@Michael0916 Well this was always a chance when units are shipped. And what will be leaked exactly? Mario Kart? The game that plays the same as the other Mario Kart games? I doubt it.

If a person is afraid of spoilers for their games, they can simply turn off the internet until the launch day. Problem solved

I hope that Switch 2 games could be played without the day 1 patch but that is yet to be confirmed.

For now, only Switch 1 games are confirmed that need the patch.

@ScottyG Actually most physical gaming accounts on social media were informing about it before the release with early copies.

This is the first DooM game to do that because of the early access route Bethesda decided to take.

After all, why would people PAY for early access when there is a chance of people playing it early if they get physical copies leaked? And that is the reason they decided to make it a key-disc ... pathetic.

As long as a game that I want is fully on the cart I will buy it. Simple.

This weekend will be as casual as possible and the games I chose are Batman Arkham Origins, Wolfenstein The Old Blood, DooM 64 and Super Castlevania IV!

Publishers who do not commit to true physical releases should be punished.

They will look better if they just skip physical and just release digital only than releasing a plastic DRM key.

We know they are doing it just for the shelf space and nothing more.

This weekend I will play on a small nostalgia note called World of Warcraft. I will level just a little in Season of Discovery after not playing for over a year!

If you PAY for a physical edition, it should contain a playable build of the game on the physical media.

If the publishers are so afraid of losses just put a bigger price tag on the REAL physical game and print less quantity and the digital only version could be less expensive.

Key-carts are a waste, the core customers do not care that much about resell ability.

LRG will be one of the last bastions for physical games on the Switch 2.

I have not had any bad experiences from LRG. I even got free games sent to me as a mistake Yeah that is bad but free games are still free games

I do not care for longer wait times as the games need manufacturing after the pre-order window has ended.

This weekend I will start a new playthrough of DooM Eternal on the Switch.
Also, such a shame that the disc of DooM The Dark Ages does not contain the game, and you need internet to install it and play it. Despicable

I will continue my save in Singularity on the 360 and play some GTA V as I have never touched the story like at all This will be interesting.

And because of that publishers and platform holders are pushing towards digital so they could control the market and its pricing.

Also digital only allows for unfinished crap products to hit the market and reap revenue WHILE the devs fix the issue post-launch.

The CONSUMER does not care about those things because they have something to consume.

Scarlet and Violet are the only Pokemon games I refuse to buy.

I think we already see that the key-cart statistics in the stores miss the "bestseller" tag that the physical editions have.

I HOPE that EVERY key-cart release actually LOSES money, so it sends a message to the big players.

More Elden Ring for me. It is harder to play a Faith character than a Quality one, at least for me!

I cleared Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula. Now I am in Liurnia of the Lakes and hunting for dungeons

On the side I have Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Horn of the Abyss on the Steam Deck and Octopath Traveler on the Switch

No, publishers do not deserve money for physical releases that do not contain a playable build of their game.

@Oldstalk and that is ok because key-cart is not a physical release. It is a plastic DRM key.

If there is no playable build on the physical media it is worthless for a physical collection gamers.

LRG is only distributing this, they are not making it.

Still they do it for the money and good relationship with the publisher.

I have read some of the comments that people buy from scalpers and most of them are "Well I make so much money that I don't care as long as I get it." That was during the early days of the PS5 launch.

@Jaquan But on PC I have access to GOG and I can back up my installers of the games on a physical media like external HDD, SSD or a flash drive.

So, I backup my games and I do not rely on servers that way. Can't do that with the digital copies on consoles because they require authentications.

@WheresWaveRace Well if you change your console, SD card or you have to reset your console to default settings, then you need to authenticate the game again and if the servers are down or the access is cut off you can't do that.

Where with the normal physical releases all you need is to not lose or break your cartridge/disc.

Which is odd as the digital only crowd do not need this as they prefer digital and they do not resell their games anyway.

I prefer to own things and not rely on servers for MY products, so I am skipping key-carts and I will look for ALTERNATIVE ways to play those games on the Switch 2.

You forgot to mention that it requires internet connection the first time you START the game as well. It is not only for download.

Which means that it needs another authentication from Nintendo Servers. It is odd because you just downloaded the data.

Probably the key card it not even paired to the data it just downloaded.

I use my Steam Deck for niche PC games that you can't play on any other console.

Most people use it for emulation and tinkering.

I do not see it as a direct competitor to the Switch 2.

It is ok. We have SO MUCH physical games from the previous generations (and we will have some from this one) that could simply last for couple of lifetimes

Skyrim was amazing and it was a damn good port on the Switch 1. Also, its physical edition included ALL of the DLCs.

I would expect the same from Oblivion Remake, but I do not have any faith in Microsoft or Bethesda on that matter.
