@fenlix It depends. Brazil is the seventh-largest economy in the world, alone responsible for more than 40% of Latin America's economy. But that money isn't distributed equally. So few people are very rich and the vast majority is very poor, or at least doesn't have a lot of money to spend on trivial things like videogames. It's a big market here anyway, but most people can't really buy triple A launch games at full price all the time because that's too much of their salary. Like, I've got two Switch 2 games so far, I'll eventually buy Bananza, but I can't really justify paying that much for a new game now.

Hey guys, this is a retweet, why are the writers of NintendoLife not crediting the creator who originally posted the video? @rodrigocoelhoc is a Brazilian videogames influencer who now lives in Japan and focuses on Nintendo content. Really weird that you're highlighting the retweet instead of the author

Re: Surprise! Nintendo Has Launched Two New Social Media Accounts

@DanskCarvalho I wouldn't define the word in those strong terms, but definitely as a super fan or someone who prefers Nintendo over the competition. But that might be a regional difference. Anyway, it's s Brazilian fan term being regularly used in official capacities, and that is very impressive by itself.

Senpai is finally noticing me cries in brazilian language
It's interesting to note that Doug Bowser used the fan term "Nintendista", something that the (very new) Nintendo official channels and events in Brazil have been doing recently, which is super lovely. It basically means something akin to "Nintendeer" or "Nintendo-head": it's how we call a Nintendo fan over here (PlayStation fans are referred as "Sonysta", for instance).

Thanks for pointing out in the article how much a console costs relative to the money earned in the country, this helps to make people realize how wide is the gap between money value in other countries. I've seen some people spending an absurd amount of money (pre-ordering the same game twice in two places, buying Pokémon double-packs, etc) and complaining around here and other places that those who don't do that are too cheap, yeah, it's not as easy for everyone to buy games as it is for you. It's an important distinction to make.

Re: J Balvin's Pokémon 25 Music Video Features A Breakdancing Hitmontop

I label this under "Brazilian erasure". Come on! Hitmontop doesn't breakdance, he's a capoeira fighter! I can't believe there isn't a single capoeira fighter in whatever Latin neighbourhood they shot this at (...Washington heights? Listen, I barely know all neighbourhoods in my own city)
Anyway, yeah, it's time to canonically rebolar to Pokémon rhymes about Pidgeotto and "defeat enemies", what a time to be alive

Re: Random: Chris Pratt Shares Joke "First Look" At The Super Mario Movie

dux

@Matroska that's not what he meant by it. He said "that's not the voice", as in "that's not the voice I did", meaning he's done it already. He has to, otherwise the movie wouldn't be coming out next year at all, animation takes a lot of time. He won't show the voice he did yet because marketing for the movie will decide the best moment to reveal it (a teaser trailer most likely)

@Anti-Matter probably around the same time French Revolution Kalos had castles and a giant battle: 3000 years ago 😂
Don't worry, we'll soon arrive in the 90s, an era full of teleporting (both pets and humans inside buildings) and digitally creating animals.... Meaning, none of it matters, the Pokémon world is it's own thing. There are Hawaiian and New Yorker animals roaming around Hokkaido brought by a fully international expedition team. It's not tied to the real world

Re: Talking Point: Which Pokémon Legends: Arceus Starter Are You Going To Pick?

dux

Out of the tree, I love Rowlet more, but I've used him in the past two generations already and I think I need to count for variety in my play style. I like the idea of playing with a samurai in this setting but I've never like Oshawott's line design much, and Cyndaquil was one of the starters I used back in Pokémon Crystal so yeah, I think I'll be revisiting this porcupine boy for Legends.
