So, the official support page is false information?
I have read some of the comments that people buy from scalpers and most of them are "Well I make so much money that I don't care as long as I get it." That was during the early days of the PS5 launch.
@WheresWaveRace Well if you change your console, SD card or you have to reset your console to default settings, then you need to authenticate the game again and if the servers are down or the access is cut off you can't do that.
Where with the normal physical releases all you need is to not lose or break your cartridge/disc.
I prefer to own things and not rely on servers for MY products, so I am skipping key-carts and I will look for ALTERNATIVE ways to play those games on the Switch 2.
If the publishers cheap out on their releases I will cheap out on their games
It is ok. We have SO MUCH physical games from the previous generations (and we will have some from this one) that could simply last for couple of lifetimes
I got my first copy of Castlevania Dominus Collection!
In the past 3 days I 100% Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow ... again, and now I am moving to Portrait of Ruin! My goal (like every time) is to get 100% map, 100% item drops and all weapons + spells
On the side I have the glorious Elden Ring and continuation of the journey of my Crusader in Diablo 3!
Happy gaming weekend everyone!!!
PS: When I made the sculpture of the warrior jar from Elden Ring, I thought how cool it would be to put a Switch cartridge of Elden Ring inside. But with those key-carts this seems ... painful
@electrolite77 Yes. And I have sent an email to Nintendo to ask if this verification has to be done every time you reset you console or change your SD card without deleting the download.
@electrolite77 That is true. But it needs a server verification as well. The download will not cut it. This is information right from the Nintendo site page.
@Olliemar28 Is there a way to NOT include Elden Ring yet as it is NOT confirmed by either the publisher or Play-Asia that it will be a key-cart release?
Here is the email from play-asia that I got:
And this is from Bandai Namco:
"Thanks so much for reaching out to us! I totally understand your concerns about the current rumors surrounding Elden Ring on the Switch 2. We know how important it is for players to get accurate information, especially when it comes to major releases like this. 😊
At the moment, we can’t confirm the details about the physical edition, such as whether it will be a full cartridge or a key-cart. We recommend keeping an eye on the official Bandai Namco page for updates as we get closer to the release date:"
I get it if it was confirmed but it is still not. It very well may be key-cart but until it is official let's not spread more misinformation.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th April)
@cosmograph thank you! Once I bought Blasphemous 2 and played with Veredicto I knew I had to make it!
Amazing game!!!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th April)
This weekend I will play some Blasphemous 2 on the Switch.
I also started a new character in Elden Ring. This time I will try to play with a Faith build
And lastly, for some nostalgia, Shadowgate Classic on the Gameboy Color
Happy gaming everyone!!!

Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Won't Make It Easy For Physical Collectors In Japan
@Jaquan yet I can still find and get those removed GOG versions
I guess this is the digital future. At least it will cost less
Re: eBay Is Already Flooded With Switch 2 Pre-Orders At Ridiculous Prices
And many of those will be bought.
I have read some of the comments that people buy from scalpers and most of them are "Well I make so much money that I don't care as long as I get it." That was during the early days of the PS5 launch.
Yep, pathetic
Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Won't Make It Easy For Physical Collectors In Japan
@Jaquan But on PC I have access to GOG and I can back up my installers of the games on a physical media like external HDD, SSD or a flash drive.
So, I backup my games and I do not rely on servers that way. Can't do that with the digital copies on consoles because they require authentications.

Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Won't Make It Easy For Physical Collectors In Japan
@Toastmaster Because people will argue that now you can resell them.
Which is odd as the digital only crowd do not need this as they prefer digital and they do not resell their games anyway.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release
@dartmonkey
You forgot to mention that it requires internet connection the first time you START the game as well. It is not only for download.
Which means that it needs another authentication from Nintendo Servers. It is odd because you just downloaded the data.
Probably the key card it not even paired to the data it just downloaded.
Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2
I use my Steam Deck for niche PC games that you can't play on any other console.
Most people use it for emulation and tinkering.
I do not see it as a direct competitor to the Switch 2.
Re: Nintendo's Quiet 2024 Led To 26% Drop In Physical Game Sales (UK)
It is ok. We have SO MUCH physical games from the previous generations (and we will have some from this one) that could simply last for couple of lifetimes
Re: Oblivion Remaster May Be Launching This Month, But Will It Come To Switch 2?
Skyrim was amazing and it was a damn good port on the Switch 1. Also, its physical edition included ALL of the DLCs.
I would expect the same from Oblivion Remake, but I do not have any faith in Microsoft or Bethesda on that matter.
Re: Watch: Got Questions About Switch 2? Ask Alex - Live!
I do not know if you can even check this but still, is the Switch 2 OS the same way as Switch 1 in terms of stock software.
You do not need Nintendo Account to start it?
There is no online setup to start using it like on Xbox One and Xbox Series?
You can turn it on and just make an offline account?
Re: Japanese Retailer Is Asking The Public How To Combat Switch 2 Scalpers
The best way to combat scalpers is to not buy from them.
Let them have the units and stay with them at a huge loss.
Sometimes a person have to wait a little for the greater cause

Re: DOOM + DOOM II Is Getting A New Limited Run Collector's Edition For $666
I guess people do not like memes because that 666 edition is a meme.
I am getting the regular edition for sure!
With that said if this was a Castlevania edition those 666 would definitely leave my bank account
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Olmectron no it is only once per console or reseting a console or a new download after the game has been deleted.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Olmectron confirmed

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Olmectron Yes. If the cartridge is the KEY-to the license when you download the game, why do we need a server handshake to verify it even further?
Not ok
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Olmectron actually that information is from their FAQ page on their website.
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68415/~/nintendo-switch%26nbsp%3B2-game-key-card-overview
"Step 3: Play the game.
Once the game is downloaded, you’re ready to play!
An internet connection is only required when you launch the game for the first time."
I emailed them about resetting your Switch or copy pasting the download to another SD card.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Olmectron and you need to start up the game WITH internet connection one time after that.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@electrolite77 Yes. And I have sent an email to Nintendo to ask if this verification has to be done every time you reset you console or change your SD card without deleting the download.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Judal27 No it is one time check when you first start the game. After that it can be played offline.
But that check have to be done again if you switch your SD card or you reset your Switch 2.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Judal27 the server check is only the first time you start the game after the download.
But I assume that it will be required on system factory reset or when changing an SD card if you copy the old one to the new one.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Stwert I am not tired of repeating that, but Elden Ring is NOT confirmed to be a key-cart.
Both Bandai Namco and Play-Asia emailed me that it is NOT confirmed as the game is still in porting development!
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Judal27 And the game needs to be started with internet connection as well the first time after the download. It is not only the download.
And I assume that when you move data between SD cards or reset your Switch 2 you need to start the downloaded game with internet connection as well.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@HammerGalladeBro And you have to be connected to the internet the FIRST time you start the game WITH the key-cart inside.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@electrolite77 That is true. But it needs a server verification as well. The download will not cut it. This is information right from the Nintendo site page.
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
@Olliemar28 Ofc you are not going to do that After all someone took their time to make the thumbnail, and we can't let that work go to waste right?
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

Re: Random: Of Course Nintendo Fans Are Already Camping Out For The Switch 2
Re: The Switch 2 Scalpers Are Already Out In Force
I do not get the rush like there was the Armageddon date announced and the sooner we get the Switch 2 the more we are going to play before the end
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
@X68000 I am not allowed to link it but on their site it reads V-2 Compatible with the Switch 2.
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
@X68000 So they mean that it is compatible with the Switch 2 not with Switch 2 games
I guess it is a matter of time
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
@X68000 I am an offline gamer.
On the site it states that it is(will be) compatible with the Switch 2 cartridges.
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
For such releases I will vote with my wallet.
I also found out about something called MIG Switch cart so I might invest in that as well.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th April)
@Tasuki I really LOVE Diablo 2 but there is something in 3 that is so captivating.
It is over the top in the super human arc but I like it. What they did with Diablo 4, however I just can't forgive
Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?
I am waiting on news about Elden Ring. The rest does not matter right now
Re: Elden Ring's Switch 2 Physical Version Seemingly Tarnished By 'Game-Key Card' Release
@Alcea It is not a launch game. It does not have a date set. Still in development.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th April)
This weekend I will play some Diablo 3. Started a new Crusader currently at level 46.
I will play one my childhood memories Bram Stoker's Dracula for the Mega Drive! Awesome soundtrack btw!!!
And for relaxing some Ninja Turtles games from the Cowabunga collection
Happy gaming everyone!!!
Re: Elden Ring's Switch 2 Physical Version Seemingly Tarnished By 'Game-Key Card' Release
It very well may be a key-cart release but until then we have to be optimistic!
Re: Elden Ring's Switch 2 Physical Version Seemingly Tarnished By 'Game-Key Card' Release
@Maxz @Krull
I am doing it because I really care too much for the physical release of Elden Ring on the Switch 2.
Re: Elden Ring's Switch 2 Physical Version Seemingly Tarnished By 'Game-Key Card' Release
No, it is NOT. Stop spreading misinformation! I asked Play-Asia via email, and they told me that it is a placeholder.
It is not confirmed. I asked Bandai Namco and they responded that it is still in development and the distribution is still not final.
Is it so hard to check for yourself and not just copy and paste from some posts. I even posted on many of those.
And you even mentioned Kotaku ... and they just saw some posts about Play-Asia and repeated the same thing and painted it as a fact.
It might be a key-cart in the future but for now it is NOT KNOWN!
Gaming journalism is dead.
Re: The Switch 2 Will Emulate Switch Games, Because It Shares No Internal Hardware With Its Predecessor
@RupeeClock I will be honest even the current one on those lists is impressive. So, the stock one on launch day might be even better!
Re: The Switch 2 Will Emulate Switch Games, Because It Shares No Internal Hardware With Its Predecessor
@RupeeClock I get that. I was hoping for explanation on how it is done as it is emulation.
Does the stock firmware start with this, or you have to download that feature etc.
Re: The Switch 2 Will Emulate Switch Games, Because It Shares No Internal Hardware With Its Predecessor
If the stock OS gives me at least 60% of my Switch 1 games, I am happy.
I do not want that Xbox One, you have to download the backwards compatible game if you want to play it even if you own the cartridge.
Re: Nintendo's Switch 2 'Game-Key Cards' Somehow Manage To Make Codes-In-A-Box Worse
As I read it, this is only for certain releases. Primarily for the Switch 1 Enhanced edition on the Switch 2.
