Nintendo has confirmed that two more weapons will be added to Splatoon tomorrow.
The Carbon Roller and Custom Dual Squelcher are the items in question, and according to the recent leak, these are the sub weapons they'll be shipping with:
- Carbon Roller - Burst Bombs & Inkzooka
- Custom Dual Squelcher - Squid Beakon & Killer Wail
Are you still plugging away at Splatoon? If not, will the promise of new weapons tempt you back?

A Squelcher with the Beakon? That's gonna be cool.
I'll try out the new weapons but they'll need to be something special to pull me away from my Luna Blaster.
Yay, a new roller. Definitely trying that out.
I also need to give the Luna Blaster a chance.
Level 15 coming up...
I absolutely love Splatoon and would love to try these weapons out. But I need to fix my latency issues before I do. Although I was never really a roller person. Might try out the Dual Squelcher though.
Hopefully these things finally bump me up to A+.
I'm a roller guy myself, so I'm excited to try the Carbon Roller. It's gonna be tough to permanently separate me from my dearest Krak-on Splat Roller, though.
@ricklongo
A Japanese announcement has confirmed that the Kraken is getting nerfed slightly - from July 1 onwards, shooting at a Kraken will push it back further, much like how shooting at a Bubbler works.
Ah, this is great, I ordered Splatoon the other day and it MIGHT come tomorrow but either way I'll have even MORE weapons when it arrives! =D
@EarthboundBenjy Good. Now they just need to make the aerospray a bit more thirsty.
God I haven't even had the chance to start playing it yet. I am going to get rolled over (pun intended) when I start multi-player lol.
"Are you still plugging away at Splatoon? If not, will the promise of new weapons tempt you back?"
The thrill is gone. Needs more modes/customization. No matter how many slightly different weapons are released, this game is too thin.
Don't think this stuff should really be referred to as DLC when it's all on the disc. There's been no downloading of content going on as of yet.
I'll be checking out that roller though.
@Peach64 Is it "on disc"? The Wii U does a lot of it's downloading in the background so they could have pushed it through without us doing anything.
@EarthboundBenjy Man, what a bummer.
(Truth be told, it's probably well deserved.)
@Peach64 I'm not sure if it's "on disc", or at least not included in the main e-Shop download. The main Splatoon game has a ridiculously low file size - less than 2 GB, which is less than every single retail game on the platform. I can only imagine it wouldn't be as low if all the extra content was already there.
That roller is going to be a huge threat. Roller+inkzooka?
Man, these just keep coming. I need to play more online to get the money for these. But Yoshi arrived few days ago, I wanna play trough that first.
Those weapons don't look that appealing to my particular play style, but I'll still give them a try.
@Rect_Pola @ricklongo Hackers already knew about these weapons from data-mining the disk version, so it must be on disk.
It's great that they are drip feeding weapons and modes for us. Not only does the game get more exposure in articles like this but it maintains interest amongst the early adopters. The last thing an online shooter needs is a really busy first month and then for the the audience to stop playing.
I go back to splatoon once in a while but the novelty is wearing thin. I will probably fire it up over the weekend though to give the new weapons a try
A Dual Squelcher that comes with Squid Beakons? Welp, looks like I'll be using this weapon more often.
Can't wait.
@ricklongo @Rect_Pola It is actually on disc, otherwise people wouldn't be able to data mine it (right?). Also, I don't really leave my Wii U on sleep mode, and get the weapons and stages as soon as quick-opening the game, so that background download would have to be super fast xD
Besides, the idea of the digital download having this content cut is just weird, mine is digital btw.
I'm not really liking the rollers, but I'll buy it anyway. I'm still rocking the splash-o-matic!
@Tulio517 @crimsontadpoles I don't claim to have a clue how these things works in great detail, so you guys are probably right. It's still very weird to me that the game has such a tiny file size, though.
Awesome, the dual squelcher is my weapon of choice in ranked (alternate being .96 gal). Automatic with range and now beacons should be provide even better defense
Careful, liberal use of the Squid Beakons with the Dual Squelcher could make for a force to be reckoned with in Splat Zones, considering it has the fire power and range to hold down a position nearly single handedly.
@Pinemeowth weapons are unlocked with online rank, so it takes a little while to have them all available. Definitely test out all weapon types to find out what works for you. Also, do single player first. Good warm up for online, plus you get free stuff for finishing it.
Love this game. It's the only thing that pulls me away from ESO every once and awhile.
@ricklongo After Super Mario 3D World, I'm not that surprised. It's just 1.6GB!
Luna Blaster is my fav weapon right now!
These weapons are nice but so far nothing has pulled me away from the .96 gal and the Splattershot Jr.
Pull yourself away from weapons, it keeps things fresh and fun! Just saying.
I have to say every new weapon sounds and looks really nice, but none of those managed to draw me away from my standard Splattershot with Bombs and Bomb Rush.
Either the other weapons have less range or less fire rate or less mobility... and most importantly, I need the Bomb Rush!
@ricklongo You are one of the few people that look so good for you. The file size for most Nintendo games are small because Nintendo doesn't want their developers depending on the Hard Drive to run a game. That is why Wii U originally only had 8 GB of Hard Drive. The code is being pulled and loaded into ram directly from the disc and it is amazing that it is doing it so quickly. For example Xenoblade Chronicles X will give owners the option to install an additional game data file on the Hard Drive to improve the loading times, but you have to remember that they used almost all of the 25 GB of data on the disc so I imagine that loading data to ram in parallel from the Hard Drive and the disc will cut load times in half for XcX. That is a lot of data to pull from the disc for XcX, but Splatoon is played in chunks so the ram isn't packed as full of data.
The Wii U is a feat of engineering and is honestly designed better than the PS4 or Xbox One. Those use brute force, consume a lot of energy, and make a lot of heat. I would be willing to bet that the Wii U will run twice as long as a first line production PS4. The Wii U is designed rather elegantly and in usual Nintendo fashion industry standards need not apply.
@darth2d2
I've TOTALLY noticed that! My Wii U is much colder than my PS3 (not really down for buying the "next-gen" stuff). Fun fact, the Wii U uses less energy than a SNES!
Hellz Yeah I'm ready for a New Roller !!!!! Need to up the Max Level to 40 though
Look forward to the new weapons! Still the best game to pick up and play after a hard day at work!
