Splatoon 3 can't seem to keep a lid on the pot at the moment in terms of updates and weapons, and today, Nintendo has revealed a brand new sub-weapon for the upcoming ink shooter.
Called the Angle Shooter, the best way we can describe this gun is that it seems to set up tripwires. Aiming the gun at the wall, the ink bounces off of it on a few different surfaces, setting up a few lines of paint in the middle of the air. And if an opponent walks through one of these lines, they're marked and then they take damage.
It looks a little bit like a marker pen, and in Japan, the weapon is even called the Line Marker — which is a perfect pen pun! The Angle shooter joins the Ink Vac, the Triple Inkstrike, a list of Charger weapons, and all the returning weapons!
We're sure we'll be seeing a lot more weapons from Splatoon 3 in the coming months. The game splats down on 9th September. Don't forget you can find out where to pre-order the game below and grab that discount on $50 eShop cards.
What are your thoughts on the Angle Striker? And do you agree with us that it should be called the Line Marker? Paint the town in the comments!

This is probably the most interesting sub weapon we've ever had. A cross between Point Sensor (tracking), Ink Mine (tracking + damage) and Burst Bomb (small damage) whilst also being wholly unique in it's own right with it's wall bouncing effect. I've said this a lot with the specials, but I'll be wanting to try out any weapon with this since oh it looks so fun (the trailer shows the vanilla Splattershot Pro with it so maybe I'll finally learn that weapon? HA! Like I know how to aim...)
Damn you Xenoblade!
If we're just delving into art supplies now, I'd like to request a pair of giant scissors
@FroZtedFlakerZz We've had art supplies since the very first Splatoon. Or did you forget the Inkbrush, the aerospray, and the (Splatoon 2) ballpoint splatling?
@Yosher I did forget the ballpoint splatling :0 all the other stuff is paint-themed at least though, I'm being serious with the scissors, that'd be freaking awesome, or maybe an eraser of some sort?

At that point, I don't think Inklings will need paint guns to splat someone.
@Fizza Splatoon 3: Wasteland.
Rated MA for intense gore and violence.
@FroZtedFlakerZz
Ah, a Paper Mario reference.
@FroZtedFlakerZz Inkbrushes and airbrushes (which the aerospray is based off of) are used for art too!
I dunno how you could logically work scissors into Splatoon, though. An eraser maybe but I don't see scissors working. But hey if someone can prove me wrong, sure. XD
If they wanted to keep up with the fishy puns, they could have called it the "Angler"...
man that looks so cool and so hard to use right lol. i really like how each game tries and mix up familiar concepts (point sensor, ink mine tracking, angle shooter) for a whole new approach. really gives each game its own feel and strategies
Point Sensor seems way better. The duration of this new sub doesn't last long.
This looks awesome, you can use it to find people behind walls and stuff
what Luigi flashlight is doing in Splatoon 3?
@AlexanderDaniels I agree, I think the Point Sensor is easier to use than this. But it would be simple to buff the duration, damage, range, or ink cost on this later if it's performing poorly.
@Giancarlothomaz Splatoon 3 is secretly Luigi's Mansion 4
@Yosher Yeah, I can't imagine scissors being used lol, but this IS the game that has bamboo shoots, bathtubs, washing machines, and umbrellas shooting ink so...
Also, I wish they had kept the Japanese naming.
English Localizers: "Hmm, what should we call this Marker looking sub that marks other players? Hmmm.... Ah of course! ANGLE SHOOTER!"
Removed - inappropriate
@Abes3 Is that what you think markers look like?
Why did they rename it the Angle Shooter! The Japanese name is much better. Its also a pun, since it looks like a marker and it marks the player. Maybe they could have called it the Angle Marker, if they really want to point out the fact that it reflects off walls at an angle
Right so splatoon 3 might be really good, can't wait to see what else will be NEW.im still only level 20 in splatoon 2 after 3 years.
This Angle Shooter looks awesome. Also, I like the creative name.
