Re: Mario Party Superstars Will Be The First Nintendo Game To Receive Brazilian Portuguese Localisation

@El_Murcielago the samba music is actually pretty decent, specially in the large Festivale float. The float itself is a precise-if-smaller representation of Carnaval float parades in Rio and São Paulo. The dancing, though..... We really need a better samba dancing emote hahaha!
But I was talking about Festa Junina, a Portuguese and Brazilian tradition set around warm food, flag decorations and celebrating settlers/camp life, and also line dancing.

Re: Mario Party Superstars Will Be The First Nintendo Game To Receive Brazilian Portuguese Localisation

dux

@El_Murcielago apparently you are correct! It and Mario Kart 7 were the first to be localized to Portuguese (European). It is still a terribly small number.
On a completely separated note, Animal Crossing really should take a note out of Brazil and Portugal and make a big June Festival event because there is nothing noteworthy happening in the island right now and Festa Junina decorations would look great in that game, they're really missing out.

Re: Mario Party Superstars Will Be The First Nintendo Game To Receive Brazilian Portuguese Localisation

dux

@Lugazz it is not incorrect though. There are small cities in the south where people still only speak a form of German that doesn't even exist in Germany anymore (linguists have actually come here to study that and better understand their language), so it's not just indigenous people. There are also foreigners, immigrants, people who live near borders, etc etc. Our only official language is Portuguese and the majority of the country speaks it, but the minority still exists.

Re: Mario Party Superstars Will Be The First Nintendo Game To Receive Brazilian Portuguese Localisation

dux

@Balta666 No, that is not the complaint. Nintendo doesn't translate anything to European Portuguese either. I believe Mario Kart 8 is the absolute only first-party ever to receive any Portuguese translation, until now. Any other company does Portuguese for every single other game (it is usually the Brazilian because well, we're a bigger number of people and a bigger market than Portugal because of that). Is gets to the point that Bandai Namco releases the Switch exclusive Pac-Man 99 in Portuguese but Tetris 99, which is a Nintendo release, isn't translated. It's honestly mind boggling. Right now the only officially Nintendo translated products in Brazilian Portuguese are the mobile games by DeNA which is almost an offense.

Re: Soapbox: Is The Best Harry Potter Game On Game Boy Color? Quite Possibly

dux

This game did something bewildering to me that I've never seen done before on the GB: IT WAS IN PORTUGUESE! Properly translated too, using the same translation the books did (the translator went above and beyond with the books to translate all the made up names). I was struggling to learn English just so I could play Pokémon and Zelda and I thought games in Portuguese could only be a reality on the PC, for whatever reason. 20 years later and basically all companies translate their games to Portuguese..... EXCEPT Nintendo! Oh well.... (and also now as an adult with lots of trans friends I feel very sad when anything Potter comes around because the author is a bigot but that's another issue)

Re: Rumour: Valve Is Working On A "Switch-Like" Portable Gaming PC

dux

If the price is within a reasonable range, this is basically a day one buy for me. The most boring part of PC gaming is dealing with all the updates and settings and etc. But Nintendo doesn't need to worry, as long as they have Zelda and Pokémon I'll be here (Swith Pro is also a day one buy for me)

Re: Katy Perry's Pokémon Song 'Electric' Drops This Friday

dux

I'm mostly interested in the J Balvin collab to be honest but I'll at least listen to it even though she's not my cup of tea most of the time.
But people here need to chill.... It's an officially licensed song by the Pokémon Company with a huge artist, no this doesn't happen every day. It's fine if you don't like her music or Pokémon, so just move on then, why the hell would you be commenting on news about things you don't care for?

THE BACKGROUND WAS A POKEBALL? I just realized it looking at the Japanese cover, the inverted colours due to the logo being on top in NA stopped me from noticing in my Brazilian version.

Re: Round Up: The New Pokémon Snap Reviews Are In

@rjejr aren't videogames great? Even when something is your job they can still manage to make it fun. My sister for example is an architect and she loves building and decorating the houses in The Sims. A lot of designers manage a lot of stuff in Animal Crossing, and Assassin's Creed even has an education mode now for all the historians out there!
Also, BuzzFeed released a video with professional wildlife photographers (I'm far removed from that) playing New Snap and they seemed to enjoy it a lot, even the least realistic aspects of it, and even while recognizing its limitations.

Re: Round Up: The New Pokémon Snap Reviews Are In

dux

@rjejr I wasn't trying to be too harsh on you, we've all been hit differently by the pandemic and there is no way for you to know how everyone's fields have changed! Things are specially bad here in Brazil, but I've been lucky enough to still manage to find (new) work to do.
But I love Pokémon, I love photography/cinema/video, this game always had a special place in my heart and I'm looking forward to the new one!

Re: Round Up: The New Pokémon Snap Reviews Are In

dux

@rjejr you'd be wrong, I work professionally with audio and video but 1-pandemic still going on and while some jobs have returned a lot are still cancelled, but mostly 2- I can't take photos or videos of Pokémon in real life 🤷‍♂️ looking back now I really do believe original Snap probably influenced me in thinking about framing and the fleeting moment of pictures etc. and I'm super excited for Friday.

Re: One Of The World's Most Famous Footballers Is Coming To Fortnite, And He Can Turn Into A Robot Cat

dux

Oh how blessed are thee non-Brazilians, blissfully unaware of Menino Ney's many, many problematic behaviours, prejudices, tax evasions and ***** declarations.
I'm also jealous of how a lot of straight men can simply not like football overseas. Not liking football is basically the equivalent of coming out in Brazil (and not even then we're safe: there are gay football clubs, none of them official, but still).

Re: Before New Pokémon Snap, There Had Already Been "A Couple Of Attempts" At Rebooting The Series

dux

@MS7000 The new one is Professor Mirror and yes, we've seen screens of the evaluation process already. It's basically the same but you can collect four tiers of Pokémon photos based on your points, from one to four stars, so I guess in theory you could keep a worse photo you liked more Than the high score one (I was a stubborn kid and would often keep the one I liked more, points be damned)

Re: Nintendo Will Attend Brazil’s Independent Game Festival, Latin America's Biggest Games Event

dux

@Pineapple_Mohawk BGS is definitely bigger but it's also Triple A stuff and mostly announcements. This is geared towards indie studio developers and how to develop for their platforms, probably nothing will be announced and it is for works in progress projects I'd think, so it's an entirely different focus. Basically, BGS is the main show stage of a big concert, and this is the backstage of a smaller venue. Different focus but very interesting nonetheless. Any investment in the local games industry is welcome, it's still not a big sector share of our audiovisual market.

Re: New Pokémon Snap Director Explains How They Decided Which Pokémon Would Make The Cut

dux

@link3710 Does Dragon Quest come out annually like Pokémon does? Aren't most of Dragon Quest party members humanoids (I'm not a fan so I could be wrong here)? Game Freak is in a way buying time against their own success, shortening the Dex, making DLC for the yearly launch, outsourcing remakes and creating side series (Let's Go and Legends) just to build a little time between game installments and monster designs, because the Pokémon Company demands them to release SOMETHING each year.

Re: New Pokémon Snap Director Explains How They Decided Which Pokémon Would Make The Cut

dux

@link3710 it might seem textures weren't remade if you're not familiar with any type of 3D modelling and rendering, but trust me, they were. That doesn't mean they've changed massively, but they're simply not the same. A very clear way to see this is when people were complaining after release and someone modded Omanyte from Let's Go in SwSh, it looks off because it's not in the same art style, they'd need to change the texture (and also of course test it in many situations to see if they're consistent through battles, walking, Camp, Dex, etc)

Re: New Pokémon Snap Director Explains How They Decided Which Pokémon Would Make The Cut

dux

@link3710 people that say game freak lied about remaking the models have never ever done any 3D work. A lot had to be redone to work in HD, the most noticeable to untrained eyes being the textures and shading. Probably a lot of fixing and double checking on the models as well. They don't seem to have been "remade from scratch", but the textures alone are already a ton of work, and those HAVE been remade. Let's hope they focus on improving the animations from now on, since that is what's truly lacking

Re: New Pokémon Snap's Latest Trailer Shows Off Six Minutes Of Gameplay Footage

dux

@lovesushi I don't believe it to be endless because the course/scenes are mostly scripted, even though there are different ways you can interact with them and cause a chain of events (there was a level in which you had to push a Magikarp all the way to the end for it to evolve, for instance). But it isn't out yet, so who knows?
