In the lead-up to the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus early on in 2022, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have been sharing new bits of information to remind Pokémon fans it's still on the way.
The latest update via social media has now detailed what players will receive if they have existing Pokémon game saves on their Nintendo Switch. If you have Pokémon Sword and Shield save data, you'll be given the chance to catch the mythical Shaymin and also claim the Shaymin Kimon Set when the game launches on 28th January next year.
Hey Trainers, have play data from #PokemonSwordShield? If so, you’ll get a chance to catch the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin in #PokemonLegendsArceus! Plus, you’ll be able to claim the Shaymin Kimono Set when the game releases on 1/28!
So, what about anyone with an existing Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Let's Go, Eevee! save? They'll receive special Pikachu and Eevee-themed masks. Here's a look:
More good news Trainers! By having play data from either version of #PokemonLetsGo on your #NintendoSwitch, you’ll be able to claim both a Pikachu Mask and an Eevee Mask in #PokemonLegendsArceus. Wear these cute Pikachu- and Eevee-themed masks while you explore the Hisui region!

This is actually one pokemon game I really can't wait for.
I hope the Shamin isn't just handed to you, and you instead unlock an event or quest for it... but even if it's handed to you, then I'm not too torn up over it.
@VoidofLight It specifically says 'a chance to catch', so it's not a gift Pokemon at least.
@VoidofLight The Japanese site detailed Shaymin as a post-game research quest
thats cute , im glad they add some extra stuff for loyal fans
i hope there's something you get for BDSP save data
@dux Ah, I see. Thanks!
@1ofUs there is, it’s an outfit.
I'm so happy that it gives you a quest to get the shaymin and doesn't just give it to you. Typing in a code or talking to an NPC to get a mythical is so boring
So glad we actually get to find and catch it, speaking to a random guy and getting given a Mew etc is ridiculous
Give the chance? To catch shaymin
Doesn't sound all good
Well, I'll be left out once more as I didn't play SwSh nor Let's Go. I don't care much for clothing but Id like that Shaymin
Pikachu’s face attached to the protagonists head is a choice. Meh.
That eevee mask is so cute!
@Bobb rent it on gamefly or borrow it, get data on your system and bam you've got your legendary. I don't think you need to finish either game or anything like that. Seems like a lot of effort but probably worth it.
@Bobb Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been seriously paying attention to this game until recently, but wanted to reply.
Unless specified, when a game says it requires the game data of another game, it just looks at the save data on the console to see what's there. All you would need to do is boot the game, not even to the title screen in some instances, and then you have save data on the Switch.
If a friend has one of the Pokemon games physically, you'd literally just need to pop it in your system for a minute. If no friends have it, you could ask at stores like Gamestop if you can just verify the cartridge works. There's a few different ways to get the save data without buying the game.
