Re: Review: Ring Fit Adventure - Fitness Fun For Everyone

I have an important question: can we change the measures to meters and kilograms? Actually, is Portuguese supported at all? I won't get what's going on if it tells me I just ran 75 measures of a king's cheekbone or whatever measure system it is that you guys use in USA

Re: New Pokémon Sword And Shield Info Drop Coming Tomorrow, 16th October

@Trikeboy I hated Samurott, but I only found it out after he evolved. That put a big sour taste on Black for me. I like that they haven't revealed much and that we're going into the region without meeting every single species and all the post-game, but I will definitely be googling the evolutions before I choose a starter when the games come out if they're aren't revealed earlier. By the way, #GrookeyGang ATM but it all depends on how the three of them end up looking

Re: Game Freak Discusses Pokémon Sword And Shield's Three Starters In More Detail

In the first trailer I was all over Scorbunny but I've liked him less and less ever since (specially if the fire/fighting curse comes true).
I've been leaning Grookey and this videos seem to settle that for me! But I'll really, really only decide after I see the final evolutions, since Oshawott burned me once and I won't that happen again, (apparently this will need to happen in a very careful for spoilers Google after I start the game since it doesn't seem like they'll release them before it comes out)
tl;dr: #GrookeyGang

Re: Gallery: Gorgeous Pokémon Sword And Shield Concept Art Revealed

@Tantani who claimed that and where? I haven't seen a thing about the post-game. And anyway, I wasn't talking about length, I was telling this person who never played a Pokémon game to measure expectations and be ready for what they'll encounter. I love Pokémon but I grew up with it, my views are very biased towards liking it. I kind of always will like a Pokémon game, so I'm trying to be objective for a newcomer.

Re: Gallery: Gorgeous Pokémon Sword And Shield Concept Art Revealed

@jarvismp if you keep in mind it's an easy game, the story is not usually super deep, and that half of it's charm and appeal is within the creatures themselves and are still on board with all that, then yeah, go for it! You could wait a while for the reviews and demo, though (they won't release a demo before the games anymore, not after the last two were hacked and all new Pokémon were spoiled before release)

Re: Camps, Curry and Customisations Come to Pokémon Sword & Shield

dux

The people still complaining haven’t realised those Camp animations and interactions between trainer-Pokémon and Pokémon-Pokémon are rather complex? We had a peek of them in Let’s Go’s Go Park, but it’s a much bigger roster now. Those are the new and complex animations right here, it’s the answer to the whole Dexit debacle. And I’m more than fine with that, I’d rather have vivid creatures camping with me and enjoying my curry, thank you very much.

Re: Brazilian Devs And Nintendo Fans Band Together For Unofficial Nintendo Direct

@AntiHero yes, that's why retailers importing physical Switch copies end up charging up to $30 more than the digital only official Nintendo Shop. But this Brazilian shop has a very limited selection of non-Nintendo distributed games. You can check it by yourself here: https://loja.nintendo.com.br
This Brazilian shop is getting better, but it used to took them months to release DLCs, for instance.

Re: Brazilian Devs And Nintendo Fans Band Together For Unofficial Nintendo Direct

@Papasophagus It's not intelligble, but different to the point that we effectively have to pause to understand some words and sentences, and if a Portuguese is speaking too fast, I can't understand (some people do though, it varies). That's mostly because anything invented after the independence in 1822 received a different translation for each country, so we have different words from everything from "bus" to "cell phone" (for videogames specifically, "screen", "console" and "press button X" are all different, for instance). We also have many words from Africa and native indigenous populations that aren't used in Portugal (for things like "cassava" and "passion fruit").
The weird thing is that in Portugal they've always been exposed to our TV series and soap operas (audiovisual production is much bigger here), so they mostly understand us just fine, and even incorporate some of our words in their vocabulary
BUT, anyway, Zelda for instance has never ever been translated to any form of Portuguese, nor has a mainline series Pokémon game

Re: Brazilian Devs And Nintendo Fans Band Together For Unofficial Nintendo Direct

dux

@JamesJose7 yeah but we're not trying to change "world's problems", it's a petition for a company to sell better (and by that, more) in a specific market. It's not about fixing climate change or getting rid of prejudice or some other unattainable thing against big corporation's wishes. It's actually very much a pro-corporation and money petition, so.... they'll at least listen

Re: Brazilian Devs And Nintendo Fans Band Together For Unofficial Nintendo Direct

dux

They're also making a petition, sign it up if you can colaborate: https://www.change.org/p/queremos-nintendo-no-brasil-e-seus-jogos-em-portugu%C3%AAs-queremosnintendo

I literally changed my Nintendo account to UK so I could buy Dandara, a Brazilian game. We're very badly represented here. The only Nintendo distributed games officially in Brazilian Portuguese are Mario Run and Pokémon Go, and they obviously aren't developed by Nintendo itself, nor are in their platforms. Mario Kart does have European Portuguese, so there's at least that.

Re: We've Re-Translated That Pokémon Sword and Shield Interview Quote

dux

Thanks for re-translating, that is actual journalism, a rare thing nowadays.
From what I can see, these new models are definitely based on the previous ones that have served us well for seven whole years, but that doesn't mean it didn't need an overhaul. Here is a quote from ResetERA:
" Updating your engine so it uses modern physics, modern shaders, better animation based solutions, different kind of lighting etc REQUIRES you to check every single old asset you are importing, thats unavoidable! Maybe the polycount needs to be changed, maybe the rigs are acting funky, maybe the textures dont work well with the new lights, maybe all new materials for every creature need to be made. Its a ton of f***ing work that is oftentimes solved by just remaking the damn thing."

As seen here: https://www.resetera.com/threads/new-pok%C3%A9mon-sword-shield-trailer-gigantamaxing-new-pok%C3%A9mon-version-exclusive-gym-leaders-and-pok%C3%A9mon.127862/page-74#post-22727962

Re: Random: 'Princess' And 'Zelda' Mentioned On US Game Show Years Before The Game

dux

@RazumikhinPG as the article says, Zelda Spellman is one of the aunts of Sabrina the Teenage Witch (played by Miranda Otto in the recent "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" Netflix show), and that comic existed since the 60s. I believe some TV show cartoon specials were already made with Sabrina by the 80s, so "Witch" is actually the best possible word I guess

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th April (North America)

dux

@RandomLeo00 Yeah I just watched it and it's impressive. I was in doubt, but it's a stellar port, there's barely any difference and the framerate holds a pretty steady 30fps just like PS4 did. I won't be getting it now since I'm broke, but it's definitely on my list
