Nintendo's hosting a brand new tournament for Splatoon 2 next month, giving talented players the chance to walk away with over $1,000 worth of prizes.
Open only to residents of the United States, the new tournament will be split over four weekends. Each weekend focuses on a particular game mode – Rainmaker, Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Turf War – and the top four teams from each mode's competition will receive a splattering of "off-the-hook" prizes.
Registration for the tournament is open right now over on Battlefy; the first event, Rainmaker, kicks off on 10th July:
- Rainmaker: 7/10/21
- Splat Zones: 7/17/21
- Tower Control: 7/24/21
- Turf War: 7/31/21
You can find all the terms and conditions on the registration page, but to summarise, you'll need to be a US resident aged 13 and up to compete, and you'll need your own Switch, online subscription, and game. Registration ends at 10am PT on the day of each event, and the full prize list can be found below:
- 16 Grand Prize winners will receive gaming chair, trophy, jacket, gaming headset, 10,000 My Nintendo Gold Points, backpack, pin set and lanyard (ARV $1,163.98 US each).
- 16 First Prize winners will receive 7,500 My Nintendo Gold Points, backpack, pin set and lanyard (ARV $140 US each).
- 32 Second Prize winners will receive 5,000 My Nintendo Gold Points, backpack, pin set and lanyard (ARV $115 US each).
- Total prize ARV $24,543.68 US.
Think you'd stand a decent chance here? Do you need to brush up on your Splatoon skills before jumping into the event? Let us know if you'll be signing up in the comments.

I don't think I have what it takes!😁 And I have 1000+ hours in the game.😉 Lol. I can still run into other players that just crush me whatever I do. Fun game, but no thanks on the tournament.
Mainly playing Rocket League these days. Regarding Splatoon 3, my money is ready.
Things like this make me wish I were good at Splatoon.
I'll probably try, see you in last place!
Okay, a weekend for all four ranked mo- TURF WAR?!?!
No clams, eh?
How long till the 'pros' start complaining the prize pot isn't a gajillion pounds. There will probably be a 'we promote your game for free Nintendo we deserve to be rewarded' I'm sure.
What if you wanted to compete in the Splatter Ladder but you didnt have friends to team up with
Good, Clam Blitz must perish.
@Why_Do_I_Exist In the same boat, I play a lot of splatoon but none of my friends do. if u have a team link I'd join
Fantastic game but I don't play it enough anymore to be good at this level. Plus I'm not Stateside.
I enjoyed my 100 hours or so with the game but at this point I'll be waiting for Splat3.
@MetaRunnerPixel Clam Blitz is brutal in solo queue, which is a shame because I think it could me one of the most fun and intense modes with a proper team and communication.
I think there could be better indicators of what’s happening on screen and different D-pad fallouts that could make it a better mode for solo players in Splatoon 3.
@bluemage1989 I wish Splatoon was popular enough to be jaded about its competitive scene.
I'm pretty decent at the game with my ranks always wavering from A to S+. My highest being S+². But I already know I'd be destroyed in a nationwide Tournament. I don't have any friends that play anyway otherwise I'd try for fun. There are just some people out there that are stupid good at splatoon
