The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is only two days away from release on Nintendo Switch, and as it turns out, the thing appears to be packed with cool little secrets.
Last week, we shared with you a video which explored some of the musical Easter eggs found within the game, including a new rendition of the famous Totaka's Song. The original version of Link's Awakening on Game Boy had all of these little secrets tucked away, too, so it was probably only a matter of time before someone tried to replicate them with the new Switch release.
Today, though, we present to you a brand new secret. The folks over at GameXplain have been doing a little more digging, and thanks to a tip from Twitter user @gameonion1, have stumbled across a new musical delight. This time, the secret can be found by entering the name 'Marin' on the name select screen. You can see - and hear - it all for yourself below.
That's right, it's a brand new version of the Ballad of the Wind Fish - which was incidentally featured in a new story trailer yesterday with full vocals.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is available from 20th September. Are you hoping to grab a copy?

Nice, I never would have thought to try it. I'm always 'Link'. This has a WiiShop vibe to it, as well. I'm excited to play this
@HobbitGamer Someone called it a wind fish remix using the wii shop soundfont, and now I can't unhear it
I had thought for a moment that something like this already existed in the original, but I see that it was when entering your name as "Zelda" and not "Marin". So, yes... This is an entirely new easter egg. I dig it.
but where is the egg?
@Alucard83 at the top of the Mt. Tamaranch
I like how anything that sounds vaguely bossa-nova is now just the Wii Shop Channel.
@HobbitGamer I'm always THIEF in this game
Has anyone tried Iwata?
That's kinda shrill and painful on the ears. X(
@dux Thank you
It’s not out for another 2 days! Let us discover stuff ourselves
@MysticalOS Is the ability to steal stuff still a part of this game? I didn't actually see any mention of that, but I'm okay with trying it for myself anyway.
@nintendork64 You can steal from the shopkeeper. Once. You wouldn’t want to do it again.
@HobbitGamer I remember getting killed in the old game doing this lol
Nowadays when I hear the ballad of the windfish all I can hear for the first few bars is ‘let it go’. Now Unhear that!!
@MysticalOS @HobbitGamer @nintendork64 This is what you get for stealing from me!
ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
Game Over...
perfect ringtone material
I posted about some issues with the game the other day. I've played it more since then and you do get used to the 8-direction analogue control though it's still odd to have to use it rather than tbe d-pad. The huge fps drops seem to be when a new area is being loaded in as you near the edge of your current zone. It's still terrible for it to drop to less than 20fps with some regularity but you can at least predict when it's gonna hit. Haven't tried handheld yet.
It's got that great addictive Zelda feeling, still. A little tip: in the crane shop there's a purple rupee in the crane game that seems to respawn on re-entering the shop until you collect the Yoshi doll and/or heart piece that's in there. You could easily farm a lot of rupees that way...
Very cool find.
