanese gamers not bothered by some issues pre-launch, they must love the game and it's features to rank it so high.
Japanese gamers are entitled to their opinions, and calling them idiots because they loved Sword and Shield is not just insulting, it's wrong.
My point is, don't call Japanese gamers idiots just because their tastes in games differ from western gamers.
Both sides have a right to their opinions and those opinions should be respected.
@westman98 Not just no Metroid games, Metroidvania games in general probably doesn't not cater to the Japanese crowd at all. Not only that anything that had to do with horror are not up there either so games like Castlevania, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Sweet Home, Eternal Darkness, etc., all doesn't make the list.
Don't understand what Dead by Daylight is doing in this list.
@Caryslan I've seen a lot of people make similar comments saying that people have a right to their opinions and that they should be respected. That's true, however, some of those opinions are going to be rude and disrespectful regardless of the situation. For example: when you have an audience of gamers who say that Pokemon: Sword/Shield are good games, even though they are clearly not, that's going to invite criticism. Bad opinions open up the possibilities for negative criticism and that's just life.
This list explains Splatoon 3.
@NinjaGuy69 Come now you don't have a bad opinion. Just a wrong one

@romanista Sadly, it is more popular, so the series is probably changing for the worst.
@Beaucine,
Totally agree with you.
My comment was not aimed at you personally, but there is an issue with some on here trusting the polls when it suits them, or mirrors their own personal feelings.
@VoidofLight,
Only changing for the worst if you do not like the new direction.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Biohazard is Resident Evil. The first RE game is on the list.
@SuperZeldaFun No hate intended, friend. It's just one poll, I doubt it's representative of all of Japan. It's ultimately inconsequential, I don't really care that much. I'm sure if an American poll were conducted it would fit my tastes even less.
@BTB20 Good eyes, definitely forgot all about that.
@johnvboy
Yeah, I think a lot of people misunderstand what these lists mean. They talk about the rankings as if there were this one person who sits down and says: "This game is scientifically better than this other game." When in reality it's an aggregate of thousands of lists and invidual opinions. It's anthropologically interesting and all, and these lists have their place, but they're not meant to be rigorous.
@Beaucine,
Far too many take these lists personally though, as if it somehow undermines their own taste etc.
What a great list. The top 20 is spot on!
>14. Pokemon Sword / Shield
.-.
0. Super Mario Brothers 2 babyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Final fantasy 8? Lies. Splatoon over Splatoon 2? Right.
Xenoblade 1 > Xenoblade 2
Pretty interesting Super Mario RPG appears here but not any of the M&L or Paper Mario's.
I wonder what parts make the original so much more popular with Japan.
Scrolling down, I thought this was the weirdest freaking list. But then Splatoon 2 is fifth. So this list is killer in my book.
Surprising to see Persona 5 so low on the list...but seeing MGS and MGS3 Snake Eater on the list warms my heart.
It would be interesting to see the US take on this list. Hopefully it would not be dominated with Call of Duty and Sports games.
It's a terrible list. Splatoon 2 is on the list for some reason. Two Pokemon games in the top 20? AC:NH isn't one of the best games ever. Dragon Quest 5? Who cares?!
Very awesome list with a lot of older games on it that I'd not expected to see. I'm kinda surprised by the lack of LoZ: ALttP...but the again, it wasn't until after that game that Japan was really into Zelda - if I'm remembering correctly, the series was usually far more popular in the West. Judging by the placement of BotW, it would appear as though that's entirely a thing of the past now.
Nah this list is biased and I love japan and japanese games
Surprised to see BOTW at the very top, it's one of my favourite games and if it was a western list i would totally get it.
But as it's in Japan, i fully expected a big JRPG to take top spot, although the majority of everything else seems to be JRPG games so that makes sense.
I mean... That's practically top 100 RPGs 😂
Advance wars should feature, as should super Mario 64 and Meteoid prime. Also super mario world deserves to be higher.
This list is kinda bull****, Pokemon Platinum is on 99th place, but Diamond/Pearl are 11th...
Japanese people have the highest approximate IQ on the planet, and here we see how it reflects their great taste of video games.
Edit: then again, why is Xevious on the list? It's very dated and wasn't too much fun even back in the day.
Always good to see Earthbound Beginnings represented.
@Meteoroid thing is, I don’t conveniently forget to mention the new stuff, and have on various different occasions. However, the new stuff doesn’t add much for someone who actually enjoys the life sim elements of the game, and doesn’t really enjoy the decoration aspects as much. I do not think New Horizons is better than New Leaf, and I’m sad it sold better, since it means the series is going to head down a direction that’ll alienate half of it’s fanbase.
Nooooooooo! How do they not have Super Mario Oddysey on this list!?!!
@Meteoroid It's alienating the half of the fanbase who likes the life sim elements, whilst only catering to the half that enjoys sandbox customization. New Horizons has tons to offer people who like decorating, but if you like the other animal crossing stuff, it's the most shallow game in the series in terms of life sim content. The holidays are still fairly shallow, missing the actual parts that make them fun, and most of the smaller holidays are just represented with items now, and don't have proper celebrations. Sure they have the roost, but they got rid of the jobs you could do there, and they still don't have anything in the form of actual multiplayer content, aside from showing off your island.
@BloodNinja may I ask what your deal with metroid is? Is your backstory that your parents were attacked by space pirates to, so now you hate everything involving space?
@Slinkoy1 When I was a wee one, Metroid and Metroid II loved each other very much and made Super Metroid, the bestest of Metroids out there. When it comes to Metroid, if it ain’t from Deer Force, then it ain’t worth it. In other news, I’m the only person on the planet that played Dread and hated it. You can shame me for it all you want, but Deer Force has my back.
Holy crap Kirby Air Ride made it on the list?!
I saw this the other day, and I'm surprised that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door isn't on the list, given how popular of a game it is over here. With a high price demand online for the game as well. I'm even more surprised that neither Paper Mario nor any Paper Mario game is on the list. Wow.
But I'm glad a lot of Zelda games, and the Pokemon games, are. Not sure about the order for all of them, but they should be on the list. And Chrono Trigger. Animal Crossing does not surprise me.
