This weekend I am treating myself with Castlevania Symphony of the Night on its original hardware! (FINALLY!) That's right! "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets!" and all that!
On the side I will be blasting in Serious Sam: The First Encounter and some Diablo-like gaming in Heroes of Ruin!
@Mesozoic_Masquerade Can you tell me how companies can restrict my license on the N64, NES, SNES, PS1, PS2 cartridges and discs? They go into your house at night and take them away so you can't play them?
Same goes for a PS4/5 or a Switch that is not online and you have a full game on the cartridge or installation discs.
If it does not require a server connection, HOW can they take away the game from your physical library that is self-sufficient to play without any external requirements?
@Ooccoo_Jr The big negative for me is that I do not own the game I bought unlike the releases that are full on the cart. I prefer ownership of that little chip and what is on it. In this case there is nothing on it. It is a plastic DRM key and nothing more.
Same with the DRM key-discs.
@NinChocolate So this is my point. It benefits only Nintendo and the publisher, it is not for the user. Just useless plastic that you can pass on to other people
I simply want the physical media to contain the basic release version of the software I bought. Nothing more, nothing less.
@Ooccoo_Jr This is done ONLY for the benefit of the publishers. ALL the costs are passed on to the users.
Requires Internet connection
Requires disc space
And for what? So the publishers can say they have their game on the shelf and have clueless people buy it while they save money.
Ohhh but you can resell and trade the empty cartridge, so everything is ok
Shelf space is the big reason to do this without investing in manufacturing a large cartridge. So clueless moms and dads buy this crap for their kids or as gifts, as we know they do not browse the eShop for that stuff
Key-card is the worst of both worlds, all the "inconvenience" of the physical and all of the "requirements" of the digital.
Nope. I can't say goodbye to one of the best generations in gaming. Also, the Switch 2 BC might not be as good as they market it.
And the Switch 1 is so compatible that space is not an issue with this little gem.
Ah and the Switch 2 still does not have many games that interest me. The only one that stands out is Cyberpunk 2077 as I am not a HUGE fan of Mario Kart.
This weekend I will have some tries at Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and Castlevania Legacy of Darkness! This year I have beat many Castlevania games for the first time so training to be better in more is my goal
On the side I have Quake 1 and Cyber Shadow
Happy gaming everyone!!!
PS: I do not think that the Switch 2 will surpass the greatness of the Switch 1. But that is just my opinion
@Michael0916 Well this was always a chance when units are shipped. And what will be leaked exactly? Mario Kart? The game that plays the same as the other Mario Kart games? I doubt it.
If a person is afraid of spoilers for their games, they can simply turn off the internet until the launch day. Problem solved
@ScottyG Actually most physical gaming accounts on social media were informing about it before the release with early copies.
This is the first DooM game to do that because of the early access route Bethesda decided to take.
After all, why would people PAY for early access when there is a chance of people playing it early if they get physical copies leaked? And that is the reason they decided to make it a key-disc ... pathetic.
This weekend will be as casual as possible and the games I chose are Batman Arkham Origins, Wolfenstein The Old Blood, DooM 64 and Super Castlevania IV!
This weekend I will play on a small nostalgia note called World of Warcraft. I will level just a little in Season of Discovery after not playing for over a year!
If you PAY for a physical edition, it should contain a playable build of the game on the physical media.
If the publishers are so afraid of losses just put a bigger price tag on the REAL physical game and print less quantity and the digital only version could be less expensive.
Key-carts are a waste, the core customers do not care that much about resell ability.
This weekend I will start a new playthrough of DooM Eternal on the Switch. Also, such a shame that the disc of DooM The Dark Ages does not contain the game, and you need internet to install it and play it. Despicable
I will continue my save in Singularity on the 360 and play some GTA V as I have never touched the story like at all This will be interesting.
Scarlet and Violet are the only Pokemon games I refuse to buy.
And this is not because of the bugs and the terrible low quality of development. The problem I have is that those games are completely soulless compared to ALL of the other Pokemon games.
Now it is proven that even a turd with the Pokemon logo will sell well and people will eat it.
@Bunkerneath To be fair there is a version with both Assassin's Creed 3 and Liberation both on the Switch cartridge, so there is at least the option to choose.

Another key-card trash

Re: Capcom Is Recording Switch 2 Game-Key Card Purchases As "Digital Sales"
@Suketoudara This is not a good argument for physical and digital media.
In the same matter I can say that playing game roms on emulators on my Steam Deck is the same game from the eShop and it plays the same.

This move is done out of pure marketing greed.
And people wonder why software piracy exists

Re: US Retailers Are Playing With Fire With More Switch 2 Cancellations
Sometimes it is good to be a late adopter I did the same with my Switch 1.
But I guess that Mario Kart is like an illegal substance to some people
Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2
@Anachronism sure. Let's agree to disagree
Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2
But did it fix the emptiness of the soulless world?
The many buildings that are just cubes with non-functioning doors?
Re: Switch 2's Album Will Finally Let You Filter Screenshots And Videos By User
@Aventurier ? I did not understand this at all.
Re: Switch 2's Album Will Finally Let You Filter Screenshots And Videos By User
That is interesting but I can't find any use for me, as I use only 1 account.
What I want is the ability to delete more than 100 screenshots at a time!

@DonierGunad Nice! The game reminds me of a combination between Shatterhand and Ninja Gaiden!

@JPEGMakima I actually hope we find out. This will be very interesting.
But in my opinion, it will have the same fate as Snow White.
Re: Rumour: Zelda Live-Action Movie Eyes "Popular" Princess Pick
@NintendoByNature I genuinely hope that's not the case as well

PS: Thanks for the shoutout. The video is down now

It is good to know that you can setup the system without internet and create a local profile!

Re: A Video Showing The Switch 2's Boot Screens Has Been Shared Online
I hope that Switch 2 games could be played without the day 1 patch but that is yet to be confirmed.
For now, only Switch 1 games are confirmed that need the patch.

Re: Feature: Limited Run Talks Switch 2 Game-Key Cards, Huge Carts & Difficult Pitches
As long as a game that I want is fully on the cart I will buy it. Simple.

Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line
Publishers who do not commit to true physical releases should be punished.
They will look better if they just skip physical and just release digital only than releasing a plastic DRM key.
We know they are doing it just for the shelf space and nothing more.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th May)

Ready your wallets as the next mainline Pokemon game might be even worse!

Re: Limited Run's Switch 2 Numbered Releases Will Reportedly Include The "Full Game On The Cartridge"
LRG will be one of the last bastions for physical games on the Switch 2.
I have not had any bad experiences from LRG. I even got free games sent to me as a mistake Yeah that is bad but free games are still free games
I do not care for longer wait times as the games need manufacturing after the pre-order window has ended.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th May)
@Tasuki enjoy HoMM3 again this game will never die!

Re: Another Switch 2 "Code-In-Box" Physical Release Appears Online
@Chimichanga Because most people are consumers that do not care about ownership.
And because of that publishers and platform holders are pushing towards digital so they could control the market and its pricing.
Also digital only allows for unfinished crap products to hit the market and reap revenue WHILE the devs fix the issue post-launch.
The CONSUMER does not care about those things because they have something to consume.
Re: Another Switch 2 "Code-In-Box" Physical Release Appears Online
Is the Switch 1 copy playable from the cart?
Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Is Now The Second-Best Selling Game In The Series

Re: Xbox Branded Handheld Photos Leak, And It's Not Quite As Slick As The Switch 2
Even if it is more powerful, I doubt that it will beat the Steam Deck in terms of tinkering.
Also, mouse control or it will be just for Xbox games on PC OS?
Not interested at all.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Tells Studios "Do Not Underestimate The Physical Edition"
@Bizzyb I really hope that the publishers that cheap out are punished where it hurts the most ... their pockets!
Only then, the idiotic practices for saving money at the expense of the users, END!
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Tells Studios "Do Not Underestimate The Physical Edition"
@Chlocean They did the same with the release of the Witcher 3 on the Switch 1 as well
And they are behind the DRM free pc games hop GOG.
I hope they make an online physical preservation shop like LRG in the future
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Tells Studios "Do Not Underestimate The Physical Edition"
I think we already see that the key-cart statistics in the stores miss the "bestseller" tag that the physical editions have.
I HOPE that EVERY key-cart release actually LOSES money, so it sends a message to the big players.
Come on Elden Ring be a normal release!!!
Re: Elden Ring On Switch 2 Will Introduce Two Brand New Character Classes
I still have hope that Bandai Namco will release it on a normal cart and not a key-cart.
Re: Former Assassin's Creed Lead Isn't Happy About Switch 2's Game-Key Cards

Re: 'Wild Hearts S' Switch 2 Release Detailed By Koei Tecmo
@fpcreator2000 Sad, well again I saved money
Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance
I think this was confirmed as a key-cart in one retailer.
Let's face it, an underperformed game will not be given a proper physical release.
Also, hello???? This is Ubisoft. They are cheap and they can't afford to take any risks now.
Re: 'Wild Hearts S' Switch 2 Release Detailed By Koei Tecmo
Is this a key-cart release in the west?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd May)
@Tasuki It is amazing and the team behind it announced a third faction in the future update - Bulwark. Dwarves, mountain trolls and runes
Absolute peak to an undying game!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd May)
More Elden Ring for me. It is harder to play a Faith character than a Quality one, at least for me!
I cleared Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula. Now I am in Liurnia of the Lakes and hunting for dungeons
On the side I have Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Horn of the Abyss on the Steam Deck and Octopath Traveler on the Switch
Happy gaming everyone!!!
Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?
No, publishers do not deserve money for physical releases that do not contain a playable build of their game.
Re: Nightdive Studios' CEO Says That Game-Key Cards On Switch 2 Is "Disheartening"
@Oldstalk and that is ok because key-cart is not a physical release. It is a plastic DRM key.
If there is no playable build on the physical media it is worthless for a physical collection gamers.
Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release
LRG is only distributing this, they are not making it.
Still they do it for the money and good relationship with the publisher.
Not a good look!
Re: Elden Ring Has Now Shipped Over 30 Million Copies Ahead Of Switch 2 Launch
