Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Will "Average" 30fps On Switch

@Daggot "If the game engine is doing anything like what SoR4 does, it's not a simple title-based pixel engine. SoR4 does a lot with lighting and effects across the various layers. There are several videos that cover how the game is put together. If Ninja Gaiden is build in a similar way, I can see why it takes more CPU muscle to pull off than what it may look like."

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound looks entirely pixel art — the characters don’t cast any shadows or reflections, and even the visual effects are done in pixel art. It's from the studio that made Blasphemous 1 and 2, and those games had better performance.

Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed

So many people butthurt at consumers speaking their minds, this is why people see Nintendo fans as conformist bootlickers. I'm glad that Steam users don't downplay this kinda of practices, and this is why Steam remains as the best platform.

Re: Switch 2 Exclusive Yakuza 0: Director's Cut Gets An Extensive Overview Trailer

@TheExile285 Yakuza 0 was made after Yakuza 5, so the writing of the series had matured a lot at that point.

Yakuza 0 has a great pacing, a good use of plot twists, less tropey writing, it's better at organically connecting subplots and moving the story fordward, Kiryu and Majima have actual character development, It's great at making every character interesting and properly giving them timet to shine(you can easily notice a downgrade in characterization for every returning character in Yakuza 1), and due to it being conceived as a prequel to YK1, a lot of the characters "introduced" in Yakuza 0 have important roles and further development in the next game (Yakuza 1), unlike in other entries where most characters introduced in a entry either die in the same game or just disappear from the story in the next one; the story was made with a clear direction in mind, unlike other games where the writers were just throwing ideas and seeing what stick.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Switch 2 And Switch 1 Prices Have Been Revealed

fenlix

@ButterySmooth30FPS This is a cross-gen title, and it's still going to be more expensive on switch 2. The panic for $80 games made people forgot that $70 for a game was supposed to be an exception for Nintendo games only 2 years ago, but now it's the base price for Nintendo titles. Game freak is definitely going to charge 80 buck for switch 2 exclusive Pokemon games.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Dev Playtonic Is The Latest Studio Hit By Layoffs

fenlix

Kinda expectable considering they haven't released anything since Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair(2019) and their only new project is a remaster of the first Yooka-Laylee. Only 2-3 years passed between the first game and the Impossible Lair, it's really weird that they had spent the last 5-6 years in a remaster.

Re: Metroid Prime Dev's Cancelled 3D Platformer 'Harmony' Streamed Online For More Than Four Hours

@John_Deacon Retro Studio wasn't working in Metroid Prime 4 when it was announced back in 2017, Bandai Namco was rumored to be the one developing the game. The project was a disaster, so it was rebooted and handled to Retro Studios in 2019.

Donkey Kong Coutry Tropical Freeze(2014) was the last game that Retro Studio released, so we don't have details about what they were doing between 2014 and 2019, but it's safe to assume all their other projects ended up cancelled.
