Super Smash Bros. for Wii U saw the debut of the explosively popular amiibo line, and after several waves, nearly every fighter was given a figure. Nearly is the operative word there, as some of the newest DLC characters still have yet to receive an amiibo figure, but we do know that they're on the way. Now, a new CPSIA listing may have just outed that more amiibo are coming soon.
Eagle eyed users over at Reddit spotted a new listing that went live on 18th January, but there was another filed on the same day that is only just now showing up. Both of them have product serial numbers that are following on from the established line of existing Smash amiibo, so it's assumed that these will be for the new DLC characters. Considering that Nintendo is effectively abandoning the Wii U after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it begs the question: will these be for a Switch port of Super Smash Bros.? Only time will tell, but it seems like a pretty safe bet.
What do you think? Will the Switch get a port of Super Smash Bros.? What do you think might get added in a Switch port? Drop us a comment in the section below.

HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!
I bet by the years end, Smash Bros. Switch will come out! Nintendo is just holding it back, as to not blow the system's momentum right out of the gate.
Switch port here we come!
That game is only 3 years old. Practically new by Switch game standards.
And still no Corrin, Bayonetta or Cloud amiibo announcement...
NEW PORK CITY WITH
8-PLAYER SMASH
So which new characters would you like to see in the smash port?
Give me Shantae and Sora.
Gimme melia and fiora, also shantae but xenoblade is a top priority
I'm really hoping this means a Smash 4 Switch port. My roommates are wanting Smash 4 more by the day, and I'm trying to prevent them from buying a Wii U so I can get them to help buy it for the Switch when it comes out.
I still need Mega Man and Peach. Still, no stock issues in Australia so they're not going anywhere.
...Remember when Smash amiibos were easy to get?
@ProudGrimleal Erm, I think you meant to say "Fourside," right?
I'd say that if there are going to be more characters/amiibos for Smash then Splatoons Inklings are probably the safest bet. Since Nintendo are pushing Splatoon as their new big IP and the characters have been added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe it's fairly likely they'd put them in Smash too.
If there is a port, I hope they re-issue the Smash amiibo. I think a few are still quite rare.
On the whole though, it seems most are fairly common now.
@Not_Soos Why not have BOTH Earthbound locations? The Earthbound series is THAT big, right?
New Pork City IS the perfect stage for 8-player smash.
Wouldn't be a surprise. I'll peg it for 2018...seems like quite a bit of first party this year already.
During the latest episode of IGN's "Nintendo Voice Chat" podcast, host Jose Otero mentions that there are now 7 Fire Emblem amiibo. Was he just mistaken or did he accidentally reveal something?
Of course we're gonna get Smash on Switch. Do you think they're going to port Mario Kart and not Smash Brothers? Smash is one of their biggest console IPs, if not the biggest. It's coming, of that there is no doubt.
@rjejr Well, looks like we'll all have our Corrin and Cloud and Bayonetta amiibo soon enough. Except for you. I believe I saw a fine print stipulation excluding the state of New York
@Logantxk
Half Life 3 Confirmed
Lol... Strange seeing you here on the site. Welcome to hell 😳
hoping for a new smash with 3 amiibo due last year for half price for dragging their buttholes, if its ported better contain both wii u and 3ds versions and new sub emissary for only $60 or better have 1.5 char and stages, better hear something near e3 for them, usual treatment keeps things worse for overdue stuff. seams they are busy with all kinds recent amiibos announcements, but the one they pretended to start on last year, one of the reasons why i'm waiting on a deal b4 getting switch, or a nice limited zelda switch ed gaming system i'm not getting burned again. ps still have quite the backlog of games, i do have some patience left but it looks like Nintendo enjoys making us wait for the smash switch announcement for those 3 which is not cool, and let me guess store exclusives again! but i'm guessing smash bros this year or next, or i'll forgot buying them.
not too happy about game a gets 10 amiibo game b gets 2 amiibo game c gets none (pub forgot paywall) and does not produce the ones we want. (zelda was delayed for amiibos and released on switch no question.) and yes wolf link gamestop sold separately next month at usa.
Couldn't these updates just be fore the final trio?
@Shunk1 No.
Marth, Ike, Robin, Lucina, Roy, and the two Echoes characters.
At this point it's criminal not to include the Inklings in Smash. I mean, they're in Mario Kart, for crying out loud.
@mdfezasmbroxeno Zelda didn't get delayed a year and a half to include amiibo support. Where did you get that idea?
@Shunk1 There are currently 5 from Smash Bros. and 2 new ones due when Fire Emblem Echoes is released in May on 3DS.
Edit: I see someone else already answered. Not as awake as I thought I was.
Just gimme the damn amiibos already!
@thesilverbrick Yeah, to be fair they have to include them.
Meanwhile the Ice Climbers just sit there in a corner.
Okay we all know the Inklings are gonna be the new Character, however I have a feel there will be at least 2 more Characters? Not sure who the candidates could be. I dont feel any veterans will come back. Im just still hoping for Skull Kid as a fighter.
If SSB4 gets ported to the Switch, two must haves imo are Ice Climbers and Inkling as playable fighters and since the port will most likely be based on the WiiU one, the inclusion of some 3DS stages such as Magicant or Spirit Train. Not too interested in Smash Run, though.
I think it would be awesome, if Nintendo did the whole "vote for 3 new characters in smash" again. Plus some extra characters thrown here and there.
@GoldenGamer88 what about the Arms characters?
@RadioHedgeFund Those would definitely be a great fit, too, though I'd rather have IC and the Inkling.
Yeah, I definitely see a Smash port to Switch. I'm not sure if there will be new characters, but I still like to have Rayman on there for a third party character. Shantae would be pretty cool too. Maybe the return of Ice Climbers if Nintendo isn't gonna update the 3DS version. Guess we will see what happens.
@Logantxk Oh man I LOL'ed hahaha
More SCamiibo?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Such a happy soul you are.
If smash port does happen (and I'm hoping it will), I can totally see them adding a couple more characters and costumes like MK8. Would love a Wild Link option.
A new character coming?
Forgive me while I open my wallet, Nintendo.
What's that? Ice Climbers? Isaac? Sora?
I can't hear you over the sound of my money hitting the screen
Must be time for Corrin to finally come! It works nicely too as there's more Fire Emblem amiibo coming in May in the form of Alm and Celica.
Someone wake me up if Rayman ever becomes a fighter instead of just a trophy.
So... more powerful system with more memory. Two components that were needed for Ice Climbers???
@SLIGEACH_EIRE leave my awesome collectibles and DLC alone! Always ready for more.
@Furealz I agree - many more announcements to come as Nintendo keep a smooooooth flow of quaaaaaaaality games coming to the Nintendo SWIIIIIIIIITCH!
Since Smash 5 will happen at some point on the Switch, I think the Inklings,King K. Rool, anyone from Arms, etc will be saved for that game.
My guess is that Smash Switch brings back the Ice Climbers, Wolf, and Snake as veterans, with the newcomer likely being a Gen VII Pokemon, Alm or Celica or even Rayman.
Safe picks who add something to the roster, but won't have the hype of the Inklings.
@GrooveManyula The Ice Climbers are the most likely veterans to come back, even over Wolf and Snake. They were in the Wii U version and were even working in 8-man Smashes. They only reason they got cut was because they could not get them to work in the 3DS version, and Sakurai was determined to keep the rosters the same between the two versions.
The Switch version won't have that limitation, so I see the Ice Climbers making a full comeback in the Switch version of Smash 4.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Amiibo aren't a scam - they are neat collectible figures that have the quirky feature of involving themselves with your gaming in a positive way!
I am glad to purchase these as they look really cool around my home, the people who work at Nintendo love them as a product, they have become much higher quality since the earliest production run. Profit from Amiibo helps Nintendo to delevip more and better games and to make a new console more viable due to the extra income that the partnership between Console and Amiibo generates. It also helps to produce a bigger buzz around the brand which, again only helps the position of the company in the market.
I think they are fabulous!
When smash comes to switch, which I think will be in 2018 will be be announced at E3 which will be via a new challenger announcement which will be The Inklings. I think it will be a port with the 3ds game modes added. I also think they will add a character from Arms and add a move to Mario that uses his hat
And Bomberman
I hope it has to do with a new game wich they will anounce first and after a new trailer for smash.
I also want them to give Link a fresh look (breath of the wild style)
And please add a storymode
JUST GIVE ME CLOUD AMIIBO!
Please give us something like the story mode like the Wii version
I think someone's forgetting that there's a Smash Bros. game on 3DS that can also use Amiibo.
My wishlist (because why not)
Returning
All 58 characters from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U
Ice Climbers
Squirtle
Wolf
New (with some being released as DLC over the following year)
Bomberman - with all 8 characters as skins
Daisy
Dillon
Dixie Kong
Dr Eggman
Inklings
King K. Rool
M.O.N.I.T.A
Mallo
Maxwell
Paper Mario
Ribbon Girl
Snipperclips
Waluigi
Which would bring it to 75 characters
@Caryslan I doubt Smash 5 will happen during the Switch era, same with Mario Kart 9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and an enhanced port of Smash Wii U acting as the definitive Mario Kart and Smash games for the Switch which get added with DLC throughout the Switch's lifespan.
If new characters could be a thing, I'd wish for Neku, Quote, Phoenix Wright, and Sora, in that order of preference.
But I'm so close to a complete Smash Amiibo collection, don't give me more I have to collect...
@SLIGEACH_EIRE More SPAMiibo, Slugish?
Don't feel the need to repeat that exact same thing every Time.
Just like MK8, the switch will receive a Deluxe version of Smash Bros. with all current DLC thrown in, but I suspect they will continue to supply the wiiU and 3DS with SLC alongside the Switch version because there is still money in that for them and also the ability to sell more Amiibos. I don't see any reason to stop producing DLC for all three systems if the main game remains the same. I'm sure the switch version will have more features, but only in the same way that 3DS/2DS < New3DS < wiiU. If the 3DS is still planned to be supported why only develop content for the the weakest platform and the highest when they could hit all platforms.
I was thinking that one of the CPSIAs were for the Fire Emblem double pack...how are people assuming Smash? the 2nd CSPIA is probably Corrin. they'll probably release him sometime before Echoes. the game does come out a month in Japan before anywhere else, by the time the US release comes out, E3 would be in less than a month.
Or it's the Bokoblin and Zelda (BOTW) amiibo? i just wonder what is tipping people off that it's Smash related. Echoes amiibo makes a bit of sense since Fire Emblem needs to ride on the mobile game's coattails, a month's difference could be for both localization or just logistics in making amiibo for the demand. similar to Kirby: Planet Robobot.
I'm thinking if Smash does have a switch version the new characters would probably be Isabelle/Digby (Lottie appears in Isabelle's place when her Assist trophy is procced), Wolf, Ice Climbers, Jibanyan, Inklings, maybe one of the Rays? (assuming the Custom Robo rumor is real) the Ray would be an original, whereas one of the DLC would be a spinoff of a Dark Ray palette, based around the new CR game's look (a prototype Ray Mk 4, 4 for Death). kinda like how Dark Pit started off as a palette swap in Brawl, then became a character in 4.
Kind of partial to either Porky Minch, Eggman or K. Rool as villainous characters. if they're making a large change like removing customizable moves and the decriminalization of online Miis (simplify to just Mii fighter type, skin color, gender and height as unaffected), just hand some of their movesets to new characters. Viridi could probably fit in with some of Palutena's alts. think there was even some dummied out Alt moves for Mario that either froze or were mostly incomplete.
I just want Snake back !
Personally I'd rather have a new Smash game on the Switch rather than a port of Smash 4 on there. We already have the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash 4 so why make the same game but basically make the 3DS port irrelevant? That isn't very smart.
Probably going to be a port like how Mario Kart 8 deluxe is. So new characters stages and adventure mode added back
Give me the Bayo amiibo already Nintendo. I'll even fight nail and tooth to get a preorder if necessary, are you happy?
In the mean time, why don't you add Elma to the rooster? I promise I'd also get her amiibo.
Switch port of Smash I bet with some new characters and all the dlc.
Cloud and bayonetta amiibos I bet a 100 bucks.
Gimme Ridley! Or not, the game already has a ton of characters to keep me satisfied lol
I wouldn't really see the point of porting over Smash Bros. I mean, if you were being cynical about it you could say that a new Smash Bros game is basically a port of the last one with an ever-more bloated character roster anyway. There will inevitably be a new Smash Bros on Switch, so porting over the previous one as well seems kind of redundant. May as well just wait for the new one. Games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc. don't really need ports or remakes because their sequels basically do that job anyway. It's not like porting/remaking a Zelda game or something, which are relatively unique experiences. But then, they've ported over Mario Kart 8 so who knows...
Give me Shovel Knight for Smash! I mean come on, he's already got an amiibo that's going to be redundant soon... Also, a new round of character skins for Link and Mario to promote newer games like BotW and Odyssey.
Now that he's officially back from the dead how about BOMBERMAN!?
@JaxonH Not a problem, that's what Jax Express Shipping is for. Can't let sinalefa have all the fun. Cloud and Bayonetta will be mine. Well Cloud is sight unseen, listening to the FF7 soundtrack in the Regalia is making me cry, I still need to see Cereza first, though the tantalizing shots looked promising. SSBSwitch will be out by Holiday 2018 the latest, but I've been saying shown at E3, released alongside Mario's Adventure at Christmas.
@Grumblevolcano I don't think we'll get SSB 5 on Switch, 4 isn't even announced yet, and hopefully Sakurai is working on Kid Icarus Uprising 2 and a port of the first for Switch, but I think MK9 will happen in 3 years, spring 2020. I think it will be modular though, a small game to start and track packs every 4 months for 2 years. Then MK Complete again on Switch 2. I think they liked their slow roll out model on Splatoon and their $100 of DLC for SSB. MK is the perfect game to keep going and going and keep the money coming in. I know that's overly cynical, but the entire gaming industry is killing me these days. Soon every game will be $60-to-start and $100 more to finish. FFVII Remaster will probably cost $180, 3 $60 games. Everybody wants a 4 part trilogy these days. Star Wars basically just made 3 new films into 6. The main films 7, 8, 9 and 7a, 8 and 9a. It never ends.
@thesilverbrick , Nintendo know that wii u was a failure at that time , and said we want profit, make amiibo stuff to add to the game and port it over to the switch and take your time, want it done holiday 2016, or march 2017 at deadline more or less. untill i beat it once its comes out, i'll see how many different stuff it has compared to other zelda games thats open world, if it looked rushed or waiting on amiibo production to keep up, switch production, other switch games too.
i do want botw to be great a bit more than having rest of the smash bros line.
@AlexSora89 I can't hear you over the sound of my money hitting the screen
My TV!
@Zadaris
I threw banknotes, not coins! Chill out!
It really should be ported to Switch, so fans can at least enjoy this version of Smash Bros. while Nintendo works on a proper new game in the franchise for the console.
In fact, that applies to pretty much every first party Wii U franchise game to be honest: Basically, the whole back library of Wii U games should be put on Switch where possible (and NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, DS, 3DS, Wii, etc).
I want my corrin.
