Quick fact - In SFII M.Bison was originally the name of the boxer character, a direct caricature of Mike Tyson. The boss names were later rotated in order to avoid potential lawsuit.
If these Amiibo have to be store I'm glad its through TRU. So far from my experience TRU has handled the exclusive situation far better than other retailers. And judging from the stock situation from the last wave there should be plenty of supply for everyone who doesn't wait around forever to purchase them. In my area there are still multiples of Bowser Jr. available for purchase on TRU shelves.
There were a couple restocks of Wave 1-3 Amiibo throughout the summer (at least in Canada). I personally went from having just Samus to a complete up-to-date set. There still wasn't enough but it was a huge improvement over the piddly initial supply. The most recent wave of Amiibos was also pretty plentiful with only ZSSamus in shortage. I think the age of 'unicorns' is over.
@Windy Discs are cheaper than cartridges... to manufacture. That means more profit for the publisher switching from carts to discs. The developers were never interested in passing those savings on to consumers. Purely a business management decision.
This seems pretty logical. You know, target audiences and all. Shovel Knight is trying to be an 8-bit stylized game in a modern era. There's a large portion of PS4 & XBone players who don't even recognize that 8-bit gaming ever existed.
I played the demo with two other randoms at a con earlier in September. Pretty similar to Four Swords IMO. Lots of forced teamwork moments so your mileage will vary depending on the quality of your teammates.
Exclusivity was never the major limiting factor surrounding Amiibo, it was always supply and how those retailers chose to deal with the situation. The most recent run of exclusives have been very plentiful.
@Crimson_Ridley Tom Cruise also helps produce the movies he's in. He gets a bigger take because he takes a bigger risk. VAs don't have remotely that kind of involvement in their projects.
But yeah, if VAs think they can get away with a strike go right ahead. This would be the perfect opportunity for the industry to find some fresh new talent instead of listening to the same handful of actors in every single game.
I just hope this merging actually ramps up production. Rather than consolidating development teams I was hoping Nintendo would create more so new content would constantly be in the works.
I also recommend "The History of Nintendo vol.2 (1980-1991)" by Florent Gorges published by Pix'n Love. The book talks exclusively about G&W going as far as to rate their worldwide rarities.
@ToxieDogg I got my copy in the mail and SK2 is light years ahead of Burst in every possible way. If NL gave SK2 a 6/10 when it gave Burst a 8/10 you know there's some serious inconsistency. NL should definitely have gotten the same reviewer to compare both games.
Nintendo has always been 'global-centric' and should stay that way. Its part of what makes their products so appealing to everyone and not just to western tastes.
This is an awesome weapon! Nothing game changing mind you but having that sensation of firing off a minigun is just too cool. The shorter charge time on the Mini Splatling over the Heavy makes all the difference. Really complimentary subs too.
On average JP players are just better. In Turf Wars, NA players generally prefer head hunting and end up costing us the match because they were camping out somewhere instead of painting. Also, any lag issues I've ever experienced are with other NA players and almost never JPs,
This game had a lot of potential but what really killed it for me was the lackluster controls. I wish Nintendo would just make a new standard platformer like SML3 & Warioland VB.
NA got nothing from CN's demise but it seems like all other regions have been getting treated proper. Hopefully someone out there still has coins/stars to spend.
G&W were by far the best portables pre-Gameboy but I always had a soft spot for the Tiger units because they picked up cooler game titles (and used cheaper AA batteries).
Despite the bias towards the sexual content the remarks about repetitiveness are largely accurate. Personally I love the SK series and even I would never rate it more than 7/10. But there's a kind of spectacle and zen when performing combos which overrides the tedium which you either get or don't. Anyone who's ever played games like Marvel Vs. Capcom can relate to that.
No worries. I'm going to be buying two copies of SK2 to play with my buddy who doesn't buy echi games. Not that he doesn't like them, he's just embarrassed to pay for them. =)
I personally don't care about the Shovel Knight Amiibo but like where this is heading. It'd be so hype if other indies get in on this action (Runbow, I'm looking at you).
@JoseAcosta My research has come up with $15.99 CAD. Plus for the first month gamers that downloaded the demo earlier in the summer get a 15% discount.
I got to try out an early build of Runbow at an indie con in 2014 and was totally captivated by it. Since then I've been patiently waiting for some word, ANY word, of it's release date. The fact that the first word we get is "it'll be out later next week" just has me so stoked. =)
I have no ill feelings towards Shovel Knight in SSB, but I have a hard time believing he was the winner of the voting ballots when there are so many other influential game characters out there. This just seems like a good marketing move as opposed to fan wishes.
@Garet_Jax Oh you know it! I've been waiting forever for Runbow to get a release date and for Nintendo to drop it so close to street date is kind of weird. Hopefully the lack of marketing doesn't hurt the game's sales because Runbow deserves everyone's money. =)
Given the over indulgent previews NL gave DT I pratically expect this game to receive a sub-zero score. I've enjoyed many games which got less than stellar reviews in the past though. Likewise there are plenty of critically acclaimed games which I took extreme grievance with. Gonna have to try it myself and disregard the reviews.
I'd be OK with someone else using Amiiqo for personal use because some of these figs can be ridiculously hard to find or overly expensive. For me though nothing but the real deal will do. As a collector the figure itself is important to me so having virtual Amiibo is a waste of time, not unlike digital only video games.

Re: Xenoblade's Metal Face and Street Fighter's M. Byson Feature in Latest Project X Zone 2 Reveals
M.Byson. Could that typo be any more ironic? =)

Re: Voice Actors Union Authorises Strike Action With Landslide 96.52 Percent Vote
Just when I thought I couldn't care any less about AAA the VAs go and pull this BS.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2015 - Q4 Edition
XCX by leaps and bounds.
And yes, Devil's Third. Funny how it's low critic reviews are only outmatched by it's high user reviews.
Re: Splatoon 'Octoling' Modder Could Cause Save Data Problems
Yikes! If there's even a chance that this might occur I'm going to back up my save files now. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Reminder: Club Nintendo Closes in Europe on 30th September
EU got the best send-off. In NA CN went out with a whimper rather than a bang.

Re: Talking Point: Why Does Investor Confidence in Nintendo Continue to Dip Under Tatsumi Kimishima?
This is just paranoia over change. Once Kimishima actually does something as president we'll see some actual movement.
Re: First Impressions: Taking A Shot At Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water
Nintendo owns Fatal Frame? I did not know that.

Re: Video: This Splatoon Glitch Makes Rainmaker Very One-Sided on Hammerhead Bridge
sigh one more way for people screw around during a match. In private matches that's cool but in random battles that's just being annoying.

There is still a dedicated handheld market for the taking, Sony just can't help themselves when it comes to gouging consumers.

@Greenalink Ditto. And in NA, a little game called Devil's Third. Perhaps you've heard of it.

Science all the way, but Art will almost certainly get the popular vote.
