We'll have to see. Without knowing the accompanying load outs making any kind of meaningful assessment is pointless. Chargers aren't usually my thing but the Splash-o-matic could have potential.
I bought the VB way back when it was on clearance just for Warioland alone. The system and 3 games only cost me $45. Not a great system but a neat collector's item.
Nintendo will almost certainly promote from within. That's the traditional Japanese way and Nintendo is most certainly traditional. Maybe Yamauchi's heir(s) were being groomed in the background all along despite not having a stake in the company anymore.
@MarioPhD There are plenty of exclusives that get a heap of praise which don't necessarily warrant it. IMO Halo is by far the most overrated of them. The game is good but by no means was it ever spectacular but because Halo was so hyped in the media it got some serious undue attention. Ditto Titanfall.
I also think that D3 being an M title isn't the main draw to the game, that would be Itagaki. The original Team Ninja made some very awesome games and people are interested in seeing what they've been doing since leaving Koei Tecmo. Sure TN has made some disasters before (ie. DOA Volleyball) but they've made some awesome albeit flawed games as well (ie. Ninja Gaiden). D3 is just the next offering from an previously established studio which happens to deal in exclusively M rated content. Using the Bayonetta analogy again, people also extended this kind of interest to every game Platinum games puts out be it good (eg. Metal Gear Rising), bad (eg. Legend of Korra), or unknown (eg. Transformers: Devastation). They're willing to gamble based on Platinum's/Itagaki's track record.
@MarioPhD People are interested in Devil's Third more because someone bothered to save it from the scrap heap than about exclusivity. The fact that someone was Nintendo, who have a track record of avoiding M titles, makes it all the more intriguing. The same curiosity was extended to Bayonetta 2 and there are still people panning that.
At this point I'm inclined to believe Nintendo Life has already written their review panning Devil's Third just to support Unseen64. How about we just wait for the game to come out?
One of my biggest draws to LoM was the Streetpass support. Its literally item farming but that's something which keeps the game fresh long after you've finished it the first time. I also appreciate the carry over from previous play-throughs.
Calling Senran Kagura "explicitly sexual in nature" misleads readers into believing its some kind of porn. SK is nothing of the sort. At best you could make an argument for partial nudity when their clothing gets damaged in battle, hence why the game is still only rated T on 3DS. On Vita it goes a little further earning a M rating but still nothing even remotely explicit.
Yeah, I don't buy it. If NOA didn't change their mind over Operation Rainfall then there is no way they'd change their mind over Devil's Third, especially over a weekend. At this point the original rumour could still be true so best to just leave it alone until Nintendo is ready to share more.
@Espy At least Wreck-It-Ralph was a 100% original story. Frozen, like a lot of Disney fantasy fare, is based on an existing children's tale (ie.The Snow Queen).
@YoshiTails Anybody can make a Mii Fighter in SSB. There are even QR codes online with his likeness. I made one to look exactly like his appearance in the SSB reveal (when he was fighting Reggie).
I'm still just glad the game is coming out. Would have been nicer without the drama stirred up by the gaming tabloids. Nintendo, time to bring on that Direct and silence the critics.
I don't know about 'intro' cut scenes but no game will ever top the epic movies from SSB Brawl's Sub-Space Emissary. Try watching them all together on YouTube. Untouchable.
I'm not even sure I'd want to collect this. Outside of games & hardware the only Nintendo stuff I collect is memorabilia & swag. Not really sure where a copy machine fits into those categories.
I personally don't have a problem with a campaign targeting a specific demographic exclusively. My issue is how the media are going to spin this as equality when it clearly isn't nor should it need to be. Being free to cater to a target audience, whoever they may be, is definitely in keeping with freedom of speech.
Meh, I love Nintendo because they make stuff which is different from the competition while still appealing to a wide audience. As far as I'm concerned the only thing holding back WiiU is the release schedule or lack thereof. Nintendo just needs to be able to produce content on a more regular basis and it could support its systems single handed.
@Grumblevolcano Ditto, and that's probably a good thing. My local TRU had +150 Greninjas at launch. Sure they sold out but its a far cry better than EB/Gamestops pathetic half dozen units.
I don't disagree with anything he says, but the most important thing is if the experience is fun. I personally don't enjoy the cinematic movies we call AAA games these days but someone out there sure must because they're the current dominant form. As long as gamers still have access to all types of games though I don't see why they can't co-exist.
I've always believed Nintendo could sell their systems on the strength of 1st party alone, they just needed to ramp up production to be able to provide steady content for eager gamers. Hopefully Nintendo means it when they say they're gearing up for the new launch now both with 2nd/3rd parties and internally.
If LoZ were a game where you designed the main character as your personal avatar the option to choose a gender would be an issue, but it isn't. If that's what you want there are plenty of customizable RPGs out there. LoZ is not that type of game.
@chardir Haven't you noticed that whenever an inkstrike lands it is kind of blotchy around the edges, particularly when the target is not one flat surface? My guess is "more consistent" means more filled in (ie. a more complete circle). So yeah, this is a buff not a nerf.
@Ichiban Have you never played F-Zero games before? They are by far the fastest and most intense racers out there. Because they aren't grounded in reality F-Zero can do some crazy gravity defying tricks & turns not to mention the level of handling skill needed just to be competitive (ie. snaking).
Xenoblade is my top right now but since its not coming until Christmas I'll be waiting on Devil's Third. Whenever Itagaki makes a new game I take notice, hopefully it'll be worth it.

Oh god no. That controller attachment alone would not survive usage.

Re: Latest Splatoon Splatfest Results Are In, Eating And Roller Coasters Emerge Victorious
Nintendo should separate the popularity and win results as separate awards instead of combining them.
Re: Video: Summing Up The Good And Bad Of Devil's Third
@Damo Most bad games only need one article saying why it was bad. "What made Devil's Third so special?" is the real question on everyone's mind.

I've enjoyed plenty of games which were 'critically' panned. The important thing is if you enjoy it or not.
Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Explains Why the Pro Controller Trumps the GamePad in Devil's Third
Just give us the options. Each player can decide for themselves which controller is 'best'.

@SirQuincealot Canada as well I'm afraid. Best sign up for the email.

Re: Tributes and an Outpouring of Respect Are Shared in Honour of Satoru Iwata
@NintyMan Sakurai and Iwata probably had a very close working relationship. SSB as a series is a testament to both these men.
Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passes Away Aged 55
RIP Iwata-san.
Its kind of silly, but I created a Mii Fighter using Iwata's likeness (like in the SSB reveal) so he can continue to smash.

Re: Devil's Third Will Be Released In North America, Just Not By Nintendo
@Jay1984 Does Bayonetta 1&2 count? Despite the comic nature those got pretty bloody & violent.
Re: Devil's Third Will Be Released In North America, Just Not By Nintendo
WTF NOA?! Too many games lining up the release schedule or something? Haven't you learned anything from Operation Rainfall?

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Won't Be As Powerful As PlayStation 4
@JoostinOnline A handheld is what I'm expecting. I'm guessing it'll be Nintendo's first handheld system which features built-in TV support.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Highlighted Nintendo's Development Shift Towards NX, and Away from Wii U
Pessimistic speculation at best. No time to dignify it with rebuttal though, gotta get back to playing Splatoon. =)
Re: Eight SEGA 3D Classics Get Discounts in North America
Getting Space Harrier for sure because it really fits with the 3D effect (Master System style). May get Altered Beast too.

Re: Début Splatfest Postponed in North America
This actually works out better. The scheduled time was Father's Day weekend which means a lot of players would have other more important commitments.
Re: Take More Risks With Your eShop Purchases, Pleads Nintendo's Damon Baker
Yeah, no. I don't just buy games for no reason no matter how cheap it may be. Demo and I'll consider it. This indie push during E3 is a great start.
On a related note, I've been waiting for Runbow for more than a year now, when is this finally coming out?
