Can’t help but laugh at all the revenge fantasy like comments rolling in - if you can’t afford an extra £20 a month for a game then you have bigger problems in your life you should really be focusing on. Get a grip.
Jeff Minter has made a few good games and he seems like a cool guy but UK gaming journalists across the board seem to really like overhyping him and, even as a Brit myself, I just don’t get it.
I’m honestly only really interested in more traditional formula remakes like BDSP and some spin offs so this is cool for people who want it but it’s not for me.
Let’s be real for a moment, if Nintendo thought even a fraction of the people claiming they would be buy these games would actually follow through on that then it would be an option but they know the voices of a vocal minority don’t translate to sales that are worth the effort.
I actually like the game, I play it a lot, but this isn’t the big deal the writer is claiming it to be.
I thought the first Oxemfree was novel when I played it around launch on Switch but neither of their games since have done anything for me, Oxenfree II was boring and Afterparty is cringe af, so it’s hard to feel this is some great loss - you have to do more than be average if you want to have any longevity in this industry.
@Ogbert from what I understand Annapurna Interactive were yet to release a game and had been working on something Blade Runner related - all of the other notable releases over the years were handled by independent development teams with Annapurna simply acting as a financier and publisher. While they Interactive team have all indeed left, leaving the Blade Runner project in limbo, the individuals who handled the publishing side of the business remain and continue their own separate work.
@Yodalovesu absolutely but Annapurna Interactive were an internal development team and not at all responsible for any of Annapurna’s published games - all of which were developed by independent teams.
@Ogbert Annapurna, the company who has published a whole bunch of good games over the years, remains unaffected - the staff who walked out where from a separate internal team who had yet to release a game.
I’m not going to let the moaning, especially over something as trivial as the credits, ruin what is one of my most anticipated games of the last twelve months - really looking forward to it.
I played this on PlayStation Plus and made it about half way through before I figured I had played enough - this game had a lot of media praise but I feel like many players were pretty bored by the same point and that the slow pacing didn’t help.
He seems like a cool enough guy and I’m sure he put a lot of work into Animal Well but the game was dull and, like this game, came across as a bit pretentious. I’m not suggesting I could do better but there are smaller developers doing a lot better games that are more deserving of a Game of the Year nomination.
@DripDropCop146 didn’t know how rubbish a read it was until I had finished - I wouldn’t normally comment but this felt like a whole new low. I’m no news reporting snob but turning a random comment on a week old social media post is pretty basic but if that’s your thing I can’t hold it against you.
If she is that worried about her future or children being fed then perhaps she should retrain and take up a new career? Many other industries have had their workforces do so as a result of evolution within their respective industries and I don’t see why this would be the exception?
I don’t mind taking inspiration but this is such a blatant rip off that it leaves me feeling dirty just looking at it - at least other similar projects made the effort of putting their own stamp on things.
Just wanted to come here and mark this occasion with a heartfelt farewell to a pair of unforgettable Nintendo systems that left us with a lot of great games and memories.
The critic reviews for the game itself aren't particularly great but the music seems to have been well liked so probably better to just give this a listen and skip the game.
@Qwiff I don't know either but I have met plenty of people, online and irl, that have said the game is an overhyped and disappointing slog so I don't think it's a particularly wild take but there you go.
@PessitheMystic I meant from what most people would think about the games I scored 10/10 in general but I do agree that yes, out of maybe hundreds of games scored over the years, these three are not in line with other users of this site might think but I stand by the fact that Shining Pearl was one of the best Pokemon games I have played, the Persona games were some of the worst I have played and Disco Elysium was a pretentious slog that was overhyped by gaming journalists looking for something to point at in the games are art debate.
@Diowine I think the majority of the games I have scored (which I haven't done in a long time for the most part) are in line with what most people would think. To me Metroid Prime is a 10, as are Mario Odyssey and Wind Waker and I would put Shining Pearl up there as well while I would put the Persona games as a 1 because they are simply some of the worst games I have played on Switch alongside Disco Elysium.
@MegaMari0 I don't doubt some people like it but I have met plenty of people, offline and online, who have found it to be a massively over-hyped let down. A few witty lines and some edgy subject matter doesn't make it a ground breaking narrative and the game itself is mostly a slog to play through.

Still makes a lot more sense than a lot of the ‘leakers’ and vague posters.

They set these ridiculous prices knowing full well sites like this will put up articles and promote their listing free of charge.
