Nintendo of Europe is somewhat dragging out the Club Nintendo farewell in Europe and Australia, in the process forcing many to go through many, many surveys to try and get the final goodies. A Nintendo Sound Selection Double CD was pitched as the final physical reward in the territories ahead of the service closing on 30th September, but now another handsome item has been added.
This time around it's a silver-plated 'Goodbye' coin, which costs 2000 Stars in both Europe and 1000 stars in Australia. The blurb and some images are below.
This attractive coin is stamped with the waving Super Mario Bros. plus 'thank you' in Japanese on one side, and the Club Nintendo logo on the other. It even comes in a special velvet, drawstring pouch, perfect for keeping this pretty penny safe!

Do you have enough stars left for this, are you tempted?

longest goodbye ever.
reggie just dropped the mic and peaced out.
Just bought one instead of 3ds backgrounds, but it is totally worth iiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! Thanks Nintendo life
I don't know about this...it's a cheap piece of plastic that's going to collect dust here.
I have 2050 stars..I might try to find 1000 stars on eBay to get one of the soundtracks for 3000.
This is it!! Exactly what I was waiting for and this coin is wonderful, instant purchase, and with 5150 stars to spare!
Do I get an MK7 trophy now, or wait and see if there are any more surprises in store?
It's beautiful. Too bad it won't be coming to the US.
I'm only 300 stars short been a member since the beginning aswell!
That will be the last, everything lse they said that would be on is on.
The latest MK trophies are made differently to the older ones. Much lighter.
I was kinda hoping they'd drop the prices of the soundtracks, as i can just afford the goodbye coin, but i really wanted the ALBW soundtrack, and i already have a few Club Nintendo things like the 18 card Game case, a Yoshi plush and the Kirby Triple Deluxe Soundtrack CD though Ebay is looking like a better option.
@FinnTheWhovian @RupeeClock @Doggedfrog What kind of standards do you guys have?! This thing isn't beautiful! It's a cheap piece of plastic!
@RupeeClock I'm in the exact same position!! I was waiting for the coin and snapped it up immediately, but now I'm not sure how to spend the rest of my 5000 or so coins! I think I might wait it out and see if they have a sale like NA did.
@RupeeClock I would wait, it doesn"t look like these things are going to sell out any time soon.
Looking at my account, I have seen thousands of my Stars expire during the life of Club Nintendo Europe. That was because, at that time, there was simply nothing worth getting. Any decent physical goods were snapped up within minutes by the lucky few (I myself managed to snag the Hanafuda cards), leaving worthless digital wallpapers etc for everybody else.
However, if I remember correctly, at that time the North American Club Nintendo had far better gifts than Europe!
Well, this is it. The Goodbye Coin. Wasn't expecting it to be 2000 stars though, was hoping to buy a soundtrack CD with this. Oh well, the coin takes priority.
I don't think anything else will be added so I'ma go get this!
Expensive! Hoped i only needed one more code to get it but now i am 1200 points short. Well i will have to skip this and pick up Alleyway for the 3DS.
@manu0 It actually looks quite nice, it'll go with my Year of Luigi coin.

@Thecoolmana777
A sale seems doubtful, it's new stock I'm wondering might happen.
@manu0 - The description says the coin is "silver plated" but I can't see any mention of plastic as a base. Have you seen it listed as plastic anywhere else? I'm interested because my wife is considering picking one up with her remaining stars. Thanks.
The Mario 25th coin was 150 stars. Absolute bargain. The RPG coins were free. Shame this wasn't cheap.
They never said the cd was the last item. You just read it wrong!
I only have 950 stars!
I suppose this will be collectable, wasn't exactly what I was expecting but it's what I've been waiting for! Still I would've liked o have gotten the soundtrack too but I don't have enough!
@ChristopherM This is a plastic coin if I've ever seen one. I highly doubt there's any actual silver on it. I also highly doubt that the pouch is made of real velvet. It's probably just a synthetic fibre.
@ChristopherM In the German description it says the coin is silver colored, no word of it being silver-plated.
Yeah I waited for this, instant buy!!!
@NintendoLee
I didn't even know that this coin existed! Would've been nice to snag one, but that's obviously long past.
@manu0 - Thanks, that's interesting about the German description.
Club Nintendo's UK description (not fully repeated in the article above) says "Please note: the coin is silver-plated only". If anybody received one without any actual silver on it, then I'd say they would be entitled to a refund.
Of course, a refund would be pretty worthless if the stars were no longer valid by then.
Okay, I had 4500 stars left. Got 2 coins (one for me, one for my brother), and spent the last 500 on the Hanafuda 3ds theme. I'd have loved to get the Kirby blanket too, but just not enough stars!
@manu0 I have five coins from club Nintendo, all are plated not plastic. I assume this will be the same.
@NintendoLee What do you mean? They are made of metal and have actual silver or gold on them?
To anybody thinking of picking up a cheap game in order to get 250 extra Stars - my £6 copy of Arkham Origins from Amazon UK did NOT include a PIN voucher, despite the game being listed on the Club Nintendo site. Presumably that copy of the game had been packaged after the scheme had closed(?) Caveat Emptor.
Well, that's that. Spent my last stars on 2 Goodbye Coin.
Shame that I now I have 700 stars and nothing to get with them...
Nintendo UK are obviously going to disagree with me, but I personally feel that all Club Nintendo members should be sent this Goodbye Coin for free as some kind gratitude for the loyal custom that people have shown to Club Nintendo.
@DreamyViridi You could get a home theme.
Wish I had that in NA... hmm.
@ChristopherM I did the same, there's also a lot that expired in March on that list too.
@manu0 They're metal and I'm pretty sure they're gold plated. I've had them for a few years so can't remember what descriptions said originally and checking out they're pretty heavy.
Might get two and sell the extra as I can't afford anything else I want if I buy one.
And next week, they will put up more blankets and CDs and figures.
@RainbowGazelle - Already have the ones I wanted. Can't really afford anything else that I could use.
This bites. I have 1000 stars exactly so I can get it, but the site won't load when I go to the stars catalog. Doubt it'll be there when I can get through.
D:
I...I want!
I have enough but the stars catalogue won't load
And, let's check back with NOA's Club Nintendo! Oh... right.
THANKS REGGIE.
Too bad it's so expensive. I spent 7500 stars on that Game & Watch Ball reproduction, and now I'm left with 900. Guess we'll get a DSiWare or 3DS VC game then.
But I had a great time with Club Nintendo. Even though I'm really sad I'll miss out on this one, at least I still have my Giratina Origin Form bookmark, my Red Pikmin plushie, my Golden Wii Wheel, my DS Lite Value Pack (even though I lost the stylus), my ?-block with (sadly now broken) sound, and of course my Game & Watch Ball unit.
Thank you for all of that Club Nintendo
@wolvesboy I also have enough stars but i also xan not get on to the catalogue as it won't load up
@wolvesboy Try now its just loaded up for me
Not enough stars, have 950. Guess I'll just check what I can get with those stars.
1400 stars left, so if I was in Australia I could get it.
Well at least I got that recent CD instead.
I'll hold out till closing time for any price drops and if not, probably grab me a digital game.
@manu0 If it is the same as the Year of the Luigi coin it is a metal coin with gold plated paint on it. So I would expect this to be the same but with silver plated paint.
I got one of the coins, and have 6400 stars left... Might get that Skull Kid lamp.
@Grumblevolcano not much for 950, you could treat yourself to a panoramic flight with birds or visit the carnival and try not to look at costumes on zoom too much . The choices!!
NA got nothing from CN's demise but it seems like all other regions have been getting treated proper. Hopefully someone out there still has coins/stars to spend.
If I'd known it was this cheap I'd have waited, damn you Nintendo!
@manu0
You can't register codes anymore!
@ledreppe Of course you can. You can register codes until the last day of Club Nintendo.
@manu0 No you can't.
I have more than enough stars, however I do not have the 107,150 or 107,250 stars I require for everything I desire (not including the download codes).
Club nintendo will live on in the hearts and memories forever. and Nintendo VIP which I wish registered for years ago!
@AyeHaley I've registered a DSi XL just a couple of days ago lol
@AyeHaley Just look in the FAQ, it clearly says you can register codes until 30.09.
I think there was some confusion with the end date for redeeming codes. Downloaded games were specified to not offer any points after a certain date earlier in the year, and I think there was miscommunication by certain gaming sites that suggested the codes were locked out on that date too. But yeah, as others have said the last day to enter codes is the day CN goes dark.
(Managed to get my coin. Wooooo.)
Still holding out to see what else comes up later in the month. Realised I've still got about 7000 left...so I hope there's still some expensive stuff remaining at the end.
@Baker1000 What is it you really want, out of interest?
@Alundra-1998 That`s a good idea and it would be really cool.
This coin does evoke melancholy.
@ChristopherM @manu0 It's not made of plastic. Definitely made out of metal, the coating is also made out of silver (it's just a thin coating of silver, that's not expensive at all). The pouch is also velvet.
@Octane That's good to hear, ordering it now
I would buy nearly everything if I was rich in stars!
got my coin and the goodbye cd Thanks Nintendo!
Got the coin and the soundtrack I have 16k stars left no idea what to spend them on, I was hoping for something really expensive and rare to go up as a surprise.
@KMX85 Care to order the MK8 sound track and the Goodbye sound track and sell them?
I couldn't get any of these. Not really fair as I have bought so many of their games. However, I do have the green Zelda 3DS carry case, from a few months ago.
@manu0 i might consider it seeing as there is nothing else that I really want, was thinking about just getting 8 coins and sell them on but I think they will be pretty common a lot of people will have 2k stars remaining.
I had exactly 2000 left, so I got one.At least it won't take up as much room as an Amiibo.
@ULTRA-64 I ended up getting a 3DS theme, 100 Nintendo Points and NSLU ringtones.
Well I do have enough for the soundtrack now after this coin so should I wait or get it now?
@DoctorOverbuild id get it now incase it go's out of stock if you want it.
-
Ordered mine erlyer was going to comment but was busy on ESO lol.
Got my coin and the endings cd so i'm quite happy. Still got 3000 stars left and a ton of surveys to fill out, if i can be bothered I might get captain toad lamp
@Grumblevolcano good shopping! I don't have a 3ds so themes are no good to me....
I've got 1650 so I'm in no man's land for the coin, I'll trade in Lego Jurassic park and grab resident evil over the next few days second hand so ill wait and see if the code is in the box. Still only another 250 though so no coin for me by the looks of things!! =(
Finally, this is what I have been waiting for. I am so glad that I had enough stars left to get it. I am also glad that I didn't miss out on it like I did on the Year of Luigi coin. Farewell Club Nintendo, thanks for all the awesome merchandise over the years!
Yet another thing to show how much Nintendo hates NA.
Oh snap that is nice. I hate feeding scalpers but I'll be getting this off of ebay.
EDIT: YEOUCH 80 bucks on ebay?! That's cold. Was hoping for 50.
I'm so kicking myself , I spent 3000 stars on the Mario kart 8 Soundtrack about 2 weeks ago. I knew I should have waited to see if they would do something like this. I've got no more stars left now. Guess I'm off to ebay.
If I had any stars left, then I would have bought it.
The line up of items for club members is appalling!
Yes I was wondering what to do with my last 1500 stars!!
@Lord Are you complaining about the UK lineup?
NA's ended months ago and it sucked. They had a game case and a Puzzle. And they put all the games they ever offered on there up. That;s pretty much it. You have no idea how lucky you are.
@Rect_Pola @dumedum @MailOrderNinja @BattleEnder @dariusq Well you guys got the awesome Zelda messenger bag and other retail games and some cool stuff, but I still wish that next reward program should be mutual for all territories.
redeemed it yesterday just 30mins. after its availability still has 60 stars left, probably will buy 2 ringtones. I will finish with 0 stars left, #THUGLIFE
@GRex28 True enough, but it just seems NOE gets all the really cool stuff AND it's easier to preorder and buy amiibo.
Sold out in Australia at least a few hours ago. I hope everyone who really wanted it got one.
I linked my Club Nintendo account to my Nintendo Network ID last night, bringing me the Stars needed to get this and some random digital tat! I think I've got two items through this before now; the Zelda Collection on GameCube (in 2003!) and the Super Mario 3D World soundtrack in March.
I feel like I've gotten decent value out of Club Nintendo after more than a decade of vigilant registration, but I won't miss that bloody survey.
The Goodbye Coin is my last every Club Nintendo purchase. I have only 100 stars left. I have the Mario 25th Coin, the Year of Luigi Coin and the RPG coins too so I'm very happy.
@ChristopherM In the past people have had success with customer support here provided they have proof of purchase. Given how Club Nintendo is closing the might have change their mind here. Still a quick e-mail is all it takes.
My stars all expired earlier this year.
I never found a fitting scheme for having my merchandise delivered.
Living in Denmark made it difficult.
The amount of attention that Europe's Club Nintendo in contrast to North America is shameful. I hope they do a better job of equalizing prizes in whatever the next system is.
@James1993 The Golden Sun complete soundtrack, recorded by an orchestra...
More realistically, maybe some exclusive New 3DS cover plates or a soundtrack to a game you can't get otherwise, I don't know. It's more the fear of something unbelievably cool coming up and me having spent my stars on something just because I could.
This is a late reply. My coin has been sold, I should have ordered it straight away! at least I save 2000 stars.
